Pass air bag light stays on when wife is in pass seat. her weight is 165lbs. it has come on a few times but could not get it to the dealer until 10/30/14. i was told no dtc's found. this is an intermittent problem and it lights up when it wants to. it is not safe. the dealer tech confirmed operation of light tsb#ntb14-027. i have no doubt the light works it's just on at the wrong time. not safe!!! once again the light coming on with a passenger in the seat. did hunter nissan hendersonville nc sell me a car with a recall? is this legal? *tr

The passenger air bag light came on with my wife sitting in the passenger seat. she has set there many times before with no problems. so when the light came on with here in the seat i called the service department. now my wife weighs 130 lb. i was told she is at the border of what the sensors in the seat is supposed to activate. i'm not going to tell her to gain weight. *tr

While driving on a section of a us highway that was under construction, a bump was encountered where the pavement blended with old pavement. at that time i noticed that the warning light for no passenger in the passenger seat came on. the problem was that my wife was sitting in the seat and had been for approximately 8 miles at the time the light came on. i pulled over as soon as possible, shut the ignition off and restarted the car. after doing this, the warning light went off and we proceeded home without incident. my concern is that the ocs was reprogrammed when i had the vehicle serviced on 7/15/2014 and until this time, i had experienced no other problems since it was reprogrammed. it appears that the ocs reprogramming is not correcting the issue. i tried to contact nissan, however, it was after hours and i will have to wait until monday to report the issue to them. *tr

This issue is regarding the passenger air bag light that turns on even when there is an adult passenger occupying the seat. the weight of the adult passenger (150lbs - 180lbs) is much higher than the threshold for activating the air bags. have taken to the nissan dealership and complained about this issue during my 3 service visits, but every time i get a response that there are no issues with the sensors and there are no pending recalls. it took me a lot of effort to make them understand what i'm saying and the dealership was of no help. they made me believe that this is a non-issue and i should ignore the air bag light. this is a very serious issue and i've now a video/photo evidence with different adults in the passenger seats. further, this is very erratic. at one instance, i've had my wife sit in the passenger seat while the air bag light was off and suddenly turned on when we were cruising at 65mph on the highway, the light suddenly turned on. it's caused a brief panic and we had to stop, re-start the engine and then it worked fine. we're very scared to ride a passenger and the dealership is of no help. i searched online and found many other users having similar concerns with no resolution. this is a very very serious safety issue and would request the erratic and faulty air bag problem be resolved before we wait to hear about some casualty because of faulty airbags from nissan. *tr

While driving my 2014 nissan altima, the passenger side airbag light stayed on although an adult passenger was sitting in the seat. i pulled over, turned the car off and re-started it, the light went off. this has happened twice within a month. *tr

The front passenger air bag lite stays on while the passenger is seated.indicating the air bag is in-operative. the dealer performed updates, both software and hardware. the problem was never fixed ! after demanding a factory engineer to inspect the car, the result was: some of these cars , this failure will happen, and there is nothing that can be done" his recommendation was , drive to the side of the road, turn off the car and re-start the car and the "computer" will be reset ! now in excess of 4500 miles, it still fails ! *tr

I was traveling east on highway 70 in nc in a 2014 white nissan altima on a four lane highway under rainy conditions. a hyundai was traveling west on hwy 70, hydroplaned, crossed the median and hit me head on causing her car to spin and her passenger side then struck my driver's side. my steering wheel airbag deployed but the driver's side airbags did not deploy. the second impact damaged my nissan's driver side door to the point it had to be forced open. the hyundai's passenger side airbags deployed in both the front and back seats which is the side that struck my driver's side. my 2014 nissan altima was damaged beyond repair and totaled by the insurance company. i sustained multiple injuries with the majority being on my left side. ..updated 11/13/14 *bf *tr

