Cruise control shuts off during operation. intermittently will not turn on. analog speedometer will indicate speeds in excess of 40mph slower than real speed. stuck at 40mph when comes to complete stop.
Vehicle in 4 wheel hi mode has a tendency to bind up in reverse at low speed. sometimes affects the forward motion. can count on 1 hand the amount of times this has been engaged.
The truck was running for about 15 minutes. we were going down a major highway in one of the passing lanes at approximately 70mph then without any warning power was lost. on the display trac stability came on then cycled thru hill assist and several others. i drifted of the road just past a exit. the engine felt like it was missing terribly as it cycling thru these errors. i shut it down and restarted it seemed ok, but check engine light still on, when i tried to move it started to shake and cycle errors again. i shut it down again and restarted this time it was running ok. the check engine light was still on and we drove with thecheck egine light for approximately 400 miles stopping and shuting off engine several times.light still on. stopped for 1 hour to eat when restarting no check engine light on and has been working as normal today.
With no notice or warning while driving on freeway pulling horse trailer at 65 mph engine shut down and would not restart. hill assist light came on along with skid anti-sway motion and a wrench appeared in the indicator light. steering wheel became hard to move. had to cross three lanes of traffic to get to side of road in a construction zone while going uphill towing a horse trailer eventually restarted
In early september of 2019, i was driving my 2015 ford f-150 on a major highway at about 65 mph. suddenly, the vehicle stalled and lost all power as the dashboard lite up with some kind of traction warning. i drifted to the side of the road and put it in parked. the whole vehicle shook significantly at this point. i turned the vehicle off and waited about 2minutes. i started the truck up and went on my way with no problem. (note: this incident was a serious safety issue as i was on a major roadway in heavy traffic. my 10 and 8 year old grandchildren were in the back seat). a few weeks and a couple hundred miles later, i was on a narrow mountain road going about 45 mph when the exact same thing happened. i took the truck to the ford dealer after both occurrences, but they could not find anything wrong with it, and said there was nothing they could do. i'm reluctant to drive it as this situation could cause an accident. it only has 42,000 miles on it and i use it to tow my travel trailer. i was not towing the trailer when these incidents occurred. i saw on your web site that several other people have had similar issues with the ford f-150. is there anything i can do about this? note that i bought the truck new in 2015 from the same dealer that i took it to for service. The transmission drops out of gear and cannot be reengaged until vehicle is stopped shut off and restarted. problem has increasingly gotten worse from a mild fail to engage after a three point turn around to current condition. last most dramatic event occurred yesterday while on i-75 near lexington, pulling a travel trailer when it dropped out of sixth gear in a construction zone with a tractor trailer behind the truck. vehicle went to idle, wrench light appeared. there was no throttle response and transmission would not reengage. had to pull off the side of the road and shut vehicle down. upon restarting transmission worked normally until reached destination. two ford dealerships have not been able to diagnose this problem. only one error code has appeared, p0731. transmission fluid was added and code was cleared. problem was not resolved. other dealership could not replicate problem with no codes present. ford customer care has been contacted regarding this issue. appointment made with local dealer. however, evident they do not know how to resolve. *tr
Traveling at highway speed on the interstate my vehicle downshifted out of my control from 5th to 1st gear very suddenly.
I bought this truck brand new from the dealer 8-2015. as of august 1, 2019 the truck stated vibrating between 50 mph and 75 mph while driving on the highways. i am getting a vibration from what appears to be my drive axle. it is most prominent when letting off the throttle and coasting from 75 mph to 50 mph. you can feel it in the steering wheel and you can also hear it.
