I feel there is a transmission issue. when parked and starting the vehicle there is a loud bang from under the truck. it also shift harshly when driving at times, other times its shifts are delayed.
10 speed transmission has a pretty consistent history of shifting roughly, especially, shifting between gears 3 & 4. it actually fails to engage forward briefly and then makes a clanging noise before it shifts into 4th gear; in sport mode it will stick in 6th gear. i have reported these problems at least 4 times to shottenkirk ford in jasper ga when i have had scheduled maintenance performed. every time i've brought my truck in for service i was just told a different excuse and they found nothing wrong with the transmission. the most recent service the service department said my truck was 2 quarts low on transmission fluid and that should fix the problem. my most recent and most concerning incident occurred while i was driving down the interstate and suddenly there was a loud popping noise, the truck began to swerve because of loss of power and then it kept trying to shift in between gears and then i noticed white smoke coming from the rear of my truck. the cars that had followed me started to drop back because my truck was spraying what i believe to have been transmission fluid out. i was out of town and had to have the truck towed to a dealership in columbia sc and after they checked the dip stick for the transmission fluid and claimed it had too much transmission fluid and it was not a warrantied item and that my truck was fine to drive. this transmission problem has been quite aggravating but now it poses a serious hazard to me and my family.
Since shortly after purchased new, truck often lunges when you first cold start the truck, place it into gear with the foot on the brake, and place it into gear. it also appears to search for the correct gear while driving under normal conditions. also, occasions truck may "clunk" into gear while driving. service department reports they cannot recreate the issue but as i've stated, its not a consistent problem and there's no defining reason it would occur.
Transmission shifts are delayed and sometimes harsh. when making turns from a dead stop on paved street, the transmission shutters or bucks (excessive play in the drive system, a gummed up valve body, old trans fluid or sticking valve body pistons?)
My 2018 f150 in the mornings won't shift right if you step on gas pedal nothing happens for a few seconds and then it lurches forward and bangs it will do the same thing at night when i back out of parking spot in reverse.to go home from work. something is not right in transmission the truck only has 10,000 miles on it.this is my 6th ford truck nothing like this has ever happened before. i'm sure this is not normal or going to fix it self.
Transmission shifts very bad, cold. hesitates, and shifts late.warm, it will not shift when throttle is pushed after releasing throttle immediately before reaccelerating. left front door freezes bad in cold weather, twice in two days now, takes 15-20 minutes before it will stay latched. no other doors are affected. serious problem because the door may open while driving.recalls on this problem on other years. very dangerous.
2018 ford f150 raptor, ordered and received april 1 2018. only 7000 miles. has been into ford dealer twice for slipping transmission issues, loud banging noise and transmission rattling and slipping. have pull out into traffic several times and the transmission slips and vehicle just revs up. also caused several accidents. in motion on a highway and also city street
1.) f150 supercab drifts erratically. ford has aligned vehicle twice, but issue remains. feels like truck is in a high-wind environment, but it is a calm day. truck will veer off road unless extreme care is exercised. 2.) transmission lugs on acceleration, particularly @ 1100rpm and 38mph. 3.) hard "clunk/thump" sensation at low speeds, causing severe "whip-lash" action to occupants of vehicle. 4.)when taking slow left turn up a steep incline the truck lugs and transmission feel like it is slipping and unable to downshift, causing a significant loss of power and momentum. 5.) engine stalls when leaving stop light. dash lights come on saying" auto startstop shift to p, then restart engine."this is in the middle of a busy intersection. i am attaching a picture of the dashboard error. please notice i am still in "d" drive when this message came up.
The 10 speed transmission in this truck does not shift right. it shifts very hard sometimes not shifting at all. it shifts hard enough to cause whiplash. also the doors when it is cold out do not latch causing the door to remain open. my child almost fell out of my vehicle luckily she had her seat belt on
That has a harsh shift from 1st to 2nd gear reported to dealer - pegues hurst ford in longview texas on 10/18/2019 with 32,551 miles on vehicle. dealer stated the truck has a 10 speed transmission and they are "squirrely" and that is just how they are. 11/13/2019 from 20-30 mph 3rd to 4th didnt shift , was between gears stuck in road , then would not go into reverse , when did slammed in to gear , sounded like something hammering in transmission. vehicle has 33,339 miles on it. once again, service department said that is just how the 10 speed transmission is - "squirrely". the vehicle was in the service department for over 36 days during the two trips to service department. on 1/17/2020 drove to dealer and talked with sales rep and manager at pegues hurst ford to attempt trade and discuss the continuing problem with the transmission - manager stated "we can only fix what ford tells us to. i would call ford and discuss with them repairing your vehicle or getting you into a new one. when crossing us hwy 79 from cr 1408 in jacksonville texas, which is done daily, the vehicle will stall and or stop and then lurch forward when changing from 3rd to 4th gear and when putting into reverse there is a loud metal on metal sound and one occasion the vehicle would not shift into reverse until later that day.