On wednesday, july 15th 2014 i was leaving my community and there was a section on the way where water accumulates after it rains. during my drive out the community i needed to go through the puddle of water to continue my exit. as i passed through the puddle, the water rushed inside the car, on the driver's side under the steering wheel. it appears that the water rushed into the cabin through the steering column. *tr

Takata recall whenever i turn on my car the yellow airbag light flashes for the passenger seat

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated the front passenger air bag sensor failed to detect when the seat was occupied. the contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 14v138000 (air bags , electrical system). however, the failure persisted. both the dealer and the manufacturer have been made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 4,000. updated 10/22/14*cn updated 4/7/2015 *js

My son lost control of his vehicle due to a seizure , he hit a on coming 4 wheel drive truck partly head on , then another truck t-bone him in the passenger side. during the wreck none of the airbags deployed are the seat belt restrain him . his head went thru the windshield partly and the back of his neck broke off the head rest. he has no related issues of seizures of any kind in the past, no one ticketed for the accident period. we come find out that nissan manufacture has a recall on this car because of airbags problems. we never received any kind of noticed from the dealer ship are nissan manufacture period. i' very concern about the safety of this vehicle even being on the road period. *tr

Recently after getting the s/w updated for the recall to fix the passenger air bag issue, i started noticing that the air bag indicator for both driver and passenger are red for longer time than other dash lights during the start of the engine. usually, after starting the engine , all the dash light would come and within couple of seconds, lights/indicators in the dash would go from red to off indicating that everything is normal. but off late , i noticed that only the air bag indicator is going off by at least 3+ seconds, which in turn in sync with the passenger air bag. i'm kind of worried that the air bag safety system is not functioning properly. please advise any further action to get proper attention from the dealer. thanks *tr

Since the day i got the vehicle the passenger air bag was malfunctioning. they repaired 5 times but failed.finally they proposed a settlement agreement but it is unfair. my request is for a replacement vehicle.

Re recall 14v-138. took vehicle in on 6-19-2014. reprogram of passenger side air bag sensor was performed by dealership service dept. did not fix. sensor deactivation light coming on again. why is deactivation even a feature? needs removed/replaced so that air bag will deploy in collision whether seat is occupied or empty!

On the way to get a cup of coffee (less than one mile from my home) a car started coming into my lane. i swerved slightly to avoid a collision and my car went into the ditch and hit a telephone pole. over $22,000 in damage. radiator bent into an "l" shape. side frames and engine went into the firewall, which totaled the car completely. i have spoken with nissan corp. air bag safety engineer, dealership owner, general manager, sales manager and they will not do anything about this $22,000 damage to the front end and none of the airbags deployed. officer said driver airbag and side curtain and in seat airbags should have also deployed. they didn't and i was almost killed. the car was only 2 months old, no modifications, and very low miles. kiro7 tv in seattle even did two stories on the crash and airbags not working and that nissan had only recalled passenger airbags, not driver side airbags. ..updated 07/16/14 *bf

Car coming into my lane, swerved right a few inches, car sucked into ditch, launched into telephone pole, put out power for 2 miles. airbag (driver's) did not deploy. bent radiator into "l" shape, sent front frame and engine into firewall. airbag should have deployed regardless of anything. poor manufacturing, late recalls not made to consumerrs. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the sensor needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 100.

Passenger airbag off light illuminates frequently when an adult passenger is seated in the passenger seat. as a result, in the event of a crash, passenger would not be protected by airbags. dealer has analyzed and informed that vehicle is operating exactly as designed. vehicles has already been repaired pursuant to recall campaign 14v138000, but problem persists. *tr

This is an ongoing problem. the information provided above is approximate as i didn't know it was an issue until a recall from my nissan dealer on april 22' 2014. since then i have had it back to the dealer two more times for the same incident only to be told it could not be fixed, but they gave me a procedure to get around the issue. the issue involves the air bag light on the passengers side staying lit even when there is an adult in the seat. the light on means the passengers air bag is disabled. i am told to check light while the car in on and in park and if on, have the passenger stay perfectly still for about eight seconds, until the light goes out. sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. occasionally i have to shut off the engine and restart in order for this to work. most times, i forget to check the light only to notice it on while driving. this is not acceptable. i worry about not noticing and having a front end accident. surely in this day and age nissan engineers can find a fix. *tr

