Over the past few weeks, my truck would loose power and go into limp mode randomly. i would pull over, turn the truck off, and back on. it would be okay for a couple of days and then occur again. this would happen in town and twice while on the freeway. i took it in today and had the code read: p2112 throttle actuator control system - stuck closed
Attempting to accelerate, no power. vehicle was on 2 lane highway with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. i was going approx 70 mph. i had our toddler, new born and wife in then vehicle. vehicle slowed faster than i have ever felt before. cars and trailers slamming on brakes. i'm assuming this did not trigger my brake lights and it was almost dark. so incredibly dangerous not to mention scary. dash warnings indicated no traction control, hill decent or abs. dealer is replacing the throttle body. this was a catastrophic and dangerous flaw.
These messages appeared on the information screen "hill start assist - not available" and "service advance trac". the engine started running rough, engine rpm and speed dropped and pressing on the accelerator pedal did mothing. i was going about 30 mph on a city street. i was able to get to the side of the road and shut off the engine. i then restarted it and the problem disappeared. it happened about four times in the last two weeks. this is a safety issue that has not been addressed by ford. the dealer replaced the throttle body and motor assembly for a total cost of $681.55.
Hill descent control fault/ service advancetrac warning suddenly turned on. alternated w service light. but i was just driving home from work on a 70 degree day on a dry paved road decelerating from a 40mph zone to a 30 mph zone up a slight incline. i wasn't using hill descent and traction was fine. the disturbing part was the vehicle suddenly ran rough and had no power. i could not get it to run well enough pull it over out of the traffic lane. an on off cycle returned function for a few seconds and i got around the corner before the fault occurred again. with no hills the last block i got to my driveway where a longer off period returned the vehicle to function. this type of sudden power loss could cause an accident.
Bought the truck a year and a half ago the engine has blown and now the brake master cylinder is went out probably be the brake booster next they should be reliable for this i'm 100 miles over my warranty and they were still on fix it
Vehicle was in motion merging on to interstate i-26 at 60 mph during afternoon rush hour traffic in charleston, south carolina, when it unexpectly and without warning down shifted from high gear to low gear while driving. vehicle has 66k miles on it. called ford customer service to complain and was refered to dealer. no resolution.
The wrench light first came on around 42,000 miles, but would shut off when the vehicle would be turned off. it came on a second and third time around the 50,000 and 51,750 miles. sometimes it would come back on when driving again and sometimes not. then the engine light came on at about 52,000 miles. when this came on, it would stay on. the truck would seem to lose a lot of power and the rpm's would begin revving higher while driving. this would be driving on all road conditions, highway or city, up and down hills. we had the truck in to check and the code it provided was 'dtc s-p0741 torque convertor clutch solenoid circuit performance stuck off. will have to replace tcc and if condition still exists, replace the main valve body.' the first ford dealer (while on vacation) made the repair, but this did not repair the truck. (the wrench light came back on again 131 miles after the repair and the engine light came back on again 40 miles later of the wrench light warning.) took the truck back to the ford dealer we purchased the truck at and they are still trying to determine the cause to the issue. the first time the wrench light came on, was under normal driving conditions and not towing a camper. all the remaining times the wrench and engine light came on was while towing a camper. (not sure if this is possible cause of the issue or not, but feel it is worth noting.) according to the owner's manual, the auto start/stop feature is to automatically disable when a camper is hooked up to the truck. but this never seemed to automatically disable when we were hooked up to the truck. another issue is when starting the truck up from a cold start it would make a rattling noise. this only happens from cold starts. if the truck had been runner awhile, shut off and then restarted, it did not make the noise. ford is still trying to determine what could be causing this.
I had the wrench symbol appear on my dash display and the vehicle stopped, lost power while i was in traffic. it is now at the dealer that sold it to me, but this is scary situation to lose power while driving.
Was parking my trailer and had unhooked it go in to move it forward so i could put my trailer lock on left the door open like i have done countless times put the truck in park and got out started to walk back when the engine accelerated and the truck started to move backwards turned to jump in to hit the break when the door knocked me down the front tire hit my knee and leg and the door caught a post ripping it forward
61,881 miles, numerous advancetrac, hill descent, etc. warning and check engine lights. stall suddenly in middle lane of traffic at speed of 40 mph. almost caused rear end collision. loss of all power, barely able to drift to shoulder. serious safety issue! research has revealed this is pattern problem in this model and previous versions.
