We have classified the 6 complaints from 2015 Ford F-150 about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
All four doors freeze shut and cannot be opened. at one point i was able to yank open the driver door but it would not latch shut. i brought to ford last winter for recall fix and they supposedly accomplished it.
Electric rear tailgate falls down randomly while driving at speed or even while parked. tailgate has fallen 5-6 times while truck is parked in last few months and also 5+ times while car is driving. it has fallen while truck was in reverse, and while truck was traveling on country roads at speeds of ~40mph. please note - this issue seems identical to the one ford just announced a recall for on the 2017-2019 f-250 superduty trucks. it must be related. our truck was in the shop just last week before this recall was announced. this truck should be included in the recall the tailgate most recently fell 11/28/19
While driving our 2015 ford f-150 lariat supercrew on a trip from ohio to florida on interstate i-77 we were towing a 14 foot enclosed trailer. my wife and i stopped for the night after approximately 550 miles and i made sure the truck was secure. in the morning i walked around the trailer and the truck to be sure everything was okay and it was before continuing our drive. we were just north of charlotte, nc and there has been a lot of new road construction as we continued south with rough bumpy areas, changing road lanes and just a lot of twisting sections. after 2 hours and south of charlotte we stopped for fuel. i then saw that the tailgate was down. i was shocked as i looked and was glad we had not lost any items on the road, we could have killed someone. the tailgate received damage because as the twisting and required lane changes happened the trailers front tongue wheel support post was jamming against the dropped tailgate. we feel so fortunate to have not lost the heavy items in the truck that could have made us responsible for a sever accident. i took the truck to the ford dealer in mount dora, fl and was told the recall currently is for just the f-250 & f-350 models with the power tailgate. they "ran" my vin number and told me this truck is not in the same recall. even though the f-150 "lariat" upgrade model has the same power tailgate as the two in the recall. please help and require the justified recall to be specific to not just the vehicle vin or model numbers but to all those with this type of functioning power tailgate. i have called fords's consumer (866) help center and they are not admitting replacement for my damaged tailgate even though the dealer body shop manager had me present to see as they took the tailgate apart. we found inside one broken part for the mechanical latch controller that secures the locking of the tailgate.
Truck hit a utility pole in the median while traveling west on barbara jordan blvd at lancaster dr. it spun around, and landed on the east bound side of barbara jordan blvd at lancaster dr. the airbags never deployed.
Design flaw in vista sunroof on supercrew trucks is a known issue to leak. there is a service bulletin out but requires a $1200-$1500 repair fee. in addition, known flaw in lug nuts expanding to point of not being able to remove wheels. coat to replace another known defect is $14 per lug nut.major issues should be covered when related to locked wheels and water leakage into passenger compartment during operation.
The rear passenger power door lock intermittently fails to unlock the door and it will not work manually. this poses a safety hazard if someone needed to exit the vehicle in an emergency. the nhtsa 17v-652 recall has been performed although the latch was not replaced which is related to this issue as well.
The (driver's side) door sometimes does not latch completely, or will not close completely, even though we have had it repaired under fsa 18no3. we learned there was a fsa 19no2 and that the dealer should repair it again at no charge, but they want to charge us $150, even though ford says it should be free.
I was driving to work with no other cars around me when i heard a loud bang and my back window shaddered without anything hitting it. i was driving on a smooth highway that was just redone 2 years ago
Driver door would not latch shut in cold weather.
This vehicle is equipped with the "panoramic sunroof/moonfoof". it has never worked flawlessly since the day i purchased the vehicle. 3 days ago, it opened and now will not close. my vehicle basically has a permanent hole in the roof. ford dealer says this is common problem and the entire window frame has to come out of the ceiling and be replaced by the one that ford has "redesigned"...but no recall.
Rear entry doors freeze open and will not latch. recall 18n03 installed on january 25, 2019 and both doors failed to latch the next day. drove to the dealer using a ratchet strap to hold doors shut where dealer took vehicle into chop to defrost. this issue persists - previous recall by ford done in april - after winter season. have been pleading with dealer since winter of 2015 and they said their hands are tied.
