Recall # 09v119000 recall date 04/09/2009 suspension: front: control arm and recall # 06v288000 recall date 08/03/06 suspension lower ball joint. vehicle has had problems driving with speeds over 15mph. heavy vibration and uneasy driving. dealer made a repair on one lower ball joint to satisfy recall but the problem is returning. i was informed that the recalls do not include my vin. the recalls are year and model specific. if the vehicle recall affected one control arm lower ball joint it should also apply to the other side. ball joints should be replaced in sets. both upper and lower control arm ball joints are part of these recalls. this can be a very dangerous situation for any driver if dealers can use vin number to disclaim necessary recalls on vehicles.

Heat is not working it throws out cool/cold air. i have noticed that there have been many liberty owners with the same complaint. it is a pain since i have two young children and the car is so cold you can see everyone's breath. i've had the radiator flushed and had a few things checked and still no heat. over the summer i had the a/c fixed because it started throwing out hot air. this seems to be a common problem with this car and i'm surprised it has not been recalled. the car is driven on a daily basis in new jersey. car is mostly driven on city streets and ocasional highway. my jeep was taken to the dealer for recalls, but looking for recalls to see if there was anything for the heat i noticed there was a recall for the control atms/bushings. i was never told about this recall and nothing was done at the dealer. last month driving one of my bushings broke while i was driving and i lost a wheel.

The lower ball joint sheared off causing the wheel to fall causing the bottom of the ball joint to land on the rim. thus cutting the rim all the way around it off and puncturing the tire. thus causing the vehicle to slide to a stop at 50 miles an hour with a skid mark. thus having to call for a tow truck to pick it up. luckily no one was hurt. the vehicle was on a off ramp of a freeway to a on ramp over pass of another freeway.

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 jeep liberty. while making a right turn at 5 mph, the contact heard an abnormal noise. it was discovered that the lower ball joint fractured and the wheel was bent at a 45 degree angle. the vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2002 jeep liberty. while driving 7 mph, the driver's side ball joint fractured. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 127,000.

Well where do i start. since i have purchased this vehicle in may of 2016 i have replace multiple parts ,but they weren't part of any recalls. but now my concern reviewing recalls for this vehicle and trying to address these numerous defects . i'm almost fed up. my main cover is the j17 recall for the upper control arm ball joint of which a chrysler representative advideo my my vehicle was part of ,which i clueless on how as the recall doesn't specify other than 2002 to 2003 liberty vwhiles . now i show that they were replaced in the past and now they since are worn in the same description they were recalled in . and chrysler denies responsibility (?) .. also other concerns with the catylic converter causing a sulfur smell when the vehicle is going up hill aso well as towing . one more thing is numerous online forum about the engine ticking being normal and unfixable other then to replace the engine . now all this plus the multiple parts i have already replaced a vehicle less then 15 years on the market needed a in other words fully restoration is unacceptable. especially when i have stock 1948 jeep that need less repairs than this .

After an inspection it was found that my upper control arms & ball joints are no good from mostly corrosion .i have 73000 miles on this truck. doing re search i find a recall for this exact same problem. the recall states that this problem is registration specific to salt belt usage. again i qualify for that part as well.the recall is j 17 and in calling jeep there telling me about the vin but not about the salt belt state useage .the arms do not corrode in fla but they do in ny . the ball joint and arm need replacement this is clearly a manufacture defect of the part exposed to salt. calling jeep is worthless called nhsta same result

I was driving down the highway and i don't really remember the moment before the accident but i lost control of my car and hit the median barricade head on and from there my car kept going across the highway off to the grass area. i was the only one injured and taken to the hospital. my car is ruined and i faced a broken nose, back, knee, knock, head, and shoulder brushing and pain, and now i keep having a short term memory on some occasions. i also get nauseated when k get in a vehicle and get terrified when i'm with someone driving down the street. i have no vehicle at the time, it's been almost two and a half months and i haven't had any help with anything. i am a full time college student working a part time job, my sister or boyfriend have to take me to work and school, it's getting pretty tiring for them to take me everywhere. i work about 15 minutes away from my home and it's difficult for them to take me when they have school and work on those days. the air bags in my jeep did not deploy, it went in for the recall and you can literally see the sensors, the clearly should have deployed. my jeep had no engine or air bag codes of any kind.. so why didn't they go off?! i'm terrier that im going to loose my job and not afford to pay rent or bills. *tr

My 2002 jeep liberty experienced a front control arm failure. now im told that it is not covered on a recall that covered this problem on a recall covering other 2002 models. i can not find anyone to give me an answer why? if this would of happened while driving on the highway this couldof caused loss of steering and could of caused a crash. my main question is, if 43489 vehicles were recalled for the same problem, why isn't my vehicle covered. *tr