Vehicle will some times hesitate during acceleration and transmission will slip - engine rpms will rise to about 2000 and then transmission will engage with a heavy clunk in the drive train. this issues has happened when engine is cold and at normal operating temp. the vehicle currently has 9000 miles on the odometer and has happened five(5) times already. took to local dealer and they are unable to tel me what is wrong
I believe there is a major problem with the transmission. vehicle frequently makes a loud bang when started. the vehicle shudders and i feel a thud in the wheel well. it's like the clutch is failing or something? shifting gears extremely rough to the point where you're jerked around. sometimes, to get into gear, i have to turn the truck off and re-start. sometimes there is no power when trying to accelerate (or the truck is out of gear) from a stop which is extremely dangerous when cars are behind you or trying to accelerate merging onto the freeway. sometimes the vehicle simply drops out of gear and 'd" (drive) is not an option. this has also happened on the freeway. i've read about a lot of owner comments that are identical to mine. reading all these issues completely agree, this issue is extremely dangerous!
The transmission will twist the driveshaft at startup, stationary, and cause the rear end to pop very loudly. i've shown ford engineering a video of it, i was told that it was normal. i've never heard of a vehicle doing this before. there is a rattling sound on deceleration, loudest when the engine is cold and lessons or maybe even goes away after warmed up. the engine was replaced earlier this year because of an oil consumption issue. the truck has memory power driver's seat and power mirrors that should go into place depending on the key fob that it detects. randomly both side mirrors will start moving and popping before going back into position. this always occurs before the vehicle is started. i've noticed that it is usually when it detects the key fob or when i use the fob for some function. the seat randomly doesn't go into the memory position at startup.
Vehicle moving while motor not running, indicator shows park.almost acts as if it were in neutral. truck has 9100 miles. in late october, i leaned against truck while it was in garage and rolled backwards about 5-6'. i have opened a claim with ford, have not heard anything back from their claims department. claim # cas-24658090-k6m8t6. i have tried contacting them with multiple attempts. only 1 of those attempts got me to that claim number. every time i call now, they state that my case has not been assigned to an agent yet, even after 2 weeks.
Transmission was rebuilt by dealership due to transmission issues and updated with newest release ford software update. after 2000 miles vehicle makes a hard shirt/clunking noise when down shifting from 5th to 4th gear and when driving slow has issue shifting from 1st to 2nd gear. lots of transmission noise with this vehicle. this has been happening a lot and is not specific to any particular time such if vehicle is cold or warm.
On initial take off, when the truck shifts through 1st and 6th gears it seems like the engine slows to the point that i have no power and then shifts. it also feels like the transmission slips. have been told this is normal, but it is certainly a safety concern for merging into traffic because i can't get up to speed fast enough to avoid an accident. ford needs to address this issue because it happens on most of their ecoboost engines and the 10 speed transmission combined. this truck has the 2.7l ecoboost engine.
The new 10 speed transmission gear hunts. while the vehicle is in motion (city street or highway) decelerating with the break and re-accelerating causes the transmission to gear hunt which can sometimes cause acceleration lag, and rarely causes the entire vehicle to jolt (simulating a fender bender feel). this has only happened so far while going about 30-40 mph while driving straight. i have not gone to ford with this issue yet as there are other concerning issues with this vehicle. also, the other customers that have reported to ford were told this is normal. this concerns me as the other issues i have had resulted in the same answer. to add to this issue i'm not sure this qualifies as the same issue but also while switching between reverse/drive/park there can at times be a large jolt. this has happened on both flat surfaces and on slight hills. as a note the break will be fully applied and the vehicle will be at a dead stop before i make any changes in the transmission function. thank you for your time.