When first turn the truck on and it's cold, the transmission will slip out of first gear into third and then into fifth. when you stop, the transmission slams back into first gear and jerks until it gets into second gear. only does when the teuck is cold typically. the truck has been to the dealer four times to get repaired for this issue. i'm told that it's a programming issue each time. after the programming is reset, the transmission will function correctly for a few days and then the issue will start happening again.

As i was driving down a major interstate i94 while changing lanes my 2016 f150 3.5 ecoboost entered limp mode in front of a semi i just recently passed. the semi had to slam on his brakes and i had to swerve to the side of the road to avoid a collision. the service advancetrac and wrench/service light was lit up on the dash. the vehicle would not move. the truck ran but when the gas pedal was pressed the engine sputtered and wouldnt move.
Sudden loss of power ,did not stall ,no engine light ,in the span of 1/2 mile did it 3 times ,pulled off road each time and let idle in neutralthen took off again. then it went 2 miles ok ,stopped for 2hours ,back on road again at appiroximately 1 mile loss power again ,i did same as above it di it twice more within 1/2 mile again ,then it was ok for 1 1/2 miles then did again on a really bad curve , then i drove another 2 miles to my home and called 800 # to ford ,they tow truck pick it up took to my dealer ,they had a week could not find anything wrong ,they put approximately 50+ miles on it ,no problem drove normally ,called me to pick it up no way tell what was wrong without a code ,drive till it happens again and call us , i said i'll call but if no code what happens then ,no sense bringing back to you because no no can fix ,no answer to that ,give back the old days pre computer at least you could always fix those vehicles ,with computer not even a clue. an they dare to put driverless cars on the road!! at the right time an location could cause a deadly accident!
We just took my 2016 f150 ecoboost to west texas over thanksgiving. towed under 7500 lbs. towed completely normal the whole time (15 hours) until the return trip home. about 2.5 hours into my return trip (i was towing without my husband and with two young kids on a back highway with no cell service and absolutely no stops for 2 of those hours😯) i pulled over to see where my next gas station was and my truck died. it would restart but would die again. i finally figure i'm screwed, i'll try and just hit the gas and go. so i took off and blew through a stop sign and didn't stop until i reached a gas station, where it died when i stopped.. it was saturday afternoon and all the repair shops were closed and there weren't any parts stores open. i finally unplugged the camper, thinking it was draining my battery and started it up and gassed it to get it going and didn't stop until i reached sonora and camped for the night, about 20 miles away. and then my truck was totally fine after that. i never hooked the camper back up and i had filled up the gas tank and put fuel injection cleaner into the tank and didn't have any more stalls. the only light that came on when it stalled was the battery light.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. while the vehicle was parked and unoccupied with the engine running, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. while the gear shifter was still in the park position, the vehicle crashed into the contact's boat. there were no injuries. the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to move out of park. the contact powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted and it operated normally. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
At 15000 miles the front differential bearings began to fail and contaminated the entire front differential. the differential had to be completely replaced. this could have failed on the road leaving me stranded. this was while driving on normal city streets and the highway.
Vehicle idles rough and stalls after driving for about 30 minutes or so. rpms drop to below 500, vehicle shakes and sputters, and sometimes dies. i have had the vehicle die multiple times before turning at a stop light/sign.
The vehicle hesitates, idles roughly when cold and makes a knocking type noise at idle when hot. the coolant level has gone down substantially despite having it serviced recently. we have experienced large amounts of water dripping from the tail pipe along with the occasional puff of thick smoke. the vehicle misfires and it has been verified by a scan tool (my own and fords). ford's technicians have verified the concern but have told us that without a hard fault, they are not able to look into the problem further. this issue has been brought to their attention several times with no resolution. while it may be related or unrelated, the transmission also jerks when slowing down and has a tendency to lurch forward when going from 3-2-1 gears. this has also been verified by ford and they have made two attempts using tsb 16-0015 to resolve without any improvement.
