Problems with 2010 Ford Fusion FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2010 Ford Fusion starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 66 700 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2010 Ford Fusion

Powering down of vehicle consistent with a throttle body failure. this happened on multiple occasions between june 5-7 2013. vehicle is at ford dealer in gaithersburg, md with unknown time for completion. this is the 5th time n the 3 year history of the vehicle that i will be without the car for more than 2 weeks. since i am out of warranty i was told i will have to pay for this repair. this is completely ridiculous. *tr

Traveling on i-40 east of nashville the engine quit and the wrench light came on. i almost got rear ended trying to get off the interstate. this is the 8th time in 14 days this has happened. i took the car to the ford dealer and they "cleaned the throttle body", the first time it happened 13 days ago. i limped the car off of i-40 to the ford dealership in mt. juliet, tn. they diagnosed a throttle body failure and said the car computer could not tell the position of the throttle and shut the engine to idle. very dangerous, especially at speed on a multi lane highway. this is a known issue to ford. this will injure or kill people someday if it has not already happened. *tr

Lost power at highway speed. pulled onto shoulder and restarted engine. later checked the code, which was p2111. stopped driving car: in some situations this loss of power could be a safety issue. dealer replaced throttle body at a cost of $400. *tr

After coming to a stop at a red light, we tried to accelerate, when the wrench light came on and the car lost power, but did not shut off. we could not accelerate, rpms dropped and, luckily we coasted to a safe stop. i put it park and turned it off. after a minute or two, started it up again, the wrench light was off. we went a couple of miles and it did it again. we decided it was unsafe so we brought it home. *tr

While driving normally the cars wrench light will come on, then jerk hard and then lose all acceleration. there is still braking and steering to get off the road and to a stop before the car shuts off. will not even "limp" home. after several minutes you can start it back and continue, until it happens again. *tr

Car went into "limp mode", with wrench lit up on dash. could not go over 5 mph, and the car was shuddering terribly. took almost a month for ford to replace defective throttle body. the service folks indicated it was an "epidemic" across the us, and the issue was part availability due to the number of issues.

Driving at highway speed, i heard a 'pop', and the car suddenly lost power. i coasted to the side of the road. the car idled roughly, but would not accelerate. the 'wrench' warning icon lit on the dash as well. i turned the engine off and tried to restart it. it started and ran correctly after that. this has happened two times since then. the dealership reported no codes showing after hooking it to their computer. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. the contact stated that the vehicle emitted a strong gasoline fuel odor. the contact inspected the vehicle and found that the fuel tank was leaking. the contact would only refuel the vehicle to half full to avoid a fuel leak. the manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 13v227000 (fuel system, gasoline) the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 135,000 and the approximate current mileage was 137,000.

Fuel cap codes, emission control codes and throttle actuator control code are now on all the time. i had taken it back to ford, but light had went out at the time. i was told that the codes do not log in ecm. i was told they could hook up equipment, there would be no codes and the cost $90.00. i left. on a short trip this weekend we had problems with all codes staying on and new one for throttle when cruise would not set. i stopped at autozone and they could print out stored codes. they are p0455, p0457,p2119. they have performed and throttle recall once and i have a letter from ford about a recall, but no response as of yet. as of today the dash service wrench has reset. the problems start over a year ago on trips to fla. but lights always seamed to reset after several key recycles. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

This morning my wife told me her car would not accelerate and had acted like it was out of gas. she said when she stopped and turned the car off and then restarted the car it worked fine for a few miles. i decided to take it to my mechanic. on the way there the car would get up to around 40 to 45 and then seem to loose power. when i would pull over the car would begin to shake. i had to turn the car off and wait a couple of minutes and then restart it and it would be fine for a while. finally made it to the mechanic and after being checked it turned out to be the throttle body. the mechanic said they called for the parts and there were over 4,000 on back order. there were able to find one and hopefully it will arrive in a day or so. with that many on back order and all the comments here you would think this would be a recall item. i can't imagine what could happen if you were in heavy traffic and this happened. it is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. *tr

