IGNITION 1

Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2007 Honda CR-V

My honda crv 2007 steering wheel and ignition locked on me. when i tried to start my car the key went into the ignition but it didn't turn. the steering wheel were locked. i had to tow my car to the honda dealer. on monday morning, i contacted the honda dealer and was told that the problem was the ignition lock assembly. honda kept my vertical for 2 days. they had to order a part to replace the ignition. when i asked has this happened to any other honda crv, mr.dylan frizzell said 1 other honda crv that he knew of at this time. i should not be obligated t0 pay $742.00. my honda crv 2007 had the airbags and doors recalled causing me potential death. please give me a written response. thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while driving 40 mph and approaching a stop, the vehicle lost power without warning. the failure occurred intermittently. the contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed to an independent mechanic. the mechanic repaired the starter and starter relay, but the failure recurred. multiple unknown dealers were contacted, but diagnostic testing was not provided. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 107,000.

2007 crv purchased new. 198,000. car has been failing to furn over intermittently for a couple of months on first try. all lights on dashboard light up, but only a low wurring noise. turn key back, wait a second or two and it starts right up. today, when i started the car the check engine light was on. after driving for about 3 - 4 miles, both the vsa light and the trangle light came on and the car started bucking and driving very roughly. conituned until i could safely pull over. turned car off and then back on. the vsa nad triangle lights went off and the car returned to driving normally for the remainder of my commute (~8 miles). parked car for 10 hours. when starting again, the exact same scenario occured except the vsa and triangle lights came on after about 2/10's of a mile. pulled over and shut the car off and only the check engine light remained on and driving returned to normal. upon arriving home, i started to research these issues and stumbled upon some posts regarding possible recalls and/or technical service bulletin's regarding faulty ignition switches and a correlation between the starting issues, the dashlights and the bucking and rough driving i had encountered.

I have a short in the electrical system when i stop and start the door locks unlocked and locks. also my radio requires to enter a code when i shut it off, after i turn off the key. it works when i don't shut it off after i turn the key off.

The doors locks keep un locking and the front end keeps radleing and the stering is real tiet

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 65 mph, the door ajar warning indicator displayed on the instrument panel, alerting that the front driver's door was opened. the contact slowed down, merged onto the shoulder, and opened and closed the door; however, the warning indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 222,044.

Faulty door lock on front passenger side

Honda refuses to replace recalled door lock actuators. driver's side door lock and passenger rear locks will not stay open, sealing occupants in the car unless the key fob is repeatedly actuated. honda says recall has expired. honda replaced one actuator with another that also failed and will not replace it.

We were driving and stopped the car outside a restaurant. when i tried to open the car door it would not unlock using the door handle. it finally opened when the key fob was pressed several times. when we returned from the restaurant and got inside the car, the door would not lock. we tried the key fob and the door control on the drivers side panel. as we started to drive, the passenger side door lock started locking and unlocking and would not stop. every couple of seconds the lock clicked open, clicked locked but the indicator that turns red when the door is unlocked would not fully engage. the indicator was only partially red. it was stuck in the middle and would not lock. the passenger door lock clicked on- and - off every couple of seconds when we were driving. we can't lock our car door when in motion and can't lock the car doors when stopped or parked. it is not safe.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 honda cr-v. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle decelerated and lost power. as a result, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. the contact felt ill and drowsy prior to the crash. the air bags did not deploy. the contact suffered neck and back injuries, which required medical attention. a police report was filed. the dealer was not contacted for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that a new bumper was needed and the rear passenger side tail light needed repairing. the body damage was repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was unknown. *bf (just a side not carfax's year is 2007,) *jb

Two items of concern to report: door locks - back passenger side door will no longer lock and once the car is in motion, the doors will automatically lock and unlock for several minutes. when in park, the back door remains unlocked even after the doors have been secured. - major security / safety issue - children in the back of the car renders child locks useless. car will not start / shuts off in motion: i have had 4 total instances (2) of each in the past month. when pulling into a parking space at slow speed, the instrument panel flashes and the car dies. the car will not turn over when trying to turn on. finally started once car was put into neutral - computer completely resets - have to enter radio code. second instance - driving at 60 mph on highway, instrument panel flashes and car dies - then comes back on while driving. major issue!!

