Recently reported POWER TRAIN problems on 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Received two recalls, have been going to dealer for over 8 months to get them done, contacted jeep manufacturer, still no parts received. dealer says they have not received parts and to keep checking in, which i've persistently been doing for eight months to the point of frustration. it has been almost a year since the last two recalls were stated.in the meantime my defective parts continue to malfunction if used. an efficient and timely manner to get the recalls done has not been conducted by jeep and by fca us llc.

After only 21000 miles and regular maintenance at the dealership, my check engine light came on. the dealer would not book me a service appointment any sooner than one week out. two days after the check engine light illuminated, as i was driving on a city street to work, a "service transmission" warning appeared and the vehicle immediately became unresponsive. even switching to tiptronic and no matter how much the gas pedal was depressed, i was not able to accelerate nor have the engine rpm move beyond 1000 rpm. i was lucky that i chose not to take the highway to work or i would have been rear-ended with the car slowing down so much.

The car lurches and shifts indiscriminately while starting and stopping. this occurs while driving at lower speeds. once on the "open road" it seems to be ok.

The automatic 9-speed transmission shifts poorly up and down gears 1,2,3. in stop and go traffic i cannot rely on the car to safely and soothingly allow me to aggressively make necessary lane changes. for example, when attempting to change form a congested lane to an adjacent faster moving lane the car may momentarily hesitate as i am depressing the gas pedal. after the hesitation the car now responds to the over depressed gas pedal position and lurches forward (>4000 rpm on the tach) at an unsafe rate. often times i am forced to brake hard and return/remain in the congested lane in order not to riskily pull out in front of cars approaching from the rear is the less congested lane. to minimize the problems with the lower gears, jeep reprogrammed the transmission in may of 2015 to remain in 3rd gear through to about 5 mph as the car decelerates towards a stop. for example, the car remains in third gear when making a slow rolling stop at a stop sign. this reprogrammed 'fix' can cause problems when trailering my boat. if i'm forced to slow down prior to a hill the car will remain in 3rd gear and when i'm attempting to accelerate while encountering the moderate uphill grade the car eventually and unexpectedly aggressively up-shift and again lurches forward at >4000 rpm. i seems there is no software fix and now i'm stuck with a poor performing, annoying and sometimes dangerous drive train. if i were wealthy i would get rid of the car. in good conscious i would not sell my car privately. i'd lose to much money if i traded it in at a dealer for a different car.

This zf 9 spd transmission is the worst thing invented. it shifts eractic, rough, clunky, and slips. told dealer about it, had it in for software update, still doing the same. i will trade it away as soon as i can.

Transmission disengages while driving. display on dashboard say put car in "p" and restart vehicle. after doing what the display states, it goes into drive forcefully and makes a load bang. the engine light comes on along the traction control light. after letting the vehicle sit over night and doesn't occur again for about another 10-15 k miles later. this issue created an unsafe condition. all the times this occurred i almost was rear ended, couldn't make turn to a safe pull off area and happened on a on-ramp entering a highway.

Car lost power in motion on a highway. the car did not respond to stepping on the gas. had to stop the car in the shoulder of a ramp and wait for tow truck. when changing from park to drive gears, the car made a clicking noise, but did not respond. this is actually the second time it happens - first time the official jeep service said they could not find the issue and felt confident in releasing the car.

Takata recall while in motion the jeep makes a strong jerk when accelerating from 1st to 2nd gear. it is very rough to drive.

I keep having hard shifts that jolts my car forward while braking and accelerating. when it does this it make a loud noise and pushes the car forward a little. i have been having this problem for over a year even after i have taken it to the dealer for recalls on the transmission.

I didn't know just how quirkily sensitive this vehicle would become to starting off; especially after fca started recalls for transmission software updates. this (r01) was completed on the vehicle, (march 2015 at 17,399 miles). until i got rid of the vehicle in may 2016 it became a crap-shoot as to how the vehicle would respond to acceleration from either a full or rolling stop. in may 2015 (20,362 miles), i had my first transmission failure after making a turn from a full stop. there were service transmission and parking brake warnings. i stopping, put the vehicle into park and turned off the ignition. i was able to restart and engage the transmission and drive to dealership. diagnoses found multiple stored codes related to the trans flash recall. in august 2015, (23,861 miles) there was the 2nd incident when the transmission locked into 2nd gear while going down a winding road and remained so until we were on flatter ground. the dealer reprogrammed the transmission control module. 25 days later (aug 31, 2015 and 24,174 miles) the vehicle was back in the shop when the 'service shifter and transmission' indicators came on. diagnoses found dtcs p0978 and u0402, whatever that means. i filed a complaint with fca jeep customer service (case #27729231) on september 2, 2015. they offered no solution or resolution. in may 2016, (34,833 miles) while driving up a winding hill at about 40 mph the vehicle went into neutral and would not engage any gear other than park. i proceeded to put the vehicle in park, turn-off the ignition, restart the vehicle, and engage the transmission which never got out of 3rd gear on the drive to a jeep dealer. they refer to this as 'limp' mode, which tells me a lot about what fca knew of their transmission problems. they found and replaced a faulty transmission valve body which facilitates electronic transmission shifting from one gear to another.