My 2010 ford fusion (40000 miles) suddenly began to shake and then all of the sudden it stalled and would no longer move until it was shut off and cranked back up. i had to maneuver my way off the highway by coasting. this has happened 5 times since the original incident. i originally thought i had gotten some bad gas. this is not the case. it recently stalled while i was driving under a red light. i was very fortunate to be able to coast out of the way of oncoming traffic. when this happens you are without the ability to accelerate and move off the road. you must depend entirely on coasting to safety. i have taken it to a ford dealership this morning . they said it was the throttle body and it would possibly take 8 weeks to get a new one since so many are being needed. why has ford not issued a recall on this dangerous part? i have read many accounts online of owners having this same problem with the throttle body. i am very thankful that i was not hit by oncoming traffic. i hope that it does not take someone getting injured for ford to do something about this problem. *tr

My wife was driving her 2010 ford fusion sel awd at about 30 mph. the car suddenly lost acceleration and the yellow wrench appeared along with the check engine light. she turned the car off and restarted it. the symptoms disappeared and the car ran normally. however, within a few miles it happened again. i checked the dtc with my scanner and got both p2111 and p2112. both are related to the throttle body. ford is back ordered on this part and the car is not drive able without it. if the problem had happened at a higher rate of speed or in traffic, it would have been a dangerous situation. *tr

While driving down the highway at 50 mph in my 2010 ford fusion, the engine shut down and i was unable to get the engine to do anything but remain at idle, i coasted to the shoulder of the road. i shut the engine off and then restarted it. i managed to get back home. i took the car to a ford garage and they determined that the throttle body was bad. they have ordered a new throttle body so they can make the repair. *tr

I was driving on friday, may 24, 2013 on interstate 4 in orlando, florida. i was driving about 55-60 mph and my 2010 ford fusion started to stall and sputter. this is an extremly busy interstate as it runs through downtown, orlando is the main route to walt disney world and tampa, fl. the wrench light came on and i somehow managed to pull off the side of the road through 4 lanes of traffic without causing an accident. i turned the car off and waited a minute and started it back up. i was able to drive away with no problems. this is the 4th time it has happened in the past few weeks. i had the exact same thing happen last year and had it repaired costing me around 800.00 which i did not have at the time. the car was fine and now here i am a year later with the exact problem, the car is out of warrenty and i cannot afford this again. something needs to be done with this part before someone dies. i was lucky, thousands of cars traveling at a high rate of speed travel this interstate. i will be filing a complaint with the bbb against for to have the repairs completed again. they should issue a recall on this part so that others do not have to worry about this. i have found that for some reason it is inevitable to happen with this vehicle. i hope that someone somewhere can get this take care of. *tr

Traveling at approximately 30 mph when vehicle abruptly stopped moving forward. engine was still running, but when accelerator was pushed the vehicle would not move. put vehicle in park and the engine started to shake violently. turned ignition off and immediately turned hazard lights on. vehicles behind me had to swerve to miss me. i then turned the ignition and car started. put car in drive and vehicle repeated the same process as described above. had to have car towed to dealer. dealer examined vehicle and determined that the throttle body was defective. it is my understanding that there have been numerous complaints regarding this issue. i felt that my life was endangered due to this issue. i believe that there should be a recall on all affected vehicles before someone is seriously injured or killed. *tr

My wife driving a 2010 ford fusion with was driving down i 75 in detroit around 9:30 am to work, when all sudden the engine lost power. the maintenance light ( yellow wrench) started blinking rapidly. she could not accelerate even though is was pressing the accelerator pedal to ground. the engine started shuddering and shaking. my wife managed to steer the vehicle towards the exit on the highway. drivers behind her started to brake as her vehicle started to slow down. she managed to take the next exit and pull in gas station where she shut the engine off. after about a 5 min she started the car. she did not find any problem. she went home and called me. at home i put a code reader on the car and found it had the error p2111. investigating this further tells me it is due to fuel injection throttle body. i called the dealer huntington ford in rochester hills, mi who wants me to bring the car for checkup with scanner ( costs about $96). since the car has 58300 miles on it is no longer covered by factory warranty. i am concerned this is a serious safety defect and needs to be covered under warranty. i do see there a lot of people who have has this problem with 2010 ford fusions. *tr

