On average, the 2015 Ford F-150 starts to “feel” problems with the STRUCTURE and its various aspects after 30 777 miles.

Components Affected by STRUCTURE Issues

We have classified the 6 complaints from 2015 Ford F-150 about STRUCTURE into the following categories.

BODY 106

Recently reported STRUCTURE problems on 2015 Ford F-150

I was never notified of a recall number 17v652 ford recall no 17s33 about door latches

It has been nearly nine months since ford first reported a recall on certain ford f-150 trucks related to faulty door latches. to date, ford has still not notified effected owners how or where they can have their vehicles repaired. i encourage the nhtsa to determine whether or not ford is living up to its obligations to repair the defect on a timely basis. lives are at stake.

When the temperature gets below freezing, the door locks will not operate with the key fob or the keypad. until the temperature gets above freezing, you can't get into the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 17v652000 (latches/locks/linkages) and 18v568000 (seat belts, structure). the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. maxwell ford (5000 south ih 35 frontage road, austin, texas 78745, (512) 443-5000) was made aware of the recalls in december of 2017 and stated that parts were unavailable. the contact stated that the front passenger side door remained open on several occasions after the door was closed with force. the contact also stated that the front passenger door failed to latch. the contact repeatedly closed the door in an attempt to correct the failure. in addition, the front passenger door opened while driving various speeds. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 44,500. parts distribution disconnect.

Ford has not addressed the following safety recall notice, which they released on 16 oct 2017. according to a local ford dealership, ford has not distributed the appropriate parts to make the necessary repairs..... a frozen door latch or a bent or kinked actuation cable may result in a door that will not open or will not close condition. should a customer be able to open and close the door with these conditions, the door may appear closed, but the latch may not fully engage the door striker and there is a potential the door could open while driving.

Prior to daylight, i needed to pull off the road, and when i did, a highway marker had been bent/damaged toward the inside of the roadside lane. my truck was scrapped by the damaged highway marker.i was in motion, and i was on the i10 on-ramp at hwy 90 in tillmans corner mobile county.

Truck was in motion (straight lane) on dry pavement street. driver pushed on brakes to stop and nothing happened. truck kept moving forward and hit a stopped car waiting at a red light. after impact, the truck was driven to the curb and was able to come to a complete stop with the brakes.

Drivers side door will not latch in cold weather. it has left my truck stranded multiple times. as soon as the outside temp gets above freezing the door will latch as normal. this is a serious safety issue that ford needs to address.

When the weather temp falls below zero in the negatives. my passagers side doors freeze shut. they will not unlatch or unlock, the condition makes a vehicle unsafe for emergency exits.

Drivers door latch will not keep door shut. some cold mornings the truck can not be used. the door will open, but not latch shut. seems to have to do with the inside door handle, it will flop around and not reset. at some time as it heats up it will start working again. this morning it was 8deg, drove my child to bus stop. got out of truck and door would not latch shut. had to drive home with dome light on and holding door shut... not good for a 2 year old car. this is the third time this winter this has happened.

The trucks doors and locks often will freeze in cold weather. the locks might not unlock the doors, sometimes you'll hear the actuator trying to unlock the door, other times it is so frozen you won't even hear the attempt. the doors can't be unlocked with the key either. once you've heated the mechanism enough to enter through one of the doors (per internet postings and service bulletins, the problem is only with crew cabs) the latch that keeps the door closed is still frozen in the open position meaning you can't close and latch the door. reading internet posts about the problem, i see that people are driving around holding their doors closed and doing other dumb and unsafe things. i talked to my dealer in december and then again in late january. i was told both times that they aren't getting the parts from ford until hopefully late march 2017 to start fixing the problem. i spoke with another dealer and they advised that they are getting the parts very slowly and if i want on their repair list, i'd be #57 for repairs. i spoke with ford customer service and was told my issue had been noted and that i should check with the dealer service manager at the dealership that isn't getting any parts. sounds like a runaround. anyway, ford has issued two service bulletins tsb 15-0051 and then 1tsb 16-0155. they know there is a problem but they don't seem to care about it. when you live in a freezing climate and you can't open or worse, close your door, it's a safety issue.

