While driving on the highway the accelerator suddenly stopped working and had to pull over in high speeds when my vehicle could not accelerate. was towed and autobody shop found that the car was in "limp mode". engine code p2111 throttle actuator control system (tac) stuck open. diagnosis shows an internal fault with throttle position sensor circuit. *tr
Myself and two passengers (including 10 month old) were riding northbound on the interstate at approximately 65 mph. our 2010 ford fusion suddenly went into safe mode (aka "limp home mode") where the car continues to have power (steering, brakes, hvac systems) but it does not respond to pressing on the accelerator. we were traveling along at ~3-5mph with other traffic still traveling full speed. extremely dangerous situation in an extremely dangerous vehicle. a ford dealer had just performed recall 13b17 on the vehicle, which recalibrated the powertrain. unfortunately they did not install a new throttle body, which is covered on this vehicle in satisfaction program 13n03. *js
I was driving at a low speed of approximately 20-25 mph behind a large truck. truck pulled over to let people pass, and when i tried to accelerate, nothing happened and the speed dropped to 5mph and did not respond to accelerator pedal. an "orange wrench, repair needed" indicator light was on as i coasted off road and turned off ignition. waited 10 minutes, restarted car and drove home without incident. there was also another incident that seemed insignificant at the time: about 2 months ago, when accelerating to go up a hill, the car did not respond and crawled extremely slow uphill, but was ok when back on flat ground. recently received letter from ford about a recall repair for problem with throttle body, causing car to lose power, and to bring it in for a calibration upgrade. upgrade is to give slightly more power if you should have problem, but does not correct problem since not all cars will experience loss of power. went to dealer after i had lost power, asking for replacement of throttle body since i had an "incident" as described in recall. they only did a calibration upgrade since they could "not duplicate the problem" at repair shop.computer diagnostics did not record a problem with throttle body. said "no codes in pcm. re-flashed pcm, return to customer". the incident that happened to me was real, and potentially very dangerous. had i been out on the busy highway, it could have been fatal. i feel that if ford knows there is a problem and refuses to correct it when a problem is reported, they are being negligent. i wanted to somehow document what happened to me, since i feel the car is unsafe to drive, and this problem will likely happen again.ford knows about the problem, but if they can't trust what is being reported by a customer, the safety of anyone who owns one of these cars is being compromised. this is a very dangerous issue. *tr
After a fill-up a smelt gas, once i checked under the vehicle i could see fuel leaking from the passenger side of the gas tank. my mechanic has removed the tank and found corrosion and a split in the top of the tank. i bought the vehicle brand new from a dealership in orlando, florida, and as far as i know it has never been submerged in water. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford fusion. while stopped, the vehicle failed to accelerate. the vehicle stalled and the check engine and service engine soon warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician diagnosed that the fuel line and flap needed to be cleaned. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. in addition, while driving at an unknown speed, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond without warning. as a result, the vehicle struck a curb and the air bags failed to deploy. a police report was not filed and no injuries were sustained. the vehicle was towed to a dealer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 34,927.
Driving on fwy at 65 mph when engine dies in my 10 fusion! pushing gas pedal resulted in no action rpm gauge to 0 as i moved to shoulder. my god was watching over me as i have no idea how i made it to the shoulder avoiding cars all around me and not causing a wreck or getting hurt. car started up after 5 minutes of prayers and drove to dealer who was less than 1 mile away. car died again 200 yards from dealership but started up and made it to dealer. they recognized the problem-throttle body issue and ford had extended warranty to 150k on car for this reason via "customer satisfaction program 13no3". issue was fixed next day, car is fine now. had received notification from ford indicating that the "throttle body may develop contamination..." the fact that the car died as i was driving on the fwy at fwy speeds and did not get hurt or hurt anyone else is a miracle. ford recognized the problem and chose to not act but chose to wait until a mechanical failure occurs before acting. i have this question for ford executives, knowing that the "throttle body may be contaminated...." would you allow your sons and/or daughters to drive a ford? ford will spend millions of $'s promoting their vehicles instead of proactively correcting the throttle body issue. my son will be 16 next year and he wants an f150, my daughter will be 16 in 3 years and she wants a mustang. they will not be driving ford products. i will ensure that all my family/friends/peers and acquaintances hear of my near death experience driving my fusion while ford knew that there may be an issue and did not act. here's a recommendation to ford - remove me from your mail advertising list and save some $. here's a better recommendation proactively correct this issue before someone gets hurt or dies driving a ford that "may develop contamination..." *tr
As i was driving i suddenly lost power and there was no response when i pushed on the gas peddle. the car was shaking and making noises. i was able to continue driving after i put the car in park and removed the key for a few seconds. a few days later this happened a second time. i was driving about 10 miles an hour and the car again lost power and was shaking and making noises. again i removed the key and waited a few seconds and was able to start the car and drive normally. the third time this happened the car suddenly accelerated and lurched forward. i had the car towed to my mechanic and he said he cleaned the throttle. he could find nothing else wrong. *js
Engine sputtering, loss of power ,cut off then restart. mutiple times to get home. manual transmission, replaced ignition coil still happening, possible throttle body problems.