While turning into a parking lot at a speed less than 25 mph my ford fusion 2010 stalled and began slowing down despite pressing the gas pedal and the wrench light appeared. the car was put into park and turned off. when the car was turned back on, the light was gone and began running normal. car was then parked. after 45 minutes the car was started again and driven at 25 mph for about 1 mile, after stopping at a stop sign and then turning onto a 2 lane road the car encountered the same problem and was unable to accelerate despite pressing the gas. the car was again turned off and back on, with all lights disappearing and running normal. i began drive down the road to move out of traffic, the car the encountered the same problem 3 more times in less than one half mile. a tow truck was called and car was towed to a ford dealership. the following day the ford dealership called to inform us that the problem was the fuel throttle body that needed to be replaced. they informed us that the part needed to be order but did not know when it would be in. later in the day upon talking to the dealership again they informed us that this particular part was currently on back order until june 18th/ indefinitely. *tr

Driving car on highway at approximately 55 mph. throttle body warning light came on and the vehicle died in the middle of the highway. the incident has happened on the highway 4 times since may 22, 2013. the car would not turn back on for some time and no warning lights would come on upon restart. *tr

Driving on the highway when the wrench light came on, the car began to decelerate, and the gas pedal did nothing. luckily, i was in the outside lane and was able to get to the shoulder. i let the car rest for a minute, then restarted the car and drove with no problem. my experience appears identical to those who have had issues with the throttle body. the part is on back order, and ford dealers charge 3 times as much as independent mechanics to fix it. it would seem like if the problem is so pervasive that the part is unavailable because it is used so much, this should be the subject of a recall. *tr

My car's engine cut off at 70 mph going down the interstate. luckily no one was harmed as i was able to drift with my flashers to the side of the road. i called my local ford dealership, and they stated this was a common problem in the fusions. my car has cut off several times while driving around town also. it's extremely scary and dangerous to have no acceleration in 65 mph traffic. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while driving at 55 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who diagnosed that the vent canister kit needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 60,000. updated 6/3/15*cn updated 10/3/2017*cn

When driving my car on the interstate, it would shake really bad anytime we got above 60 mphs. at 65, it would shut off. the engine was still running the rpms would not go above 1000. we could put the car in neutral and restart the car - no go. to get driving again, we had to stop the car completely. wait 5 minutes. and start again. this happened 5 times. the ford dealer found a problem with the electronic throttle body and is replacing it. the car is out of warranty though... *tr

I was driving around 45 mph and the car just shut down. i was able to pull over and after a few moments i was able to start the car again. the following saturday i was driving around 35 mph and the same thing happened. fortunately, i wasn't on the freeway when this happened. i read online that this is happening to other fusion owners. i believe there's a problem with the throttle body getting stuck. *tr

As i was driving southbound outer drive barely crossing pelham my fusion lost power as described by all other thottle body failures i have read. i was almost rearended by a truck behind me that was trying to make the light. currently, there is a backorder on the throttle body assmblies and i am out of a vehicle until they deliver.. *tr

In the past month on several occasions the throttle did not work not allowing me to accelerate. the only way i could correct it was to turn the motor off and restart the car. in a couple of these instances i was in traffic and could not move the car. i have been to the ford dealership where i bought the car (buhler ford in eatontown new jersey) and they have told me that i need the throttle body replaced but they are unable to get the part since they are on back order due to the number of cars with the same problem awaiting the part. this is a serious condition that is totally unacceptable and unsafe. i went on line and have found out that hundreds of others are having the same problem. ford needs to issue a recall on these parts and change them. i have been told that it will cost me nearly $500 to fix but they don't even know when they can get the part. *tr

I was traveling on the kennedy expressway in chicago at about 4:30 pm at rush hour time. the little wrench light came on the dashboard without warning or any kind of notice and i could not accelerate at all. when i touched the gas pedal nothing happened at all. i managed to get off on the nearest exit and was blocking traffic. finally i tried shutting off the vehicle and then restarting it. this solved the problem temporarily. this happened to me three times intermittently, twice on the highway and once as i was trying to make a left turn at a busy intersection. no warning. the light comes on and you have no acceleration. i'm being told it could be the throttle body. *tr

