Coolant leaking from bottle reservoir; onto engine causing smoke
One of the many incidents: while at a city street stop sign, i pressed the gas, the engine light came on, the vehicle did not move (the engine revved without moving) i let off the gas and reapplied pressure to the gas pedal. the vehicle slowly moved, the vehicle gave a hard jerk then the vehicle moved at a reasonable speed with the gas pedal pressed while driving on the city street. the vehicle has stuttered and shook while driving since i owned this brand new vehicle. i mentioned the stuttering, jerking and shaking to 3 ford dealership service departments in the past. i was told "that's the way this type of vehicle drives", "that's how the tcm operates" and "the vehicle shifts like a manual car but operates as an automatic". my question each time was "so it's normal that my car shakes and stutters while i'm driving? this car jerks too much." i was told each time "yes." the incidents of stuttering and shaking have been visible from the vehicle's purchase. the hard jerks are occurring more frequently.

Since i purchased the vehicle (new), i have had problems with the engine. i have taken it to be repaired to an authorized ford deal during the 3 years i have owned it - once, they replaced/rebuilt the clutch, twice for updates to the computer, and a separate time for the tires and wheel well (the dealership said some of the problems were caused by unevenness in tires, the wheel well also needed repair after my tires were rotated). the car consistently struggles to accelerate after coming to stop, such as at a yield, merge, stop sign, stop lights, or from slowing down. it shakes, jerks, stutters, makes a creaking metal sound, and most concerning, stalls. i have been told by the dealership the vehicle needs to learn my driving style, however, three years is an unacceptable amount of time. i take the car to the dealership for all maintenance. i have my oil changed and tires rotated regularly, in addition to the inspection done by the dealership at that time. when i press on the gas from a slowed or stopped position, the car should accelerate, but it stalls. it consistently stalls every time i drive it. this is not safe, especially since this is a brand new car. i have continued taking it for repairs to a ford authorized dealership only, leaving the vehicle for days at a time, and the problem has not been resolved. additionally, the mileage i get with the car is lower than expected and a ford employee asserted to me it is due to the engine issues.

Power loss to drive train and vehicle displays "stop safely now" message. this had happened repeatedly while vehicle was in motion on public roads.
The transmission/engine hesitates/stalls while driving. rough accelaration.the first time this happened i was driving on the freeway 65mph and notice the vehicle was driving weird when trying to accelerate, when i slowed down the car would shake when trying to gain speed again. i immediately got off of the freeway pulled into a parking lot to look the car over. turned off the car to call someone, tried turning the car back on within 5 minutes and the car had completely locked down, had to call a tow truck to tow to dealer car had 21,000 miles on it. dealer stated the issue would be fixed some type of update needed done to the transmission. the update did not fix the problem but the dealer states everything is working properly. the car still hesitates on acceleration. i bought the car for my teen driver but i am afraid to let him drive it because i don't know how safe the car is. there is a serious issue with how this car operates on acceleration. *tr

When i put it in drive mode it goes back words.when i'm driving for about 20 min it shows my e brake is on and says transmission at fault and engin at fault
Repeated issues with transmission, shuttering when driving. also have had the care hesitate when accelerating from a stopped location almost causing an accident two different times. took car into dealer to get fixed and they stated they were unable to find issue. contacted ford motor company corporate office requesting a buyback due to the unsafe conditions, they did an "good faith review" and informed me that they would not buy back my car. the would not explain the reasoning or issue and paperwork showing the review, "ford does not have to release the findings since it was a good faith review".
The vehicle shudders when the automatic transmission shifts between first and second gear. the problem occurs when accelerating from a standing stop.
We are experiencing exactly the same issue as many other people (41) reported on this website and more people on other websites on internet. nhtsa conducted official investigation on this issue (nhtsa action number: pe13031). we have to unfortunately report that ford has not addressed this issue till this date (9-3-2016). our car was multiple times in different ford dealerships but none of them were able to resolve the issue. the replaced battery, high voltage harness, reprogrammed pcm and tpm modules several times but the serious safety issue is still present. we have experienced this issue more than 10 times since 2014 (we stopped counting), even 5 times in one day. issue: the vehicle, while in motion, suddenly loses power and driver receives a red triangle indicator and the message "stop safely now" in the instrument cluster. driver unfortunately cannot stop safely because the vehicle losses all engine power and is decelerating very fast so the driver doesn't have time to pull over while in traffic or driving on a freeway. we would like nhtsa to take action again as the issue was not addressed in 2013 as stated under nhtsa action number: pe13031. this is safety issue not only for the driver and vehicle occupants but also for other people in surrounding vehicles.
The transmission is defective, it stalls and has issues changing from 1st to 2nd gear but it was an automatic. it hesitates to go causing safety issues. countless times i have felt unsafe as the car heisted to turn or cross lanes.
While i was driving my ford focuse se it lost the power at the red light . the car died on me ,it was the scariest moment , i almost lost my life getting hit by another car trying to push the car to the side . very unsafe car , would never drive that car again !
When stopped at a light or something, car hesitates like it's gonna die. the rpm's shoot way up and if i go to brake, they like almost get stuck in high rpm. transmission shutters. tire pressure warning light stays on when i've checked the tires pressure and everything
Almost immediately after purchasing i noticed the vehicle had difficulty shifting properly. it seemed to be jumpy when i accelerated after a complete stop. then, i began to notice the car struggling to accelerate while i merged into traffic. i felt what could be best described as a frog hopping when i was in stop and go traffic. turning corners also made my car launch forward then backwards suddenly. car was repaired. condition slightly improved but i could still feel a constant hesitation upon acceleration. i became used to having to mash my foot onto the gas to get the car to accelerate normally, then taking my foot off as it violently jumped into each gear. after a few weeks, the problem began to occur upon deceleration too, lunging forward suddenly after i had come to a complete stop. i then began experienced a loss of acceleration while sitting at red lights, or in the middle of intersection, while merging onto a on highway, or going around corner. this annoying condition quickly became a serious safety issue when was almost hit on two occasions because of a failure to accelerate. clutch was then replaced again. immediately upon receiving my 'fixed' vehicle for the second time, the sputtering continued. this time it was worse. the vehicles rpms seemed to be out of sync with the gear shifts. the car was constantly revving up and down when i was at a consistent speed. when i accelerated the vehicle jerked, skipped, and seemed to lose power before suddenly kicking into drive. when i came to a stop my vehicle always jerked forward before completely stopping. there were several occasions where i nearly rear ended the car in front of me because it suddenly lunged forward after i braked. just received my car back after the third fixing and i am still experiencing the same shaking, grinding, jolting, and jumping. i have never felt more unsafe in a vehicle.