My front passenger door and the back hatch have locked up and will not open or even unlock.

Honda drive slow all doors make noise while driving remote key change to a key tire light stay on at all time all doors locked up had to pay for a lock smith

Defaulting locking door system. doors keep on locking while driving or/and not locking all doors while parked. i have already replaced latch assembly once this year and now broken again. this locking while driving has been an ongoing problem for years. it's very bothersome not to be able to have all doors locked while parked.

Front passenger door lock will not stay unlocked after being activated from the driver's side or passenger side. this poses a safety problem should the front passenger need to exit the vehicle in an emergency situation. the rear driver's side door lock will not stay locked, after manually "locking" the vehicle and especially after the vehicles automatic locking system is activated. this poses a safety issue should a child, or a passenger if any age can open the door while the vehicle is in motion. this is a safety feature and door locks should be covered by honda with no expiration.

The right rear passenger door locking mechanism unlocks itself after locking with driver's master control or key control. this allows the door to be unsecured when vehicle is moving causing safety issue. honda sees this as warranty issue not safety issue.

Center instrument panel malfunctioning; started as blinking in an out, now minimal information is displayed. mileage amount shows and this is how i know when to fill my tank with gas. i have received estimates for repair at $800.00.

Automatic locks constantly lock and unlock under speeds of 25mph (while vehicle is in motion). passenger side lock (front door) will not unlock (when stationary and in park). seems to be an issue with the lock actuator.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while the vehicle was stationary, the front passenger door actuator malfunctioned, locking the passenger inside the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 272,000.

About 4 months ago my right-side back passenger's door was making a loud noise when the car doors were trying to lock while i was driving, or when i used the car remote or lock panel on drivers side door. come to find out that it was the actuator needs to be replaced. now, my front-passengers door and trunk do not open, however, no loud sounds are happening except for the right-side back passenger's door. i thought i could handle the sound, but now this issue has progressed and is a huge inconvenience every time i use my car. most recently, on 2/25/17 my daughter and i came home and parked along the street from outside of my home. i had my daughter in the vehicle strapped in her car seat, upon exiting the drivers side i closed the door and the car locked. i tried using the remote to unlock the doors that were still "functioning" (drivers side door & left-side back passengers door) which did not work! i had to use the car alarm to wake up my daughter to see if she could unbuckle herself but unfortunately, after she got out of her seat she was unsuccessful trying to open the doors they would not open from the inside either. i must have tried the remote and using the actual key in the drivers door for a good 5 minutes which felt like an eternity. this matter is a huge manufacturing issue that is still not resolved in the reported active class action lawsuit. with some help from a neighbor we managed to get the door open to get my daughter out. i'm truly disappointed with honda as i've never had issues with honda as i felt that honda is exceptionally reliable. as of yesterday's fiasco involving my daughter i will be seeking out counsel from a litigator on this issue since it seems that it has not been resolved, knowing that this problem continues to persist which is a dangerous situation to have your own children locked inside. parents worst nightmare.

> door locks malfunctioning - (actuator replacement) left rear door lock does not remain in locked position. all doors lock, except for rear door lock on driver's side, engages but slowly reverts to unlocked position, which poses security risk to life (self, children and pets) in addition to unsecured property... this is an ongoing issue and the second time we encountered problem, and had to replace the driver's door lock (actuator) about two (2) years ago, and suspect the the remaining door locks will soon fail as well....??

My honda crv's front passenger side window will not go up. it is stuck down. it first it was sluggish and now it won't work at all.