On may 13, 2013, at approximatley 8:30am, on i-40 westbound at 70mph the engine suddenly completly lost power/thrust and the "wrench" light (throttle body indicator). all electrical components were still on, but the gas pedal would not respond. the engine was sputtering and seemed to be "choking". i put on the hazard indicators, pulled over to the side of the road and immediately turned the car off. i checked my owners manual and it stated that if the light remained on i had an issue with the throttle body. i turned the car on and the light did not come on or demonstrate any indication of trouble, so i continued driving to my destination. upon reaching my destination, i contacted the local dealership in the area, explained what happened and dropped it off for them to diagnose. after leaving it with the dealership for two days, the dealership could not replicate the problem but stated that it was the throttle body and that specific part was back-ordered unti june. with no options available, i paid the diagnostic fee of $130.71 and decided to try to drive it home. on may 16th, 2013, at approximately 10:30am, on i-81 southbound at 70mph the same exact issue occured again. i put on the hazard indicators, pulled over to the side of the road and immediately turned the car off. this time when i turned the car back on, the "engine" light came on (no "wrench" light). leaving the car running, i checked my owners manual and it stated to drive it to the closes dealership. upon reaching the dealership, i explained the repeated trouble i had had, what the previous delaership had stated and that the car was still running so they could diagnise it without having to replicate the problem. the dagnostic indicated code p2111 (throttle body stuck open-replace throttle body). they installed it, i paid the total service fee of $381.91 and drove the rest of the way home. *tr

I was driving on 1-95 in virginia in the left lane early in the morning with my cruise control set. all of a sudden my cruise control shut off and my car started to slow down very fast. i was lucky that no one was behind me in the left lane or else i could have been in an accident. after sitting on the side of the highway for a few minutes i restarted my car and was able to drive on the road again. about 30 minutes later my car did the same thing where the gas pedal wouldn't work and the wrench light came on. the part of the highway did not have very many exits so i had to start my car up again in order to make it to an exit with a ford dealership. once at the ford dealership i left my car to be looked at the next day. the ford dealership called me to tell me it was the throttle body and it was going to be $600. i went in to buy the part to try and replace it myself and told the car dealership that i was very upset because my car wasn't even 3 years old yet and that i was still paying on my loan. the supervisor said they had seen this issue on other fusions and was going to only charge me $300 for the part and they would handle paying for the labor costs. this is a serious issue that is very dangerous especially when it happens on the highway. *tr

While driving on the highway at approximately 65 mph, the car loss all power and the transmission began to vibrate excessively in a jerking motion with an illumination of the wrench symbol. the warning indicator remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. the failure occurred nine times at various speeds while trying to get home. the check engine light came on remained on once we arrived home. car has been at ford dealer for two weeks now waiting on a fuel body throttle which is apparently on back order nationwide. why there is not a recall on this very dangerous mechanical issue is beyond me! *tr

Fusion cut power because of a faulty throttle body at around 45 mph. this returned a code p2112 and p2111 on my code reader. once put into the shop, the ford dealer told me it may be weeks or months before a part is available and i am currently without a vehicle. my warranty only covered for 3 days for rental so now i do not have a car. very frustrating. *tr

Traveling approximately 70-75 mph on us highway vehicle lost power and entered into a limited power "limp home" mode, dropping engine to idle speed and causing a wrench light to activate on the dash and activation of "check engine" light. vehicle losing power nearly resulted in motor vehicle collision with other vehicles. after moving to shoulder of roadway and shutting off vehicle and turning it back on the problem corrected for approximately 2 miles where issue occurred again, this time at speeds approximately 60 mph. after shutting off and powering back on vehicle the problem again corrected for less than a mile. vehicle continued same problem after shutdown another 8 times within 5 miles. only roadside correction to issue was to remove negative battery cable to reset computer. after completing this task vehicle would run normally for approximately 10 miles where issue would return. vehicle was taken to shop where a diagnostic computer showed codes of p2112 and p2111, throttle actuator stuck open and throttle actuator stuck closed. required repair appears to be complete removal and replacement of electronic throttle body assembly. *tr

