On average, the 2018 Jeep Wrangler starts to “feel” problems with the SUSPENSION and its various aspects after 8 689 miles.

Recently reported SUSPENSION problems on 2018 Jeep Wrangler

While driving on the highway, when the jeep hits a slight bump or bridge expansion joint the steering wheel and front end wobble excessively. this has occurred on five occasions. the vehicle was traveling at approximately 60 mph. on two of the occasions i needed to slow down to 40 mph for the wobble to stop. this is an 2018 jeep wrangler with no modifications. the first time this occurred the jeep had around 1500 miles on it. it currently has less than 3000 miles on it. the dealership replaced the steering damper. i have read other reports that this does not fix the problem, it only masks the true problem. i have not had the jeep on the highway since the part has been replaced. the other issue i have found with the jeep is a slight shaking in the steering wheel at speeds around 70 mph. you do not need to hit a bump for this to occur. there are numerous complaints regarding other owners with similar problems. please find a permanent solution.

Vehicle shakes and vibrates at highway speeds after a bump in the road is hit. once it was so violently and continuous that i had to pull over and stop the vehicle so the shaking would stop. i was told this is "death wobble" a known issue in jeep vehicles. because i lease this 2018 wrangler, i'd like know if there is a lemon law protecting me as a leasor so that i may exit my lease.

At freeway speeds when traversing bumps or expansion joints, violent front end shaking occurs until vehilcle speed is reduced below 45 mph. started occuring after vehilcle was past 10,000 miles.

On 1/2/2019 i was driving to work in the morning. the front end started wobbling rapidly after hitting a pothole on the highway. my speed was approximately 70 m.p.h. i took my foot off the accelerator and slowly braked. the wobble did not stop until i was around 55 m.p.h. i was not able to get out of the center lane because traffic was heavy and running past me in both lanes. this is the second time this occurred. the first time i just thought is was a fluke because i hit two potholes in a row. that happened about one month ago. i am making an appointment with my dealer for a service inspection. i have felt small wobbles since i got the vehicle. these two were sustained and only stopped after slowing to around 55 mph.

Was on the expressway and it started shaking terribly when i hit a bump. had to pull over. happened three times today. i've noticed it randomly on other rds but never this bad.

A very extreme vibration in the steering wheel occurs at certain times when an uneven road is encountered at highway speeds also known as death wobble. the steering damper was replaced and does not solve this issue. the vehicle must be pulled over to the emergency lane and a complete stop must occur before continuing on. until this proses has been completed it feels like the vehicle is loosing control by the operator. this usually occurs at a speed of 45 miles an hour on up.

While traveling on the freeway at speeds from 65-75 my jeep will start to 'death wobble' when you hit a bump or uneven spot on the road requiring me to decelerate or come to a complete stop. my vehicle has been back to the dealer 5 times since my purchase in nov of 2018. five different things have been replaced and one of the dampeners has been replaced twice now. it's been at the dealer for 3 weeks straight now. chrysler says that there is nothing that they can do at this time and referred me back to the dealer, the dealer suggested i get an attorney specializing in the lemon law. i have done so and also will be talking to the federal trade commission. so far i have lost a days work and five 30 mile trips to and from the dealership only to find out that the problem still persists. it's very dangerous to drive. the dealership said that the new ones will sometimes have a little 'wiggle' to them at times and i informed him that if i had know this i would not have bought it had i know this. i am very upset with chrysler at the moment . i have never had a problem out of my 2015 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited or my 2009 jeep ali wry. i am very disappointed in jeep.

Violent steering wheel shaking and front end steering shaking when driving over road imperfections over 60 mph. loose and wandering steering resulting in multiple steering corrections to remain straight in line on a flat straight and leveled surface. wrangler was in dealership for more than 40 days total for backordered parts and repairs. wrangler picked up today after 3rd visit. steering damper replaced for 2nd time. driver side shock absorber replaced. violent shaking has been resolved so far. but loose and indirect steering is still present. videos available upon request.

