I have a 2013 ford escape, vin is [xxx], i have approximately 40,000 miles on my car. in early november i had an incident that said my car was overheating and to "pull over now" i thought that was strange as i had only started driving a minute before the occurrence. i pulled over and stopped my car, about 10 minutes later it started back up without a problem, i took it to a place to have it checked out but they never found a problem. however on november 20th i had the same exact issue happen after only driving for about 30 seconds. i called ford and they said there was no recalls and nothing they could do if they didn't see the issue themselves. i again took it to my car mechanic and the wiring harness was changed as per a recommendation from a friend he had that works for ford. i just got my car back a few days ago and today i had the same exact issue. i did take it to a ford dealership today however i am completely appalled that i will have to pay for this issue. my car is not even 5 years old and has had over 14 recalls.. all of which i have gotten fixed. this is a very dangerous problem and i have read several complaints from other people with 2013 ford escapes that have had the same problem. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Vehicles low coolant light came on the vehicle 12/26/17. vehicle was taken to an a non-ford mechanic and on 12/27 the water pump, coolant bypass valves, and gaskets and seals were replaced due to a leak. one month later, while driving, the vehicle had the warning come on for overheating and the vehicle began to reduce speed. we were able to get the vehicle home, checked the coolant reservoir and it was low. i filled the vehicle with coolant and returned to the mechanic. this time they found a leak in a heater core hose and that was replaced. on 2/10/18, the warning light for low coolant came on again. the coolant level was below the minimum line. vehicle was returned to the mechanic and they could find no visible leaks. they let the car run for 15 minutes and found that the freeze out plugs on the heads were damp; no repairs were made and they said to contact ford. i called ford on 2/13/18 about the issues, since numerous other 2013 escapes were involved in recalls and they said your vehicle isn't apart of that recall and it's out of warranty, to bad. the issue hasn't been resolved. in the past 2 months i've been filling the coolant every other week. the vehicle only had 61,960 miles when this started to occur.
Total engine failure at 73269 miles. vehicle has been recalled multiple times for engine coolant low/engine overheating warnings. recall work was completed on vehicle; however, still had issues with engine coolant low/engine overheating warnings where the car had to be towed in to a dealer. prior to the holidays, took car in to local shop for a new battery and air filter. this vehicle is a personal vehicle that isn't driven much. i have a company car. on december 23, 2017, leaving amarillo, texas, entered feeder road to access interstate. engine coolant low warning came on and then immediately followed by engine overheating warning. towed to firestone -- they said it was a temperature sensor and they didn't have the part. towed to gene messer ford -- they had it for two weeks, and just informed me that the entire engine will need to be replaced -- due to overheating - cylinder head warped -- $6,800 for the repair. this particular engine has been cited for safety concerns because of 29 fires. i contacted ford prior to this to ask for help and they declined. these engines have had multiple recalls for cylinder head problems and the recall didn't fix the problem, as my vehicle still had "engine coolant low and engine overheating warnings" after the recall was completed. the continuous engine coolant low warning resulted in the vehicle also receiving a new radiator in 2016.
The vehicle continuously sputters, and then dies while in driving mode - normally pulling out into traffic. we have been almost hit numerous times. in an hour time span, yesterday, it happened 10 times, today in a 15 minute timespan, 3 times. am an uber driver and cannot put their lives in jeopardy - going to get someone killed. this happens in all situations - whether idling in line to pull out into traffic at a light, or while driving. has even happened while traveling down the highway. it starts to sputter, and then just shuts off. sometimes you can place in neutral and restart, but other times, you must coast to side of street, place in park, and then try to restart. there are 100s of incidences on the internet showing the same symptoms. please help resolve this. going to the ford dealership is not the answer - they tell me they cannot "duplicate" the issue and therefor do not know how to "fix" it. in the meantime, this is extremely unsafe, and a lawsuit waiting to happen. this has been occurring the entire month of december - on the 18th - 10 times in a 3 hour timespan - today, the 19th - 3 times in a 15 minute timespan. this is an everyday issue and getting work. this is preventing using this vehicle as an uber driver, and seriously impacting our income. there needs to be a recall. there is a tech service bulletin - tsb-13-12-12; nhtsa-10054363; dtc po106, po236.
