We have classified the 552 complaints from 2010 Ford Escape about VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the engine rpms increased excessively as the vehicle suddenly accelerated. also, the contact stated that the wrench warning icon illuminated. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic throttle body needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the part was on back order. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 55,000. *tr
On five separate occasions within the span of a day, the car, while moving, stuttered and stalled. i was able to start the car again, but it would stall soon thereafter. it almost felt like the car was "choking" and the engine would not fully turn off. i took the car into the dealer and was informed it was a defective "throttle body" and that ford had been having issues with this part. it was not in recall yet. i called ford customer service to file a formal complaint. they paid for the throttle body part, however, i was charged over $300.00 to replace the part. i am only 5,000- 6,000 miles out of warranty on the car. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle became resistant to acceleration attempts over 10 mph. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for repairs. the manufacturer was notified about the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000. updated 08/27/13*lj the dealer replaced the throttle body. updated 08/29/13
The problem started on july 09, 2013. my wife was dropping our kids off at daycare and a summer program when the car just lost all power couldn't accelerate or anything. the vehicle could just coast. we have never had any problems with the vehicle before, so i told her to try and shut down the vehicle to restart it. there were no warning lights and it worked fine. then after dropping the kids off it happened to more times to her on her way to work. after i got off of work, i picked up the vehicle and drove it around non-busy roadways to see if it could happen to me, and it did. i immediately dropped it off at a service center close by. i am extremely concerned about these incidents after looking online and finding out that this is not a random incident. it is happening to many people. something in the throttle body goes bad causing the vehicle to go into something that people are calling "limp mode". my wife was driving at highway speeds with vehicles behind her and my children in the car. this situation could have been devastating and i am glad that it wasn't. i do not want it to be devastating for anyone else either though. i believe it should be looked at closely. after talking to the parts department of a ford dealer, it seems that ford has recognized the problem by changing the part. the problem is that it only helps if you change the part. i believe that ford should be doing something about this to ensure nobody is injured badly or worse. *tr
Pulled into traffic on a busy 4 lane freeway and as i reached 50 mph and all throttle control disappeared and car was only steerable but no acceleration as i tried to work the car off to the side creating a hazardous situation. the engine was still running roughly but with no gas petal response. i turned off the car, re-tried starting and then no signs of problems, took to dealer and found faulty throttle body, a national back order from ford indicating that this is happening all over the country, and will not be covered by warranty, far short of what would be expected of a throttle body, and creating a dangerous safety issue. *tr
Driving down the road and everything seemed fine. suddenly, the engine shuddered, hesitated, and lost power. luckily, traffic was light and i was able to get off the road. all fluids ok, battery ok, fuel ok, etc. after checking options, i tried restarting the car. it started fine -like there was no problem. since then it has been happening more often, but not on at any predictable time or event. engine cool or hot, slow or high speed, smooth or bumpy road -just whenever it seems to feel like it. i've been reading online that this seems to be a common problem with the throttle body on these vehicles. i'm now looking for a replacement and am wondering how much this is going to cost. since it is a widespread issue, will ford reimburse for the expense? *tr
On july 9, 2013 i was driving on the freeway in moderate traffic at mid-day and had been on the road approximately 15 minutes. the vehicle suddenly, and without warning, would no longer accelerate but was still moving at a reduced speed and i was able to control steering. i worked my way over to the shoulder of the freeway and stopped the vehicle and turned the key to the off position. i sat for approximately one minute and re-started the vehicle without any problem. on july 18, 2013 at about 8:30 am i had been driving the vehicle for approximately 20 minutes had just exited the freeway approximately a quarter mile back and was waiting at a red light. when the light turned green i was unable to accelerate. there was no revving of the engine it was silent. i turned the key to the off position, waited a moment, turned it back on without a problem. *tr
While driving the wrench light came on and the car slowed and became sluggish. took the car right to the ford dealer. i was told it was the throttle body. i had just had a 30,000 mile checkup 2 months before and the throttle body was serviced and now 3,000 miles later i need to have it replaced... if i had been on the thruway when this happened. it could have caused an accident being at high speed then losing power. i was lucky. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle seized. the contact had to pull over and restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and diagnosed as a throttle failure. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 42,000. updated 9/25/13*cn
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the failure recurred several weeks later with the illumination of t he check engine warning light. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the dealer stated that the throttle body was defective. the dealer replaced the throttle body. the failure mileage was 36,783.