Was driving for about 1 mile, then all of a sudden car was still running but no throttle on a very busy road lucky was able to get pull over . i feel that a car with only 45,504 miles should not done that . i keep my maintenance up to date. and was not cover under my warranty. that's $ 450.00 i didn't have { throttle body} that's is the first time i have felt unsafe driving my car. for being a woman that could have been on the interstate at a faster speed it could have been a disaster for everyone . thank you. *tr

Vehicle seemed to stall, wrench warning light came on and then went off, shut off vehicle and restarted. could not get vehicle up to speed, seeming to stall again. called tow truck. *tr

Driving on interstate at highway speeds (65mph+), car suddenly lost power and slowed, shuddering as it stopped. difficult to restart, able to continue on driving for several miles before occurring again. had vehicle towed to ford dealer in the area for service. diagnosed as throttle body failure; dealer service has replaced throttle body as of 5/3/2013. *tr

I was just leaving the street from our subdivision during morning rush hour, made a right hand turn when there was a break in traffic and just as i was accelerating the engine just seemed to die. i was able to steer the car to the side of the street to get out of traffic and discovered that the car was still running at a rough idle and a "wrench" symbol showed up on my dash. when the traffic cleared i was able to back up into the street into our subdivision, got the car turned around and drove back to my house at less than 5mph. after letting the car set for a while i started it up and it ran fine. i then called a mechanic and explained what happened and asked him to check it out, which he agreed to do. during the drive to the mechanic the same problem occurred about 1/2 mile from his location and i was again able to get out of the flow of traffic and made it to his location. after leaving the car at his location i went on line to research if any other 2010 fusion owners had experienced the same problem and found that there were hundreds that had, many of whom contacted ford with no luck in getting them to acknowledge the problem. the problem appears to be associated with the throttle body assembly. i also called ford to discuss this with them and asked why they had not initiated a recall on this vehicle since so many people had this problem and it was what i considered to be an extreme safety hazards for drivers when this happened. i was told that this was not an issue for which a recall notice had been initiated. i have had ford products for over 40 years and was very surprised that this was the kind of response i got. i am surprised that someone has not initiated a class action suit against them for this problem since it is such a serious safety hazard. *tr

Was on the interstate, wrench light came on, car lost power and began jerking. i could not accelerate. in the past 2 months, my original throttle body went bad, number 2 was bad, and number 3 was bad. now i am on throttle body number 4, which i bought new from a dealership in california. it took days to find it, as new throttle bodies are on a national back order. i wonder why? *tr

Driving along and vehicle goes into limp mode. cannot accelerate. pull over turn off car and restart. car starts up and runs fine until it happens again which has happened several times now and more frequent. can't afford to pay dealer so i have to but the part and install it myself. no codes show up just a wrench. talked to the dealer and they are very familiar with the problem and told me what to replace but if i take it to them they will charge a fee for the diagnostic even though they know what the problem is, then they charge another fee for replacing the part. *tr

The first incident occurred a few months ago. as i was accelerating from a stopped position at a stop light, the car's engine seemed to lose power and wrench light came on. i rolled to a stop at the corner of the intersection, and put the vehicle in park. in park, the engine began to shake so, i turned the vehicle off. after a minute i turned the vehicle back on, the car seemed to run fine afterwards with no check engine light. yesterday (4/30/13), the car stalled again. this time i was going 40 mph and had to pull promptly to shoulder to avoid being hit by the unsuspecting driver behind me. i turned off the engine and restarted the car. i was able to go a few feet before the car stalled again. this time the check engine light came on, and i was unable to operate the vehicle above 900 rpms. i had the car towed to a ford dealership who said i needed a new throttle body assembly. the car had around 38,000 miles at the time of incident. upon research, i discovered this is a know problem, and ford has yet to issue a recall to prevent future crashes and injury. something needs to be done!! *tr