Coolant is leaking into the 3rd cylinder. the service technician at the dealership believes it to be a bad engine. they want to install a new engine. this car is only 4 years old with just over 71,000 miles on it. i've contacted ford for assistance, they will give none. this is not the first time there has been a coolant leak. about a year ago, i had my personal mechanic check the car because of a coolant leak, and found faulty heater hoses.
My 2013 ford escape sel has the 1.6l v6 engine and is saying that it is over heating and giving me a p1299 code. i have replaced the thermostat it still gives me this code. i can let the car sit for several days and turn it on and it will immediately say that it is overheating. i can clear the code out of the system and drive the car for several days to a week with no problems. this issue happen with approximately 98,000 miles on the vehicle. i have researched online and the 2013 ford escape 1.6l engine has a recall on this issue but according to my vin number my vehicle does not have this recall. engine and engine cooling recall number 12v551000. i also have an issue with my vehicle hesitating. i will be driving and the rpms will bounce up and down then it will tell me there is a "transmission failure". after it sends that warning message the vehicle will run fine. i have had this issue since i have purchased the vehicle with approximately 40,000 miles on it at that time. the dealership told me there is nothing they can do about it that ford recall it but there is no way to fix it. again i have researched and they have a recall on this with the 2013 ford escapes but according to my vin my vehicle does not have this recall. electrical system:wiring recall number 15v813000
My info light came on in car saying my engine coolant was low. i filled it 10 days later the same thing happened again. i took it to the mechanic because there were no leaks under my car so i didn't know where the coolant could be going to. the mechanic printed out a recall sheet for the exact problem and tole me i should call the dealer service center. i called and they said there was no recall on my car for that problem. the recall covers my car model, engine size, and manufactured date. i called ford customer service and they said the same thing as the service center. the first recall on this problem didn't include my cars manufactured date, but 3 months later the recall was updated to include more cars and my manufactured date was then included.
Vehicle leaking coolant on to exhaust system and turbocharger malfunction causing a over boost.
This vehicle has presented numerous issues & most recently a continuous coolant leak or loss into the engine. despite a water pump replacement (covered) and that is the supposed issue but then, engine light, sorry a coolant bypass valve (not covered but should be!) on a 2013 ford escape 1.6; how is this not part of the 2013 recall!?! i'm researching our state lemon laws so that this can be resolved since we've had more lost wages on getting this into a dealership than any valuable time driving the vehicle. i blame the manufacturer primarily but the techs aren't outstanding considering they can't put wires back into a semblance of order. also, how tough is it to change the timing belt when replacing a water pump? i would have asked them to, if offered, & it's covered'but since the response later was 'its only a little worn' (what does that mean?!) they decided a $30 part is worth risking the job they just finished'halfway of course. guess what, it still smells like coolant. ford has had a dozen or more recalls & we literally can't keep this vehicle out of our savings or on the road. i'll never own a ford as long as i can choose to have something safe for my family. ford named it 'escape' for a reason. take my advice & get out of these piles of garbage asap.
Coolant loss, engine overheating, check engine lights illuminate, vehicle shuts down-constantly replacing engine coolant-a few ounces- depending on miles driven, temp. ford refuses to acknowledge any responsibility, but my vehicle, is only 1 month off recalls covered for exact same issues? coolant loss is never found? ford forced customer to endure diagnostic fees on all 1.6l engines, when upon review & just a simple google search, there are oodles of customers that suffer, some who have even started fire & ford refuses to take responsibility. upon taking my vehicle, of course all the remedies to fix are the exact same as the ones for the 2013 ford escape 1.6l on the nhtsa recall info page i reviewed for the4x4 manufactured before 9/2012, i'm manufactured 10/2012? coincidence? why must consumers bare the brunt of these costly repairs & ford ignore these issues? this happens driving all the time, street or highway, variable speeds & mostly under colder weather conditions. ford charged me $112 pressure tested & diagnosed new degas bottle, stand pipe & fuel regulator, same as existing recall for same year, just not my month of manufacture? dealer to charge my +$1100 called ford customer service, no help, they reference an old overheat recall not even related to coolant that should have remedied my problem from 2015? none of the coolant issues have ever been addressed on my vehicle, pls. advise. thank you!