Transmission issue: intermittent loud bang upon starting the engine. intermittent rattle during normal acceleration and deceleration. there is also harsh up and downshifts in the vehicle. during normal driving conditions, the vehicle will be up shifting and then it will lose power until it finds the correct gear, when it will then slam into gear. again these are all intermittent and hard to make happen on demand. on occasion the vehicle will be sitting at a stop light and the transmission will bang into another gear, all while being completely stationary. the vehicle has a 13,200 miles on it, and is currently undergoing an oil consumption survey through the dealership due to the motor burning oil. all of these are ongoing issues that happen on random days and times, while both cold and warm.
Hard drop in gear on start up. intermittent long delays from drive to reverse or reverse to drive. hard gear grab in 3rd and 6th regardless of speed or load. highway speeds when slowing the transmission hits hard when going down into 6th. on city streets both up and down shift associated with 3rd gear are hard. the clunk is enough to shake the truck.
Harsh/erratic shudder when shifting at approximately 1,100 rpm and approx 38 mph. power train lugging, shudder goes away over 45 mph. harsh shift feels like being rear-ended and causing whip-lash. loud thunk and then snapping sensation.
10r80 transmission. clunking, failure to shift to 9th or th gear on level open road till you have traveled for a long distance. some time you get a message saying drive mode not available. mode select is set to normal 1st position. clunlks when down shifting in tow haul mode, that is if it works at all.
Transmission has a shudder when under a load. you can push the accelerator just enough at higher speeds that it doesn't down shift to make it shudder. feels like a misfire but no codes. also periodically when you put the truck in reverse is shakes. my dealer has replaced the torque converter and valve body on the transmission per fords recommendation but still no fix. truck is still well inside factory warranty.
Transmission shifts very harshly from 1st to 3rd on takeoff. it will also clunk and jerk at times shifting from drive to reverse. driving down highway with cruise on it will rev up from 1400 rpm to 2500rpm like its in neutral and then downshift to 8th gear an not up shift. message will pop up on dash stating drive modes not available while driving.
The transmission shifts so poorly i've almost been in several car accidents trying to merge highways or merge round-a-bouts. it shifts very hard on down shifts but also lacks any acceleration at times which is dangerous.
While in motion, several items occur. it begins with following warning lights: "park brake limited function" and the "hill start assist not available". this has resulted in the cruise control not working, sudden deceleration, engine stalling, and transmission erratically shifting. this has occurred over twenty four times at highway speeds and on city streets. the vehicle has been in the shop at the dealer five times and the problem is getting worse.
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 ford f-150. while starting the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the transmission. the contact mentioned the noise stopped after the vehicle was started. in addition, the drive line was turning while in park. the vehicle was taken to kendall ford of eugene (344 goodpasture island rd, eugene, or 97401, (855) 981-5490) where they informed the contact that the failure was normal. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 9,000. *tr *tt consumer stated my f150 backing up at start up while in park.*jb
Parked in a gas station parking spot. i put the truck into park and left the vehicle on for the family. i took one of my children into the store. my wife opens her passenger door and stepped out to pick up a little mess. while in park the truck moved forward a bit and started to roll back. somehow the truck was in park or showed it was in park (it didnt move when i let off the brake prior to getting out or as i got out of the truck). after struggling from outside of the passenger side and the truck rolling back about 50 feet, my wife managed to get the shifter into park (again). the passenger door hit a concrete post and opened the door beyond what the hinges allow
Whining noise when transmission shifts gears. 5.0l v8 with 10 speed transmission
I was sitting in my driveway with the vehicle in park. i opened my door and began to get out of my vehicle and it began to roll forward. my daughter's kids that she nanny's was getting out of her vehicle and had her door open. before i could reach the brake pedal my truck ran into her open door creasing it and almost crushing the boy that was exiting the vehicle.
Intermittent transmission hesitation under acceleration, while pulling into traffic from a side street. without warning the truck completely cuts out. the engine is still running but there is no forward acceleration from the truck. this lasts about 10 seconds. two incidents so far. also very heavy, abrupt shifting, jerking shifting. also intermittent when shifting the truck into reverse while stationary there is a loud heavy clunk from the transmission.
My truck has 15,000 miles on it. the acceleration will run away frequently (press the pedal and there is a severe lag and lack of power). there will be random engine noise when decelerating around 45 miles per hour. also, acceleration will be rough when going from 20-30 miles per hour just before the it shifts into a higher gear. i took this to the ford dealer and they said there are no error codes on the trucks computer system. also, the steering will be stiff or unaligned at random times. please assist in getting these issues corrected.
