While entering freeway, i attempted to open sunroof (panoramic dual panel) and hear a loud bang followed by terrible grinding and cracking noises. as the glass panel retracted, a piece of plastic from the tracks shot out and struck me in the head while driving. after exiting the freeway i tried to close the sunroof. it would close about 80%, stop, then fully retract. due to rain, i immediately went to dealer to get the roof looked at. ford dealer was able to get the sunroof to the vent position and diagnosed broken tracks.
Windshield washers freeze up and become inoperable when temperature drops below 32f even when using rain-x. even if they thaw out from engine warm up they can refreeze within a few miles of driving when the temperature is below 32f. this is dangerous when the windshield washers fail during periods of snow and road slush if below freezing because the windshield can not be cleaned.
Rear window shattered after rear defrost was on after about 5 minutes
While driving down street this cold morning to work. i heard a pop and a crack started across the windshield then another pop and the crack grew all the way across.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. when the auto start and defroster were activated, the contact detected an abnormal odor of smoke. the contact stated that the rear window shattered and a sticker on the window melted. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the contact called dorian ford (35900 gratiot ave, clinton twp, mi 48035, (586) 792-4100) and informed them of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 44,000. *ln*jb
Driving on interstate when i heard a sound like a gunshot and found my rear window shattered. center slide was completely gone.
I turned on the rear defroster & the cabin started smoking. i pull over to get out to breathe, one minute later the back windshield shatters completely.
Driving with rear defrost on no more than 10 minutes and i heard a load pop. i pulled over and seen my rear window shattered. i saw no impact marks from anything. ford needs to fix my window. ive had the truck for 31 days now and this happened
Wipers will not shut off after wiper switch is turned to off. the wipers continue to wipe at a low intermittent speed.
I was sitting in my truck i had started it turned heat on as it was 40 degrees out. was replying to a text message so we hadn't even moved when not 5min after starting the vehicle i hear a loud bang and smelt electrical burning smell and thankfully the windows didn't completely shatter and fall out on my children in the back seat, but both panels on each side of the sliding window were completely cracked and shattering.
On march 5, 2019, the rear window shattered without impact. the condition was noticed shortly after beginning driving. outside temperature was 45 degrees.
Wipers will not turn off! can be driving or sitting still.
The back windshield shattered after getting into truck. temperature was about 60 degrees in the evening with very little sun light. there were no foreign objects found near back windshield or inside truck.
Back/rear window shattered for no apparent reason. vehicle was stationary and un occupied while parked on a city street. law enforcement initially responded to investigate criminal mischief. however, it was determined that the window was not broke by an individual or by a physical object. review of surveillance cameras verified that no one broke the window and that the window broke on its own.
Doors do no open, freeze shut in cold weather or doors will not latch/lock if they open at all. this is a known issue with ford and had been unsuccessfully addressed in technical service bulletins (tsbs) issued by ford. there needs to be a permanent solution. also the windshield washer sprayer freezes regularly. this is also a know issue that has not been resolved. it is dangerous to operate a vehicle when the windshield cannot be cleared of road spray, obscuring vision,
Was in neutral and being pulled through touchless car wash. prior to putting in gear to pull away i heard a loud bang. after looking in rear mirror seen my window all spidered. after i pulled out the bottom portion of window fell as the upper portion remained. this seems to spontaneously happen for no reason to the f150. i'm paying $412 out of pocket to have repaired. i reached out to ford and waiting for response. i believe the rear glass has a defect in the making and causes a serious risk to drivers that may get startled when driving and something serious happens. i have copy of accident report from gas station and picture of damage. no police report.
On november 15 morning i started my 2016 ford f-150 with remote start to let it warm up and went to get in and put the key in and i heard a loud bang and the back widow scattered
Fire and lots of smoke inside my truck when i used my remote start inside my garage ...dropped back seat, pulled carpet back and witness and recorded a burnt wire hanging down across rear window that kept burning and never stopped/popped a fuse or relay until i shut down the remote start. ford dealership said it was the rear defroster that automatically turns on when using remote start ...replaced entire back window and wire harness split cost with ford not under warranty '.
Windshield washer system will not pump fluid at temperatures below freezing even when using washer fluid rated for -30 degrees f. i recently was on a 1.5 hour trip with the outside temperature at about +20 degrees f. i needed to spray washer fluid on the windshield while driving and the liquid would not pump. after arriving at my destination and parking outside with no sun; i went to try the washers after letting the truck sit for 20 minutes; the washer worked fine. i pumped the container dry by repeatedly activating the washer to attempt to flush any old fluid out of the system. i then refilled the washer with -30 f rated fluid and pumped some of this through the system. after letting the truck sit overnight i tried using the washers while the outdoor ambient temperature was about +20f and again the washers would not pump fluid. i know the fluid is good, it is brand new and from a reputable supplier. the fluid is liquid in the washer fluid tank in the truck. something is wrong with the fluid dispensing system in this truck. i have also owned a 2015 ford f-150 pickup that exhibited this exact same problem. this is a huge safety issue when driving on wet winter roads.
This morning started car and turned on rear window defrost. left car for 5 minutes to warm up. when i came back cab was filled with smoke. i cut engion. when smoke cleared i saw the left and right rear window panels were smashed. after googling this it turns out to be a very common problem. the rear window defrost mechanism overheats and shatters windows.