I too experienced the same issue as i have seen repeatedly reported with the throttle body needing to be replaced. fortunately i was not in heavy traffic and was going at a lower rate of speed, when suddenly there was no response when trying to accelerate. i pulled over into a parking lot where my vehicle began to stall. the wrench light came on. i turned off my engine and when restarted the wrench light was no longer light up. i was able to drive safely home. i called the dealership the next morning and attempted to bring the vehicle in. i was only able to drive approximately a quarter of a mile and the same loss of response to the throttle and stalling occurred when i pulled back into my driveway. i had to have my vehicle towed. the dealership indicated the throttle body needed to be replaced and there was a "nationwide backorder" for the part. i inquired why was there a backorder? the service representative replied that was a good question he did not know. perhaps it is because so many need to be replaced! i was quoted $420.00. i called local automotive parts stores and they all said they did not have the part and referred me back to the dealer, it appears it is very easy to replace, you can youtube it. also i read the code will only appear if the wrench light is still light. i am very dissatisfied that ford does not take this issue seriously. i have read numerous reports on many website searches indicating this is a very common problem for the 2010 fusion. they should be recalled and replaced at no charge. how hideous to think someone could be injured or loose their life for something that could and should be easily rectified. shame on you ford. unfortunately i will probably not purchase another ford vehicle because of this and i had really liked my car up until now. this issue should be investigated immediately. stop waiting. *tr

I started smelling gasoline every time i would get out of my car or walk towards it. i was under the impression i had "spilled some", but on 6/9/2014 i noticed a puddle of something in my driveway. i proceeded to smell it and noticed it was gasoline. so i looked under my car and realized that it had a gas leak. i then started looking online to see if there was a recall for this, but unfortunately only the 2013 models have been recalled for this issue. my car is not a 2013, but it is a 2010 and it appears to have the same issue that these cars have had. this problem needs to be looked into for the safely of the consumer. i have scheduled an appointment with a local dealer, but it worries me that i have been driving with my life just one little spark away from my car catching on fire. *tr

My car started to stall and went into limp home mode. it immediately went to 1000 rpms and lost all power. the engine light came on. i had to go across all lanes of traffic on a busy highway and almost got hit. a commonly known problem with the throttle body is the most likely cause. *tr

1.was in slow lane, vehicle slowed down suddenly. turned off engine and started it again 2. may 1? was on residential street ( 30 mph. vehicle slowed down suddenly and then started shaking. turned off engine and started it again 3.may 15 was driving 55 mph on busy curvy street in fast lane. wrench light came on and slowed suddenly, turned on flashers. .moved to the extreme right hand side. nearly got hit by speeding car in the right lane as there was a narrow shoulder. 4. may 30, my husband was driving in the slow lane of freeway. wrench light came on, i put on the flashers, and car slowed suddenly. he was able to get out of traffic. turned off engine and turned it back on again 5. june 24, 2013. my husband was driving 65 in the fast lane of busy hwy 99. wrench light came on, and vehicle suddenly slowed down. i put on flashers. he maneuvered to the slow lane, where speeding semi truck honked at us and nearly hit us. 6 june 28,2013 i was driving on a residential street at 35 mph when wrench came on, and vehicle i suddenly slowed down and i moved to the side of the street., turned off the engine, and restarted the car. why is all the information about the cause of the error code (wrench) erased when car is turned off?????? *tr

My wife was accelerating through an intersection and car stalled. luckily an oncoming vehicle was able to swerve out of way and my wife was able to steer the car to the shoulder. it would not restart and i came and switched cars with her. after 5 minutes it started and i was able to drive home after 4-5 more stalls on my 2 mile ride home. stalled on way to dealer on monday and they advised needed to replace a throttle body at a cost of over $500. only had car for 35 mths but since over miles the warranty wouldn't cover it. after checking with other mechanics was able to see about 32 other incidents that required same repair on 2010 fusion 2.5l engine. but when spoke with a ford area mgr they claimed would do nothing and there is no issues with this car or part? *tr

I was driving the vehicle home and the wrench light came on and the car would no longer respond to the accelerator pedal. i coasted to a stop the engine still running but no acceleration. *tr

