We have classified the 142 complaints from 2014 Nissan Altima about EXTERIOR LIGHTING into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that the low beam headlights failed to illuminate brightly as the contact's visibility was obscured. the vehicle was taken to kraft nissan (3277 mahan drive, tallahassee, fl 32308, 1-850-576-6171) where it was diagnosed that the headlight assemblies were fractured. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and advised the contact to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was 59,106.
The halogen projector headlights are dangerously dim as time goes on and new bulbs do not fix the problem. other altima owners report this same issue and i suspect that the bowl with reflective coating on the projectors is bad. the headlights are very dim and can only illuminate less than 100 feet. the high beams do not have this issue as they are only halogen bulbs and not projectors. one must drive with the high beams on to safely see on the highway and on dark streets and this is not safe for surrounding drivers either.
Complaint involving low beam headlights very dangerous.
Low beam headlights are too dim to be safe. i've taken this to the dealer twice, and each time been told to try new bulbs. following their advice, bulbs have been replaced twice now, once with hid, and again with led. both options gave very little to no increase in visibility. dangerous to drive the car after dark as the headlights only provide light 10-15 feet beyond the front bumper.
Headlamps are dimming and night time driving requires the use of high beams. dealer stated that it is normal wear and tear. only option is to replace the headlamps. vehicle has 52,600 miles. it is not safe to drive without good illuminated visibility.
Front headlights are very dim at night. very poor visibility. cannot see the road. replaced light bulbs and it did not improve the problem at all.
Front headlights very dim at night. cannot see road.very poor visibility. replaced bulbs and it did not improve the visibility.
The low beam headlights are very dim. i am concerned about driving at night as i cannot see very far in front of car unless i use high beams. noticed last year, seems to be even worse now.
The headlights on low beam does not produce enough light to see the sides of the road or any object within 5 to 10 feet in front of car. replaced bulb with upgraded bulbs and it did not help. very unsafe to drive at night. i can't drive when it is raining to hard to see. this is only with the low beam. this has become worse over time. i brought this car new. i have less then 100000 miles.
Changing (or even upgrading) the light bulbs has not improved night vision. the dim lights are a safety hazard to the people in my car and to others on the street.
Low beams on headlights no longer light up enough to safely drive above 25 mph. they have progressively gotten worse over time. it is a know fact that the film inside the projector lens is failing, but no recall has been issued. how many accidents or even deaths need to occur before this will be taken care of. my car only has 50,000 miles on it, so it would be considered a low mileage vehicle.
My 2014 nissan altima headlights are very dim and i have to drive with brights on just to see at night. this is a real safety concern. i have replaced the bulbs twice with led and hid and they have not fixed the problem.
My 2014 altima's low beam headlights are extremely dim that is not secure to drive at night. changing the bulbs don't fix the problem.
We purchased this car new in late 2013. over the past few years we have had dimness in the front passenger side headlight. have changed bulbs for both sides with no success on the passenger side. lights remain dangerously dim... so much so that we need to use the brights to see at night. reading other complaints this is definitely a safety recall issue on the altima which should be addressed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving various speeds with the low beam headlights activated, the lights failed to produce adequate illumination. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the bulbs were fractured. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (auto lenders, 6201 black horse pike, egg harbor twp, nj 08234, 888-305-5968) where it was diagnosed that a minor adjustment was needed. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 46,000.
The headlights especially the driver side i can barely see from. i thought headlight was out of adjustment and got it checked and they said it appears to be a flaw with the reflectors. i can not see anything hardly from the driver side headlight. i have to drive with high beams on. also after searching this type of issue i found that several other people have complained about the same issue.
Low beam headlights over time are extremely dim. illumination is not adequate to drive at night. this is reportedly a manufacturing defect in the projector not the bulb dimming or burning out. vehicle is dangerous to drive at night. the internet is filled with similar complaints so my vehicle is not an isolated incident.
I am issuing a complaint about my 2014 nissan altima due to the extreme dullness of headlight power. nissan has failed to acknowledge this issue, and the fact that is indeed a safety concern. there have been many times where i have had to slam on my breaks because i nearly hit a large animal or other object in the road. my headlights do not project far or wide. id estimate they project 4 feet in front of me, i have tried adjusting the headlights up and changing to very expensive and high quality led bulbs, with no improvement.