I've had issues with my door latches having my vehicle door open while driving and not locking properly or shutting properly. i have also had issues with my doors being frozen shut due to moisture getting inside the door and then freezing. my dealer has tried to fix this recall twice which failed both times. i've also been notified that the recall fix is not a permanent fix by ford technicians. clearly this recall is a safety issue and i am concerned for my daughter safety being that the doors will open when they want

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches/locks/linkages); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceed a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact called seelye ford in kalamazoo, michigan (3820 stadium dr 49008) and confirmed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Drivers side front and rear doors either do not open when cold or do not latch when cold. cannot open doors from the outside with physical key, key fob or remote unlocking.

At freezing temperatures, the front drivers side door will not always open. if it does, it may not latch when closing and i have to drive home holding the door closed. i took it to the dealer last winter and they said they could not replicate the problem. apparently there is a tsb from ford identified as 15-0052. this is a nuisance at minimum and dangerous if the door will not close. my model is a super cab.

In cold weather, the rear driver side door latches are inoperable. the door latch fails to engage, allowing the door to open while the vehicle is in motion. during right hand turns, bumps in the road, or when light pressure is applied to the driver side doors, the vehicle returns a "door ajar" warning as the door open itself. this is especially dangerous in the "supercab" configuration, as the rear door also contains the seat belt for the driver. if the door were to open fully, this could disrupt the driver's ability to control the vehicle, or potentially throw them out of the vehicle. this system failure can also be easily replicated when stationary. open the driver's door and lightly pull on the rear door. you can see the latch failing to engage as the door move freely at the bottom instead of staying locked shut. when in motion, this problem occurs at all speeds, from parking lot maneuvers to highway travel. the first instance of this failure occurred at approximately 17*f. the door jambs and latch assemblies were confirmed to be free of ice, snow, or any other debris.

Windshield washer fluid frozen in lines. when pushing the washer fluid button while driving, the wipers would wipe but not washer fluid would come out causing a dangerous visibility situation. i took it to the dealer that day while they were still frozen and the dealer said i did have the correct windshield washer fluid in them, but they were having problems with them freezing, so they said they dumped more alcohol in the tank and said to let it thaw overnight in the garage (thankfully i have a heated garage, but many don't so i'm not sure what their solution would be). i asked the dealer to perform the tsb currently out that covers this very situation. they said they put more alcohol in the tank and it should be fine. the dealer was dahl ford located in onalaska, wi. this even being a problem to begin with is a alarming, and a dealer not willing to fix such an important problem when it's a known issue is just as much of an alarm! secondly, my door latches also freeze on the truck when temps are below freezing. all 4 doors of my crew cab are affected. depending on the day, it varies which one freezes. i have stopped using car washes and trying to keep my truck as dry as possible to no avail. once these latches freeze, the door will either not lock or unlock (depending on the last position of the switch), or when you open the door and shut it, the door mechanism will not grab and hold the door shut. after repeated slammings i can usually get it to lock, but this is absolutely ridiculous. i have to carry bungee cords around in case my doors won't close and i have to bungee cord them closed to drive home! i have a newborn, i can't have this crap on a truck with 20k miles! many many many many many people are having these exact same issues, i only found out how many there were after doing an online search for a fix. *tr

Doors will freeze shut making entry/exit of the vehicle impossible in temp's under 20* this has happened 4 times this winter alone. the cold temp is what's affecting it, since moisture was not present 3/4 times.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the inside door locks would freeze at very low temperatures. the contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was advised that the parts to remedy the issue were unavailable. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 32,000.

Door latches are frozen and inoperable in temperatures below freezing. doors will not open, and if they do open, they will not close. a major safety concern. truck was parked in my lot over night. events occurred during the months of 12/2016 and 01/2017. i live in north carolina, a place where it does not get below freezing often.

