My wife was turning left into a parking space in a parking lot at 2mph or less when the vehicle suddenly accelerated at high rpms. our vehicle slammed into the vehicle to the right of the space my wife would have entered. heavy damage was caused to our veh. and to the parked veh. my wife was unsure if she had caused the acdt or if it was a mechanical defect. because of the very heavy and rapid acceleration, i didn't think it in any way was driver error. after it was repaired, our 2010 fusion was checked out by a ford dealer and nothing was found amiss. a year later in nov. of 2012, i was driving the car at approximately 50mph when the engine suddenly revved up about 150 to 200rpms. this didn't cause any great acceleration but, considering my wife's experience, i immediately shifted to neutral. just as i got into neutral, the engine revved up to 2500 to 3000rpms. had the car been in drive, a collision could have happened or i could have lost control. ford was contacted, car inspected, again nothing wrong. a service writer tried to tell us that the rubber floor mat was on the accelerator pedal. the mat doesn't gain weight to suddenly depress the pedal all by itself! ford's great lakes regional manager was not very forthcoming-she wasn't apparently aware that there were youtube videos of 2010 fusion owners filming their dashboards as their cars did the same as i have described above. the car is being driven regularly but both of us have a hand on the gear shift alot of the time. considering our experiences and the youtube postings, i think ford is trying to avoid an expensive recall. didn't toyota use the floor mat excuse for years? *tr
Traveling on the street at about 40 mph, car shuddered to a stop. engine light came on. had car towed home. car started the next day. carefully drove the car to the ford dealer. they replaced the throttle body. the throttle body should not be failing at 60000 miles. this should be a recall. *tr
While already in motion on the highway the car begins to decrease it's speed, vibrate and then stall out. the problem is intermittent. corrective action taken at times of event is to pull out of traffic as best as possible. turn off the ignition, put the car in park then after approx two minutes, restart the vehicle and continue driving. *tr
After gas fill up. car difficult to start. takes several tries to get it going and then stumbles and runs rough for a while. when car was new it did it a few times. incident occurred more and more as miles increased. by 90,000 miles, it almost always happens. *tr
My throttle body went out in my car it would all of a sudden stop in traffic. *tr
i have a 2010 ford fusion with a six cylinder engine. while driving , i started speeding up from an intersection, only to experience a complete and total loss of power, the wrench light came, the engine started misfiring (rough idle at less than 700 rpm), but all systems where still working. pressing the gas pedal produced no results. i was able to pull off the side of the road, stop the engine, let the car sit for about 45 seconds, and then restarted it. when the engine restarted, the car started up and ran like nothing had happened. last thursday and friday, the fusion did the exact same thing, i had a catastrophic loss of power, the wrench light came on again, the engine was misfiring (rough idle), the rest of the systems continued working. i was able to pull off the road, stop the car , and then restart. this is third time i take to the dealer, and still received not diagnostic. actually this vehicle is in the dealer workshop (automovilistica veracruzana sa de cv. av lafragua 2100 tel 011 52 229 9231920 veracruz, mexico) . the first and second visit to the dealer the diagnostic was no problem. *tr
My car had 2 problems. first, was the powertrain transmission. it's the same situation as what others described, but my car started malfunctioning on the month we bought new and less than 100 miles. i don't have the specific miles and dates because i'm recalling from 2009 and it's now 2013. when i tried to change the gear from drive to park is when i first noticed the problem. i felt a sticking on the gear and a slight awkward movement of the car. i told the ford service department where i bought it in elizabethtown, ky. not sure when, but not right away and they didn't do anything. then, a few months later, the car seem like it's changing gear on it's own, but i was on a flat road and have not touch the gear shift or not push the gas pedal any less or more, or braked. it did this a few times, so i took it, but again, the dealership did not do anything. then, later, i made a right turn to a highway with heavy traffic, but clear when i entered. my car accelerated for a second, then just wouldn't accelerate anymore, and a car got pretty close. finally, it went. i took it as soon as i can to a dealership in columbus, ga. because an accident could have happened and was scary. but, they only checked the computer system. nothing was done. then, same scary thing happen on the highway again and again. finally, i took it in 2012 and told them they have to fix this before we get into an accident. finally, they fixed it after many times of trying and before an accident occurred. it was diagnosed with transmission problem and have not had any problem since 8-1-2013 at around 37,000 miles on it. this time it's the throttle assembly, but, they fixed it right away here in hawaii. this time it just loss acceleration while driving on the road. thankful that my kids and i made it safely on the side of a busy intersection. *tr