I have an extended cab 2015 f-150 pick up truck. the rear suicide doors do not latch closed which leaves the front seat belt attachment unattached to the car whatsoever. i took the truck to ed shults ford in jamestown, ny and they determined the rear door latch cable is stretching out which keeps the door from latching. this is happening on a 3 year old truck. the dealer also informed me that they see this several times a week on other f-150's with the extended cab rear suicide doors. no recall or tsb has been issued so they are charging me to fix the cable and latch. this is a huge safety concern for me. the doors need to latch, how long will this "fix" last for? the truck is 3 years old, i should not need to replace door cables on the inside of the door ever, let alone within 3 years from being produced. the door cable is internal to the door and not affected by swinging the door open. i am asking for ford to address the safety concern and provide all customers with a safe, long term fix for this door latch mechanism on 2015 f-150's with rear suicide doors.
Door hinges freezing causing doors to not latch and open while driving.
Door latches freeze during cold weather. can not open doors or can not get doors to close once opened. i have had all recalls and customer satisfaction programs preformed. dealer has no other fix options available from ford. all 2015 f150's exposed to cold climates have the potential for door latches to freeze. for the past three years i have had to drive with door or doors unable to close at times. i don't think a ratchet strap holding doors closed is safe. this is a serious issue that has been continuing for the past three winters. you just never know when the latches will or will not work.
I bought my 2015 ford f150 super cab truck used in july 2015. since december 2018 the driver side door's (front & back) will not open when ice or water is present below freezing temperatures. if and when i can get them open they will not latch back. so far this winter this has happened several times. the first time was in december 2018 while visiting at a hospital in muncie, indiana. after visiting for several hours the temperature had dropped. i unlocked the doors with the remote and the door would not open. then after i pulled hard several times it finally opened but when i closed the door t would not latch. after many unsuccessful tries at getting the doors to latch i had to wrap my belt through the tops of the opened windows to hold the doors closed. the door open alarm then continued to sound for the two and one half drive home. it had rained earlier in the day but then with temperature at about 28 deg., they froze up. the next three times the same thing happened but over night, finding the same problem in the morning. i couldn't use the truck safely so it sat in the driveway until it thawed. the last (fifth) time i ran the engine and heater for about a half hour until i could get it to latch. here it is against the law to let a vehicle run while unattended. i did get an official looking questionnaire in the mail and i sent it to advantage ford in connersville, indiana (i think). i should have kept a copy for myself. this is not only an inconvenience but very unsafe.
2 f150 safety recalls: passenger side seat belt and door locking mechanism. contacted gullo ford conroe tx, they were not able to cheduje recall repairs due to inability to maintain stock and were not able to even schedule the repairs. very dis-satisfied w the response and over all management of the repairs. no sense of urgency and concern about the criticality of the recalls.
My rear passenger side door wouldn't open a couple weeks ago. it was freezing temps that day, and figured it was related to nhtsa recall # 17v652. i was unable to open the door, even though it was unlocked. it was stuck at the bottom hinge. so i took it to the mclarty food dealership in north little rock, ar. they had my truck there all day. since they couldn't open the door, they said it wasn't related to the recall. they also tried to say it was a result of a collision. this is the first time this has happened. i informed them that my truck was in a collision over a year and half ago, but the truck was completed fixed at their mclarty collision center with new ford oem parts. i even stated that the recall description even stated that the door could become unable to open because of a bent door latch cable. they still refused to fix it unless i paid them $130 diagnostic fee. because i still had a warranty on the collision repair work, i took it back to collision company. they were able to get the door off in less than 30 minutes. as predicted, a door latch cable was my issue. the collision people even agreed it was related to the recall, and sent me a picture of the bent cable.
Re: campaign 17v652000. frozen doors/locks. vehicle has had both the recall 17v652000 and service action 18n03 performed, issue still exists. doors will not close and latch, doors will not open, lock mechanisms will not function when below freezing temperatures are present, especially after precipitation. vehicle was stationary when issue occurred, however door could have easily opened if i had not realized it wasn't latched when it appeared to be. ford does not appear to have a solution to this issue, or isn't serious about providing permanent remedy. issue has happened several times when weather conditions apply.
Doors of the vehicle freeze up and don't open or after opening, they dont shut securely. i recently had to drive to my destination while holding the drivers door in a closed position while driving. door would not latch until later in the day. temperatures were not below freezing outside. this is am extreme safety issue i have been dealing with for three years on all my doors, with no proper fix from the ford motor company.
