I work in car leasing and actually think the information on this website's database is wrong, just flagging this issue. this vin and many others for other altimas says no remedy but when you go to the dealership they are able to solve recall r1609. other altima vins with this same recall also have a different status saying there is a solution. *tr
Nissan issued recall on the passenger side airbag sensor that disengages the airbag when a grown adult is seated in the passenger seat. my car was recalled and "supposedly" fixed, but two separate incidences have occurred where the passenger airbag light indicating the airbag is off when a person is seated there has occurred. the issue was not resolved fully with nissan's warranty fix and nissan is looking into my car further on how to fix the issue. i have researched the issue and many other instances of this issue occurring after the so called "fix" performed by nissan. link below: http://www.carcomplaints.com/nissan/altima/2014/seat_belts_air_bags/air_bags.shtml this is a consumer safety issue with not having a properly functioning airbag.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated after the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags). the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000.
My 2014 nissan altima drivers side airbag light has come on for the fourth time since new. (todays date 09/26/2016) the first two times, nissan reset it and conveniently didn't make a record of it in the repair history while it was in warranty. i took it in a few weeks ago because the light was on again, they said it was a loose connection under the seat caused by a box of kleenex, which i think is not true. last week the light came back on again with nothing under the seat. this time, they said i need a new airbag at a cost of $1100, claiming i never brought it in for the drivers side and that i have to pay for it because my car now has 70k miles on it, never-mind it is only 2 years old. my main concern is that this clear and obvious defect causes a significant risk to the occupants because it prevents any of the airbags from deploying in an accident. i cannot afford to spend over $1000 on a part that should never go bad on a car that is only 2 years old. fyi: the vehicle was in motion when the airbag light came on every time and every time it came on there was nobody in the back seat, nor was the seat being adjusted or was anything interfering with the plug, as nissan tries to claim.
Have had 2 factory recalls for pass. side airbag not being activated with pass. in the seat. still having the same problem sometimes. the dealer stated i would be charged if they cannot duplicate the problem. this has been a safety issue for the past 2 years. thank goodness we have not been in a accident that needed the use of the pass. airbag when it was deactivated.
My altima was under recall for the air bag light on dash. had it to the dealer twice and the light stays on when someone is in passemger seat. and we're driving

Since i have had my 2014 nissan altima it has faced several major issues such has two transmissions replacements, now the ac compressor, then the car display screen turned completely pink, and other numerous issues that have already been documented in your system. please refer back to my previous complaints that i have submitted, my service records for the dealership, and so forth for documentation purposes. i truly believe that a car with only 7 miles on it when purchased should not have any of theses issues unless it was manufactured poorly. i am so fed up with dealing with the dealership and run arounds from the corporation that i may have to take legal action if this issue is not resolved in a timely manner.