Passenger air bags off light is "on" while driving, at any speed, with an adult in front passenger seat. the problem first occurred when the vehicle was less that a week old. it continues to occur about once a month. i have had the car at the dealer many times. the problem cannot be duplicated at the dealer, therefore no repairs have been made. on june 15, 2016 the vehicle was taken to the dealer in response to recall #16v244000. no help! the problem has occurred twice since then. the problem: always occurs during an engine start. never while driving. it seems to be part of the initialization process. may correct itself at any time. it may last for a half a mile or 50 miles. cannot be corrected by the passenger standing or bouncing can always be corrected by pulling off the road and stopping then restarting the engine. i have a lots of cell phone photos showing vehicle speed, "passenger air bag off" indication and an adult passenger in the passenger seat. these photos are dated.

Vehicle sold and warranted to first lessee by authorized dealer not subject to recall. upon inspection, possible passenger warning light defects observed. lessee demanded cancellation of transaction. *js

Randomly this occurs, when sitting in the front passenger seat the air bag sign for that seat will say off. on our last trip we left a stop and entered the highway but the light stayed on indicating the air bag was not activated. we had to drive like that until we could safely stop. we then turned off the ignition and started the car again, and this time the air bag off light did not stay lit. we have had the vehicle at the dealer 6 times for this problem. because they can not duplicate the problem when the car is there the only thing they say they can do is a zero point reset on ocs system. that has not stopped this issue from reoccurring. we have phoned bergstrom of oshkosh 5 days this week, they do not return our call. the last diagnosis states electrical, however, tony the service advisor told us the last time we were their that they don't want to throw money at the car it could be a sensor, electrical, the air bag system or the seat. because they cannot replicate the problem when we are there they do not know what to fix, so choose to do nothing. the recall on the car was done 5/26/16. however we continue to have this problem. the service advisor has repeatedly said it is because the passenger is not sitting on the seat correctly, however the last time it occurred the passenger was sitting in the same position when the air bag was off as she was when the ignition was turned off and restarted correcting the problem. our warranty will run out soon. we phoned nissan and they will only go by what there auto tech at bergstrom tells them, so no help there either. i have copies of invoices from when the car was taken in for this problem.

We were one of the 2014 nissan altima's that was experiencing the passenger air bag issue: even though a full-sized adult was sitting in the seat, the "air-bag off" would be illuminated. it was brought in under the recall in roughly october of 2014. after getting the car back, we immediately noticed that the light was still coming on when a passenger was present. we were told that it could be due to humidity, as we live in florida. but even during the winter months it still read that the air bag was off. this is concerning if it is a safety issue and nissan is not properly fixing the issue. i heard recently on the news that more complaints are coming forward and i wanted to make sure my voice was heard. thank you. *tr

2014 nissan altima. consumer writes in regards to passenger airbag indicator light issues. *smd the consumer stated the air bag light illuminated indicating the passenger air bag was deactivated, despite his 100 pound wife was seated in the front passenger seat. the dealer reprogrammed the occupant classification system. however, four months later, the light illuminated again. the dealer reprogrammed the ocs again. the consumer returned to the dealer for a third time, in december 2014. the dealer claimed they test drove the vehicle with a passenger and they could not duplicate the problem. *jb