While in motion, at highway speeds on a highway and sometimes slower speeds on town streets too, my truck would suddenly start flashing multiple errors and the throttle would immediately be unresponsive. in 1 second i was dead in the water. the truck would immediately start slowing down due to lack of propulsion and the engine would have a very low rough idle. the throttle would not work at any speed. the only way to recover control of propulsion was to come to a complete stop right where the problem occurred (very dangerous), turn off the vehicle and then restart the vehicle. after restart the problem would completely disappear. until it happened again. this problem appeared 3 times in 1 week, all while the vehicle was traveling uphill. i was lucky to not be in traffic at the time. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they reported the vehicle needed a new throttle body, and that this issue was common and that a recall was not in place. the repair cost is over $500.
My 2015 3.5 f150 has been experiencing sudden downshifting at random times. typically, it happens once every hundred miles or so and takes the gears from 5 or 6 all the way to 1 or 2 gear at highway speeds. it is scary especially since we are supposed to be pulling a camper across the west for a few months. first the dealership said that it was a throttle body issue so i replaced that. now they are saying that it is spark plugs. apparently, four out of six misfire at the same time randomly which they said would cause the downshift. however, i just had them replaced with new boots three months ago. the issue did start after a dealer transflush but i do not know if it is a coincidence or not.
The truck will, without any warning, just basically cease to run. engine will shake, truck will quit moving under its own power, and several service advisories will come up on dash suck as "service downhill assist, service traction control", and a few others. i stop, put in park, turn off truck, restart, and it will be clear and will go again. this has happened 5 times and is currently being looked at by a mechanic. 3 times has happened on roads with very light traffic. twice, while getting on interstate. truck has 87,000 miles.
While driving on the highway through town at 35mph lost all acceleration, message on the screen said see manual, service advancetrac, hill descent control fault and collision warning not available. stopped in the middle of traffic, could not get off the road. shut vehicle of then on again and drove for half a mile before it did it again. this time i was able to move from traffic and park safely vehicle will idle but not move. this happened ten times in two days in varying traffic conditions
Takata recall
While driving between speeds of 55-70 mph on the highway, the vehicle entered "limp-mode". the driver notification panel displayed "service traction control, service engine," and displayed an the airbag symbol. vehicle immediately lost the ability to maintain speed or accelerate. the engine remained on with power steering and brakes. after maneuvering out of a travel lane onto the should, the vehicle shuttered at low speeds until the engine was turn-off. after restarting the engine, the notification were removed and had no issues at that time. after nearly 1000 more miles of driving, the vehicle had the same issue while driving approximately 65mph on a highway. the same symptoms were demonstrated. after restarting the vehicle from the shoulder of the highway, the vehicle drove with no issues. ford dealership in seaside california advised that it was a faulty electronic throttle body. the repairs are not covered outside the bumper to bumper warranty.
While driving my 2015 ford f150 platinum (v6 eco boost) on an hwy (70 mph) the truck encountered loss of pedal response and three warning light as i coasted to a stop in heavy traffic. these three warning lights: hill assist traction control, advanced trac warning indicator, driver assistance indicator. the truck to transition to 'limp' mode (accelerator and power steering doesn't work) which a dangerous and scary. most 'limp' mode incidents have occurred while descending downhill, has occurred seven times so far. i have taken it to the dealer, and they just clear code and say your good ($130 diagnostic fee). then the error occurs the same day. with more online research there a massive problem with the throttle body which causes this to happen. there needs to be a ford recall for this before someone gets hurt.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. after the contact arrived home, parked the vehicle, and entered the house, his son informed him that the vehicle rolled out of the driveway. the contact's wife jumped in the vehicle from the passenger side and managed to depress the brake pedal with her hands. the failure was recorded via the doorbell camera. there was no warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to gus machado ford (1200 w 49th st, hialeah, fl 33012, (305) 820-2560), but they did not diagnose or repair the vehicle since there were no loaner vehicles available. the vehicle was then taken to midway ford (8155 w flagler st, miami, fl 33144, (305) 921-4148) where the secretary refused to schedule an appointment and would not review the video footage. the service manager refused to assist the contact and stated that the failure was related to a transmission error. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. the failure mileage was 53,257.