Both passenger side door locks are malfunctioning. they make a very loud noise when attempting to lock/unlock. more importantly, they will only stay unlocked for a brief moment before moving back to the locked position. manually maneuvering the lock is next to impossible, which creates a big safety hazard of the vehicle potentially locking passengers inside with no means of opening the doors. *tr

Passenger front lock

I have four issues. first, my power steering assembly needs to be replaced. it is leaking and will cause more problems. i see on many sites where this issue is very prevalent in 2007 cr-v's. second, the interior lighting does not work correctly. only the back inside lights come on when the doors open; the front drivers inside light only comes on when pushed; the front passengers inside light does not work at all. third, the back passenger side door will not lock. i am not able to lock it manually or remotely. it locks and pops right back open. i see many complaints online with the locks on 2007 cr-v's. fourth, the tpms light stays on.

At the time they replaced my driver side airbag they also replaced the driver side actuator for locking the door per an active recall and after leaving the dealership in statesville nc my doors immediately began locking and unlocking, i contacted the dealer who did original repair and said they can do nothing for passenger side, my car will now not lock and randomly locks and unlocks the doors, this was not occurring before driver side was repaired. please help, obviously the passenger side actuator is faulty too. i appreciate your attention to this matter. i can no longer lock my passenger side doors. this occurs when the car is moving, very distracting to the driver of auto

Front passenger door lock mechanism failure prevents normal operation of the manual lock control and locks passengers into the vehicle. with the failure, the manual lock control has high mechanical resistance and immediately returns to the lock position after attempting to unlock. this power lock failure is not not fail safe, and creates a safety hazard as it is nearly impossible to unlock and then open the door before the door locks itself. exiting the vehicle in emergency situations such as an accident is compromised as passengers are locked into the vehicle. i respectfully request the initiation of a safety inquiry for this failure to support a mandatory recall for power lock failures in 2007 and other affected years of the honda crv.

Passenger power window not functioning. would not roll up. was sticking off and on for a long time. now completely failed in rolling back up.

The door locks started making a loud racket driving and stopping - when you were driving over 10 mph locks are supposed to lock automatically and then when you stop and park unlock automatically. apparently there was an extended warranty that covered front driver actuator and right and left rear door locks. this extension warranty expired november 2015. howdy honda dealership here in austin texas was able to have front driver side door actuator replaced under warranty. the back driver and passenger doors will not lock. the new actuator was going off continuous in attempt to lock the back doors. i took back to howdy honda, they said they would reprogram my key to stop it from trying to continuously lock the back doors as it was apparent that the new actuator would wear out rapidly from doing this.. if i am driving and stop at a light or crossing, anyone can just open the back door and hop inside my car and car jack me. also, with these doors not locking i cannot set the alarm. this affects my insurance, as i have car insurance stating i have an alarm system - well if my car is vandalized or stolen it will come back to my problem as i did not set the alarm - i cannot set the alarm the back doors do not ever lock. i explained the insurance problem if vandalized or stolen; i explained the safety issue of being car jacked or someone opening the back door at a stop and grabbing one of my kids from the back seat or getting into the car. the cost quoted is $552.00 to repair back door locks - this is all connected to the front driver door actuator that has been replaced, but has now been disabled by howdy honda as it was going off and on continuously trying to lock back doors and that would wear out the new actuator just installed 10/26/2016 under warranty. *tr

2015 i receive a recall for the drivers door lock and i completed that but i need to replacement the passenger door lock for the same problem you can send me a new recall for that?

Automatic door locks will unlock on its own while driving.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that while in park, all the doors failed to unlock. the contact had to push the unlock button multiple times in order to exit the vehicle. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the actuator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown. ..updated 05/17/16 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired on april 4, 2016. updated 10/30/2017*js