I brought my car to royal palm nissan for a recall on the hood latch and told them to check the ocs light that went on intermittently even though there was a passenger seated. this was before the recall notice. i received the ocs recall and went to coral 'springs nissan. i returned a week later because the light remained on for 17 minutes a few days later while driving with an adult passenger. i was told it could not be checked because the light was not on then. if the light goes on intermittently, then my passenger is not safe in case of an accident as the airbag will not deploy. what can be done?
I am contacting you over repeated issues with my 2014 nissan altima sl. this is my second complaint filed to nhtsa for this vehicle's airbag. as you are aware, a recall was issued and has been performed on my vehicle. my issue is that the passenger seat won't arm the airbag if my wife sits in the seat. i have multiple videos of this issue. my most recent visit to my nissan dealer resulted in them stating they couldn't fix anything as they couldn't pull an error code. the very next day, the issue happened again with my wife in the passenger seat and again i recorded it. i opened a complaint with nissan corporate. after a frustrating phone call this evening, and a lot of ambitious double talk on nissan's part, the nissan representative said that the issue was that my wife was too lite. my wife weighs between 103 and 108 pounds as she fluctuates a bit. she stands 5 foot 3 inches tall. the nissan representative, delisa said that nissan doesn't recommend anyone under 4 feet 9 inches or less than 120 lbs in the passenger seat. this was never told to me two years ago when i was looking at purchasing the car, or through any of the 6-8 service tickets i have opened regarding this issue with multiple different fixes attempted. ( i can get the exact number as soon as my dealer provides the requested information.) i would have never bought the car knowing my wife couldn't ride in the front passenger seat. i asked for this in writing from the nissan representative but she said she could not provide that. she said it was only for their internal records. i pressed her on the fact that they were saying my wife couldn't sit in the front seat. her reply was that she didn't say that, only that nissan doesn't recommend someone less than 120 pounds in the passenger seat. is it possible to be contacted by the nhtsa to clarify what nissan is saying and if it is accurate?
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. after the dealer repaired the vehicle per an air bag recall on june 28, 2016, the air bag warning light remained illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer on july 20, 2016 to reset the warning light, but the dealer refused without payment. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 79,000. updated 09/29/16*lj *tr
I just had a recall performed on my car for the passenger air bag sensor. now, the air bag warning light stays on all the time when the front passenger seat is empty. this creates a dangerous situation while driving at night because it interferes with peripheral vision because the light is so bright. i complained to my dealer, but they say there is no fix for it. so what do i do, not drive my car at night ? they told me that the recall was ordered by the nhtsa.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. after the vehicle was started, the passenger side air bag off warning light illuminated while the seat was occupied. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags); however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on several different occasions where the ocs sensor was replaced and reprogrammed. in addition, other unknown repairs were performed, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 11,092.
There was recall on this vehicle nhtsa recall 16v-244. it was about the ocs. vehicle was taken to crest nissan of frisco 6600 state hwy 121, frisco, tx 75034 on 14 june 2016. according to the invoice given to me by the dealer the ocs unit was reprogrammed. on 9 aug 16 i took the vehicle back to the same dealer because the supplemental air bag warning light remains on continuously. but the customer service agent at crest nissan of frisco told me that there is nothing wrong with it, this light is supposed to stay on unless the passenger seat is occupied by an adult . owner's manual on page 1-57 clearly mentions that " if the supplemental air bag warning light remains on after approximately 7 seconds, under this condition, the front air bag, side air bag and curtain air bag or pretensioner systems may not operate properly". the dealer has not only failed to rectify the problem but also lied to me about this technical and a potentially hazardous problem. it could mean that the front air bag, side air bag, curtain air bag and/or pretensioner systems will not operate in an accident.
Received the nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 update for ocs error on passenger airbag. i had submitted a complaint regarding this after nissan's previous update did not fix the issue. this issue is still not resolved. after 2 months of use i am seeing that when my wife is in the passenger seat the airbag light notifying me that there is no passenger in the passenger seat stays on still. i can 'reset' by turning the vehicle off and restarting it but can not be positive that the vehicle is actually 'seeing' the passenger. this seems to be a very big issue with nissan and would like to have it resolved. i have not talked with them since when i do the answer i've previously gotten is "we've completed the update and don't know why it's not working for you" bring it in and we'll look - to no avail. so i prefer not to let them play around since resetting the computer does nothing.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 nissan altima. the contact stated that the front passenger side air bag warning light illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v244000 (air bags); however, the dealer advised that the part was not available for repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 54,354.
Two complaints: one: the airbag warning light on the instrument panel intermittently and randomly comes on while driving. when taken to the dealer, they said the plug under the drivers seat was loose. they "fixed it". this problem has occurred 3 times since i bought the car new and is currently doing it again, but it is now out of warranty because of mileage and they are going to charge me to fix a problem that should never happen, yet has reoccurred regularly since new. two: when depressing the brake pedal and near a complete stop, the pedal becomes "soft" for about a half second, the car stops decelerating for that half second then continues to stop normally, thereafter. each time i mention this at a service interval at the dealer, they say they will look into it. nothing is noted on my invoice and nothing is mentioned when the car is picked up. it is unsettling and it causes the car to stop several feet further than if this didn't happen.

The passenger airbag sensor is not properly sensing the weight. the "airbag off" light is on when an adult over the weight limit sits in the seat. plus, a child under the weight limit, the "airbag off" light is off. in short, the passenger airbag sensor is not properly detecting the correct weight of the passenger.

During our vacation while driving in illinois we noticed while on the highway going at a speed of 60 to 65 mph while an adult occupying the passenger seat the air bag light came on and said passenger air bag turned off. i pulled out the owners manual and read that it could be caused by an article perhaps touching the seat if reclined too far back. this was not the case. there was nothing touching the seat. i was sitting perfectly still so the sensor should have detected a passenger in the seat. i had been siting in the seat for hours with the normal movement. we pulled over and turned the car off then restarted and the light stayed off. this happened several more times while driving on our vacation and is a scary thought to have this occur. once home, i called the dealership for an appointment and in the meantime the same thing occurred on a short in town trip twice.my appointment is this week so i am curious what they will find.
Takata recall- i noticed that sometimes the 'airbag' light on the passenger side will be on and no one or anything would be on the passenger side.
The vehicle has had recurring problems with the passenger air bag light coming on while the vehicle is in motion and with an occupant in the passenger seat. this has occurred on both city streets and interstate highways. the vehicle was brought in due to a recall on the restraint system on may 9, 2014. previous to this there were no observable problems. on june 12, 2014 the vehicle was brought into the dealership because i began to have a problem with the air bag light coming on when a passenger was in the front seat while driving. nissan detected a problem and replaced the airbag detection sensor. the problem soon became evident again (many times i drive the vehicle while alone, so problem isn't always evident.) on jan 30, 2015 i brought the vehicle into nissan dealership with the same problem. again, they detected codes regarding the passenger occupant sensors and they said they replaced the sensor. five days later the problem showed up while we were on a lengthy trip. i brought the vehicle in again on april 9. they stated that no codes showed up and suggested it probably would be ok. however on several occasions the problem showed up again, i brought it back to the dealership, each time they stated that they did a computer scan and no codes showed up. i had taken videos on 3 occasions showing the vehicle in motion and showing a passenger in the front seat and showing the airbag light on indicating the airbag was not in operation. i offered , even asked if they would watch but they declined. they said that everything was functional. they further told me that the primary means of restraint was the seatbelt. i asked if they would check to see if the sensor was positioned properly, however they refused, saying that nissan would not authorize any other work to be done unless the computer showed a problem. i am left not knowing of my vehicle is safe.