Intake fuel outlet has a problem car jerks transmission is horrible
One day i fill up tank and "check fuel inlet" comes on so i get out to check it and its cap less. we can not close the cap less because it is cap less. i suggest they lift the gas tank or add a cap because no one wants to keep having to get a smoke test done. for it to only tell you to change the canister purge solenoid. *tr
I was driving the road around 50 mph.,when suddenly my car was idling! i tried to push the gas but the car was no power i gear off to the side of the road. i put the car to park. after i restart my car and seems nothing was wrong with it.i took my car to ford dealer schwabengarage ag stuttgart-vaihingen germany / garage to look what is wrong with it, they didn't see anything wrong with it. so i drove my car again, my boyfriend search the problem and found out that the throttle body is not working right ,but the dealer couldn't see the problem. my boyfriend order the parts anyway because i can feel that my car is going to break down again. i was driving this morning with my two kids when my car lose power again. i turned it off and start again and after 100 meters it did the same again. i was terrified and pray hard that the other car will not hit us. i took my car to aafes / military installation car care with the parts we purchased and replaced the throttle body. i drove my car home today and got home safely. i found out that ford fusion has been having this problem. *tr
This is the second time this is happening on my sons car. it happened five times today while driving home from his university for christmas break. each time it happens, the "wrench light" appears and then the car loses power. he had to pullover on the hwy each time and restart the car to get it to reset. this is very dangerous and it's happening to many ford fusions as i've been investigating this online. my son is only 19 yrs old and is not an experienced driver and i thought we were buying him a dependable car that we would not have to worry about him having problems like this. Traveling on n.j. parkway...suddenly, engine just stopped working and i had no control of accelerator. had been in middle lane at the time and as i tried to get to side of road cars had to swerve into around me because of the sudden loss of speed. i reported this to dealer, but service manger accredited the problem to water in gas line or dirt in filter. as of this writing, a recall was issued from throttle body problems, had it repaired 2 weeks ago, but today, same problem has recurred. *tr
Driving at 70 m.p.h vehicle just shut down. engine was at idle at 1000 rpm but vehicle would not pull off the roadway. wrench light came on. had to stop in the roadway put vehicle in park turn vehicle off then restart vehicle. vehicle ran like nothing had happened. then it started doing it over and over every 4-5 miles. n.c.c.c. has filed complaint. ford response in the most severe f.m.e.m. mode failure driver had engine power to allow vehicle mobility to maneuver to a safe location. (this is not true ) vehicle will stop in the roadway it does not have the power to pull the vehicle it idles @ 1000 r.p.m but it will not move. if ford would drive my fusion they would buy something other then a ford to drive . recall needs to come a.s.a.p. before someone gets killed. *tr
This problem has happened twice within the past 3 days. at the first occurrence, we were driving rather slowly, appx. 35 mph. the car lost power without warning, and started misfiring violently. depressing the fuel pedal had no effect. the yellow wrench warning icon on the dash was lit. we were going down a slight hill on side street, so it was easy to drift to the side of the road. we put the car in park and allowed it to run for a few minutes, but it continued to misfire and seemed starved for fuel. it did keep running for about 5-10 minutes more before we shut it off. while waiting for the tow truck, my husband tried restarting the car. it started immediately and ran fine with no warning lights. the next day the mechanic checked it but could find no issue or record of an error code. he added "dry gas" in case the problem was due to water freezing in the fuel line. the weather is quite cold. the third day (today) i filled the fuel tank and added another bottle of "dry gas". i drove appx 35 miles (in several segments) then the problem happened again. this time i was in traffic, going appx 55 miles per hour. the behavior was identical: pronounced misfiring, no power, fuel pedal had no effect, wrench warning light on. i was fortunate to have barely enough momentum to get most of the way off the highway. this time i restarted the car after about 10 seconds. again, it started right up and i was able to drive the final 6 miles of my commute. in researching the problem, it seems that the cause may be the throttle assembly. we will be taking the car back to the repair shop and i will be happy to report back on the resolution. *tr