Transmission failed, starting to work and selected drive and a huge clank! would not go into any gear. tow truck, dealership for repairs. it was a solenoid in the transmission that had failed.

The transmission in my 2014 jeep cherokee will slip into neutral at slow speeds, will not downshift when passing a vehicle but instead bogs down and loses acceleration, many times it will start in the wrong gear not downshifting all the way to first when slowing to near stop and accelerating up again. transmission is jerky between shifts on highway as well as accelerating from a stopped position. when shifting gears the automatic transmission just kind of drags from one gear the the next in a long drawn fashion instead of shifting crisply like it should. i have had a couple close calls at intersections with the car slipping out of gear as i am entering traffic. also had a near miss yesterday changing lanes to pass a semi truck when my cherokee just bogged down in front of it instead of having a smooth acceleration to pass him. at the last instant the car finally grabbed the gear it was hunting for and i was able to clear the near miss. i have been to jeep service where they have admitted to knowing of all these issues and are at a loss to find a fix. they have used flash updates three times without success. after my last visit for the latest update which they practically guaranteed would fix my issue...i was contacted by service and told my software was not compatible with their update and that they now want to put in a new transmission. i have been involved with chrysler diamond service for months asking them to replace the car or arrange to give me a fair trade on the car thinking they would take some responsibility and they have denied my request. i actually bought two cherokees in 2014..the first one showed these transmission issues, so i traded it for another one absorbing a loss with hopes that a different cherokee would get me out from under the problems, but sure enough the second one has the same issues so i lost all that trade value for nothing.

There is a vibrating sound coming from the center of the steering wheel. you can feel it when touching the center of the steering wheel. the vehicle is in motion when this happens have taken it in 4 times to be repaired it still is doing the same thing. the transmission stopped and would not go after turning the engine off and restarting it it would go but lights still on. had it towed to dealer.

Vehicle lost power in the middle of a busy intersection. the throttle control warning light, and the check engine light came on. this is a very serious safety hazard as two vehicles almost collide with me due to the sudden loss of power and stalling.

After starting my vehicle first thing in the morning, i drive less than a 1/4 mile, my jeep will suddenly lose power and stall. this happens in traffic and i become a traffic hazard in heavy traffic. the vehicle tells me to put the shifter in "park" and once i do and attempt to restart the vehicle, it usually takes several attempts, but it will start. due to the issue, vehicles stack up behind me, others attempt to go around me, and when the vehicle does regain power, it chugs along for another 1/4 mile before it seems to be running normally. my vehicle only has 26,000 miles on it, and i should not be experiencing this issue. i am bound to get hit in traffic when my vehicle loses sudden power the way that it does. i lose power steering, and at this point, i am unsure if the air-bags would operate due to the power loss.

2014 jeep cherokee bought in december 2014 500miles. shortly after purchase, car shifting erratically, lunging forward at stops, and not accelerating when stepping on gas appropriately. on the way to work one day, car bogged down in traffic, turned off, would not turn back on for over 30 minutes, trying to start all lights and check engine warnings were going haywire. car finally started, got to work, but car did not start up again after my shift, had to have car towed to dealer. they did updates and computer resets, picked up vehicle, only for vehicle to shut down on the lot, they took it back in ,and kept it over night. they felt they fixed the problem, but again on the way to work, car still shifting dangerously, lunging forward, and has shut down again. even while in a drive thru, car lunged forward almost hitting another car in front of me. car taken back into dealer, again they completed a ton of recalls, and updates, some repeated form the last few times, i took the car in. the car has been in the shop 5-6 times now, with 2 claims escalated to jeep/chrysler. i am pregnant, and with the car shutting down in the middle of traffic is extremely, lunging forward, shifting erratically, and bogging down while on highway has only brought fear to my safety, the safety of my pregnancy, and the safety of others driving around me, as i hope this can be fixed before something horrible happens. i have requested to claims that the car be replaced, or be issued a buy back, safety is my main concern ! this vehicle is no good< and should not be driven or resold !