The front and rear locks on the passenger side have failed. when the vehicle is locked, the passenger side locks automatically switch to the unlock position, regardless of the vehicle being stationary or in motion. even after locking the vehicle, the door can be opened by passengers or people outside the vehicle. this poses a serious risk for young passengers who may open the door while in motion if the child safety lever is not activated. i have already paid the honda dealership to repair the front passenger side lock actuator, but after the front lock actuator repair, the rear lock actuator broke. in 2015, honda issued an extended warranty on the locks, but the extended warranty period was only a few months from the issue date of the letter. my lock actuators broke shortly after the end of the extended warranty period. i attempted to have honda repair the locks as part of the campaign and they refused. i am requesting that the nhtsa investigate this issue to determine that the defective lock actuators are a safety issue and a recall is necessary. please refer to code of federal regulations [70 fr 39966, july 12, 2005] 571.206 standard no. 206; door locks and door retention components. -s4.1.3.2 side rear door locks. in passenger cars and multipurpose passenger vehicles, when the locking mechanism is engaged both the outside and inside door handles or other latch release controls shall be inoperative.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated that the rear driver side door locks functioned independently. in addition, the rear passenger door and trunk did not unlock. prior to the failure, the vehicle made abnormal noises. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the actuators in the trunk, rear driver, and rear passenger side doors were defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where they replaced the rear passenger side door actuator. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was approximately 171,000.

After i had my honda repaired due to a recall for something due to a problem with its suspension, my tires can not be balanced and the tire warning light does not go out. the ac just stopped working prior to the summer of 2015,. the right front door lock stopped working about the same time and now the starter had to be replaced. the car was getting its tires replaced when the tires would not balance and the tire warning light would not go off. the starter would not work after i left an appointment in the parking lot. i do not know if the car was movig or stationary when the door stopped working.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact was not experiencing a failure until the vehicle was taken to the dealer (kelly honda, 40 lynnway, lynn, ma 01905, (781) 595-5252) two years ago for a manufacturer recall to service the door lock actuator. the contact stated that there was an intermittent failure, which caused the contact to be locked inside the vehicle. in addition, the doors failed to lock and unlock. the contact also took the vehicle to the dealer for nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v030000 (air bags) and 16v061000 (air bags), but was uncertain as to when the parts would be supplied to the dealer to receive the repairs within a reasonable time frame. the contact was also uncertain about the door lock actuator failure and reported the failure to the manufacturer. the failure mileage was not available. parts distribution disconnect.

The automatic door locking system engages and disengages on it's own, while driving, slowing down and stopping, then starting up again. a very "false sense of security" to all the passengers because the doors may be unlocked or locked at any time and the occupants may not be able to get out when they think they can based on what they hear the door locks have done by falsely engaging & disengaging.

I came out of work and started my car. it smelled horrible, like an electrical fire. i brought it to my honda dealership and they said it is the clutch mechanism. the a/c compressor failed and it is going to cost $1600 to fix. this was legitimately out of nowhere with no issue up until this point in time and it took me completely by surprise. upon looking online, there are several reports of similar situations. a recall really should be done. this is an extremely expensive repair for owners to be burdened with.

While driving in city traffic the passenger doors were locking and unlocking. at one point the passenger front door would unlock on its own. i was unable to get it to stay locked. the next time i used the car all seemed normal. this is very dangerous.

Back doors will not lock. i tried to lock them manually as well as with the key remote and my back doors are always unlocked. the kids could fall out when moving if they open the doors.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle failed to increase acceleration when the accelerator pedal was depressed. in addition, the air conditioner was activated and emitted hot air through the vents. the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the air compressor was replaced. the failure recurred on two separate occasions. the vehicle was not repaired for most recent failures. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000. the vin was unavailable.

Summer 2015 my a/c started to blow warm air. took my car tot he honda dealership in which they told me that my compressor had failed and needed to be replaced. i replaced the compressor as it was just starting to warm up. according to tsb #sb-12-072 nhtsa id #10056005, there was an extended warranty for those parts, but of course my vin number was not involved. even though it was the exact same problem. i wish there was a way to even get partially reimbursed because $1,900 was a lot to swallow.

The locks are clicking on and off constantly while driving in traffic at a slow speed. they are not locking or unlocking the way they should. i already had the lock accentuator replaced with the recall. that did not cure my problem. my passenger window is not working as well. i cannot roll it down as it takes several tries to roll it back up. there is a serious eletronic flaw which could lock me in my car preventing me from getting out if i cannot roll my windows down. i will have to get a video of this while driving.