Driving 60 mph hour and vehicle suddenly lost all power. this happened twice. the vehicle hill decent light and some other warning lights would come on and the vehicle would shake violently. it would then lose all power and i had to coast off to the side, turn the vehicle off, wait 30 seconds, and restart. it would then go about a 1/2 mile and do it again. i purchased the vehicle as a certified vehicle a month earlier. the electronic throttle body has failed. however, the dealership was having issues replicating the issue and they were back ordered on the part.the vehicle has 29500 miles on it. this is dangerous as i could be rear ended. believe me, if that happens, lawsuits will fly! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. when the vehicle was shifted in the park position, the vehicle rolled backwards without warning. the contact took the vehicle to fenton ford (9515 ny-13, camden, ny 13316, 315-245-0320), but the technician was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure was not diagnosed. the failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Vehicle stall out while driving and wont start for a few minutes due do throttle body ford fails to recall..... more people are complaining same thing happens to them on carcomplains.com..... first time it happen i took it to dealer they start they couldn't figure out problem and change throttle body for me. couple week pass same thing starts happening again currently at the dealer.....
The truck hesitates when shifting from 2nd to 1st gear.. this is causing a bump in the drive train. i've taken it to 3 different dealership for repair but they cannot fix it. when i stop i have to wait about one to two seconds before i can start back off. its becoming dangerous to drive.
As i was driving about 40 mph, the truck suddenly decelerated to almost a stand still. two messages appeared on the dash board info system. service needed for hill assist and advance trac, or something similar. i had to drive home, half mile, at a walking pace which was as fast as the truck would go. there was no warning. this is a deadly flaw. how could you not have ford f150 in your database?
Truck was in park with the engine running. nobody was in the truck which was on a slight incline. it was standing still in the back yard while i was trying to get the garage door closed. it took off going through a chainlink fence, across a neighbors yard, and came to rest on a bank on the other side of the neighbors yard. the fence and brush caused several heavy scratches to the truck.
There appears to be "slack" in the drivetrain, as if it has a bad universal joint. there is often a clunk when you step on the gas when pulling away from a stop. it was recently checked at the dealer while in for an oil change. they said they found nothing wrong with it. i read on an f150 forum site that this is a rather common complaint. the dealer has told others that there is nothing wrong with it. it happens often when pulling away from a stop sign but others have reported it also happens to their truck while cruising down the highway and stepping on the gas pedal.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost total power as it rumbled and shook. also, various warning indicators illuminated, including the powertrain fault, stability control, air bag, and check service manual. the contact stated that the running board failed to retract. the contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to ford & lincoln of smithtown (440 jericho turnpike, st james, ny 11780(631) 265-2340), but the cause of the failure could not be duplicated or diagnosed. when the contact retrieved the vehicle several hours later, the failure recurred and the vehicle was towed back to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 6,000.
Sudden high vibration and shaking in rear drive train, loss of engine throttle power, while driving on freeway. loss of turn signals. able to pull over to shoulder, stop engine, and restart and event goes away, only to random happen again 50-100 miles later. 5 events, very dangerous on public hiways to loose power in heavy traffic. advance trac warning light comes on, and brake assist failure message is on screen, along with engine check light. after turning off engine, all is normal until next event. f150 with eco-boost engine, 2016
My vehicle came out of park while engine was running while i was in a store and crashed into a building in reverse. my vehicle had major damage and i also received a citation for the accident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. the contact stated that the vehicle independently downshifted after the brake pedal was depressed. the contact stated that the failure occurred only when the vehicle was in the tow haul setting. the vehicle was taken to bill macdonald ford (1200 s carney dr, st clair, mi) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a software update. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred numerous times. the manufacturer was notified, but a remedy was not offered. the failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
The transmission will not shift and will start to bog the vehicle down when going up a grade, stop and go traffic or pulling a light load. steadily increasing the accelerator does not help the truck maintain or increase speed, only totally floor-boarding the accelerator allows the truck to speed up. the ford dealer has checked the vehicle at least 3 times and said the computer could not find any thing wrong. the problem started with less than 6,000 miles on the truck and is not an issue unless in the previously mentioned situations. the problem has not happened when test driving at the dealership.