Car driving fine when it suddenly loses all throttle response. the little orange wrench light comes on. pulled car over to the shoulder and turned off the ignition. when i turned the car back on, it began working again. this is the second time this has happened. the first incident was a few weeks ago. very dangerous to lose throttle response. upon checking internet it appears that this problem is not uncommon. you need to look into this and get ford issue a recall. *tr
The problem i am about to describe has happened twice within 5 days. traveling down the interstate sudden loss of power with no response from the throttle. yellow wrench light came on rpm's went to 1000 each time. after pulling over and shutting the car off and then restarting the engine bounced and coughed and then ran normal with no yellow wrench. i have called ford and will have the problem taken care of tomorrow. how come they all know it's a throttle body problem but ford is not addressing the safety issue with customers. it is all over the internet an obvious known problem. toyota got killed for sudden acceleration but ford does nothing for sudden loss of power. *tr
I was on an on ramp on the way in to work in the morning when my vehicle lost propulsion. i was accelerating and then the accelerator became unresponsive and the engine idled roughly between 750-1000 rpm. the 'wrench' light came in and i was able to roll to the side of the freeway. i turned off and restarted my vehicle and the malfunction had apparently cleared as the issue has yet to return, but will. i say 'will return' because the exact same thing happen 23sep while on the freeway traveling 35mph during morning rush hour. i brought the vehicle to the local ford dealership for a diagnostic test ($) and they found nothing and had no ideas as to the potential cause. i was willing to accept it as a fluke, but now that it has happened again i know there must be a problem. i am hesitant to return to the dealership for another $80 diagnostic test when it seems that this is a prevalent issue... (nearly 95% of the complaints of this vehicle on this website). is there a recall in the works for this vehicle malfunction? *tr
Vehicle almost stalled like it was starving for gas. has done it several times while driving normal highway speeds. *tr
I just got off i-59 south and was holding acceleration at around 25mph when without any indications of trouble, i get an orange wrench warning light on the dash. the gas pedal quits responding and i lose all acceleration. the engine begins losing power down to a rough idle. i pull off the main road and turn the car off. i tried turning it back on with no change. i tried turning it off and one more time and it reset and drove okay to work, another mile and a half. *tr
My 2010 ford fusion se v6 flex fuel has quit about six times over the past ten days. the first distressing incident occurred about 9 p.m. on an isolated county road with my 4-year-old grandson in the car. we were traveling about 50 mph when without warning the car stalled & seemed to lose power in the middle of the road. the car quit pulling, a wrench indicator light lit up on the dash, then starting bucking & idling erratically. i pulled onto the shoulder & turned off the key. i retried the ignition & car restarted. after making sure it would continue to run, i pulled back out & continued home. the ford dealership had just checked this car 3 wks before for "fuel inlet light" issue. told that the neck of the gas line leaks air/water (car was designed/sold w/out a gas cap which causes that light & check engine to light up). we believed that this was the cause of problem, once again, or perhaps i had gotten some bad gas. we had been to town, added fuel cleaner, filled the tank & had no problems with it. then my mother-in-law passed away two days later & the car quit out of state on a busy interstate hwy! we almost didn't get it out of the road & acted like it was not going to restart that time. latest episode was on the way home from funeral (abt 40 mls away), it quit again at 11 p.m. that night. now we've been informed that throttle body is going out. this is not only outrageous for mileage on it, but incredibly hazardous to me, my family, and other drivers on the road! given the shear number of recorded complaints/incidents (for the same problem) seen here as well as in researching online, ford should recall these vehicles before someone is seriously hurt or killed. i have been a faithful ford customer all my life, but i am thinking of trading it in on another make & model altogether! i have just about lost faith and trust in ford motor company. *tr
I was driving at about 40 mph down a very busy main street in okemos, mi when my car jumped and a wrench light came on in the dashboard then my car decelerated rapidly and wouldn't move. my car stalled in the middle of this busy street...i was luckily able to coast into the nearest parking lot before it hit 0. when i arrived to the dealership i was informed that this was a throttle body failure. i have been reading that this is a common problem in ford cars from 2010 and i think this is extremely dangerous. ordinarily at this time i would have been driving 70+ on the highway home from work it just so happened (luckily) that i needed to stop at the mall on my way home. i shudder to imagine what would have happened on the busy highway going 70 when my car stalled...it was scary enough at 40 mph. i think this is a safety issue in the 2010 ford fusion that should be addressed. this could be deadly. *tr