A couple months after purchasing my car brand new i got a flat tire for no reason. the sensor had to be replaced as well and it took over a week to change my tire. the dealership was awful and the jeep roadside assurance took 6 hours to get to me for a tow, i complained to no avail. next my transmission was acting weird. accelerating and decelerating without me gassing or braking. took it in and no one took me seriously. december 2015 my cars transmission disengaged on the highway at night. thankful i could pull over to the side. got it towed to jeep they said the transmission module needed to be replaced but there was no real fix because the software to fix it hasn't been created yet. so basically we're going to put a faulty part back in your car and cross our fingers it works. yesterday 4/11/16 the exact thing happened on the highway but in the mid morning. again i was able to veer off with no power safely but was in a bad spot on the highway with cars racing past me and not moving over or slowing down. definitely a stressful experience. got towed again and the maintenance were so relaxed about it. they didn't care at all even though this was my second problem in less than 6 months. turns out it was the same problem and they fixed it in one day because they have transmission modules in stock. one can only assume it's because many owners are coming in to get them replaced. i'm am looking into lemon laws and suggest everyone with this problem does the same.

Purchased the 2014 jeep cherokee june 2014. at 7,000 miles it started banging into gear from 2nd to 3rd. brought it in a few times within that year and they couldn't duplicate the condition but reflased the tcm unit several times. after changing dealerships months later the following year in 2015 i addressed the problem to them. same thing in which the problem couldn't be duplicated. in february another trip to the dealership and this time they found the defect in the transmission valve body. the repair was made. april 7 2016 back to the dealership with the same similar problem. this time they replaced the transmission. now the problem is with delayed downshifting while changing lanes mostly. i was almost rear ended with my son driving on his driving permit. that was very close. he even expressed his concern of the vehicle not responding to a downshift. he now is reluctant to drive my jeep. it has become a hazardous situation while driving. sometime in september i will address the issue in the delayed downshifting problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep latitude (na). while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle stalled and was unable to restart. the next day, while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle hesitated and made an abnormal noise. in addition, all the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil ran to the sensor map and the bcm, fault map sensor, and aero shield needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the hesitation recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 20,192.

Bought this at steve jones jeep in owensboro ky in may of 2014. i took it back to them 4 times complaining about transmission shifting erratically. this is a similar complaint that i have read over and over about on this site and other forums. jeeps response is to do an other software download. they did 2-3 software reloads but said it was running normal and there was nothing they could do. i have learned to deal with it for last 1.5 years. it has days where it shifts really rough other days it is great. my friends joke with me whether my car is having a good or bad day, seriously! sounds funny but it has been really aggravating. every once in a while it stalls when coming to a stop at stop signs/lights, or when taking off. to restart have to remove key and then it usually restarts fine. this morning it seemed to be running fine, i pulled out of subdivision and it stalled in middle of road. i tried restarting and it wouldn't, could hear fuel pump up and engine turned over then starter disengaged. during this i was nearly hit by a on coming car. i push if to side of road. after 8th or 9th try it finally started. it had a red warning "service transmission" and engine light on. it stalled several more times after putting in gear. it felt like it was stuck in 3rd gear. i shut it off for 10 minutes then restarted it and warnings were gone and it drove normal to work. coming home it also stalled once while leaving work. today was the first time this has happened that it nearly caused a major accident. i really fear this problem will end up in my death, i will end up killed in an accident because of a software glitch. i made another appointment foe this saturday at dealer but i already know what the out come will be. they will reload the software and there will be no change. i can not afford to buy another vehicle but after this morning i feel i have to do something.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact stated that the gears hesitated to shift without warning. the dealer had replaced the hydraulic pressure sensor and a valve but the failure continued. the contact was later notified of nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train) but the dealer had not yet received the remedy and part so the contact was unable to determine when the manufacturer may provide a solution for the repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was waiting for the recall repair to be completed. the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect.