1) frontal passenger air bag. it always says off, even when there's a passenger. i'm not sure whether this is a takata inflator. (this occurs every time all the time when the engine is running, wether idleing, drive, neutral and reverse) 2) headlights. the headlights (both) continually get dimmer and dimmer until you are unable to see causing a very dangerous situation. (this occurs every time all the time when the engine is running, wether idleing, drive, neutral and reverse)i have had or changed my light bulb(s) at least (6) times in the 16 months i have had the vehicle. i have been stopped by law inforcement several times and a livery driver i have had customer complaints.
Headlights are extremely dim causing a driving and safety hazard. driving at night is almost impossible. i have owned this car for 4 years and within the last year this issue has only gotten worse. i have 3 kids actively involved in after school sports activities and at this point i fear for my family's safety.
Both of my headlamps are defective and nissan has recognized this as a manufacture's defect but has refused to issue a recall. they are only covering the parts and not labor. by accepting to pay part is an admission of guilt on nissan's part. the nissan dealer's mechanic (coral springs nissan 954-753-1700)has admitted this is a common issue in these type of vehicles. it is very difficult to see at nights with the headlamps and can cause a vehicular accident. an internet search will also confirm this is a common issue. https://www.cars.com/articles/2001-2015-nissan-vehicles-headlight-issue-1420681694127/ reference tsb no. 03-074h.
The headlight assembly needs recalled asap! i noticed that the headlights appeared much dimmer so i replaced the bulbs twice but it isn't a problem with the bulb. it doesn't matter if you get better bulbs, the headlight projector will not project light forcing you to drive with the high beams on. it is dangerous! my son was pulled over driving my car one night because the officer said it didn't look like he had headlights and advised him to drive with the bright high beam lights on. i've researched this issue and it seems that literally hundreds of people have complained about this issue but nissan is doing nothing to correct the problem! i've always bought nissans but all the issues i have had with this car, i will never buy another one! this has been an ongoing problem that i have dealt with now for two years and since nissan won't issue a recall, i'm forced to purchase new headlight assembly's for the car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that the headlights became very dim over time, which made it extremely difficult to see at night. the vehicle was taken to giles nissan lafayette (6137 johnston st, lafayette, la 70503) where it was diagnosed that the projector lens needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was also contacted and was unable to provide assistance. the failure mileage was 150,000. *tt *tr
The headlights have become very dim over time. both light bulbs have been replaced, but it is like driving with no headlights! i often have to drive with high beams on so i can see at night! having high beams on is a danger for other drivers. nissan is aware of the problem and will not do anything about this. there has to be some way to make them fix the problem. hopefully before someone is injured or killed because of nissan's negligence!
Discovered the inadequately poor low-beam illumination level in 2017 when i had to replace the drivers-side headlamp. noticed the beam did not light up on my shirt when standing in front of the car. the passenger side lamp did. not greatly, but there was a beam on my shirt. replaced the low-beam lamp again and did both sides and the problem with poor illumination continued on the drivers side. at this point my 2014 model was out of warranty and i had started using my high-beam lights at night and lived with it. then discovered my car was not the only one and decided to submit this nhtsa complaint.
Headlamps are very dim while driving at night. control arms are loose, i'm guessing the result of the 2 flaps on each side.underneath the car keeps coming loose even after replacing plastic screws. no accidents have occurred.
Both low beam headlights no longer adequately illuminate the road at night, creating very unsafe driving conditions. illumination intensity has gradually gotten worse over time. use of high beams is required to adequately view the road at night, which blinds oncoming drivers, thus creating unsafe driving conditions for them.
Headlights are not bright enough and not visible driving at nite. very dangerous and not safe for nite driving an accident waiting to happen for all 2013-2015 atima models.have to purchase new headlights which cost me $300.00 for headlight and $300 to install. i feel there should be a recall for these nissan atima's and i should get reimbursed.
My headlights are so dim i cannot see, i replaced the bulbs and there is no change, the issue is in the headlight covering, its darkening the bulb. it is a hazard!
Low beam headlights are extremely dim. i even replace them with hid and led light but no change very low visibility at night
I can't see at night using the dim lights. i have changed them 3 times, and put the most expensive/powerful/brightest lights i could buy, and paid mechanics 3 times to change them (you have to go up through the wheel well skirting), and the brightness i get is like candle light. i try not to ever have to drive it at night.
The low beam headlights are very dim.bulb replacement does not help.
In my 2014 nissan altima the lights have dimmed so bad you can barely see 2 feet in front of you at night. it makes it very hazardous in night and rainy conditions
Night time driving is almost impossible, low beams do not illuminate the road. it's like driving with parking lights on, extremely dangerous!