Problem is, my girlfriend weight 110lb. lot of time when she sits on the passenger side, the airbag indicator tells us the airbag is off. this problems only happened when i picked up my car on the street next to curbs. design of roads is, the center is higher than the sides. because of that, when i park on the right of the streets next to the curbs, the left side of the car is higher than the right side. so when my girlfriend sits on the passenger side, her weight doesnt goes to the center of the seat. but if the car is on surface level such as in a garage, and she get in the car, we have no airbag issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact's vehicle was rear ended while idling at a traffic light. there was extensive damage to the rear of the vehicle. the air bags did not deploy. the contact received neck and back injuries and her spouse suffered back injuries. medical attention was received. a police report was filed. the vehicle was repaired by a local mechanic. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the failure mileage was 15,000. *tt vehicle purchase date should be on or before incident date *jb

Immediately after starting the car, with a passenger in the front seat, the passenger air bag off light came on. i drove for about 15 minutes and got up to 60mph before it finally shut off. this happened more than once, the above date is the last time it happened though. *tr

New purchased 2014 nissan altima sv 2.5 with cloth interior experiences 'passenger air-bag off' light illuminating with 132 pound 5 foot 7 inch adult female occupant in passenger seat. light displays with occupant sitting in normal straight position with feet square on floor, back centered on backrest, and arms to her sides. problem replicates during successive trips on same and different days. returned vehicle to dealership at approximately 150 miles. dealership performed diagnostics demonstrating no problems detected within fault codes and verified seat installed correctly. case opened with nissan customer service and vehicle returned with 386 miles on odometer for nissan field engineer testing. service documentation from testing states removed seat and checked for ocs c/v and strain sensor lot numbers, harnesses and connectors checked, re-torqued seat frame to floor pan per esm se-31, performed zero point reset, and confirmed ocs switching rates. all information determined proper with no defects found. problem replicated in second 2014 altima sv with same adult female (utilizing dealership provided 2014 altima with same trim levels as loan during engineering test). nissan customer service states problem is closed with no defect found. no further reviews will be conducted. all attempts requesting additional assistance have failed to date. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that the front passenger air bag warning light remained illuminated while the passenger was in the front seat and sometime the air bag warning light indicated that the air bag was turned off. the dealer replaced the air bag sensor module and the computer was also replaced; however, the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 300 and the current mileage was 62,096.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. while driving various speeds, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was previously repaired according to nhtsa campaign number: 14v138000 (air bags, electrical system). the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 1,000.

Had random passenger airbag remain on when passenger was sitting in seat - met all weight requirements. this never happened continually but was problematic enough to bring in to dealer. they could not find anything wrong. brought in several times, still no fix. nissan recalled this problem in april 2015, had fix done to vehicle. within a week airbag light stayed on with passenger in seat. this issue continues yet talking with nissan they believe that since the dealer can't find any error codes showing what the problem is they will not fix it. nissan will not put this under nhtsa campaign number: 15v681000 as it does not fit their criteria. i believe any passenger sitting in that seat is not safe. vehicle is running passenger comes in and sits in seat, passenger airbag light stays on. passenger is 160#. if i turn vehicle off and restart the airbag light usually does stay off. but not sure of the safety at that point - is airbag really on? this is continual since buying the vehicle in 2013, fix in spring of 2015 did not fix ocs for my vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that while driving 25 mph, another vehicle crash into the driver's side of the vehicle. none of the air bags deployed. the driver sustained a separated hip. the two rear passenger sustained injuries to the back, spine and whiplash injuries. a police report was filed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and sent an engineer to further investigate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 400.

Hello, i have taken my brand new nissan altima 2014 4 times to the dealership for the problem nissan has been having. when there is someone over the weight limit sitting in the passenger side the air bag light that indicates if its on or off does not come off. stating that the airbag is off even though someone is sitting in he passenger side with the weight requirement. it all started on 11/10/14 and was told nothing was wrong, took it again on 1/14/15 and they said they found a code ( b00a0-00) indicating the airbag would turn off. they told me they fixed the problem by replacing the sensor and control unit and performed zero point reset. the problem came back again on 2/3/15 and was told that there is nothing wrong and that if it happens just pull over and turn off the car until the lights turn off and does not come back on. took it again for the same problem in march and was told that they could not do nothing even though they knew it was not working as intended. *tr