The platinum trim version includes retractable running boards. these fail to deploy on occasion and have resulted in both my wife and i stumbling when getting out and expecting the running board to be deployed. it will also deploy and then immediately retract without warning. in the best, one side or the other would deploy and then immediately retract. dealer has been unable to provide a permanent fix. last night my wife opened the passenger door, the running board deployed, and as i wife attempted to step on it, it retracted which could have pinned her leg. earlier that evening she went to exit the vehicle and stumbled after expecting the running board to be deployed. it had deployed but immediately retracted. this has also happened to me on the drivers side.
Door latch not working in freezing conditions. the vehicle has only 12,000 miles and has been into the dealer three times (two under recall) for this problem. it still has the same problem. the door will not latch either while stationary or in motion causing it to open while driving ( i've had to use a bungee cord on occasion) and it also makes it impossible to lock the vehicle when this happens. ford's "fixes" are not satisfactory and this is a safety and security issue.
My 2015 ford f-150 is subject to a manufacturer recall #17s33, nhtsa recall #17v652. i contacted my dealer hoffpauir ford at 902 n. key ave lampasas,tx 76550, tel. 888-708-4036 (service department - [xxx]), and arranged to have the recall work performed on 11-14-18. upon arrival [xxx] indicated he had used all the parts he had allocated on 4 other vehicles. i have attempted to reschedule, however [xxx] indicates he has no recall repair parts. please indicate how i may receive these parts as soon as possible. Repeat issue- this vehicle has been serviced by ford for same latch freezing problem twice through recall and warranty fixes with no resolution. vehicle was in park and the driver's side door was opened from the outside. the door latch became stuck and the door would not close. the outdoor temp was 29 degrees, and the door lock was frozen. after heating the truck for 20 minutes, latch unfroze and began working. video is available upon request.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while accelerating from a stop sign, the contact crashed into the rear driver's side of another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy and the driver's seat belt exploded, which included smoke and a burning odor. the contact sustained back injuries that did not require medical attention. the other driver was not injured. a police report was filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the body damage was repaired, but the failures were not diagnosed. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v568000 (seat belts, structure). the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 78,178.
All american ford in paramus nj will not supply a loaner vehicle for a recall that will take several hours. i was told since i did not purchase the vehicle at that dealership they can't help me.
Manufacturer recall number17s33 nhtsa recall number17v652 i have not been contacted regarding this recall.
While driving my 2015 ford f-150 ecoboost at 45 mph on a city street i had a low break fluid warning light come on. i stopped at a stop light and all seemed fine.i proceeded 2 blocks to find somewhere safe to check the brake fluid level. when i tried to stop at the next stop light i had no brakes at all!!! i went through the red light intersection with my foot to the floor on the brakes. with luck, i did not hit another vehicle. i coasted slow enough to use my parking brake (e-brake) to make a full stop. i open the hood and noticed that the brake fluid reservoir was almost completely empty. after carefully examining all of the brake lines ,fittings, calipers, master cylinder and the engine compartment no brake fluid was found leaking anywhere. i had the 2015 ford f-150 ecoboost towed to a dealership. also about a week ago during a long road trip i noticed a lot of wind noise coming from the drivers door. i was on an interstate going about 75 mph. i got off of the interstate and re-closed my door thinking i did not shut it hard enough. about 5 miles down the interstate driving about 75 mph i went over an approach (or a bump) to a bridge and the door dropped out of it's closed position and i could stick 4 fingers out between the door and door frame. i pull over at a safe area to exam the door and frame. i noticed that the door bolts (top and bottom) that hold the door hinge to the door had come loose and backed out about 4 turns. i tightened them and finished my trip. i notified the dealership so they can see why that had happened.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while attempting to exit the vehicle, the automatic running board inadvertently retracted. as a result, the contact's foot was lodged between the running board and the vehicle. the dealer (buss ford lincoln, 111 north illinois route 31, mchenry, il 60050) was made aware of the failure. the manufacturer was also contacted and stated that there was no recall for that specific failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 51,000.

Drivers door won't seal properly. been adjusted before but condition comes back. hear air coming in while driving. also see and feel door vibrating.
I have been dealing with ford after they' fixed ' my perfectly working doors after a recall. they gave me back my vehicle and the drivers door didn't work. they never mentioned that part until i got down the road ... when i called they said they had the wrong part and tried to fix with a zip tie... really? let's fast forward from end of march... door still doesn't work. i have to roll down window to get out. part is on back order. and the best part- the problem has been registered as fixed in the recall database for ford so i can't take it to another dealer without paying. so i am driving an unsafe vehicle now that was safe go figure.