2015 f-150 lariat supercrew cab door locks and tail gate become frozen in cold weather. this has been happening more often lately with cold temps in michigan winter. got up this morning with my kids to take them to school, got them in the car and the door would not stay closed (rear passenger). checked the latches, the mechanics seemed to be working (handle, etc.) but i could not get the door to stay closed. happens on the doors (all 4) and the tailgate (tailgate would not open).

'2015 f-150 supercab and supercrew cab vehicles built on or before 3/25/2015 may exhibit inoperative door latches during or after freezing temperatures.' - tsb 15-0052 tsb 16-0155 (2016) door latch recall 17s33 (2017) ford customer satisfaction program/recall 18n03 (2018).... latest on record..... the door latch problems persist during cold weather causing doors to not open at all or not latch while driving. the problem has happened while the vehicle was parked and while driving. my problem started in january of 2017 and has persisted every winter since then. regardless of any repair attempts made by the dealership via ford recommended repairs. mileage at first concern is estimated.

At random times: some or all of my doors either won't close or will not open. this can happen while it is driving down the road! there are numerous videos on you tube showing this happening. the recall part that i had done with ford did not help at all! i no longer have a ford dealership in my town. when i did the last recall work for the "rain guards" i had to pay up front then wait to be paid back. this was a complete waste, they actually froze open again a few days later. there is no doubt that ford knows of this problem but they refuse to do anything about it.

Driver door frequently will not latch shut in cold weather. this means sometimes being stranded or having to drive with the driver's door swinging open. this is a widespread issue. *tr

All four doors will not open when unlocking with key, key fob, or door keypad from either side of the door; interior or exterior. this is especially dangerous in the event that the vehicle is in a crash and a passenger is unable to exit due to the door not opening or emergency crews cannot access the vehicle. the vehicle has been attempted to be repaired twice by the dealer and both times the dealer has stated that the problem has been fixed. the tsb 16-0155 issued by ford motor company is not working and they will not acknowledge the vehicle issues.

In reference to tsb 15-0052, currently referenced under tsb 16-0155 door locks become inoperable in freezing conditions. i have currently been waiting two weeks for back ordered parts. with multiple tsb's this has been an ongoing issue for ford and back ordered parts over a year later should be unacceptable. ford's national customer service was of little help, creating case # 115-897-76 and directing me to talk with the manager of my dealership. my individual experience includes a drivers door that will only open from inside and does not shut unless i manually lock the door. electronic locks completely fail. to push the lock on top of the door (in order to securely close) has become increasingly difficult, almost to the point where it is seized. driving is a safety concern not knowing the state of how functional and reliable the door latch and hardware is. door, knowingly ajar, has previously opened while driving before i found pushing the lock in allows it to close. sure hope others experiencing this issue know this trick. *tr

Supercrews rear door locks do not work electronically. also driver door locks do not work electronically(button or key fob) or manually either inside or with key outside. also once open, the door will not latch when closed. this happens when the temperature is below freezing. has only happened stationary and on different days. leaving the truck run with heat on high allows the doors to lock/latch. this is not an issue with the key lock or door seals freezing as there was no adverse weather other than the cold temperature. dealer informed me that it happens when the temperature is 22f or colder and that they have more complaints but not enough for a recall. informed that ford is working on a fix and the parts are currently backorder. saw online that it looks like this has been an issue with this style truck for over a year. *tr

The door/latches when the weather is cold the doors will not open, the latches break, the locks wont go up or down and you are either locked out r locked in and cannot open the doors in case of emergency. also- the latches don't work in cold weather so the doors will not close and they fly open while driving. my real issue is that according to the tsb ford company knew of this problem on the 2015 f150s in april of 2015 and i did not buy this truck until december of 2015! that is 8 months!! and it has happened to not only 2015s but also 2016s and 2017s! this should have been a recall. ford is getting away with it because it only happens in cold weather months and not to every ford truck. the tsb numbers are - ford tsb 16-0155 for 2015-2017 f150 door latch & locking in cold weather and ford tsb # 15-0052: here is a link to a site where there are multiple complaints in the forum https://www.fordf150.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=123522. i have video of the doors not closing after they say they fixed it. i will put a date of occurence below, but this has happened multiple times and the truck was also fixed two times for this reason, problems still persist.