Bought a 2014 ford focus 1/17/16and 6 months after owning it, the vehicle shuddered when taking off at a green light, had lost power around corners. got a recall notice june 2016 got a new clutch and transmission power train. january 2017 problem persisted brought it back to the dealer they said its over 60,000 warranty and have to pay cash for the transmission repair . could not drive the car safely it would not shift. brought it back without recall notice june 20, 2017, and the dealer said they will file a 360 on repair of the clutch. waiting for the dealer to call now 6/21/17 . i need a reliable car for work and my family and can not drive this car. so scared driving it 3/4 close calls and rear ends. it sits as i pay for it every month.
Transmission is jerky, difficult/slow to accelerate making for unsafe driving conditions. the car has other is issues but this is the worst. it is unsafe to drive and fails to accelerate with power or speed when pulling away from a stop, changing lanes, getting onto a freeway, or during typical driving conditions. ford makes excuses - first it was the computer, now it is the clutch. this has been ongoing since i leased it as a brand new car dec. 2014.
When i first purchased the car i had issues from the start. i would press on the gas and the car would hesitate to go forward and then jerk. it felt like i was driving a manual car but i had an automatic. i found out that there was a recall on the car for this specific reason. i took the car to my local ford dealer in clarksville in and had to wait over 3 weeks for the part to come in. i was not offered a loaner car or anything. once i got the part it was ok for like literally maybe 1 or 2 months and the issues arose again. i took the car back and was told it was the last time i would be able to get the issue fixed for free. this all happened in 2016. it is now 2019 and i am still having the same issues. also the passenger side seatbelt works intermittently. and the car doors do not always latch tightly when you shut the door. i have been told several times that there is nothing that can be done. now i am stuck still making payments on a car that i do not feel safe driving. i did have a wreck in the car back in 2016 where i was pushing on the gas and it jerked really hard and then went forward violently and i hit a pole. the damage is still on my car which includes a busted front bumper and the car horn is not working.
We've taken our 2014 ford focus in many times for the clutch/shuttering/shaking issue we've had. the first time we took it in they stated that they adjusted the sensor, gave me some printed out transmission information and did not document the fact that i even took it in. the car seemed fine for about two days and it was back to normal. we took it in to that same dealer about a week later and once again adjusted the sensor and said everything was in manufacturer standards. i'm pretty sure when i buy a car i buy it for a smooth ride, not some stuttering loud engine making car. it's loud enough people stare at my car. we got the recall notice and they said they replaced the clutch and the sensor and it's been fine for about a month and now the loud noise is back so i'm assuming that it's just a matter of time before the shaking/stalling comes back. we've almost been in a couple accidents because the car stutters so bad that we can't move from the start. oh, and one funny note, we were told by the dealer not to push the accelerator pedal more than 30% of the way down when driving from a stop. so i guess i need to measure how far i put my foot down. this is by far the worst and most unsafe car i've ever had. something needs to be done about it before someone really gets hurt.
Car shakes when going from a stopped position then pressing on gas. feels like it jerks. also my catalytic converter has been faulty since 2 years after i got my car in 2014
Engine vibrates on block and is very noticable while sitting idol at stop light in either drive or nuetral. i had to dealership twice and last time they replaced stablizers that the engine sits on and it did help a little but still has same problem. the service manager said that it is the best they can do. the problem became noticable about 10,000 miles into operation.
When i accelerate my car hesitate, jerk like it is getting worst. slow down when take off and while driving