The jeep steering wheel and front end shake, at times violently. it should be noted there is no particular scenario for the occurrence, only when in motion, and is random.

While driving highway speeds and hitting a bump or going across a railroad track. i get sudden vibration in the front end end and through my steering wheel also known as the death wobble. very dangerous especially if going in a corner on an interstate.

On the highway while traveling straight ahead at speeds above 65 mph any time the vehicle is introduced to a bump, dip in the highway, transition to a bridge or change in pavement the steering wheel shakes violently and the vehicle is virtually uncontrollable. in order to get the vehicle to stop shaking speed must be reduced to 30 mph or lower. the vehicle is not drivable at highway speed as every bump, dip or road transition causes this symptom.

Violent shaking in the front end when hitting any bump in excess speeds of 50+mph

While driving on the interstate highway at approximately 70 mph when going over pot holes or bumps like ones at bridge crossings the steering loses control and vibrates and shakes. the driver has no control of the steering you must slow down to approximately 45 mph to regain control of the vehicle. one incident on the highway happened when we were switching lanes on the interstate at approximately 70 mph the road condition was smooth and as we merged into the left lane the steering vibrated and shook and temporally did not have control of the vehicle in till we slowed down to approximately 45 mph. the dealership that i purchased the vehicle from has after several attempts to repair the vehicle claimed they fixed it. this is not the case it is still a problem

The radio is being replaced for the second time. it has the start stop feature and it will go completely dead and require time to restart i was driving 60 mph and it started shaking violently and it has done in twice in two days. it is terrifying i had to pull off to the shoulder.

Steering and control drastically impaired when hitting a bump over 50 mph. car and steering wheel violently shake and causes me to lose control of the vehicle. car is stock with 0 modifications and less that 700 miles on it. whoever says this is not a safety concern is wrong. i nearly crashed on the highway going 55 mph. family will not drive with me in the car anymore due to issue. this is a brand new car. how can this be justified?

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 jeep wrangler. while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle traversed a pothole and experienced what was known as the death wobble. the contact was able to slow down the vehicle, which corrected the failure. the vehicle was taken to bill estes chrysler dodge jeep ram (located at 745 e 56th st, brownsburg, in 46112, (317) 620-5175) where it was diagnosed that the track bar or sway bar needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that the failure recurred five times. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Severe death wobble. violent shaking will not stop unless i pull over and come to a complete stop. this is extremely dangerous when on the highway.

Death wobble when hitting bumps on the highway above 60mph. i had to pull over and slow down to 45 mph for it to stop. dealer replaced the stabilizer with an aftermarket one since the replacement part is on backorder and the issue is still present.a steering stabilizer will not fix the issue, it only masks it. the vehicle has 1200 miles on it and is completely stock. their is something wrong with either the track bar joints or the steering geometry. fca will not admit the know its an issue.

Death wobble. 2x hit a lip in the freeway and front tires/suspension starts shaking. driving straight speed > 40 mph. i have logged complaint with my dealer jeep vann vineland nj delsea drive in nj.

My problem has been happening since mid-november. the problems is that at highway speeds if i hit a bridge joist or a seam in the highway, the steering wheel shakes violently back and forth and i have to slow down. the dealer and jeep have said it was the steering stabilizer, but i've had two replacements and the same thing continues to happen. it is especially bad if the bump is on a corner and one tire hits it before the other. i've almost lost control several times. this happens at speeds of around 45+ mph. it is definitely a scary situation.

Hit a bump on the interstate causing the steering and vehicle to shake uncontrollably. this only stopped when slowing down to approx 45 mph. this started at approx 60-65 mph.

Experiencing the death wobble while driving at high speeds and every bump or transition from highway to the overpass i get the wobble if i let off the gas it evens back out. i've also been experiencing some play in my steering wheel since i picked it up from the repair. i took it in for repair 12/12/18 (invoice 557959) and they replaced the steering damper. had it back less than a month and the death wobble was back. dropped it off 2 days ago just got a call and the steering damper is bad again and both tie rods are bad. it's less than a year old. i called back to have them check the track bar weld just in case since some have a recall on them.