Truck is going into limp mode randomly and idling rough with no throttle response. getting dtc code p2112, electronic throttle body actuator stuck closed. thoroughly cleaned throttle body and it is still happening. this happens randomly driving down the road leaving me with no throttle response
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle lost acceleration and lunged forward. in addition, the traction control and hillside assist warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road and was restarted. tamiami ford (1471 airport-pulling rd, naples, fl 34104, (239) 643-3673) repaired the electric throttle body. the vehicle was repaired. the diagnosis information was unavailable. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 38,000.
Transmission shifting erratic.
In normal driving operations, the 6 speed automatic transmission has a incredibly stiff downshift from 5th gear to 4th gear. in slick conditions can cause the truck to lose traction.
Truck unexpectedly lost power while driving on state highway. dash lit up with service advancetrac, hill descent fault, see manual, airbag fault, and the service wrench. immediately went into limp mode. turned engine off, restarted and continued driving.
When i accelerate the engine stutters and loses power. my check engine lighr flashes sometimes and sometimes remains on. the code shows a misfire. i see that the exact same issue happened with previous model year eco-boost trucks.
Intermittent grinding noise from integrated wheel ends and multiple replacements of wheel hubs that have failed to permanently fix the problem. the truck has been serviced on 09-20-18 and diagnosed as a failed 4x4 check valve. the problem was not fixed and returned to the shop on 10-16-18 where the problem was diagnosed as failed wheel bearings/hub assembly. the problem was temporarily fixed until it returned again and truck returned to shop on 03-22-2019. the shop again replaced the wheel bearings/hub assembly. the problem was temporarily resolved again until the front end noise returned again in november 2019. the truck is scheduled for the same service on 12-11-2019.
While driving my truck (typically at moderate speeds - 20 - 30mph) it will suddenly reduce rpms to about 500 and the speed will drop to around 5 mph. simultaneously with that occurring i will receive the following warning indicators "hill start assist not available" then another warning "hill descent control fault" then another warning "service advancetrac" then "see manual". this happens typically while accelerating and has occurred on city streets as well as while merging on a highway on ramp (bad situation). the resolution is to turn the car off an let it sit for a second then start it and drive slowly. this is widely documented across the internet with no identified cause and constitutes a severe safety hazard.
Have reoccurring issues with a clutch slip. i've lost power traction on ice, rain slick surfaces and now off road while going up a steep mountain road. i almost went over a mountain side. looking online several complaints and videos many are referring to as the " squawking" it does appear their is a tsb, ford is aware but wont make the recall official. ive been trying to get the dealership to review and have it serviced but was told they can only service it if they can replicate it. the problem is the problem is random and only under certain road conditions. youtube has some videos here is one- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0kstma5jau this is exactly what is happening to my vehicle and apparently looking online several hundreds of others.
2015 f150 2.7l ecoboost 31,908 miles... upon merging into traffic truck suddenly surges, followed by audible bang then abruptly loses all power "no driving conditions out of the ordinary, not under hard acceleration." warning lights on the dash light up and i have no control of vehicle. luckily i was fortunate to not have much traffic around me at the time and promptly coasted into a deserted parking lot to call my dealership. i am afraid to drive my truck now for fear of causing an accident due to mechanical/electrical failure, i don't want to die and don't want to put anyone it that position either. dealer replaced the throttle body and says its ok to drive yet the throttle body they used as a replacement is no different then the one that failed how can that be safe? i'd like them to trust a truck that ceased all essential operations (brakes, acceleration, power steering) with a wife and kids in the vehicle during morning rush hour in the fourth largest city in the united states with speeding drivers who don't pay attention to the road in front of them, then we will talk. this is a huge safety concern and a known problem with many other ford vehicles!!! fix it before someone gets hurt or dies as a result! do the right thing and hold the manufactures responsible its why we have the nhtsa. how is there not a massive recall with the eco boost engines in regards to the faulty throttle body, anything less is unacceptable. does someone have to die first?