A couple days ago my check engine light came on when i started my car and i found out my pcv valve needed replaced. i was reading online and i saw that there was a recall on the 2013 ford escapes because of coolant problems.
Engine failure light comes on and says to pull over immediately, then car shuts down. this has occured 2x randomly over the past month. the car will not start for 10 minutes after the incident. have taken to auto shop twice with no apparent issue that can be resolved.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving various speeds, the engine stalled while driving various speeds. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 90,000.
My check engine light would come on and off intermittently for a couple of weeks then came on and stayed on. i took it to a ford dealership and they said it was my coolant bypass valve. the check engine light would come on if i accelerated at a normal speed, i didn't floor it but my car would shift hard. i had to accelerate extremely slowly and it would shift ok. but after that happened off and on for a couple weeks, now it sporadically shifts hard. i haven't noticed a pattern to it. i am waiting on he ford dealership to get the parts in.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 70 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was pulled over to a shoulder lane and the contact noticed that the coolant in the vehicle was gone. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact also observed the leak. the local dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 12v431000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Driving down road, car was running fine, no engine light, or any other kind of warning light came on, all of a sudden it stalled, had vehicle towed to dealership, after diagnosis ford dealership stated the code, the turbo waste gait celluloid needed to be replace. after replacement dealer called and stated the engine was blown! stated because of the failure of the waste gait celluloid without any kind of warning, too much air pressure went into motor causing gasket/motor failure. they quoted me $7200 for a new factory motor
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced excessive coolant consumption. the contact had to refill the coolant every three days and the low coolant warning indicator illuminated. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle and advised the contact to call nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to move. the contact had to turn off and restart the vehicle in order for it to operate normally. also, the check engine indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to frio chevrolet (6919 i-35, dilley, tx 78017, (830) 469-1209) where it was diagnosed that coolant was needed. the dealer printed failure code number: p26b700 regarding the coolant. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the same thing as the dealer. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 90,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the heating system failed to turn on. the contact stated that coolant was applied to the vehicle, however was empty weeks later. the vehicle was taken to a local dealer, jordan ford, ltd 13010 i-35, san antonio tx 78233 where the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 42,000. the vin was not available.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving, the vehicle overheated and stalled without warning. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the thermostat and gasket were leaking coolant. the local dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa. the contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 12v551000 (engine and engine cooling). the failure mileage was 35,000. the vin was invalid.
Just because the vin on this specific 2013 escape doesn't match all the recalls doesn't mean it doesn't have the same issues. i've already had to have the water pump replaced and the transmission rebuilt. there's electrical issues, hvac issues, door issues, delayed acceleration issues, the list goes on and on and on with this vehicle. i reached out to ford and they offered no help. your system only allows me to check three problems.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. when the vehicle was started, the engine coolant low warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to apple ford lincoln of york (1801 whiteford rd, york, pa 17402, (717) 755-2911) where the contact was informed that coolant was leaking from behind the engine and that a hose needed to be replaced. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred three times. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 40,000.
The vehicle will shutdown during operation and lose electrical power. this has occurred 3 times over the last year. the vehicle's ecu will show overheating and engine overheating during operation and shutdown. the dtc have been checked and cleared several times with no answers for the issues.