The passenger side front seat will not detect an adult occupying the seat and disables the air bag for that passenger. i have personally experienced this on multiple occasions for adults ranging in weights from 130 pounds to 165 pounds. i have taken it to my dealer on 4 occasions. the first time they told me they reprogrammed it. the second, they replaced a sensor. the third, they said my wife didn't weigh enough and to sit very still or bounce around in the seat so that the passenger is detected. the fourth time, they replaced two sensors. still the issue persists. to try and remedy, i have to put the car in park and keep turning the car off and on until it detects my passenger and enables the airbag.

The first incidence was in october, 2014; my wife was seated in front passenger seat while the car was in motion, when the passenger air bag off light lit up indicating the air bag system for front passenger was turned off. since she was seated normally with full weight on the seat..we were led to believe the air bag system was not functioning properly. the only way to get the system functioning is to pull over and restart the car. the car was immediately taken to the dealership following that incidence. the service advisor, at that time, confirmed that my car was not part of the recalled air bags, however, they reprogrammed the computer and told me to watch for any other instances. the most recent incident was on 2/8/15, with the same conditions. i quickly scheduled a service appt for 2/12/15 & refused to let anyone in the front seat. while at the dealership on 2/12/15, the nissan service advisor discussed with me a tsb, which said that "occupants who are properly seated and correctly using the seat belt, should not cause the passenger air bag to be automatically turned off." he then had the care inspected by a service tech. following the inspection, the service advisor came to me and noted that the system was not showing any trouble codes. they told me there was nothing they could do and to let them know if i had anymore trouble. at this point i refused to take the car off their lot until it was fixed - i did not feel that my family should be subjected to a possible failure of the air bag system, injury, or death. it appeared to me that those outcomes were 100% avoidable. after a few conversations incl the service manager, i was provided with a dealer loaner vehicle and was told they would research the situation. i have elevated this to nissan's consumer affair specialist via the 1 800 nissan 1, call center. i hope a solution is found quickly. *tr
I am writing regarding problems with the nissan air bag safety system in my 2014 altima. i purchased a 2014 altima in august and have had a recurring intermittent problem of the passenger air bag light coming on and remaining on when i have an adult passenger in the vehicle. my wife weighs 120 pounds yet it is not infrequent for the light to go on when we start the car and then remain on for an extended period of time, usually between fifteen and thirty minutes. it may also come on and stay on if she gets in the car after i have started it. since local trips are often less than thirty minutes, there are times we complete a short trip without the light going out. the light will also come on for no apparent reason while we are driving. during one of these episodes the light came on while we were driving on an interstate, remained on for just over an hour, and then went off. we have had the car evaluated by nissan twice and are repeatedly told nothing is wrong. i also wrote and spoke with nissan corporate and was told there is nothing they can do. there is nothing under the seat. there are no children in the car and my wife is not turning around in the seat. i have pictures (i can forward if desired) that show the problem while we are on the road. *tr

The "passenger air bag" light sporadically comes on when someone is sitting in the front passenger seat. this has happened more than once and became more obvious after an airbag recall sometime last year. it will come on while driving and then turn itself off again after 5min or so. i have researched this, and found other nissan drivers with the same vehicle, or other models report this same issue. not sure if those reporting it also did the recall or not, but it is an obvious ongoing problem. *tr
I have not been notified of this recall! i come across it on my ms news now app, had i not been on this app i may have never known and for this i am very concerned for my safety and that of my niece. i take my niece to school everyday and i have noticed many times that my airbag light stays lit that it's off, i called my nissan north dealership in jackson ms and i was informed that it was fixed and obviously it's not because it is still on!
The pass. side air bag off light do not all ways turn off when someone is setting in pass. seat. nissan last year had a recall for this problem, they reloaded the ocs software for this problem. i have had 3 problem so far sense the recall. most of the time there is no one but me in the car so i do not have a idea of how often it could had fail if someone was in the pass. seat with every trip. i have only taken the car once to the dealer for this problem because the first time i did not think anything about it. the second time i took it to the dealer and after checking it out, they told me that there was noting they could or would do because they had no failure and that nissan will not let them replace any parts unless there is a failure as nissan will not pay for the item. open ref.# 19611123 with nissan and was told about the same thin, except nissan said that it was the dealer call but they would not pay for no failure part replacement. i believe is a safety problem and someone with power should look into it, do to the fact there have already been a recall for this problem. no one i talk to at the dealer or on the phone to nissan would or could do anything about it. the internet has many write up about this problem that no one will do anything about. i guess they are waiting for someone to be badly injured or killed to take the problem serious.