When going up a steep grade pulling a camper i lost power and the check engine light came on when i was on level ground the power power came back in the check engine light went off
My f-150 has had 2 turbos in 1 year go bad on it, causing me to not be able to accelerate at highway speeds. losing gas mileage and coolant also. my tire sensor has also gone bad on the truck and caused me to over inflate it.
At times my 2015 f150 loses all power and go to a low power/ "limp mode" setting. cautions received are (1) service advance trac, (2) hill descent control fault, (3) hill start assist not avail, (4) traaction control fault light. when this occurs, the vehicle goes to a very low forward power setting (<5mph), runs extremely rough to the point where the vehicle shakes aggressively. this problem is intermittent in nature, and yesterday was the final straw. this suddent oss of power occurred on a busy road and i nearly got rear ended. i immediately limped off the road and was able to get the vehicle towed to the dealership in castle rock, co. currently i'm standing by for the mechanics diagnosis. of note, i do see several similar write-ups of this problem on the nhtsa site regarding the 2015 f150. ironically, a similar occurrence (ref. nhstsa id#11083485) happened right up the road from me in castle rock, co (4/5/18). i hope ford is aware of this extremely dangerous, recurring problem within its f150 fleet.
Truck stalls due to throttle body actuator sticking. vehicle becomes disabled/stalled and applies the brakes. occurs without notice at any speed. occurs on highway, city streets, and dirt roads. requires throttle body replacement. similar recalls did occur for the ford throttle body for other models and years (e.g. 13n03 program). dealer indicates it is not covered under powertrain warranty (although it should be) and costs $600 to replace.
Vehicle lost power and flashed 3 warning messages. 1) hill start assist not available. 2) see manual. 3) service advance trac. in addition the service engine light stays on. all of this happened while i was making a left turn in traffic almost causing a collision. this is the second time it has happened. after first time dealer was contacted and service department reported no problems found. appointment currently scheduled to look at it again.
This issue has now happened 6 times without showing a pattern. while driving the vehicle completely loses all throttle power and the message center displays 'service advancetrac' 'hill start assist disabled' and the abs and service engine lights illuminate. this has happened on back roads at slower speeds and on highways at 70 mph. again, all throttle power is lost. this issue has been reported on numerous forums and there have been 2 consensus fixes, replace throttle body and an apparent issue with the tightness of a throttle cable.
The front differential needs to be rebuilt. possible failure due to failed bearing seals. causing noise that will lead to bearing, axle failure. when i described the problem everyone knew exactly what the problem was. i asked if it was a recall they said no. it really needed to be fixed and would be around $1000.00.. i was very surprised they "everyone" knew except for me!! seems like if it is "most" or "all" then ford to tell customers. front differential fails at 55 mph that is going to be a big problem for someone!!
4wd issues. while driving -goes in and out of full time 4wd for no reason. becomes hard to steer and often pulls to one side or another. when i want to be in 4wd-a (automatic/awd) it will not allow me to shift back out or it will stay in 4wd-h full time. even when i come to stop it will not shift out of 4wd despite indicator saying that it has.
At 80mph plus the whole cab shakes violently.
While traveling in a straight line at 60 mph (posted highway peed limit) the vehicle suddenly down-shifted to a much lower gear (1st or 2nd?), causing engine rpms to dramatically increase. i responded to the unintended condition by taking sudden dramatic braking action. this resolved this incident. the vehicle is 2 years, 3 months old with slightly over 22,000 miles, and is scheduled for the dealer to conduct a "transmission code review" on 01/10/18.
My truck odometer shows i have 26582 miles on the truck. and the engine hours shows i have 867 hours. however rusty wallace service department said i have 63000 miles according to the pcm!!! i have transmission problems and they do not want to fix the truck under warranty. i content that the truck is still under warranty i have not done anything to the odometer. i have pictures that show i was doing 72 miles a hour and on the digital speedometer but the other speedometer showed i was doing 90 miles a hour. i parked the truck and it stilled showed i was doing 20 mph. i have attached the photos.