Car continued to shut off while driving locking up steering, brakes, etc. car was brought to tunkhannock ford on 10/24 and remained there until 5 p.m. on 10/27. told was doing it for them. i'm informed by a tunkhannock ford employee, the car was only taken out off lot & test 1 time. on 10/28, my wife, 4 & 8 yr. old are driving & the car stopped 7 times total on route 6 in tunkhannock where a truck driver got out and assisted my wife as she was stuck in the middle of the highway with flashers on. after arguing with the service writer, sales manager for compromising the safety of my wife and daughters - i was still denied a loaner vehicle where we paid enterprise for a rental in order to get to work. i requested a loaner from their other tunkhannock dealership and was still denied and all i was told by matt kerr, sales manager is "i understand your concern, i have young children also but it's out of my hands." effective today 11/3/17, they still have our spare key & have yet to call to check on the status of the appointment that i did not go to scheduled for 10/30/17. i called montrose motors owned by the same previous owner of gateway ford where this car was purchased and they got it in immediately - provided a loaner vehicle hassle free and said many loyal customers have left tunkhannock ford for their crudeness with service by writing up work orders for loyal customers bringing their vehicles in for air - we don't care how long they needed to assess the car - our formal complaint which we are pursuing is tunhannock ford has jeporadized the safety and well-being of my family - especially my 2 daughters by denying me a loaner vehicle
While driving down the highway at 65 mph, an alert appeared stating "low coolant". in the past the car had stated the same alert before alarming that the car was overheating and needed to be pulled over. at that point the car would then going into limp mode. due to this history, we knew we had to attempt to get to the side of the highway as soon as possible. within one minute, the car did alarm "overheating" and went into limp mode. we were only able to get to the left hand shoulder of an on-ramp (middle of the highway). at this point we got out of the car and found that the coolant level was normal. after waiting 20 minutes we drove in reverse up the on-ramp to get off the highway, because we were confident we could not safely get to the next exit (several miles away). we then had the car towed to a local ford dealer (phil long ford of denver). this is the dealership where we had previously brought our vehicle to repair this same issue. at that time, the dealership replaced a broken temperature sensor, stating that this was what was causing the overheating issues. our vehicle also had maintenance completed on it as part of the 13s12 recall (risk of overheating) in 2015. the issue clearly has not been resolved after multiple "fixes" have been performed.
Initially i had been having issues with the engine light coming on and off. initially when i took the vehicle to be looked at, by the hunt ford in la plata, md. they changed the oxygen sensor. so the light went off. then a few months later in 2016 the light came back on. eventually i started driving on route 5 north and heard a 'pop' noise in the engine area. the vehicle started to lose acceleration and would hesitate. then eventually my check engine light came on and started blinking. prior to the engine light blinking the car begin to misfire, hesitate when trying to accelerate, and the engine would overheat from time to time prematurely. the car would sometimes stall and misfire when trying to accelerate or when sitting idle. when i looked online it shows a recall for these specific issues for the same make, model & year, but not for my specific engine liter. for example, it shows the engine overheating, misfires and engine wiring splices may cause stall for 2013 ford escapes but only for 1.6l. my car is experiencing very similar issues as those listed under the recall, but my engine is a 2.0l. so while on my way home friday, 10/27/2017, i started to have issues with my vehicle. i was traveling on pennsylvania ave towards dc, when i reached an intersection (southern ave), and the car started to jerk and then the engine light started blinking. at one point i began to see white smoke once the engine light started to blink, and smelled fumes. not too long after that began to occur, i make a u-turn at the light and pulled over in front of the funeral home. before i was pulled over on the side of the road (while making the u-turn) the car started to misfire and stall. so i turned the engine off, and called aaa to have it towed. a few days later i had a mechanic come and run a diagnostic on the vehicle at the home. i have attached a copy of their report.

While driving low coolant and engine over-heated warning lights came on and car quit.under some traffic conditions serious injury or even death could result.