While driving my vehicle on the highway the throttle response became very unresponsive, and the car shut off at speed of approximately 55mph leaving my wife and infant daughter to slowly drift off the road at the best possible place. there was a "shuttering" of the vehicle, and poor throttle response before it shut off while at operating speed. *tr
My wife was merging into traffic on a main highway, while accelerating the car entered "limp home mode" and she was unable to accelerate. she managed to pull off onto the shoulder and restart the vehicle which reset the problem. this was a couple of weeks ago, today during normal driving the problem recurred and she was left waiting on the side of the road, we were again able to reset the problem and get the car home. the drive was less than 10 miles and the problem recurred once. since then while trying to diagnose the problem i have driven the car less than 20 miles and the problem has recurred numerous times. this car dose not have bad weather floor mats. *tr
My 2010 ford fusion *just* turned 30k miles;the basic warranty ended 7/31/13. on 10/13 driving 60 mph on i-95 in the middle lane in heavy traffic the car suddenly stalled-no engine power/response when i pressed on the accelerator. a wrench light was lit on my dash. with no engine power to quickly pull over, i was afraid of being hit & barely coasted over 3 lanes to the breakdown lane. i came to a complete stop & it started bucking.i realized the car had not stalled--it had lost engine power. i put it in park, turned the ignition off & on to start the car. it started fine, idled fine, no wrench light lit; i eased my way back into traffic. almost immediately the same thing happened: the car seemed to stall-lost all ability to accelerate.the wrench light was lit; this time the engine light was lit.fortunately, i was in the right-hand lane & could coast into the breakdown lane; the car started bucking again. i again put the car in park, turned the ignition completely off & on again to start the car. again, the car seemed to run fine, the wrench light went out, & the engine light stayed lit. i gingerly reentered traffic & drove home slowly in the right-hand lane.my mechanic retrieved a service code of p2111 which is the throttle body assembly. i researched-this is known problem, there have been many complaints, there is a tsb, & there has been communication between nhtsa & ford motor company. i called my dealer, explained, gave them the code, told them what i found & that it should fall under the emissions defect warranty (it is technically an emissions defect), it is a known issue and since my car was barely out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty & only has 30,000 miles on it, it was a goodwill matter.fearful of breaking down again i had the car towed ~30 miles to the dealer.they said it was the throttle body assembly & it was not covered by warranty. the repair cost would be $420.58!! *tr
My sixteen year old son was driving on the highway when a "wrench" light came on (in the dash) and the car looses all power and does not respond to the accelerator. restarting the car after pulling over results in normal operation. upon researching the issue it turns out the throttle plate needs to be replaced. this problem is not the result of abuse or difficult driving conditions and is an extreme safety hazard. i am confident it is only a matter of time before serious injury results from such loss of control without warning or indication. a search on the internet reveals hundreds (or more) of the same issue on the same car within the same mileage range - about 66,000. this problem should be subject to recall. *tr
I was sitting at a red light with my 21 month old son in the back seat. when the light turned green i pressed on the accelerator and proceeded into the intersection. the car "stalled" and stopped moving. it did not die but i could not accelerate and we were left sitting in the middle of the intersection with no movement. the car continued to idle and you could feel it trying to go but it wouldn't and i was left trying to coast out of the middle of a busy highway. i eventually managed to coast to through the intersection where i pulled off onto the shoulder of the road. when i would step on the gas the car would slightly "lurch" like it was trying to go but it wasn't getting any gas and the rpms would not climb (so not the transmission). instead the needle on the rpm would bounce slightly up and down as the car tried to move forward. once i put the car in park, turned it off and restarted it, the car proceeded to operate fine but continued to hesitate when trying to accelerate from a stopped position. *tr
The vehicles engine acts as if it were going to shut down or stall, and goes into "limp mode." this has happened several times. this has happened several times intermittently without warning. once on a 2 lane highway where we were nearly struck from behind! *tr