I'm a us diplomat working in la paz, bolivia. i purchased my 2014 jeep cherokee, march 2015 in florida prior to departing for bolivia. i've had the vehicle for one year and currently has approximately 22,000 miles. on april 3, 2016 my jeep cherokee lost power and failed to respond to any of the driving commands such as reverse or drive. luckily i was still in my driveway when this happened. during the safety incident, the transmission service message come on to include the other service indicators i.e. check engine light. i took the jeep to a local mechanic as la paz, bolivia does not have a certified jeep dealership with a service department. the mechanic ran through all systems diagnostics and upgraded the software, temporarily fixing the problem. on april 16, 2016 my jeep cherokee lost power once more and this time i was driving up a 9 percent hill. luckily the person behind me quickly reacted to my safety issue and swerved out of the way to avoid a collision. however, i was stuck on an incline as the vehicle did not have enough power to make it to the top of the hill. i had to drive the vehicle in reverse to get to the bottom of the hill creating a huge traffic jam and putting my life endanger as i avoided incoming traffic. i took the vehicle to the mechanic on april 18, 2016 and he spent two days trying to figure out the problem but, with no luck; because on april 20, 2016 the safety issue occurred once again. due to the steep hills in la paz which are from 9 - 30 percent grades, i cannot safely drive my vehicle. i have a $24k piece of equipment sitting in my driveway because i refuse to put my life, my families or other people's life in danger. i cannot stress this enough losing power on any driving environment albeit on a highway or driving up a hill is a serious safety issue.

Transmission shifts unpredictably and rough. can feel like being rear-ended on a 2-3 shift while acceleration from a stop can feel like the transmission is slipping - engine revs go up but vehicle barely moves. these issues cause the vehicle to not respond as expected and have almost caused several accidents. these issues occur at low speeds, whether you are turning or not.

Vehicle will often surge when i'm trying to stop. i look for it now but it can still catch me off guard and it is difficult to stop sometimes. feels like i won't be able to stop in time. jeep also shifts real hard sometimes, causing vehicle to jerk hard. strange revving noises when accelerating. i took vehicle to dealer that i bought it from, they charged me for recall and said they did the work. it has been a year and chrysler is showing that the recall work has not been done. case #32715454 but no refund and it seems that they have done nothing about the dealer. fca customer assistance center

Intermittent rough and delayed shifting, will suddenly just shut off while driving. have taken it to the dealership on three different occasions for the shifting issues, they did some updates to the software but that still hasn't fixed the issue. car has suddenly stopped in the middle of the road while driving.

Same transmission problem been to get fixed 4 times now waiting on a recall wiring harness that is out yet. car has been at dealer shop more then i have drove it . jeep stalls in traffic hard to get started back. then some times if just goes into neutral while driving but most of time it won't shift right and won't go over 25 when this happen. it good when on interstate my wife wont drive it now cause she do t feel safe after it stalled in the middle of the road mutable times.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. the contact noticed a burning odor under the hood and, within seconds, the engine caught fire. there were no injuries. the fire department extinguished the fire and stated that it initiated at the transmission area. the vehicle was towed for further inspection. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 30,000. ..updated 05/17/16 *bf *tr

Ok i have a 2014 jeep cherokee limited with front wheel drive . only has under 54000 miles on it i am experiencing transmission problems especially in reverse it's extremely loud and rumbles constant while in reverse . also while in drive once moveing it bucks but eventually starts to go away after a lil while. but i also loose power i'll have to put the pedal to the floor the accelerator and i move extremely slowly then it will eventually kick in and have a very hard time going up large hills all hills really and it struggles to get up it like has a lot of lack of power i've put my jeep in the shop numerous times and have had major work done to it. one of them that was costly was the car would not read that it was in park so i couldn't shut the car off i love the jeep product but i hate this one it needs to be recalled. thanks

Jeep only has 31,000 miles and we have already had it back to the dealership several time to get the service transmission problem fix only to take it back a month later for the same problems of just sticking in a gear or not going into any gear at all and hard shifting.

While driving my jeep in speeds 5 mph to 20 mph, the transmission shifts hard and lunges, there are delays in engagement causing my car to hesitate when i press the accelerator, then suddenly it engages and lunges. it is dangerous pulling out into traffic. this has been a problem from about 5,000 miles on the vehicle. each time i bring it to the jeep service department, they say they did an update to the software, but i continue to have problems. jeep service department technicians tell me that chrysler is aware of this issue and my jeep is defective. however, they also say there is no way to fix it. i filed a complaint with chrysler complaint department and nothing happened. they told me that there is no record of my jeep having transmission problems and they are unaware that this is a known issue. i was told not to bring my jeep into the service department anymore for transmission problems. when i purchased my vehicle, i paid for a lifetime warranty, but the transmission problem is now excluded. my local jeep dealership omitted information from my service records to show that my jeep has no transmission issues, and chrysler complaint department is backing them up on it.