The engine light is on. and i got it check and it says the coolant sensor was not working but the light came on saying low coolant and it was not. somthing is wrong with it.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that engine coolant constantly had to be added to the coolant reservoir every ten days. the contact stated that there was no visible evidence of a coolant leak on the ground under the vehicle or any odor of burning coolant. the "engine coolant low service required" warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (atchinson ford, 9800 belleville rd, belleville, mi 48111). the dealer replaced the coolant, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed. the manufacturer was contacted at 800-392-3673 and stated that nothing could be done since the vin was not included in a recall. the manufacturer asked the contact to call nhtsa. a case number was not provided. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000. *tr
Greetings, i have a ford escape 2013, 2.5 liters, and i almost crashed because the vehicle suffered an electrical malfunction. in the screen of the car it said: "motor damage, turn off". this almost caused me to loose my life, because the car lost all the energy, stopped in the middle of the highway, and the motor was hesitating. i looked for a recall and i found a ford number 14s17-s1 but that recall is for 2.0 liter and my ford escape 2013 is 2.5 which means that it doesn't have the same electrical wire that is recalled from the 2.0. i went to the dealer to find an answer, but the car does this malfunction intermittently and once you turn it back on the code disappears like if nothing would have happened. i took the paper of the recall to the dealer and they said that they cant do anything because the code disappeared and my car doesn't have the same system of the 2.0 liter.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 20 mph, an abnormal burning odor entered through the engine compartment and the oil warning indicator illuminated. the contact managed to pull the vehicle over into a parking lot. the contact and passenger exited the vehicle and observed smoke under the vehicle and oil leaking profusely from under the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to the local dealer. the local dealer (crown ford, 420 merrick rd, lynbrook, ny, 11563, 516-599-0600) did not diagnose the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. in addition, the contact mentioned that the oil had just been changed two weeks prior at chatham ford (781 main st, chatham, ma, 02633, 508-945-0500). the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
Tsb 16-0052 indicates a defective part that can cause engine shutdown from loss of coolant. this can be sudden and is, therefore, a safety issue. loss of engine on a freeway at speed in traffic can cause a fatal accident. this should be a safety recall, not a tsb. the first indication is a check engine light.
I was driving on a freeway at 65mph and the engine cuts out to an idle. the check engine light came on. i almost got rear ended getting the car over to the side of the road since it lost all power. after pulling over i was able to start the car as the light went out. this happened 3 more times where the car would cut out to a rough idle, these occurred while i was on city streets but almost caused 1 accident as it cut out. after shutting the car off it would restart with no issue. this last time the car had to be towed to planet ford to be repaired. they said it was a throttle body issue and it cost me over 700 for the repair even though it is still under the powertrain warranty. i do not see why this has not been recalled due to the car being unsafe to drive and i do not know why the replacement of the part alone will not cause further stalls of this vehicle. i have found other people with the same issue where the car goes into "limp home" mode. i am currently having the car repaired or i would be able to attach the invoice for the throttle body repair.
I was going down the road, my battery light came on then my engine light came on then it started beeping and said my engine was over heating. got pulled over and had to get it towed. car would start but would not move. mechanic told me the water pump locked up and broke a belt. i have read numerous comments of people that this has happened to. there should be a recall on this
Car continuously overheats. have had it to 2 different mechanics they cannot find anything wrong. no leaks, no bad hoses. had paid about 500.00 to citrus ford of ontario for a crossover valve to stop the over heating. not yet corrected. over heated today 10/4/17 while moving about a half mile from where i left in a matter of 5 minutes. i read of a recall on the same model of having cooling issues but my vin evidently doesn't fall within the parameters. otherwise unknown reason why it is over heating
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that there was an internal leak within the coolant system which was going into the area of the engine assembly. the vehicle had been taken to several dealers who had been unable to provide a permanent remedy and more recently crossroads ford lincoln of southern pines (1590 us-1, southern pines, nc 28387, 1-(910) 692-8765) was notified to determine if they may be able to check with the manufacturer to determine a solution to prevent the failure. the vehicle was not repaired yet. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was not available. *tt*jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact took the vehicle to autonation ford north canton (5900 whipple ave nw, north canton, oh 44720, 330-238-3206) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000. the vin was not available.
2013 escape developed coolant leak. i saw online where this problem was a recall. when i took it in to the dealership they informed me that even though mine has the same problem my vin# is not included in this recall! if ford motor company knows they have this problem with this vehicle why are they not all covered? how many have to catch fire? also, they also tell me i have an oil leak in the turbo. i have never seen any evidence of an oil leak in this vehicle.