Spontaneous throttle body failure multiple times over the course of one week. on the highway, in a parking lot and driving down a normal street. car stalled and lurched forward repeatedly. had to quickly pull over while coasting with no ability to accelerate, then turn the car off, then turn it back on to continue driving. very dangerous. ford dealership replaced throttle body today at cost of $100 out of my pocket. i drive a 2010 ford fusion. *tr
While merging onto the interstate, the car's acceleration stopped and the car would not accelerate, found out the throttle body was failing. *tr
Upon attempted acceleration from 43 mph the car made a loud "popping" noise. the car immediately slowed and the accelerator became unresponsive. the car also began shaking and jerking. the longer the car remained on the more violent the shaking became. the second incident occurred during acceleration onto a highway. car again slowed and would not respond to pressing the gas pedal and started shaking and jerking again. both times i nearly avoided driving into oncoming traffic of 55+ mph. *tr
Traveling north bound on interstate 77. heavy (5pm) traffic. i was in the rightmost lane. without warning throttle response died. the accelerator pedal had no effect on the rpm. engine went to a rough idle speed (varying between 800 and 1500 rpm). i was forced to coast the vehicle to the right highway margin. stopped the car. turned off ignition. waited 60 seconds to compose myself. car then started and ran flawlessly. i then drove straight to the ford dealer where i bought this car / brand new in 2010. (approximately 5 miles away from where it died). a cursory internet search reveals that ford has replaced over 27,000 fusion throttle bodies on 2010's, under warranty. my car is 6 months out of warranty, so dealer said tough luck. i had to pay $438.80 for repair. "regulators and ford have logged more than 1,000 complaints. consumer advocates in north carolina convinced the national highway traffic safety administration to begin an investigation, but in six months, the case hasn't moved past the preliminary stage." please tell me that ford will be compelled to fix this known issue. i read online that ford does not consider this to be a safety issue. that is absurd. i feel very lucky that i did not cause a major traffic accident. it?s only a matter of time till someone dies! *tr
I filed an original complaint regarding sudden failure of my vehicle to move or produce any power back on 10-05-2013 under nhtsa id number 10546865. at that time i described the following: summary: i was at a stop light. the light turned green and i began to accelerate to about 10 mph when the car suddenly began running rough and i could not increase speed. it slowed down to about 3 mph and the wrench light came on and no matter how far i pushed the pedal it would not move past 700 rpm. this repeated itself several times more that day. did it again and it seemed it was increasing in frequency. took the car to the dealership and they said the throttle body failed and that it is a common occurrence. it had an error code of p2111. filed original complaint because i was informed that there was a large number of these failing prematurely and to document my vehicle. i paid the repair in october 2013 for exactly same symptoms p2111 and same conditions as all of the other vehicles in this investigation were experiencing. i kept track of nhtsa's investigation came to find out that ford had issued a "customer service campaign" earlier this year that extended the warranty on the throttle body to 10 years/150k miles and a letter would be sent out. i never received one. contacted my dealership who said they did not see anything under my vin but would send the request to ford. ford says that nhtsa determines which vehicles fall under the issue. so just contacted nhtsa via telephone speaking to [xxx] who said that since i already filed a complaint with nhtsa that she could not help me but said for me to go online and update my complaint so that the nhtsa engineers would investigate further. in warranty database i found many 2010 ford fusions produced before and after mine (**/**) with the same problem. i would like a call from a nhtsa engineer please. thank you. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Going down highway at about 50 mph when the car just seemed as if it was not getting any gas. the gas pedal would not work. second time pulling out after stopping at stop sign and when pulled out in the middle of the road it stalled out again, tried pushing gas peddle to make it go and felt as if the gas peddle was not working at all. *tr