Ford f150 lariat 2015 crew cab since it was new (feb 2015) has weekly, had the passenger rear door lock stick making it impossible to open the door either from the inside or the outside. i took the car to the dealer in the early days of ownership for warrantee repair but they never could duplicate the problem. the vehicle was recently in for a recall notification for a cable issue with the door opening system which could fail, allowing the door to either not open or open unexpectedly. the replacement of the cable did not fix this problem and it continues until today. on march 27th i took the door apart to see if i could locate the problem. i was concerned and anxious, that if the car were to be involved in an accident, access through the passenger rear door could be blocked, making my grandson susceptible to possible danger if he was in his car seat. he lives with me and i take him to school everyday. today the door jammed at his school as it does on 25% of the days i take him to school which causes problems in the school unloading zone. when i got home i once again tried to replicate the problem. i found the problem and will now describe it. the door lock, jams in a locked position if the door is locked and the rear passenger window is lowered more than 1". from the 1" open to full open position, the door lock will not disengage or permit the door to be opened by either the interior or exterior door handles. this occur no matter what the operating state the vehicle is in. the electric locking system will not unlock the door and manually pulling on the release button has only resulted in tearing the button from the metal rod to which it is attached (which happened today). so, any time the window is cracked open from 1" to full open, the locking system freezes in the locked position making the door a hazard and useless as an entry or exit means.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact called a local dealer (mark mclarty ford, 4400 landers run rd north, little rock, ar 72117) and was informed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the contact had not experienced a failure. parts distribution disconnect.
Vista roof hangs up when trying to open and close. diagnosis was to replace both left and right sliding glass brackets and reinitialize sunroof motors and retest sliding glass operation. the vehicle was stationary when the binding occurred. i had the same problem occur at 52,622 miles on 10/31/2019. my roof is bound up just like the original occurrence. the vehicle was sitting stationary in my garage at the time.
Moonroof will not open. fabric moonroof cover will not open or close; it is open exposing the front half of the moonroof, but leaving the back covered. when driving, the sound of passing wind is loud. before this happened, i had only opened the moon roof one or two times.
Recall remedy did not resolve the issue. the driver door doesn't latch after opening when ambient temperature is below freezing. this has happened twice, the first time less than 10 days after the recall remedy was performed on the vehicle. my truck has push-button start with keyless entry. the door unlocks when my hand is detected on the inside of the door handle and the key fob is in my possession. the first incidence: i observed the lock button popped up as i grabbed the door handle, upon pulling the handle, the door opens. i got into the truck, started it, then got out, before i attempted to close the door. i closed the door, but instead of latching, i noticed it bounced open and rested a couple of inches from its closed position. a second, third, and fourth attempt to push the door closed ended with the same result. actuating the inside handle did not change the symptom. actuating the power door lock, which cycled back to unlock, due to the engine running, did not change the symptom. i pressed the power lock button and quickly pulled the door handle before the unlock cycle executed, the lock button stayed down (locked), then i closed the door, the door latched. i unlocked the door and opened it, then closed it, it latched and operated normally. the second incident: the door bounced open, just like the first incident. the door latch continued to misbehave until i pressed the manual lock button then closed the door. the door latched. i pressed the unlock button on the key fob. i observed the door lock button pop up only slightly to return to the locked position. the other doors unlocked. a few more attempts with the key fob did not unlock the door. i entered the passenger side and climbed the center console to get in the drivers seat. i operated the door handle, which also unlocks a locked door, the door opened, then continued to operate normally.
Rear door will not latch or stay closed in freezing temperatures
All door latches become inoperable, will not open or close (latch), during wet and or cold weather. received tsb notice from ford nov. 2017, called dealer, told parts not in, we'll call. as of 2/8/2018, still no parts in per dealer. this is becoming a serious issue when doors won't open or securely close. the problem began in 2017, before the tsb was issued and has happened numerous times since.