Driving on highway at 50mph and car stopped accelerating. was able to get to repair shop and told it was throttle body. was not able to drive it home, d/t unexpected accelerations and slow downs. *tr
I was driving my 2010 ford escape at about 65 miles per hour on the new jersey turnpike when all of a sudden the wrench light came on and i lost power in the engine. i was in the middle lane of a 4 lane highway and had to get over to the shoulder. the engine never shut off but would not go over 5 mph. i shut the engine down and restarted the car and everything was fine. i had 70 miles to go so i decided to try to drive on and everything was fine for 40 miles when it did it again. i got over to the shoulder, shut the engine off and restarted and was able to make it to my destination. i have an appointment to take the car to a ford dealership to get it fixed on thursday. the dealership told me that they were familiar with this issue and that the throttle control need to be replaced. i have looked online and have seen hundreds and hundreds of posts from owners that are having the same issue. what gives. if ford know about this, shouldn't they take care of it! *tr
Driving on 2 lane hwy in 55mph zone in passing lane and came up to red light. when light changed, stepped on gas pedal and had no acceleration. vehicle had only an idling, surging rough motion that allowed it to slowly move onto the grass median. caused several cars to back up before vehicle was out of traffic. restarted vehicle and engine ran a rough idle w/ the wrench and engine lights on. ironic, that another ford escape owner stopped to help and told me his 2009 had just had same symptoms the week before and he told me his was throttle body and it was over $500 to repair. diagnosis at ford was code p2112 (throttle stuck closed). solution was to replace electronic throttle body. seems to be a familiar issue w/ ford dealer as they had just gotten parts this week after being back ordered last week. questioned customer service rep to see if new part was same manufacturer as old part. he informed me that new part was from a new manufacturer. seems like another situation of lowest cost vendor syndrome and ford should have to stand behind their procurement/engineering decisions. just thankful that i did not get rear-ended while stuck in the passing lane in a 55mph zone. *tr
Defective electronic throttle body caused car to stop on a state highway. conversation with ford dealer and research on internet revealed that ford and nhtsa know about this defect. there should be a recall on this item. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact stated the vehicle did not lose electrical power just power to the engine. the contact had to pull over and restart the vehicle however, the failure recurred. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. the dealer stated that the throttle body assembly malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. the dealer did not replace the throttle body assembly. the failure mileage was 44,600.
While entering the highway from an inclined on-ramp, acceleration began to decrease even as the gas pedal was being pressed. i was able to coast to the shoulder, stop the engine and restart. the vehicle appeared to have returned to normal function. after traveling about 25 miles on the highway, the vehicle began to lose acceleration as i tried to increase speed to change lanes. the gas pedal was pressed to the floor of the car with no results. as i pressed the pedal the maintenance light and engine light lit up on the dashboard. i was able to get to an exit ramp and coasted to a safe stop. there was no previous warning from the dashboard indicators that there was trouble. i was notified by the dealership, that the throttle body assembly had failed. *tr
I was driving 55mph and the escape suddenly lost power, decelerating and coming to a stop. the powertrain light came on and the vehicle had a difficult time turning over. the vehicle was taken to a dealership where nothing was found. the incident then occurred again a week later at the same speed. this time the check engine light and oil pressure light came on as well. the vehicle would only start in neutral and then it was taken to the stop. this time it was determined that the throttle body sensor needed to be replaced. *tr