I was driving approximately 70 mph in the left lane on i-40 when i heard a noise and then realized that i had absolutely no throttle response. i also noticed that the orange wrench light illuminated on the dashboard. this was especially frightening and dangerous given the fact that i was driving during a time of high-volume traffic, and there were cars behind me also going 70 mph. thankfully, i was able to pull over to the shoulder without endangering myself or other drivers. upon reaching the shoulder, i realized that the car was bucking and surging, and i turned off the engine. a few minutes later, i attempted to restart the car and continue driving, but upon accelerating towards highway speeds, the same problem occurred, and i moved back onto the shoulder. i had my vehicle towed to the dealership, and after inspecting the vehicle my service representative informed me that the throttle body needed to be replaced. they also informed me that there have been so many issues with this particular part, that it is on back order with ford on a national scale. quite frankly, i'm appalled that ford has yet to issue a recall on this part, and i'm afraid it will only occur after someone is seriously injured as a result of their defective throttle body. i find this extremely disheartening, and i would like an explanation from ford as to why they have not issued a recall. *tr
i purchased my ford fusion at a dealership three days ago. yesterday i was driving my car home from work and suddenly i lost the ability to accelerate, and an orange wrench popped up on my dashboard. my car started to sputter so i had to coast to the side of the road and shut down. when i went to start it back up at sputtered but started again. this happened one more time on my trip home. both times i was nearly rear-ended. upon researching this issue i've noticed that this is a recurring problem. what i have not come to understand is why you have not recall whatever part is causing this. to say i'm disappointed is an understatement. this is extremely dangerous and i really hope that it doesn't take somebody getting killed for this part to be recalled. *tr
Traveling on i-95 at highway speed in the left-most lane, the rpm dropped off dramatically and hovered around 1,000 rpm. the car did not respond to my pressing the gas pedal. the car never stopped running completely but would not run past 1500 rpm (appx.). i pulled off the side of the road, turned the car off, put it in park, and restarted the vehicle. it started fine, ran for appx. 2 miles, and did the same thing again on 2-3 more occasions. on one occasion, it didn't make it more than 20 yards. i went to the nearest ford dealer (less than appx. 5 miles from where the problem first began) and was told the throttle body needed to be replaced after a diagnostic test was performed. i was not informed of the ongoing investigation or ford's knowledge of the problem when i asked why the throttle body needed to be replaced. given the age of the car and the fact that i had little choice but to agree to the repair,i asked to keep the old throttle body and have it in my possession. i was first advised that there would be a core charge to keep the throttle body but was later told there was no core charge and was not ultimately required to pay a core charge. while waiting for the repair, i used the internet to research the matter and found several articles regarding more than 700,000 fords including my make and model. after the repair was performed, i raised the issue with someone in the service department before i paid for the repair. i was told i would need to pay for the repair (appx. $550) and there was no active program to cover the repair or reimburse me at the time. because i needed to return to work and needed my car for work-related travel in a few days, i paid for the repair but was assured if a program was instituted by ford to cover the repair, the cost would be refunded. *js
While driving down the road, the car will suddenly jerk and the check engine (wrench) light will come on and i will immediately lose all ability to accelerate. after pulling the car over and putting the car in park, the car begins to shake until i turn off the car. when i turn the car back on, it takes a minute to turn over and then drives fine until it happens again.
Throttle body failure. codes p2111 and p2112
I was driving my 2010 ford fusion, with 43,000 miles on the highway passing a car, when i experienced a jerk and could no longer accelerate. i looked in my rearview mirror to see a car approaching very quickly. i was lucky that i was only passing one car and it had already gotten by me so i pulled back over and coasted to the side of the road. there was a wrench light on. i turned car off, waited a moment and started it again. the wrench was gone. took it to the ford dealership and no codes came up. however, the etb check found a fault. the electronic throttle body was replaced. this is serious problem that needs to be corrected immediately before someone is injured or killed. *tr
Car lost all engine power and would not accelerate going down the interstate. car was jerking and shaking. the car had a "wrench" light on the dash. engine codes were p2111 and p 2112. after researching online, the issue is the throttle body. it is a sealed unit and must be replaced. *tr
Lost engine power while driving and could not accelerate or maintain speed. engine was still running however. turned off car and restarted and acceleration worked like normal. this happened again today (9/18/2013).