I would like to highlight safety concern on ford f-150 intake throttle failures. i believe there has been a recall on this part for a different s/n range of ford f-150. this vin was not in the list. when this fails, you lose all power and truck goes into neutral. was towing loaded trailer in 4 lanes of high speed interstate city driving. almost was in serious accident. ford customer service did nothing or indicate that they were going to look at s/n range impacted. i am a chief engineer at caterpillar. i understand the business of effective s/n and what is included in mandatory recalls. their lack of action is a concern.
During the "very random" process of shifting the automatic transmission, from any gear to any gear, the gear does not engage and appears to be in neutral then the engine revs to the highest rpm until i press the brake and put into gear a second time. this happens both while the truck is in motion and when at a stop shifting from reverse to drive. this has happened at least 20 times since i have owned the truck. when this occurs it is unpredictable. it happens both when i am hauling a trailer and when i am not. i haul a small two horse trailer weekly and this happened to me while driving down a steep hill and i downshifted. the truck did not feel like it was under my control. i panic ever time this has happened and the dealership does not seem to have a fix for the problem.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. the contact stated that while hauling a trailer at a highway rate of speed, the brake pedal had to be slowly applied due to the transmission being slow to change over; there was a loud noise and a hard downshift that continued to progress. a dealer (rapid ford, 1510 s pokegama ave, grand rapids, mn 55744, (218) 326-0551) was notified and the vehicle was to be inspected and diagnosed to determine the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that they had no recall and no recommended solution. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was not available.
This took 4 attempts and 2 dealers to resolve - ~34k miles- loud grinding/vibration from front left 4x4 hub when driving any speed. the first dealer had the truck for 6 days and claimed they didn't see or hear the problem. the second trip to the dealer they had for a few more days and said they fixed it. on the way home it was obviously not fixed and i turned around and took it back. again after two days they said it was fixed yet it was not. i then took it to a different dealer and they knew what the problem was and fixed it. they also informed me the service log didn't show any service attempts to the truck so my truck sat for almost two weeks and no work was actually done and i was lied to. second issue - not resolved. life of vehicle - wobble/vibration from 4x4 transfer case that intensifies with increased speed. driving in 4x4 low at all speeds you can feel and see the steering wheel shake, even going as slow as 10mph. the steering wheel, seats and peddles shake as if the tires aren't balanced. i have installed 3 different sets of tires and it still shakes. 2 different tire shops verified the tires are good and the alignment was good. the shaking isn't bad like the death wobble but doesn't feel safe. it shakes enough that my 3 year old gets sick to her stomach from the bouncing. third issue - resolved with my money - at about 45k miles the factory front rotors were worn to the point of replacement due to deep cuts. this occurred with the factory brake pads.
Vin: [xxx] make: ford f150 2015 on the morning of june 20th 2017, i was sitting in the passenger seat journaling and listing to music. the vehicle was parked and running because i was listening to the radio and enjoying the air conditioner. my husband had driven the vehicle and parked it. he had exited the vehicle and went up to his appointment and i was in the vehicle, in the passenger seat, journaling for at least ten minutes or more. i needed to use the restroom so i put my stuff in the bag at my feet, on the floor board on the passenger side. i reached over, gripped the key, turned it to the off position, removed the key from the ignition, the truck was fully off. i began opening the passenger door to exit the vehicle and realized the vehicle was rolling backwards. i slammed my door, tried to use the shifter but it did not move. i was steering the vehicle to the right knowing there were vehicles parked behind me. i threw the key in put it in drive and hit the brake, but it was to late and i had hit another vehicle. i was lucky nobody was in the other vehicle or behind my vehicle. somebody could have been hurt or killed. i pulled the truck forwards, i parked and handled what had just occurred. i don?t know what to do. we no longer feel our vehicle is safe when in park. i know the 2017 models are having this same problem, if ford still cant fix this problem two years later, why would i feel our vehicle is safe or trust that it does not have a defect that needs fixing?????? please help! thank you for your time. we just want to ensure our safety and the safety of others. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