My low beam headlights have just gotten super dim that i feel very unsafe driving at night. i purchased the car new and over time the low beam headlight projection dimmed over time that i feel uncomfortable driving at night. i replaced the bulb and that didn't work. i then upgraded to led lighting and the lighting projection is still to dim to drive at night. i mentioned it to my dealer several times and called nissan to report this and they said they did not have a recall for this matter. my car has 72,000 miles on it and has had this problem for over 2 years. headlights don't light up no more than 15 ft which is no good while driving at 55mph.
Dim front light
Since the first week we owned the car, occasionally the screen(back up cam, radio...) doesn't start, or fails within first mile of driving- maybe 10 times since purchase date. on july 29, 2015- morning- car upon start, no screen and no dashboard. restarted twice and then fine. at 9:30 p.m. same day-- close to home, side mirror failure warning showed on dash- and a subsequent failure of systems- including but not limited to- gps, screen, turn signals, headlights, hazard lights, all dash information. i pulled into parking garage and attempted to open window to use key fob for gate and had no operating windows, including sunroof or locks. put car in park and could not get it into another gear.trapped in car for 15 min. with car running- passenger door then unlocked. aaa called. car ran for 3 hrs. aaa disabled the electrical operating the fuel pump. car towed to cochran in pittsburgh. since a restart resets the computer, no code on diagnostic would be found. cochran considers the situation resolved. nissan has a case # and several recorded (by nissan) conversations have occurred with regional rep. and that rep. will not send written findings of investigation (check the i key)as it is internal information and i will pay all diagnostic fees associated. rep has no technical knowledge and has no explanation of what an i key is or how or for what it should be checked. there is a directive from nissan regarding this problem as told to me by wright nissan, but again nothing will be done without the code from diagnostic computer. this can't happen again- but it will and it could be catastrophic-the intermittent, random, systematic failure will happen- the extent and order of events unknown - leaving us an uncertain outcome and no plan for response in the given situation. we suspect the problem is the bcm as alerted by the internet research, the aaa driver and the cochran tech.
The low beam on my altima 2014 sv 4cy. 2.5l, is totally inadequate. there is minimal visibility at night with low beam, creating a very hazardous problem on the roadway. this is not a unique problem on my altima, it is a major problem on most of the 2013, 2014, 2015, etc. models. this is obviously a production problem with the nissan altima. changing bulbs to a higher quality has not resolved the problem and nissan dealership has quoted approx. $1000.00 to rectify the problem. this is a safety issue and i as well as others think the manufacturer should recall and address this problem since it is a serious safety hazard..
The low beams on my vehicle are very dim. at night i need to drive with my high beams on to see. this is a common defect in this make model year car from research i've conducted. i took it to the dealer it was purchased from several times, only to be told that the lights are fine. progressively getting worse.
The low beam headlights are extremely dim, they are very unsafe when driving at night you can't see more than a few feet in front of the vehicle, street signs and road reflectors do not illuminate at all. i have replaced the bulbs several times with out any improvement, the most recent change was made with a new led lighting kit with no improvement in the down road vision. the problem does not change if the vehicle is standing at idle or in motion.
Can't see with headlights on low beam. i have replaced bulbs multiple times but doesn't help. will be thousands of dollars to fix correctly. this is very dangerous as i can barely see in front of me on any road at night.
I have very dim headlights. i've tried led's and the best halogens. i've cleaned inside of the projectors, but in a day or two, the projectors clouds up again. called nissan, and the would maybe give 300 bucks against 1500 to 1800. or i could drive with the high brights on.
Every since i bought the car it has had low visibility at night i complained about it to them it is going to end up costing over 1500 to fix it but they wait to the warranty is out to tell me this nissan should have done put out a recall on them but won't due to the cost i can't even drive my car at night any more may let it go back the cars came out with bad parts in them when you tell them bout things wrong they push it off till warranty runs out that tells you they already knew bout it
Rear taillight housings fog up badly, some dealerships didn't recognize problem then one did when i did not go back to dealership right away they sent the parts back! finally another dealership recognized the problem but when they changed them one had a mark inside of the fixture, part missing inside truck and a new scratch mark on the car, also put in incorrectly! this car is turning into a frankenstein car and exactly what and how everything being done to it to devalue this car is happening! factory seals are being broken and not being fixed at all is the outcome! the tail lights fog up more than the last ones! this car is a lemon! *tr