After using my winshield wiper on 09/11/2018 in the morning, they do not turn off. any time the windshield wipers are engaged, whether the vehicle is in motion or stationary, they fail to properly turn off after use and continue to stay on for an unknown period of time or until vehicle is turned off, where they continue once the vehicle is restarted. this has become a distraction while driving, especially during conditions that do not require the use of wipers or when the use of wipers causes a larger issue by further smearing substances that cannot be safely removed by them such as oily liquids or other substances that require a different way of removal. there is also the risk of wipers not shutting off during circumstances, such as during a carwash where they can be permanently damaged and rendered inoperable when actually needed during inclement weather.

While driving to work strong elec smell and rear window exploded sounded like gun went off shattering window
The vehicle was off, not in use, parked in the owners driveway all morning. as we were about to leave, the children open the back door, got in and shut the door, when the door shut, the back window exploded outward. all except the middle motorized window part shattered. the four corners of the window had exploded.
Rear window shattered while sitting in our driveway, stationary with no one in it.
When temperatures are at freezing, door will not close. windshield wiper fluid also freezes even though rated for -40 degrees. repair was made by ford to door latch but problem continues. typically, car has been parked in cold weather. see job #2 on attached documentation for latest repair attempt. many complaints from customers on forums. this is a major safety issue!!!!
Washer fluid freezing within the line between the bottle and spray nozzle. although we are using what is rated as -27 degree fluid, the lines are freezing when the temp drops to around 13 degrees. this has caused a real safety hazard on three different occasion when trying to wipe away salt spray and all that happens is the window smears and i have had to pull off the road, get snow off the ground to help clear the windshield. i know two others that have the same make and model and they experience the same thing. ford has a technical service bulletin avail to their technicians to address the situation (tsp 16-0082) but i feel this should be included in a recall of these vehicles.
When the outside air temperature drops below freezing, the windshield washer fluid will not spray. this has happened almost every time is gets cold. i have checked to make sure the nozzles are clear and that there is plenty of washer fluid. this is extremely dangerous trying to drive when you cannot clear the salt off your windshield to see. this happens whether or not the vehicle is moving or at a stand still.
Windshield washer non-operative at 5-15 f temperature while using winter washer fluid. no change after driving 30 miles.
Rear defrost was turned on and within seconds the cabin was engulfed in a white smoke and strong electrical fire smell. as i was pulling over, the rear window exploded.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. during below freezing temperatures, the windshield wipers would not emit fluid. the failure occurred without warning. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 7,000.
While driving in winter conditions with a dirty windshield i noticed that my sprayers were not spraying washer fluid. i assumed that it was out of fluid, however when i pulled into the gas station to fill it the tank was almost full. i topped off the tank and it is still not working. i am unable to spray the washer fluid which is a significant safety concern in the winter because i cannot clear my windshield when salt / snow are sprayed up from other cars.
As we were driving on the way to school, the back windshield exploded with a loud bang. the defrosting was not on. it was in the low 50s outside, so not too cold. there absolutely no impact of any kind. also right after it happened there was a strong smell of burnt electronic in the truck, that lasted a long time.
Rear glass exploded. rear de-frost turned on, electrical circuit issue caused rear glass to over heat and burn up, along with cold external weather causing very hot glass explosion while driving sending glass pieces everywhere. glass particles very fine and caused scratches and bleeding.
During freezing conditions, my factory washer fluid would not pump. it appeared frozen, as when the temperatures rose, it started working again. this happened with about 1000 miles on the truck, and still having the factory wiper fluid.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. when the contact attempted to roll down the front passenger and driver side windows, the windows would suddenly go up. the contact called koons ford of baltimore (located at 6970 security blvd, windsor mill, md 21244, 410-298-3800), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 33,000. the vin was unknown.
When driving in morning sun, there are thousand of small specks that appear in the windshield making it extremely difficult to see through. picture attached of this condition by pointing truck (not moving) into morning sun. windshield is absolutely clean inside and out and these specks are only present in morning sun. ford indicates this is normal on all their trucks.
I have two windows on my 2016 ford f 150. passenger side up and down window moon roof on the passenger side the two above mentioned cracks/stress are with in 18 inches of each other. the passenger up and down window is now cracked from left to right.
Concerned about windshield not being thick/strong enough in 2016 f150s due to cameras/sensors behind the glass. i have a 2016 ford f150 platinum, purchased new in december, 2015. current mileage is under 4k miles. this vehicle has the 701a package, which includes lane keeping and 360 degree camera systems. within one month of purchase, the windshield was chipped due to a small rock hitting it while driving on the highway. this chip developed into an 18" crack within 24 hours. the windshield was replaced by safelite with an oem replacement - the exact same windshield as was installed by the factory. now a month later, a small rock hit the windshield and again chipped this new windshield - and within 24 hours, that chip turned into a 12" crack across the driver's sight line of the windshield. i believe this should be investigated.
My auto driver side view mirror defaults to a position which i cannot see behind me every time i use the vehicle. i was told by the dealership that ford may have intentionally set the mirror to behave this way. i forget to adjust the side view mirrors with each entry and realize the mirror is not adjusted after i am already backing, so i have to slam my brakes to stop the vehicle so that i can adjust the mirror to back safely.