This morning while traveling the interstate with cruise control set at 75mph my car had a swift jerking motion and lost all acceleration accident was a near miss trying to get off highway to emergency lane. towed to ford dealer and right away they knew it was a throttle body failure. car showed no signs of anything being wrong until incident occurred. throttle body replaced at my expense due to they say not covered under powetrain warranty. ford obviously knows there is a problem with this and refuses to acknowledge it at this time. have read several forums of numerous other people with same problem and ran across article of your investigation of ford. ford should be held responsible for there faulty parts. in the right situation some is going to lose there life related to this problem. *tr

At any given time, usually when we are driving the car over 25 miles an hour, the car will abruptly stutter and then stall. this is a very dangerous situation since when i am on the interstate, the vehicle will turn off while we are in heavy traffic. we have researched this issue and several hundred owners have the same problem which appears to be with the throttle body assembly. we called ford and they said that we need to take it in. for a potential serious dangerous situation, there was a lack of care and concern on their part. i believe that someone should investigate the stalling of this vehicle and mandate that ford resolve this problem. *tr

Since this vehicle was made with no gas cap my engine light is always on. any little bit of dirt i drive yet gets into the seal of the gas tank so my engine light pops on and states there is some sort of leak in the system. i can't afford to keep taking it in to pay and arm and a leg for the dealership just to blow out the seal. so my engine light is always on. this is a very dangerous problem because you never know if there is an actual problem with the vehicle or if it's just that dirt in the seal of the gas tank. big mistake by ford and they should fix it or they will definitely lose my business...which i've been ford loyal since i was old enough to drive. i will also deter anyone else i know from buying for just for the capless gas tank feature!!!!! *tr

On three separate occasions around the incident date, my 2010 fusion had a sudden loss of power accompanied by a rough idle. the "wrench light" came on during each incident. each time i moved the car to the side of the road, shut it down and restarted it. each restart took a prolonged time before the engine would turn over. after each restart, the car ran fine. the first time the incident happened i had a vehicle behind me and was nearly rear ended. i ended up taking the car to the dealership for repair. dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. given the information about the malfunction symptoms as well as the triggering of the "wrench light" i was able to provide, the service advisor along with the lead technician agreed that the throttle body was the likely problem and performed the repair. due to the fact the car was approx. 3 months past the 3yrs of the 3yrs/36k warranty it was not covered. this repair was also not covered by the epa or power train warranty nor was it a covered part on my extended warranty. this resulted in a repair being paid out of pocket. it does seem likely that ford motor co. is aware of this problem as the replacement throttle body has an updated part number (part # ds7z9e926a) from the original listed part. this information about the updated part number was provided by the service advisor at the dealership. in addition to the throttle body being replaced, an update to the vehicle computer was also required. since the writing of this complaint, the car has not had any further incidences of loss of power. *tr

I was driving through a busy intersection when there was no throttle response at alll. i managed to pull over to the side of the road and shut engine off. waited a few minutes and restarted engine again. had no problems for the rest of the day. that evening me and my young son were going out for dinner when i tried to merge into fast moving traffic the throttle response was not there. i had to swerve sharply to the right to avoid being rear ended by a semi-truck going 65 miles an hour. needless to say i had the vehicule towed to the dealer for repairs. the 3 year warrenty had exspired but the vehicule only had 25000 miles on it.i was quoted around $600 for replacement of the throttle body. this part should not have failed within the amount of miles that wee on it. i feel that ford motor company knows about this problem and is waiting for someone to lose their life before they have a recall on the part. *tr

I was driving down the highway at 65mph when all of a sudden my car lost fuel pressure. i put the gas pedal to the floor and nothing happened. i put on my hazard lights and was able to get off to the side of the road as other cars were flying by me on both sides. all the electrical functions were still on but the wrench light came on. i shut the car off and restarted it and the light went out and i went on my way. there was no warning. it happened 2 more times about a month a part each time and always after i had been on the road for at least 15 minutes. after the third time i took it to the ford dealership and had to wait over two weeks to get a new throttle body. please make them recall this part before someone gets killed! *tr