Bottom latch in rear door, passenger side (supercab) would not latch shut during a cold spell, causing a warning notification while driving that the rear door was open. i pulled on bottom of door and verified that the door was not latched and it would move a significant amount. ford is aware of this and there is a ford ssm that only dealers can see on this issue (#46260). this is a safety issue and should be a recall as i had my daughter next to this door. many others are experiencing the same issue. only a matter of time until someone falls out a door. what happens is moisture is running down the doors and onto the latches. it then freezes on the latch, causing them not to function properly. this especially happens after going through a car wash on a very cold day or after a rain event and then the temperature drops. also, during the same time my front doors would not open even though the door handle would fully move. the latches internal to the door were frozen due to moisture. ford is also aware of this issue and issued tsb 16-0155 to install rain guards above the latches. *tr

When the outside temperature is less than 20 degrees fahrenheit, the front driver side and passenger side doors will not close. they are frozen in the open position. after driving the vehicle for about 15 minutes with heat on high (this usually requires one hand holding door closed) the doors will eventually latch. sometimes the driver side door will not unlock, even by using the key. when this occurs, i have to get in the truck through the passenger door. when i do this, the passenger door will not latch. when this happens i have to strap the door closed. this is very dangerous and troublesome as this is a new vehicle. *tr

I bought my f150 in the late summer of 2015. during the winter of 2015 to 2016 my f150 was garaged with no issues. during the winter of 2016 to 2017 my f150 was not in the garage and during the months of december the front and rear passengers doors locks would not open and or close. it was my option that a automatic starter would help because the truck would be able to heat up and the doors would open and close properly (hopefully). from previous experiences, after the truck warms up the automatic locks worked. unfortunately the automatic starter did not help. the truck would run around 25 to 35 minutes before the locks would unlock properly but the locking mechanism would not lock the door after being closed and other times the locking mechanism did lock the doors when closed. the last straw was the door locking mechanism was locked and my kids were in the back seat driving down our driveway to the bus stop and as i stopped the left rear door opened on its own. i exited the truck and tried to reclose the door but the door would not latch closed. i brought the truck back to a locale dealership and explained the problem regarding the locking mechanism. it was also noted that during our conversations that i have had a few times that the window washing fluid would not work. it was mentioned that there is a tsb issued regarding the two problems happening in cold weather. the dealership has had my 2015 f150 since january 16th 2017 because the parts are on back order. the pickup is not safe to drive with the doors not being able to be secured in cold weather. if there was an accident you can potentially be trapped in your vehicle if the locks don't automatically unlock as designed. after reading so much material on line regarding all the complaints on the frozen door locking mechanism, why ford has not recalled the pickup considering how dangerous this is concerns me.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that the tailgate did big time detached from the vehicle on its own. the failure damaged the wiring cable on the rear of the vehicle. the dealer diagnosed that the computer wires that were damaged needed to be replaced first in order to properly diagnose the tailgate failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but the contact had not received a response. the approximate failure mileage was 21,000. updated 01/10/17* lj *tr

The headliner is comin off on upper the connors exactly over the sun vissors and above head rest on the rears seats the pick up in now whith 23560 miles on it

The vehicle is a 2015 ford f-150 extended cab. my vehicle has not been involved in an incident, but there is a defect in the design of the seatbelt/door latches. design of the rear doors and the latches traps the rear seat passenger in the event of the incapacitation of the front seat passenger. the rear door cannot be opened unless the front door is opened first. there is no way for a rear seat passenger to be able to open the front door in the case of an accident, and there is no alternative method of egress for rear seat passengers. this is a design defect affecting all 2015 f-150 crew cab pickups. so far there i have not had an accident, but the problem should be addressed by ford before there are tragic results from the design error.