Got a flat tire and noticed that my two front tires were wearing extremely unevenly (both tires looked fine on outside, really worn on inside). been noticing some slipping in the steering wheel for about a month, getting worse throughout the month. aaa came to fix the tire and said the ball joint looked bad and that they "see this all the time on these vehicles." i had already had f23 done on this car which was supposed to fix the lower ball joints but probably didn't and noticed there was a recall called j17 which covers the upper ball joints which for some reason didn't apply to my vehicle because it was built in may 2001 and the affected vehicles were built may-sept 2002. i suspect my vehicle should have been part of that recall, especially after what aaa said and what they said at the repair shop, that they see faulty ball joints on these all the time. why was my defective car not included? did jeep really make the cars worse after may 2002 or is it more likely mine had the same problem? this omission has led to an extremely hazardous condition and unreliable steering. i have had nothing but problems with this car since we bought it a year ago. a/c evaporator went bad out of nowhere, hit a bump which caused one of my brakes to snap, something that's inexcusable with an suv, it's just repair after repair. *tr

These jeep liberty's are known for there poor suspensions. the one on this vehicle is no different. the lower ball joints were recalled in 2006. 25000 miles later they are no good again. even though it has been eight years, this should not happen. i did find the problem before there was a serious incident. the upper and lower ball joints are both in need of repair. a lot of these jeep liberty's were recalled for there ball joints but they all should be recalled and repaired with something better. *tr

When turning right on the corner from phebe ln in slc, ut. into 1700 e. going at 10 mph i heard a loud noise. i was able to stir the car next to the sidewalk. i exit the vehicle to see what happened and i saw that the wheel was separated from the car. i called the towing truck to have the car towed to the repair shop. the diagnosis was the lower front ball joint and the axle got separated from the vehicle. i was really lucky because i was driving with my 9 year old girl and we had just arrived from park city, ut. into slc. and if the ball join separation occurred when i was going down and 65 mph the scenario could be much more different. *js

Driving down street with no stop signs out of corner of eyes i saw a silver car speeding through a stop sign luckily i saw it early and slammed on my brakes, we hit very hard i hit steering wheel my passenger was injured too, my question is im reading that 2002 jeeps airbags go off easily why didn't mine go off, i bought the car when it was 1 year old but never checked if it had any accidents, its suppose to have airbags in the front and passenger seat, could the dealer have sold me a defective jeep. the other driver was speeding causing to hit very hard, why didn't the airbag deploy which would have saved me from hitting the steering wheel (i cant remember what else i hit all i know is i was taken in ambulance to emergency room my passenger drove to emergency room cause she didn't want to be put on as board she has a plate in her hip we are both 64 years old. if my car was defective when i bought it in 2003 i need to do something about it. im reading that those 2002 airbags go off very easily why didn't mine. We were traveling southbound on i75 at a speed of only approximately 15mph due to a car accident ahead of us. all of sudden my car dropped and i heard a scrap of metal against asphalt. i slowly pulled car over to center median and got my children to the center of the guardrails to keep them safe. upon expecting vehicle, i noticed that the wheel on the passenger front side of the vehicle was turned away from the car, the molding was detached and the metal that holds the wheel in place was sitting on the roadway. we had to wait for over 3 hours for a tow truck due to needing a tow truck that had a lift, not a flatbed. by the time the tow truck arrived, the dealership was closed and we had to be towed to a repair shop that could have the repairs completed for us by saturday afternoon. it turned out to be the ball joint nut fell off of the bolt that holds it in place. the entire ball joint needed to be replaced as well as lubricated. the repair person checked the other side and suggested we take to have inspected, as it did not have a cotter pin to hold the nut onto the ball joint assembly. the total cost for the replacement was $240. because of our speed, no one was hurt. due to the facts known about the jeep liberty, i was thankful we were not traveling at the posted speed limit of 70mph or we would have had a vehicle turn over and possible injuries or death. i have photos as well as receipts showing this issue. *tr

I just got off of the highway and was heading to the gas station. made the right turn and the vehicle on the right side jerked to the ground and hit hard. put it in park and got out of the vehicle and checked the tires to see if one was blown. noticed fender above front passenger side tire was off and my ball joint arm was on the ground. the lower ball joint came completely off. it was not rusted and was well lubricated. had to pay for a tow to haul it to my parents house. i need to know if chrysler is going to repair my vehicle. *tr

While attempting to park to get gas, turned the steering wheel and heard a strange noise. my husband was outside of the jeep and noticed that something was hanging fromthe right front tire. had it towed to nearest auto shop and was told that the upper control arm and lower ball joints had broken. had it repaired. called the chrysler recall center and was told that there was a recall on the lower ball joints. we were then instructed to get the original invoice and receipt to prove that the repairs were done. we were told to call back to receive instructions on where to fax the papers. called back later that day to get a fax number and was told that we could not be reimbursed because we didn't take it to a jeep dealership. we were told that we had not called and talked to anyone earlier and that we could not be reimbursed. after staying on phone and on hold for about 30 minutes, the representative gave more instruction on information to send to the chrysler recall assistance center. i have gather my information and voiced my concerns. i was told to mail my information and that it would take up to 60 days for a decision to be made. we are not trying to get over on anyone. just imagine if i was on the interstate going 70 mph with my kids and husband in the car and the joints broke. the chrsyler corporation will be dealing with a lot more then a $1000 repair bill. i feel that if there are recalls on these vehicle, everyone should be notified and it be corrected before some one gets hurt or loose a life. *tr