With 2018 f-150 10 speed transmission is shifting hard an down shifts hard getting whiplash. downstairs too hard been at the dealership today is the second time they constantly act like there's nothing wrong with the vehicle av to reset it once before still having major problems with that new transmission. so basically in inner-city driving is somebody was to jump in front of the vehicle with downshift quickly giving driver or any passengers whiplash stop the vehicle not a very safe or practical build can cause accidents and give major problems if anybody has bad backs or necks was not disclosed at time of sale of a hard shifting transmissions
Danger!! potential extreme injury or death possible. these issues must be addressed by ford. vehicle speed control:engine accelerating on its own when in reverse. braking: would slow down but will accelerate when brake was released upon reverse. upon reversing up an uphill local side street driveway, braking, and releasing the brake, the vehicle accelerated in less than one second at a tremendous speed. when the vehicle was put into drive from reverse, the engine created a high-pitched whining sound. had there been the children in the driveway, they would have been killed. there is also a whining sound from the engine when it is running. changing gear from reverse to drive: engine creates a high-pitched whining sound reverse up a slight hill: reversing up a small hill immensely accelerates on its own. we notified the dealership when we received the vehicle, but it was not corrected.
Started vehicle as usual, shifted the shifter from park to drive. the vehicle appeared to be in drive but the transmission was in reverse. releasing the brake pedal confirmed that the transmission was in reverse (vehicle moved backwards) but the shifter showed drive. i then shifted the shifter to park but the transmission remained stuck in reverse. once i turned off the engine i could not restart because the transmission was stuck in reverse even though the shifter showed it was in park. had the vehicle towed to dealership for repair. this event happened in my driveway and did not result in damage or injuries.
The transmission started slipping around 5000 miles. the problem occurs after start up when transmission is cool. during the first drive cycle when the transmission shifts from 3rd-4th gear, it will slip really bad. once it does actually shift into 4th gear it feels like the vehicle has been rear ended. after multiple trips to the ford dealership for warranty repair, the problem still exist. the last dealership i took the truck to confirmed the slip and replaced the main control in the transmission and replaced the fluid. i picked up the truck 2 weeks later and the transmission slipped when i left the the dealership after the repair. the service tech advised me to drive the vehicle for a few days to allow it to go through its adaptive learn cycle. after doing so, the transmission still continued to slip. i took the vehicle back a week later for repair. the service tech drove the vehicle and confirmed that the slip still existed. the dealership told me that they contacted ford help hotline and were instructed to do a complete rebuild of the transmission. 3 weeks later i was told the truck was ready. i picked the truck up and drove it home with no problems. i let it sit for 24 hours and drove it again and the transmission slipped again. after two failed attempts to fix the issue, this dealership tells me that according to ford hotline, there is nothing wrong with my truck.. the truck is doing the exact same thing now as it did before they attempted to repair it. i don't understand how the exact same problem that constitutes two separate repairs is suddenly not a problem anymore because they do not know how to fix it. so now i am a ford customer with a faulty truck that ford refuses to fix.
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. also, a clunking noise was present when the transmission switched gears and the vehicle felt different. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. nye ford (1555 upper lennix ave, onye, ny) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 14,000.
This vehicle generally exhibits harsh upshifts (3rd-to-4th) and downshifts (4th-to-3rd) as indicated on the driver's ip. i have experienced multiple occasions when the vehicle will "miss" the shift from 3rd to 4th, normally when cold and under light to moderate throttle conditions. the gear indicator briefly shows 1st gear, however, i was able to apply full throttle (100% accel pedal), but had no power to the wheels (drive is not engaged), engine speed rose to approximately 3000 rpm. this condition lasted for about 2-3 secs before it shifted to 4th, the revs settled to normal/expected range and drive to the wheels was re-engaged. this is an extremely dangerous condition that leaves me without power to safely accelerate, or merge with traffic.
Truck shuts off when pulling a camper and will not run after restart unless you rev the engine and quickly pull the shifter into drive and accelerate quickly. the instrument panel shows 'auto startstop shift to p, them restart engine.' this has caused many near miss accidents. the vehicle will stall when you try to cross an intersection or pull away from a stop sign.