Coolant loss, with no trace of where the coolant is going. the coolant loss will cause the low coolant alarm to appear. the low coolant alarm will then cause false overheating alarm, which by ford design causes the engine to loose power, which causes a serious safety issue.
took the car in for a routine oil change and was told i had a major oil leak
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. while driving 35 mph, the coolant warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (fox toyota of cadillac, 1490 n mitchell st, cadillac, mi 49601, (231)-779-1784) where several diagnostic tests were completed, but no failure was found. the contact stated that unknown repairs were completed, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 66,825.
Engine coolant leak and on ford website there is a call back on my vehicle but does not show on my vin
While operating on interstate 90 ewd engine rpms went from abt 3000 rpm's to 5000 rpm, while attempting to accerlate from abt 65 mph to 70 mph.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. no warning indicators illuminated. the contact coasted to the side of the road. the contact called the dealer where the vehicle was purchased from albion motors ford located in albion michigan and was advised to bring the vehicle in to the nearest ford dealer. the vehicle was towed to the dealer la fontaine ford in gladwin michigan that determined that the vehicle had experienced an engine failure and needed a new engine. the manufacturer sent an investigator from headquarters, who evaluated the vehicle and diagnosed the cause of the failure as a fractured serpentine valve and got cut between crank case and motor causing for the engine to seized. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and case was filed number: cas13226467. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 83,000.
Car will stall at random times with no warning. this can happen while driving or , or just after starting, it is random. it will give a system malfunction/engine failure message but it goes away when the car restarts, which is usually does with no problem. no diagnostic code is logged and the dealer cannot recreate the problem. this happens several times a month now. symptoms, model, manufacture date & location all match with recall #15v813, but our vin # does not pull for this recall so dealer will not fix. dealer will not do anything until they recreate the problem, which they were unable to do. this has been going on for months, but becoming more frequent now. have called the ford customer service number and they logged our information, but not sure what that is supposed to do. the questions on this form are for an isolated event, so i am answering them with most recent info, but this has happened many times. help!
On 9/7/17 my car overheated due to no coolant in tank, the dealership where i purchased the car filled the coolant tank and gave me an oil change. on 12/29/17 car overheated again due to no coolant in tank and the check engine light came on. i went to winner ford in cherry hill and was informed that the check engine light was on due to car needed a new coolant bypass solenoid valve, which i paid to have fix. the service department stated they did a pressure check and concluded that the car was leaking antifreeze due to a crack in the degas bottle. i paid for a new degas bottle and the paperwork states the system was refilled and car is no longer leaking coolant. two weeks later (jan 18th, 2018), i start my car and the overheat message is displaying, i check under the hood and the coolant tank is empty! now the dealership service department is stating the hvac heater hose (cv6z18472s) is leaking and the part is on back order with ford until the end of february. this is unacceptable, i can not be without a car for an entire month. my car is only five years old, why are the parts on back order for such a lengthy time. is there an issue with these cars? i have a renter car from the dealership, that financially i can't afford to have for a month on top of paying $285 for this issue. i need this part to ship asap and i need to speak to someone regarding having the loaner car as a courtesy until the part is delivered to the dealership. the dealership stated that your company would have to give the ok for the rental courtesy. i spoke to someone at ford (reference #cas-13964173) and was informed that i couldn't speak to a manager and because i didn't have a warranty i would have to pay for my own renter car even though the only reason i need the rental is due to ford not having the part.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford escape. the contact stated that the service engine warning indicator flashed. in addition, there was a coolant and an oil leak. an independent mechanic diagnosed that there was an overboost malfunction, which needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that there was no warranty or recall; therefore, they provided no remedy. the approximate failure mileage was 92,000.
When at a stop light and accelerate to go , the car lost power completely and was in the lane of traffic and couldnt go . stop and restart and car was able to go. took to dealer and 1200$ later they said a fuel relay switch was bad and they fixed it , month later starts happening again . now even more often than before . now they tell me at ford that a relay is stopping the computer and they are going to run a wire seperate to bypass the relay to fix the problem.. ive read about the recall of this model in the 2.0 l 2013 escape of the relay harness no wired corectly and can cause the computer module to reset causing a pause in power from overheating the modem. its the same symptoms exactly though it may not be the same reason. we cant drive the car this is unsafe it is siting at dealers waiting for repair decision.