When moving in reverse or drive, from a stop, the rear end makes a loud popping sound. (thought my spare tire had come loose. verified that was not the case) while driving on a roadway and turning corners, you can feel the rear end sway as if the axle shafts are too long which causes the rear end to feel loose. effects driveability.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 60 mph, the contact stated that the transmission downshifted independently. the contact also stated that the transmission disengaged and then slammed into gear. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent and had happened at various speeds. the vehicle was taken to town and country ford (101 anderson ln, madison, tn 37115 (615) 865-1280) where it was diagnosed that the lead frame connector needed to be replaced. the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred several times. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 8,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. while driving 55 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate and the engine stalled without warning. the contact stated that a downshift occurred during the failure. the failure was persistent. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v248000 (power train). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
While driving as you try to maintain speed at a lower rpm the trans feels like shaking or makes a noise of rattling, and also hard down shifts from 5th to 4th to 3rd gear, i have it looked at at 2 dealerships and one said nothing wrong and the second one said the rattling noise was the skid guard wasn't tight enough supposedly they did tight it but noise is still there
Driving the ford f150 (v6 ecoboost) on a city street (35 mph) it has failed at random times (i've now seen this issue more than 3 times) usually with 3 major failures. these 3 failures (1) engine, transmission, and emissions 2) brakes & suspension 3) restratins & driver assistance) cause the truck to transition to 'limp' mode which can actually be just as hazardous. if i'm turning onto a road with a 55+ mph speed limit i need to accelerate but if this system fails, along with the restraints & driver assistance, this could be a very dangerous and life threatening situation. the reason why is that the restraints & driver assistance goes off now disabling my airbags, etc. and if i now get hit (because now i'm in limp mode going about 7 mph) i have lost a great deal of 'built-in' protection without the airbags. translate that to driving on a highway and encountering this situation and you can see that loss of life is not out of the question. i've taken the truck back to ford for the warranty work and they say they believe it's an electronic throttle body controller that has gone bad and needs to be replaced but right now it's at least 3 weeks before they can get a replacement part. compounding this issue is that ford had issued an internal recall for v8's built at the same plant as my v6 ecoboost truck for the same type of issue.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 ford f-150. on several occasions when the vehicle was placed in reverse after the auto shift feature was used, the vehicle failed to operate as intended. the dealer diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the transmission was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was again taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or produce a fault code. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 5,000. updated 01/05/17*lj *tr
8/5/2016 the vehicle was originally taken in for a loud grinding noise coming from the drive train. the problem was intermittent and the dealer said they couldn't reproduce the problem and reflashed the computer. the vehicle was at highway speeds and it occurred when it was hunting for gears as i passed someone. 5/22/2017 the vehicle was taken back to the dealer for the same problem with a grind noise coming from the drivetrain. i told the dealer it sounded like cards in the spokes of a bicycle. they tried to reflash the computer and the truck made the same noise as soon as i drove away from their lot. i took it right back and told them that it was not fixed and i wanted them to keep it until it was fixed. the vehicle was at highway speeds and it occurred when it was hunting for gears as i passed someone. i picked the vehicle up approximately two weeks later and was told that the entire overdrive unit in the transmission had to be rebuilt. the truck only had 20,067 miles at this point. 9/23/2019 i called the dealership and told them that the noise had returned at that this would make the fourth time it needed to be addressed. they told me that the power train warranty covered any repairs for this up till 60,000 miles. i will schedule a time to drop the truck for a check as soon as i can. the truck has 52,622.3 miles as of 10/31/2019. the truck only makes the noise at odd intervals when it is between gears or passing someone.
While driving - complete shut down of vehicle - loss of steering and acceleration. system warning says advance trac warning and shows a picture of a wrench. stopped the vehicle - restarted and continued to happen. very dangerous as it happened while driving - had to coast to the side of the road.