My jeep was traveling at 55 mph on a state road when it lost power and had to be steared/coast to the side of the road. had we been on an interstate this would have caused an accident, injury or death. the dealer claims nothing is wrong with the car and ready to release it to me today 3/29/16 to continue driving as a safe vehicle. in addition, the entire dashboard electronics had to be replaced at 8800 miles, the wiper blades fail, stall, or go off the side frame off the windshield during use causing hazardous driving conditions and reduced visibility, , the key remote fails (not due to dead battery) , the bluetooth reliability is intermittent which nulls the hands-free option for phone use while driving, the front and rear defrost did not work causing reduced visibility while driving in early morning hours and was repaired or replaced at 8800 miles, a rotational squeal was reported at 8800 miles and dealer claimed they could not duplicate. 5 months later, the noise continued. after i wrote them directions and sat with them, they replaced a faulty water pump on 4/21/15. the heat deflector shield and the resonator was replaced on 5/21. the car was towed to the dealer after the recent transmission failure. i will not drive the car again and risk the safety of my family or others.

Transmission shifting is erratic and rough. flat spots in acceleration. occasionally transmission has jumped to neutral. had transmission firmware reflashed per manufacturer service bulletins. dealer says nothing else they can do at this point.

My jeep cherokee 2014 has 21181 mileage and the check engine light came on .i notice that the car was shifting into gear hard and at times would not accelerate when getting on the freeway . so my husband took it to get the oil changed at the dealership where we bought the jeep and they said everything looked good. well when my husband left all the dummy lights came on he turned right around and went back to the dealership ,the service manager came out and said the tech put the wrong oil filter on and that they would have to redo the oil change . on a month later the check engine light comes on so we call the dealership and ask if maybe them putting the wrong filter on that i would cause the check engine light to come on .the service manager said no that we would have to take it to jeep . it is still under warranty because it is under the mileage .but i looked on the complaint forum and seen many people having the same problem some having a hard time getting chrysler to help them . and almost all of them having the transmission replaced . i find that to be very disturbing considering i have only had the car for 8 months . i feel that the car should be replaced this is a dangerous situation that could cost lives . thank you .tacoma wa *tr

My transmission has 9 gears and can be used in the automatic or manual modes. when in the manual mode and when shifting from 5th to 4th gear the car free wheels or acts as though it is in neutral and gains speed going down hill. this occurs continually. this does not happen in any other gear. when down shifting, the rpms go up and the speed slows down except for 5th to 4th gear. i brought this up to the local jeep dealer and they said that this is normal and will not fix it. i brought this to the attention of the local dealer twice. they also said that all cherokees are this way. they even tested another cherokee from the lot and it did the same thing. in addition, they said the chrysler 200 models do this also.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving 15 mph, the vehicle jerked and independently shifted into a lower gear. the vehicle was taken to lithia chrysler jeep dodge of billings (2229 king ave w, billings, mt 59102), but the dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer asked the contact to bring the vehicle back. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was taken back to lithia dodge a third time, but the cause of the failure still could not be diagnosed. during the fourth visit to the dealer, it was diagnosed that the throttle position sensor failed and needed to be replaced. however, the diagnosis was later revised to state that the vehicle needed a software update. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and contacted the dealer. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

I got a service parking brake message on the screen, the jeep just stopped moving, engine still runs but will not shift gears. once in heavy traffic! i turned the engine off and back on, i got a service transmission message. i put the jeep in gear and it moved only have a loud jerk. it was towed to the dealer. they kept the car 2 days and called to tell me it was fixed. i picked it up and drove it one day, the next morning the exact same problem happened. i turned the engine off and back on and slowly drove it to the dealer. this time it stayed in the dealer's shop for 5 days. this vehicle is very unsafe. when the error message flashes on the screen the jeep does not move, it does not coast to a stop so you can pull out of traffic, it stops dead right there. it doesn't matter if you are driving 5 mph or 70 mph, it does not move after getting the message. i feel very unsafe driving this vehicle now.

The electronic transmission lever feels like it is in the parking mode but is has been a false assumption and may be in the reverse or neutral gear. it has happened in city street and the vehicle has rolled being that it was in neutral gear and not in the parking mode.

Transmission shifts rough. jerks back and forth when swithcing gears. slams into gear.