Death wobble. every time i'm on the highway, 65-75mph, and go over a bridge or other slight bump. the steering wheel and entire car start shaking violently and i have to slow down to get it under control. i won't let my 18 year old child drive the jeep because of this. it's quiteviolent. i will put the most recent date, but it has happened several times. i'm not what one would describe as an uptight driver but this scared me. the jeep has had no modifications from date of purchase. tire pressure is equal and normal. the mileage is less than 8,000. i've had the car for 6minths

Violent shaking-seems like the front tires are alternating on and off the roadway at high speed. it happens after hitting a small uneven area on a highway while traveling at highway speeds (70). have to apply the brake to break it out of the shaking.(down to about 45mph). this is scary, i am a woman with children. the date below is just the last and the worst time it has happened. it's been back at the dealership for this a few weeks ago and taken back today for the same issue. i dont believe jeep knows what's wrong. the dealership is trying to find the problem.

My brand new 2018 wrangler jl has the "death wobble": when traveling at highway speeds and i hit a sharp bump, the front end shakes uncontrollably. i need to take my foot off the gas, get into the breakdown lane and go down to close to zero mph before the shaking stops, then i need to re-merge into traffic. very scary (i usually have family in car with me) and very dangerous. it's in the shop now. parts are on backorder and they won't release it to me until its fixed--i presume b/c its too dangerous. i experienced the death wobble 7 times between when i drove it off the lot and was able to secure an appointment with the dealer. *dt*jb

At highway speeds (60-80mph) the vehicle shakes violently after going over a bump or deformity in the road. has occurred on multiple occasions. everything shakes not just the steering wheel. lasts until vehicle speed reduces.

Tl* the contact owns a 2018 jeep wrangler. while driving high speeds, the vehicle violently vibrated. the vehicle was taken to preferred chrysler dodge jeep ram of muskegon (3146 henry st, muskegon, mi 49441, (877) 565-0628), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the damper needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 57,000.

I was driving the jeep on the highway going the speed limit of 65 mph and when changing lanes and hitting a bumpy part of the highway, the jeep began to shake vigorously. i had to slow down to 40 mph and pull off the side of the hwy. after this incident, anytime driving the jeep over 55 mph and hitting a bump, the jeep would shake. i would have to slow down below the speed limit for it to regain control. the jeep was taken into the service department and they installed a new "steering stabilizer". when traveling on the highway again going 65 mph, hitting a pothole, the jeep began to shake again. i was able to regain control when slowing down under the speed limit to 50/55 mph. this is not acceptable for a brand new car. i should be able to go the speed limit on the highway, hit a bump, and not feel as if my life is in danger. these cars need to be recalled before someone is seriously injured including myself and my passengers.

When traveling highway speeds typically between 70-75 and the jeep hits a bump. the entire car wobbles fairly significantly for a second or two. it stops wobbling when you take foot off the accelerator. the dealer examined the car and believes it to be safe. i have driven many jeeps over the years and never experienced this. it does not seem safe.

If the car was going over 60 and hit a bump, the steering wheel would shake uncontrollably also causing the tires and the whole car to be uncontrollable. would have to brake and try to get it back in control. happened 6 times since i purchased the car in september the lasdt time it happened it scared me because it took a little while to get control of the car. i took it to napleton jeep and as i was explaining the situation she stopped and said it was a safety issue meaning i needed to clean out the car and would not be able to drive it. she said they had a jeep there for over 25 days and she did not know when i would be getting it back. it was explained to me it is a steering wheel damper. over rated shock. i have called numerous times both the dealer and jeep. they have given me 3 different dates as to when the part will be in. none of those have come to forwishen. someone was going to call me and no one ever does.