Passenger front door lock actuator (nhtsa reference: #10057463) - i was never notified by honda of this class-action settlement - my mechanic informed me on 8-30-16 of this settlement during a routine oil change - after contacting honda america at 800-999-1009 -ext [xxx], i was informed the settlement for the passenger front door actuator was amended and terminated as of november 2015 - my passenger front door actuator has been non-working since the 1st quarter of 2015 - honda has politely refused any corrective action - twice i have been informed that a manager will call to review my request; no calls have been received - i have received recall notices from honda (i.e. march 2016 regarding the airbags) so i am definitely in their computer system - had i been made aware of the passenger front door actuator settlement i would have immediately contacted the local honda dealer for a prompt and full repair free of charge questions: a) does honda america bear any burden of having to document they did send written notification of this settlement in a timely manner? b) why was a termination date agreed to of nov. 2015? if a part is defective, as it clearly is in my situation, it will remain defective even after nov. 2015? c) what recourse do i have that the nhtsa can assist me with? thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle started to sputter and made a jerking motion after the engine and vehicle stability warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the cylinder tube misfired and the computer failed and needed to be replaced. in addition, the contact stated that all of the doors would lock and unlock without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the door lock actuator failed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 173,000.

Door locks:: 2014 class action lawsuit resulted in six month extension to november 2015 for honda 2007 crv repair this should be a recall as the lock has a design flaw that results in the doors not being able to be unlocked from the inside. if you unlock the doors, it automatically re-locks. the only way to get out is for an adult to put their thumb on the manual door latch and try to block the latch from locking while you try to open the door. the passenger locks on my affected vehicle had very little usage while driver door had high usage. driver door was not affected so this is not a "wear" issue. also, lock should default to unlocked if fails. not locked as you can't get of the car. honda issued service bulletin 14-083 and 084 which identifies the problem. this needs to be an involuntary untimed recall as this is a known safety issue. a secondary issue is local dealer did not follow the settlement agreement. settlement agreement says driver door lock to be replaced whether working or not. ocean honda, santa cruz ca. did not do that when i brought in due to honda notification. honda revised its service bulletin to include passenger door locks..ocean honda did not inform me. they had car in for air bag recalls and service every 3 months. trying to get them to accept responsibility now as warranty has expired; but this is a safety issue not a warranty issue.

I made the decision to buy this car for safety reasons. now i can lose my key at anytime or leave me stranded bc the fob encasing is weak and they know this because the service manager at the dealership in my town felt bad and took pity on me and "replaced" the casing for me twice now and 'only' charged me $40 each time. the door intermittently locks me out or comes on and off. i went to have it repaired and i can't afford the $300 just to see if it'll work. now - i live in a high humidity area and no recall for our airbags. i have a child that rides with me regularly and it's like playing roulette. thanks honda. my pilot i had to get rid of for stopping for no reason while driving - well i thought it was a fluke. honda is no longer the company it used to be. how about owning up to what your weaknesses and just taking care of them because people are buying your products? should be criminal to do these things to people. well maybe we will either die because we're stranded on side of the road in the middle of nowhere because somebody kills us. or maybe we'll just get locked in our vehicle and die in a fiery crash bc we can't get out. or maybe we get lucky because the airbags explode and shoot metal at us and it goes quick. this is disgusting. i will never buy another honda. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. while traveling approximately 20 mph, the front and rear driver side door unlocked independently. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician diagnosed that the door lock actuators needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. in addition, the front passenger side door failed to open with the key fob. the vehicle had not been repaired for the recent failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 118,000.

The rear right side door works the opposite of the other doors, with switching the gear from drive to park, with the remote, or using the drivers side button. all three doors will unlock but the rear right side door unlocks and then locks back up again. and when i lock all the doors the rear right side door unlocks, which makes it unsafe while driving and kids in the back seat or when the car is parked overnight (vehicle mileage 74,600). please help. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 honda cr-v. the contact stated the doors locked independently immediately after the key was removed from the ignition switch. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the contact suspected that the failure was due to a faulty door lock actuator. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000.