Driving all of a sudden car looses power in the middle of the road could of caused an accident if at that moment there were other cars close by would not start up right was afraid called aaa for toe back to my house this is not wright im going to have to fix it but ford should reimburst me & now im afraid to drive this car
I was traveling on i-65 at approximately 65 mph in the far left lane when i lost acceleration. the throttle control/drivetrain malfunction light came on and i was rapidly slowing in dense traffic with nowhere to lull off on the left side. i was able to pull off to the right through 3 lanes of traffic as the car shut off. i called my mechanic who advised me to restart it and drive to safety if possible. i done so and the warning light was gone and the car ran normally. i took it to my father's who used a code scanner and found a saved code of p2111. this is the code for tac stuck open. after investigation i found that ford has numerous faulty throttle body units which require replacement. i believe the sheer volume of these issues are indicative of a bad product which produces a significant safety hazard. i could have stalled and caused a serious accident if i wasn't able to get to the right in time. this also could pose a risk if someone was turning left through traffic. *tr
Driving vehicle and the engine starts surging and fails to response to gas pedal movement. the dtc code displayed two days later with code reader connect pre-failure was p2111. *tr
Wednesday, two days before the incident i had taken my vehicle to ford for the $423.74 recommended 60,000 miles service. the car had never stalled before this scheduled service. friday i was traveling on a three lane interstate in traffic and passing a vehicle in the left hand lane when i realized that i had completely lost power. everything was working, steering, air, radio, etc. but there was no power when pressing the gas pedal. i was placed in a dangerous situation as i made my way without power to the right hand lane and the side of the road coasting slowly. as i slowed i once tried moving the car from drive to low but still no power. when my car had almost stopped i could feel a bumpy low power as i pressed the gas. the car stopped and i turned off the engine. i immediately tried to start the car again but nothing happened. it was like the starter was bad, but after 5 minutes the car started and behaved normally. i immediately took the car back to the ford dealer and was told it was the throttle body and that there is a problem with it but not a recall. it costs over $500 to fix. i was lucky not to have been involved in an accident because of this problem. there needs to be a recall. this is unacceptable. *tr
While driving upon four occasions, the engine stopped, resulting in a loss of speed and pulling over to the side of the road amid traffic or a driving lane closest to the curb. i was unable to accelerate, turned on my hazards and slowly maneuvered to a stop. the "wrench" light immediately illuminated, which normally indicates a powertrain issue; however, during the 4th occasion, the wrench light went off and then the "check engine" light illuminated. after speaking with several service personnel members and receiving guidance, it has been determined to be the electronic throttle body. while questioning my vehicle's service concerns, i encountered another individual at my dealership with the same car and issue, which was solved by replacing the electronic throttle body. after the first incident, i let the car rest for 5 minutes, started the car back up with ease and without the same issue for 7 days. the subsequent incidences occurred within a 3 hour period. although not on the highway each time, i feared a severe accident and stuck to city streets. *tr
The first time, while driving down the interstate, in heavy rush hour traffic, the vehicle lost power and i had to make it across 2 lanes of bumper-to-bumper traffic to get to the side of the road. the "wrench" light went on and i could no longer accelerate. the vehicle stayed running, but had a very rough idle. i turned the vehicle off and it started right up and i was able to continue my trip. the next day it did it again, twice within 2 miles of each occurrence, also while driving on the highway. the second time the check engine light came on and i had it towed to the dealership. the dealership told me it was the throttle control and it was roughly $350 to have it fixed, because it was just out of warranty and it isn't covered under the 5yr 60,000 mile powertrain warranty. it only happened to me while highway driving with speeds 70 and above. not a fun feeling having your car quit unexpectedly during highway driving. it's obvious ford is having multiple issues with the same component, based all the complaints i have seen on the internet. by the way, the dealership told me i was lucky because ford just reduced the price on the part as of 9/1/13. boy, do i feel lucky! *tr
While driving on the freeway, i experienced a complete loss of engine power. the ignition and electrical power remained on, but the throttle became completely unresponsive. i pulled over to the shoulder, the check engine light came on, and i turned the ignition completely off. i turned it on a minute later, the car started up, no check engine light. throttle response was back to normal. i drove to my nearest ford dealer where i was told it's a common problem with a failed throttle body. this could have caused a huge accident, but there was no traffic on the freeway at the time.
As i was exiting rt. 35 to interstate 75, a major traffic interchange, my 2010 ford fusion died and i was forced to pull over to a very slim berm area to shut it off and start it back up again. it seems the throttle body was "stuck" and it had to be replaced. this was a very dangerous situation that i should not have been involved in due to something ford knows is an issue with fusions. please encourage a mandatory recall so that lives are not lost! i was fortunate to not have caused an accident but someone else may not be so lucky. i would hope that ford would not want any casualties on their conscious and would fix this known problem. *tr