Hill assist and autotrac malfunction. 2016 ford f-150, less than 8,000 miles. warning indicator suddenly comes on and vehicle loses all power going from highway speed to 2mph in seconds without warning. happened 4 times in two weeks on straight, level road, dry and clear conditions. one time was on the highway at 65mph, others were city roads around 25-35mph. one time was after a normal right turn, others just randomly while traveling straight. i took it to the dealer and they replaced the throttle body but researching online, this appears to be a common problem with f-150s. there should be a recall considering the danger posed from a vehicle that suddenly loses power and decelerates without warning. i also read another account where replacing the throttle body did not solve the issue so it remains to be seen if this fix works on my vehicle.
This new 2016 ford f150 with 1300 miles on it as a vibration at 40 to 58 miles per hr been to three dealer no fix ever drove 2017 the same thing need recall to fix or ford needs to give money back.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. while stationary, the following error messages displayed on the instrument panel: "service advance track" and "hillside assist unavailable". the dealer replaced the sensor in the accelerator, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 6,500.

While operating my 2016 ford f150 lariat fx4 in 4a mode, i hear a audibly low noise emanating from the front end of the vehicle as i accelerate. this noise is accompanied by a slight vibration that is felt transmitting through the accelerator pedal. the noise and vibration is only detected while accelerating and only while engaged in 4a mode. there is no detectable noise or vibration in 2h, 4h, or 4l modes. this condition is present under normal operating conditions and during ideal weather conditions. driving on flat, straight highways and roads, nor turning or towing does not affect the noise or vibration that i am detecting from the front end of the vehicle. *tr
The truck has had issues with the hillassist failure, then check engine light then wrench light causing the truck to go from 45 mph to 2mph without notice. the throttle bottle also went out on this truck causing the truck to go from 45 mph to 2 mph in traffic, this is the ford wrench light. on two seperate occasions, when starting the truck and releasing the parking brake, a parking brake malfunction light flashes, then when trying to move the truck into gear it will move from park to drive to reverse, but will not move. please contact me asap. i have a detailed list of dates and occurances along with all email conversations with ford. ford soes not believe this is a problem and seems to ignore the safety concerns.
Tl* the contact owns a 2016 ford f-150. while driving at any speed, the vehicle made noises from the engine and transmission areas. the contact stated that the vehicle consumed too much fuel and the air conditioning blew hot air. also, the oil low pressure warning indicator illuminated and flashed off and on. the contact also stated that the brakes squeaked and the front passenger side tire deflated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (koons ford in sterling, va) for diagnostic testing. the dealer found nothing wrong with the vehicle; however, the failures recurred several times. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the same dealer several times and, during one of the visits, the engine was replaced without the contact's consent. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. the vehicle was not completely repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 40.
Power steering failed twice while backing up there is a shutter when coming to a stop. sometimes hard enough to feel like you were hit from behind
While driving on a highway, vehicle's low engine oil pressure illuminated, vehicle's speed dropped to coasting level and had to pull to side of highway with no ability to accelerate. this is an extremely dangerous situation where there is loss of power and the engine would not restart. oil level was checked and was near the high mark. the vehicle has 316 miles on it and had to be towed.
Vehicle entered "limp mode" at speed on interstate, loss of power. this occurred at 5k miles and after being repaired, occurred at 12k miles. both time diagnosed by ford dealer as a faulty throttle body actuator.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving approximately 40-60 mph, the floor of the vehicle and the steering wheel vibrated. the failure occurred while the vehicle was in motion and idling. the failure began the day after the vehicle was newly purchased. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the drive shaft was vibrating. the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle's suspension needed to be broken in at a minimum of 500 to 1,000 miles. the vehicle was not diagnosed with a failure nor repaired. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not experiencing any failures. the approximate failure mileage was 55. updated 07/12/16*lj the consumer stated ford was buying the vehicle back, because they were unable to fix the problem, despite replacing several components. updated 07/19/16.*jb