Running board failure on f150 2015 lariat. my 2015 lariat came with factory installed running boards which we need as my wife and i are both 68 years old. the running boards make getting in and out of the cab safe and easy, at least that is what i thought. after 9 months of ownership my wife fell while getting into the truck causing bruising and contusions to her legs. i looked carefully at the running boards after that incident and found that the rubber like treads that were supposed to provide traction when stepped on had come loose and were moving about 1/2" from side to side on the chrome metal step side platform. i took it to my dealer who inspected it and told me they would have to replace the running board. i was concerned about this so i monitored it carefully. nine (9) months later i found that not only the passenger side as coming loose again but so was the driver side. it would appear that the rubber/plastic composite that the non slip treads are made of are simple pushed through holes in the running board steel plate material with no protection on the inserted necks of the tread from being eaten away by the edges of the holes in the plate causing the necks of the treads to deteriorate quickly due to chafing. this entire matter and the way ford responded to my request to cover the defective parts until they can find a safe and reliable solution left me sad. my wife should not be subjected to possible serious injury for what ford's regional manager would like to classify as a cosmetic issue. step treads on a steel running board are a safety feature not a cosmetic add on. ford must know by now that this issue isn't isolated to my vehicle and that they have a problem with the treads and the design in general. it is a shame they would let a $10 tread tarnish the reviews of their new aluminum body line of trucks.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that there were drops of radiator fluid on the floor. the vehicle was driven to a dealer where it was diagnosed with a fractured radiator and needed replacement. the mechanic also stated that the way the radiator was mounted to the body of the vehicle was what caused the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 46,000.

Doors will not latch when temperature goes below 25 i have been trying to get this issue resolved since february 2016 i have received a recall but dealership says that the parts are not available the problem has gone on way too long

When cold, doors do not latch securely and door will appear a jar in gauge cluster as well as being a jar. in addition doors have popped open while in motion because they are not securely closed.

I have had over a dozen problems with the door locks in cold weather. the doors will not open and some time later you can get one open then they will not shut the door will bounce back. once i get about 10 mikes down the road with the heater blasting wide open they will finally latch closed. i have been to two dealers and no help. stationary and driving.

Doors on my super crew cab will not open when temperatures are below 22 degrees. doors are frozen shut. dealer "fixed" front doors but rear doors were not fixed, parts on nation-wide back order but dealer says it is likely ford engineers trying to solve problem with newly designed hardware.

Back doors latches will not release. i have tried to open them in a heated garage (65 degrees) but to no avail. dealer has informed me that parts are on a back order and not due till late february.

Doors won't latch when temperature gets below 20 degrees farenheit. dealer has tried twice to fix it with no luck. serious safety issue as i never know when the door will unlatch

During below freezing temperatures intermittently the drivers door won't latch repeated closing of the door and cycling of the locks don't work. warmer temps later let it latch. during below freezing temperatures intermittently the left rear door won't unlatch repeated cycling of the locks have no effect. warmer temps later let it open. glare from the chrome dash vent cause a very distracting glare on the window when using the drivers side view mirror. at a glance both sideview mirrors seem ok but when you scan across them they appear to have been obtained from a funhouse, distracting.

In temperatures under freezing, the drivers side front and rear door would not open from the outside. was only able to open from the inside. after opening from the inside, the doors would not close and secure shut. need to hold the door in order to drive the vehicle. the potential for the door to open while driving is possible as the driver may not be aware!! totally unacceptable quality as this is a big safety problem secondly, as a result of the frozen doors, the drivers side front and rear door locks will not function... the doors remain unlocked and will not lock, neither with the power function or manually.... another quality and safety problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving various speeds, the vehicle doors independently opened. the contact stated that the failure occurred only in the winter months. the failure was persistent. the vehicle was towed to f. x. caprara ford (84 caprara dr, pulaski, ny 13142) where it was diagnosed that the latches failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to the local dealer where it was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 17v652000 (latches/ locks/linkages), but failed to completely remedy the failure. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. the failure mileage was approximately 827.