Extreme shaking in the front end when hitting any bump in excess speeds of 50+mph

Violent shaking when on the highway. this occurs when i hit an uneven bump going around 70 mph. feels very dangerous and lasts for minutes. this forced me to slow down considerably on the highway.

Excessive / severe front wheel shake when hitting bumps, pot holes, etc. front wheels, along with the steering wheel will shake severely when hitting bumps at highway speeds. vehicle control is greatly impacted. front wheels and steering wheel will not stop shaking until vehicle is nearly brought to a complete stop. ability to keep control of the vehicle and stay within your lane requires extreme/extended braking at highway speeds. vehicle has been service by an authorized jeep service department. jeep recommended part(s) were replaced but the problem still exists.

Violent shake in steering wheel and the beginning of loss of control of the vehicle. specifically at highway speed when you drive over a bump such as a bridge expansion joint, the steering wheel will begin shaking back and forth violently. this resonates throughout the vehicle. it can continue for in excess of 15 seconds and i need to reduce the jeep's speed to less than 40mph, at which time the shaking generally stops. slowing to 40mph in highway traffic is dangerous to me and others on the highway. if in a low traction situation (such as snow) this would likely result in total loss of control of the jeep. this has been to the dealer 3 times for this problem. because the dealer is located in a rural area they have been unwilling to drive to a highway and therefore have not replicated the problem. the last time i went to the dealer i showed the dealership manager a video of this occurring, and he was appalled and said it should not happen and that i should call jeep customer care which i did. i have called on december 1,12,19,26 and 27. the case has been assigned to a case manager, but they have not called me. i have attempted to escalate to a manager, but i have told they are busy and nothing they can do, jeep has a serious safety issue with my car and they have to date refused to even call me back ( i have also confirmed my phone numbers each time i have called and had them recorded in the case record).

When hitting a bump on the highway (for example- bridge seams) at highway speeds (45 mph+) the jeep will shudder and shake, particularly the steering wheel & front end at times; sometimes when hitting a series of bumps the shuddering will intensify and is more difficult to stop. the only way to stop the shuddering is to slow down to speeds that are potentially unsafe on the highway - <30 mph.

Changing lanes on highway at 65 mph lost total control of front end. violent shaking and nearly crashed. steering wheel violently shaking and could not steer.

At 60 miles per hour on the interstate vehicle started violently shaking and vibrating. had to slow down and pull over. jeep only has 4300 miles and is stock with np modifications.

Jeep steering wheel and front end begin shaking violently when a small bump is struck at higher speeds. this forces the driver to slow to unsafe speeds on the freeway potentially creating accidents.. jeep currently will not correct the problem, but only allows the dealership to replace the steering damper, which fails within the same week.

Hi, i purchased a 2018 jeep wrangle jlu new from you dealership and i have been having several significant issues with it recently. the most concerning is several issues with the steering. at highway speeds if you hit a bump like an expansion joint ; the steering wheel shakes aggressively and causes you to temporarily lose control of the jeep and you have to slow down for it to self correct. it is similar to death wobble in a lifted jeep but this one is stock. also, with the colder weather the steering wheel is not turning freely at highway speeds. it is almost as if the power steering randomly turns off but the wheel is even more difficult to turn. the steering goes back to normal at slow speeds. and finally the radio and touch screen are not working properly. the fm radio randomly completely loses signal and can not find stations. randomly even with the volume all the way up to 30 you can barely hear the radio. several times the screen has made a pop noise and then just turned off. the blue tooth intermittently fails.

Death wobble while driving on the highway, hit a small bump at 65 mph and the vehicle shook until i slowed down. continued on and it happened again. will take the vehicle back to the dealer tomorrow. 3000 on the jeep.

Was driving on interstate. going about 60 mph steering wheel locked up and began to shake aggressively. had no control of vehicle. had to apply brakes and get it down to 40 mph before steering will unlock. vehicle now in jeep dealership with no resolution. in addition i've had shooting pain don back from aggressive shaking.