On board computer, obstructing major traffic lanes, diagnostic trouble code (dtc) defaults the transaxel to neutral and complete loss of motive power. the loss of motve motive could cause crash without power. updated 01/17/2017*ct *cn

Car shuts down , coast to stop. dash light all flash . message service transmission . put in park restart car . this is the third time in 3 weeks it has been back to dealer. the last time they replaced tcm . last time 3/15/16 26000 miles on vehicle shuts down in 65 mph traffic causes chaos with vehicles behind you . the first time this happened was after a recall to reprogram transmission.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. the contact had to apply force to the steering wheel in order to steer the vehicle. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. in addition, whenever the heating or air conditioning units were activated, a mold odor emitted from the air vents. the vehicle was towed to a dealer, but the cause of the failure was unable to be diagnosed. the dealer speculated that the software needed to be reset. the vehicle was repaired. after the repair, while driving down an incline at various speeds, the accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle hesitated to move forward. the rpms increased. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the software was reset. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v529000 (power train); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 15,000. parts distribution disconnect.

When you accelerate from a full stop or partial stop going down a hill, the vehicle's transmission delays switching from neutral to first gear while you have the gas pedal depressed, resulting in the engine revving up before engaging the gear. so you are stopped, press the gas, the engine revs, you roll out into the intersection since the car isn't in gear, and then it pops into gear suddenly, and lurches you forward. it is dangerous as you do not have the expected response from the vehicle and could find yourself in danger if you don't account for the delay when pulling out in traffic. i have taken the vehicle in 3 times to be repaired and have been told the vehicle is operating as intended. the manufacture is aware of the problem, as are the mechanics, but they do not have a fix for the issue so claim the vehicle is operating as normal. after online research, i discovered many people who own this vehicle have the exact same issue.

While driving engine shut off without warning, speed goes to 0mph, low battery warning pop up and want me to shift to p and desired gear. turned it off and on nothing happens. try it few times and nothing. waited for 3-5 min turned it on, and it runs normal with engine light on. after about 100ft it stall again. try the process before and it goes normal again. car stalled twice a day. first stall happened few days ago. vehicle was in motion on a city street.

Driving 30 mph when warning lights & signals flash on dash. car quits accelerating; speed falls to zero while my foot was on the gas. transmission revving; car going nowhere. i coast to the side of the road. i try to move the gear shift to reverse or drive. nothing. turn off engine. restarted vehicle. "service transmission" appeared on dash. check engine light came on. waited on side of road to be towed to dealership. spoke to dealership the next business day. told them what happened. service tech said, "so it was like it shifted into neutral?" i thought about it for a minute and said, "yes, it was like that, but i never touched a thing." then i asked, "have you ever heard of that happening before?" service tech replied, "nope. never."

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while accelerating from a complete stop, the transmission exhibited extreme hesitation and jerked forward. the vehicle stalled without warning. there were multiple attempts before the vehicle restarted. the failure recurred numerous times. the dealer replaced the transmission and the failure recurred the same day. the failure became progressively worse. the vehicle was not repaired a second time. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

While driving on a major highway all of the dash warning lights started going off and the display said, "service tranmission" the car began to decelerate on the highway in traffic and would not pick up speed. i immediately pulled over and put the car in park. when i would switch it back to drive the car would jerk very roughly. i immediately called the dealer and they said to bring it in. i had to drive with it stuck in one speed to the dealership. i feel this is a huge safety concern sine i was on a major highway.

Takada recall transmission shifts hard in 1 -3 gears, hesitates on acceleration, stays in low gear on steep incline, drops into neutral uncontrolled and lunges car forward when shifting through first three gears.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 jeep cherokee. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the dealer diagnosed that the valve wiring body harness and transaxle wiring harness needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was brought back to the dealer where updates were done to the transmission and power train control modules, but the failure persisted. the contact stated that the failure recurred on several occasions intermittently. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

Transmission acting erratically. the transmission will shift hard into 2nd and 3rd gear. when coming to a stop it will downshift in a rough manner. when putting the vehicle into drive the transmission will bang into 1st gear. when highway driving on a flat surface the transmission will shift between gears for no reason. it will never no into 9th gear. there is also a great deal of torque steer when accelerating.

My 2014 jeep cherokees engine will completely turn off when trying to shift from first to second gear. this is alarming because i'm almost always driving with a one year old in the backseat and when at a stop light or stop sign the car will just not accelerate when the gas is pressed and then unexpectedly just stay idle. because i am already at a stopped position i have no traction to move the car to the side of the road and the car is left stranded where i stopped. i have also experienced a noticeable jerking motion when traveling at high speeds and its shifting at higher gears.