Transmission downshifts hard, delays of power to rear wheels, clunking noise, shuddering. been to dealership,3 times for transmission. dealership said i need to drive the truck until transmission gets worse before they can fix it. dealership said im wasting their time with warranty work. ford will not take action to help. transmission problems make the truck unsafe to drive along with its severe steering problems. please someone please help me before myself or my kids or someone else gets injured due to this unsafe truck and negligent dealership and ford
10-speed transmission hesitates/randomly shifts constantly during driving. when stopping at traffic lights, after being completely stopped, the vehicle lurches and an audible clunk can be heard from the transmission. it has always been sluggish when accelerating, today that has gotten far worse and the transmission light is on. i had a 45 minute drive home and the truck struggled to get up to 40 mph. this erratic transmission behavior makes it dangerous to drive in any kind of traffic or on the highway because you can't predict how the vehicle will behave when pushing the gas pedal.
Power is being transferred to the driveshaft when starting the vehicle in park, making the driveshaft spin backwards. a loud mechanical clunk is heard from the transmission when occurring. the vehicle is stationary when starting. after 6 weeks and three attempts to repair, ford stated "this gear state is ideal for anticipation of an engagement but also generates a positive drag to the driveline and can cause a rocking sensation of the vehicle at or just after engine start in park. the 2 loaner f-150s driven while waiting with the 10r80 transmission did not exhibit the condition.
When decelerating from driving speed, the engine shuts off at approximately 5-8 mph disabling the power steering. a message appears on the display "auto startstop manual restart required." transmission must be shifted to n or p to restart. vehicle shuts off at subsequent stops, while still moving, disabling power steering. disabling the auto startstop by pushing the button on the dashboard has no effect on this happening.
The steering constantly pulls to the left and pulls to the right. the steering has impulses that are felt in the steering during normal driving. the steering wheel oscillates and attempts to make steering corrections at any speed. the steering wheel will remain turned in one direction. for example, driving through a curve going left, hands can be removed from steering wheel and steering wheel will lock itself in position and stay turning left. the dysfunctional steering drove me off of a 2 lane road at 55mph. the poor steering of this vehicle creates an unsafe and not road worthy vehicle. the transmission can not decide which gear to be in creating pauses of power distribution to the rear wheels. the transmission shifts hard and pulls the vehicle back and forth creating loud clunking noises and rattling the passengers. the poor operation of the transmission creates unsafe driving conditions.
Vehicle will some times hesitate during acceleration and transmission will slip - engine rpms will rise to about 2000 and then transmission will engage with a heavy clunk in the drive train. this issues has happened when engine is cold and at normal operating temp. the vehicle currently has 9000 miles on the odometer and has happened five(5) times already. took to local dealer and they are unable to doplicate
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 ford f-150. while driving various speeds and changing gears, a high pitched whining sound was present. also, while driving and releasing the accelerator pedal, a rattling sound was present coming from the engine. in addition, water leaked into the cabin due to a faulty vent. the vehicle was taken to hassett ford (3530 sunrise hwy, wantagh, ny 11793), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 60.
4wd iwe system is failing, causing hubs and 4wd system to partially engage while driving. a loud rattling and grinding noise can be heard while this is happening.
10 speed transmission has been an ongoing issue, was hopeful it would resolve itself once the 5k mile break-in period was surpassed. transmission is awkward, clumsy and spends too much time hunting between gear shifts. my 2013 f150 with 105k miles on it drives noticeably smoother. ford dealer ok with no real explanation for customers.
The transmission has shifted hard since the day i brought it home. it mostly does this in the lower gear range and it seems to happen more when it when i first start the vehicle. i am not reviving the engine any higher than 3000 rpm.
While driving 60mph up a slight incline on the interstate, the truck stopped decelerating. the engine rpms jumped up. fortunately i was in the right hand lane and pulled to the shoulder and out of traffic. i was able to rev the rpms and no acceleration, while the gear indicator continued to read "d." it appeared the transmission slipped out of all gears. i coasted to a stop and apologized to my friend for the language as i was on a handsfree call. i placed the gear selector in park, noticed that there were no warning indicators on the dash, and shut off the truck. i pulled out the manual and tried to think of what to do next. finding no solutions, a friend suggested before i call a tow truck, to start it up and try to put it in drive. i did, and it went into gear normally. it has not happened again, however it has had a few unusually aggressive gear changes. i do not trust this truck with the coyote v-8 engine and 10-speed transmission combination.
Tl* the contact owns a 2018 ford f-150. the contact stated that the transmission shifted unevenly in the first three gears. when the vehicle was started initially, the rpms increased and decreased. the contact called koons sterling ford (46869 harry byrd hwy, sterling, va 20164, (703) 430-7700) and was informed that there was no recall for the failure. a diagnostic appointment was scheduled for a recall that was unrelated to the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 13,000.