While driving at hwy speeds and hitting a bump in the road the front right of the jeep start to wobble violently. the only way to stop it is to slow down to 35-40 mpr. this is very dangerous to do in the middle of the hwy. initially felt like a flat tire. i brought it to the dealership and they can not replicate the wobble and checked "everything" this happened at high speeds, 5 people in the car and dog in the bag. i am disappointed that there is not a fix for this especially in a new model jl. i purchased brand new in june and have made no modification to the jeep.if someone was to panic during this event it could be life threatening.

Death wobble . at highway speeds when hit a bump the front end shakes violently you then have to slow down to 40 mph to make it stop. the vehicle is brand new and has only 1,200 miles on it. it is going to the shop for round 2 of repairs which i am sure will not remedy the issue. it has the jeep death wobble and we don't feel safe driving it .

Any description of the jeep death wobble i have read is exactly what i am experiencing. i experienced my first incident while driving my 2018 jeep wrangler unlimited that i had purchased two months earlier. at highway speed's between 70 and 75 miles an hour if the vehicle hits a bump or a joint in a bridge well often begin to wobble and become almost violence. it will subside plan decreasing speed or holding the speed for about a mile or so. i brought it in to the jeep service department and they said they see nothing wrong with the vehicle. i am at the point now where i can almost make it happen on command. my next step is to bring the mechanic in for a test drive with me. from what i've read i expect nothing to be done to help me out. i will also note that there are no modifications whatsoever to my car.

'death wobble' this has now happened multiple times when traveling on the highway. when i am over 70mph and hit a bump the steering wheel shakes violently until i slow down. i almost feel like i am going to lose control and have had to pull over on the side of the highway to get this to correct itself. this needs fixed.

Death wobble due to defective part

Last week, i drove over highway expansion joints while traveling at highway speed. my steering wheel began to shake violently and the entire front end began to shimmy and wobble. i immediately moved from the passing lane, through the center lane, to the far right lane. there, after reducing speed, the shaking stopped. i experienced this same problem this week while traveling on interstates at highway speed, 5 times within the same trip. the shaking began after hitting a seemingly small imperfection in the road. the first time, the wobbling and shaking must have been visible from the exterior as the car behind me dropped back and those to the right of me cleared the way for me to move over. the other four times were not as severe and the shaking stopped after i reduced speed. i called the jeep dealership and spoke with the service department from the road to see if they had heard of this problem and to see if the car was safe to drive. the service rep claimed to have never heard of this issue and attributed it to a tire balance problem, although i assured him it was not. when i arrived at my destination, i researched the issue on the internet and found a problem called "jeep death wobble" that perfectly describes my experiences. videos posted on youtube also matched what had occurred. i plan to take my jeep in for service when i return home. date listed below is most recent incident and the day i contacted the dealership.

'death wobble' experienced again. traveling over 70mph on the pa turnpike and hit a small bump when my steering wheel began to shake violently. i had to pull off the side of the rode to fix the problem. i have a stock 2018 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara. i had a stock 2015 jeep wrangler unlimited sahara prior to this and never experienced this issue. it is very dangerous.

14000 miles. purchased in march. experiencing death wobble at speeds over 67mph and driving over a pot hole, bridge connection or something in the road. has almost caused 2 accidents. dealer cannot diagnose but thinks it could be steering stabilizer, camber, steering box. no parts will be available until 2019.

I leased my wrangler october 28 2018. within two weeks i got what is called the 'death wobble' the steering shakes uncontrollably and the front tires shake side to side when you hit a bump going over 50mph. took vehicle in to dealer. after waiting over two weeks steering damper was replaced. two months later same issue. took back to dealer new steering damper put on along with what they said was 'other issues ' i now know they also replaced the track bar. two weeks later same issue. took to another dealer whom i heard delt with this more. they again replaced the track bar. two days later same issue. i filed a complaint with the manufacturer. they say it doesn't fall in the lemon law. i have no answers and am forced to drive an unsafe vehicle under 45mph. i have no answers and the dealership says there is nothing they can do.