All, i have a recall on door latches, but a cause maybe water getting in the doors, then freezing. you try to open and bending on rods occur. i have approx 2 gallons of water in door, and ford says clean out drain...when is a door supposed to get soaked and hold water inside? this can cause lots of problems in future. look at you tube videos 1000 having the problem. so bad it's going under the floor. in the world of flooding a vehicle and totaling does this become the issue? im afraid to look under my floor, because i will become very unprofessional. i'm a life long ford owner and looking for guidance please.. i called corperate ford from 1pm to 215 pm on 1/12/18 and get a recording they can't take call go to ford owner site and hang up. it's the 800 number everyone calls. why im here.. water gets in door when raining.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 2 mph, the rear driver's side passenger door became ajar. the contact was able to close the door, but the failure recurred twice. the vehicle was taken to ipswich ford (105 county rd, ipswich, ma 01938, (978) 356-6850) to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches/locks/linkages) and that the failure was attributed to the conditions described in the recall campaign. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was also contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 32,000.
Doors will not latch when it gets cold out. 10 degrees or lower.
Passenger side door does not operate when temperatures are below freezing. door will open while driving if the temp thaws the door. brought to the dealer over 3 times. apparently there is a recall on this issue but my particular vin is not included in the recall. it probably should be.
In cold weather 1 or more of the doors do not lock or unlock electrically. been a problem for 2 years now. dealer has supposedly repaired but the problem persists.
Door latches are freezing up, even after the recall "fix" of a water diversion shield. i went back to the dealer to try to have it properly fixed and they told me there is nothing they can do as, the parts we already installed. it has been freezing up every time it's below 32 and i am unable to get into the back seat without crawling through the front and manually unlocking from within. this is a huge safety factor if there were to be an accident and one of my kids was trapped in the back, among other issues of inconvenience.
Doors will not latch closed when temperatures drop below freezing. i had my vehicle brought into the dealer earlier this year to replace the latches and install the door gutter. today was the first frost since that work was completed and the doors would not close once again. fords fix to this issue does not work. i have been asked to bring my vehicle in again so they can replace the latches again. i attempted to call ford to let them know that their fix is not a permanent fix. this morning my door flung open getting on the highway. while i did not fall out i suspect it is only a matter of time and ford needs to find a real fix to this problem rather than waste time on a solution that has proven itself not to fix the issue.
I recently received a recall 17v-652 from ford for an issue with door latches. in the recall notice they state if you have a problem with the door to call the dealer to have it fixed immediately. my door has swung open twice while driving both times with my sons in the front seat. most recently this morning. i called the dealer north country ford in coon rapids mn and they said there is nothing they can do because they don't have the part to fix it. i called the manufacturer and they said to call the dealer. truck is not useable in the winter as is. too dangerous to drive.
When outside temperature falls below freezing temperatures the door locks will not unlock electrically or manually. the back doors have been opened manually after climbing over the console into the back seat and using inside door handle but then have not latched fully when closing allowing door to come open upon driving. i climbed over the console to open the back door this morning and it wouldn't open manually trapping me in the back seat at below freezing temperature because i could not climb back over the front seats. this issue was first filed with nhtsa 12/30/2016. dealer said the problem was fixed in march 2017 but is now happening again. i have had to tie a rope from handle to handle in the back seat to keep the doors closed. can not safely put children in the back seat for fear of them falling out. this truck should be red flagged until safe to operate. ford motor company has failed to fix this tsb 15-0052 and tsb 16-0155 properly and safely. the vehicle is usually parked in driveway when the door locks are frozen but has one time been in motion with the back doors not latched fully causing them to come open driving around corners before i tied the doors together. *js
Driver side door fails to remain latched after closure. after closing the door (and the vehicle registering the door as closed), i began driving and leaned against the door. a short distance later, the door unlatched itself and opened. i had to pull over and open/shut the door several times (and lock/unlock the locks) to get it to latch properly. ford has issued their own notice offering a voluntary door latch inspection and replacement; however due to the potential danger the self-opening door placed me in- this should be a mandatory recall for all fords with this type of latching mechanism on their doors. i was on a road with a 30 mph speed limit when this incident occurred and was bucked-up (luckily).
Fords recall # 17s33 nhtsa recall # 17v652 three different times last fall i could not close my passenger rear door.
Complaint - manufacturer handing of nhtsa recall 17v652 i have contacted ford multiple times regarding this recall and each time they have said i would be contacted when the parts are ready. it has been nearly a year since the original recall (nov 2017). i encourage nhtsa to assess ford's handling of this safety recall to determine if they are unnecessarily delaying required safety repairs.