While driving brand new 2015 f150xlt supercrew with 6.5ft bed i was full stopped about 20ft behind a car that was waiting for another car to turn as i looked up in rear view mirror saw another truck coming behind me down hill at approximatley 45mph the speed limit on the state route 2 lane just before entering town. i heard him lock up his brakes and slam into the back of my truck pushing me 15 to 20ft slamming me into the suv in front of me hitting me at dead stop square on in the back driving me square on into vehicle infront of me, no airbag ever deployed i was thrust agianst the steering wheel in a snapping action. the impact was so forcefull it moved the supercrew back seat from the down position to the full upright and locked in place position agianst the back of the cab. the truck was only 6 days old with 370 miles on it. with that impact front and back i would think airbags would have deployed. the force of the impact bent the frame down in the back and bent the frame up in the front see the attached pictures.

Doors not latching and lock s not working in freezing temperatures. on several occasions when the temperature drops below freezing, the door latches will not engage when you close the door. also, the door locks will not operate. i have had to drive my vehicle while holding the driver's door closed with my hand until it warmed up enough for the door latch to work. there is a tsb for this issue. tsb 15-0052. it calls for the removal of all 4 door panels. inspect latches and cables. apply grease to all components and then reassemble the door panels. tsb work was done by marysville ford in marysville, wa on 12-2-2015. problem still exists. vehicle was taken back to dealership and kept for 2 more days on january 12 2016. service department can not replicate problem in heated shop. service department told me they contacted the ford service hotline and was told there is no fix at this time. at this time i am not able to fully use my vehicle in below freezing temperatures. this is a safety concern for driver and passengers. can not latch door to drive vehicle and if in an accident the locks would not release trapping passengers inside the vehicle. ford needs to address this issue and provide a recall immediately.

Doors latches do not function correctly in freezing conditions. door will not latch closed thus forcing me to drive with a door that is not secured and could swing open.

Door latch on 2015 ford f150 malfunctioned during freezing temperatures. on monday, january 11 2016 my truck had been started using the remote start and ran for 10+ minutes (heat on),when i entered my truck and began backing out of the driveway, i noticed the door ajar light was on along with all overhead lights, the driver's side door was still ajar and would not latch. after numerous attempt to close the door it only latched after the truck warmed up. the outside temperature at the time was 27 degrees, and truck had not been exposed to rain or washed in five days. afrer researching online and many forums, i have noticed that this is an issue that has been identified on f150's manufactured in 2015. however, when i called ford motor customer service they advised according to their records they have no issues for my f150 which was manufactured in august 2015. dealer wants the truck brought in and left with them , i am not a fan of spraying a lube on door latch and claiming it's fixed. ford nor the dealer would answer my question of how did you resolve the issue with previous f150's that had this same issue or have you had any f150 trucks recently with this issue? appointment is being scheduled with dealer asap. ford should issue a recall to permanently fix door latching mechanism, so doors latch in low temperatures. from my understanding this is an issue on more 2015 f150's than just the ones manufactured prior to march 2015. no matter the weather, you shouldn't have the worry of your door closing...especially on a new vehicle. ford advised me that they would make you aware of the issue and i just wanted to make sure that you knew about the issue and voice my concerns.

This morning the temp. was 6 degrees outside, my truck was parked in the garage i opened the door got in and started the vehicle. once i tried to close the door driver door it wouldn't latch close. i tried to unlock/lock it from inside and outside the vehicle but still would latch closed. instead of getting it toed to a dealer i had to drive while holding my door closed. once i got to work (30 mile drive) the door began to latch again... this put me in a safety risk and it is a common occurrence with the new f150's from reading the forum community. please help get ford to fix it. the dealer just wanted to spray lube externally on the door mechanism which does nothing.