July 5, 2013 i was driving hfrom st simons island, ga to florence, sc. i was on a connector bridge when the vehicle lost power but the engine kept running. i steered the vehicle to the side of the road, parked it, and turned off the engine since i could not get the vehicle to move. when i started the engine again, it started up, and i had power so i drove for about a mile, and a repeat occurrence happened. again, i turned off the engine, and on restart was able to get the vehicle moving. i found a meineke repair shop in brunswick, ga and pulled in there. they checked the vehicle out but could find nothing wrong (no dash lights appeared). so i drove the vehicle to florence without further incident. a short time later, on july 27, 2013, i was once again in st simons island and the vehicle lost power with the engine running. i had to steer the car to the side of the road, turned off the engine, then started it up again. i was able to get the vehicle to the island auto repair shop (this time the "check engine" light was on. they cleaned the part, said it should work fine, use fuel injector cleaner, and sent me on my way. on august 19, in florence, sc, the same thing occurred again, only this time the vehicle was unable to move at all, even though the engine kept running. i had to call aaa, who had it towed to millers foreign auto repair shop, where it still sits waiting on a new part. they have told me it's the electronic throttle body assembly w/ wiring harness and sensor that failed, and i am waiting on the part for so long because so many of these have failed. i am one of thousands whose vehicle is affected by this flawed technology. this is a dangerous condition for consumers to have to put up with, as ford is not going to voluntarily correct this issue. please issue a recall before this flawed technology kills someone. thank you. *tr
While driving on a two lane road doing approximately 40 mph my vehicle lost power. the car was still running but lost acceleration power. we had to coast until we found a place on the side of the road to move to. *tr
Vehicle stalls while driving , stalls while idle , rpm's spike while driving !!! scary !! codes read p2112 . (throttle stuck open ) thinking bad throttle body ? *tr
On july 4, 2013 i was driving my 2010 ford escape on i-235 south in oklahoma city at approximately 70 mph when the forward momentum of the vehicle dropped out and it began to decelerate. i attempted to continue forward momentum by applying pressure to the accelerator but with no response from the vehicle. i coasted the vehicle across lanes of traffic to the shoulder of the highway. once stopped i placed the vehicle in park and the engine was sputtering and losing rpms. i identified the power train (wrench light) on control console was lite at which i observed the vehicle. i applied pressure to the accelerator to increase rpms at which no success was noted at that point i cut the power to the vehicle. i allowed the vehicle to sit for 5 minutes and then restarted the engine with some sputtering. at that point i applied pressure to the accelerator and immediately the rpms increased and the vehicle returned to operating normally. similar action repeated on aug. 13, 2013 x 4 times on the same highway: once during morning traffic traveling at approximately 60 mph and then three times during evening rush hour traffic traveling 20-40 mph. problem was identified as malfunctioning throttle body by ford dealership mechanic. failure acted during high traffic situations which could lead to a potential accident or injury to operator and surrounding motorists. upon further research it has come to my attention that there are multiple failures of throttle bodies in 2010 ford escapes which had to be replaced at the owner's cost and ford has not issued a recall for this defective component. *tr
i currently have a 2010 ford escape with 47,000 miles on it . on wednesday july 3 2013 i was returning home from doing errands, and my ford escape came to a complete stop. the vehicle would not move. there were no warning lights on the dash informing me that there was a problem. fortunately, i had just turned into the lane to my house and was not on a major highway. we had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who informed us that it is the electronic throttle body. we contacted ford corporation and reported the issue, they said that this is not under warranty and there has been no issues with this part in the past. ford gave us a case number and said that it would take up to four days to determine if they will cover the repair. i had my seven year old grandson with me that day, and all i keep thinking about is what if that would have happen on a busy highway with cars going the speed of 55mph and higher. *tr
Driving south on highway at 60 miles per hour i heard engine noise and car slowed down to a stop i started it again about 50 feet it did same again i took it to where i bought it and they said throttle body and it was on backorder and would be 10 days to get part never said a word to me about this being a problem with these cars this is a very serious safety issue i was driving in heavy traffic and my car just slows to a stop. *tr
Traveling approx 25mph vehicle became unresponsive to gas pedal. car coasted to side of road (no shoulder on blind curve). car began to buck and jerk. wrench light came on.turned off ignition, waited approx 30 seconds and restarted car. no further issue. extremely dangerous situation. scared to drive. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated while driving 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 51,000. the current mileage was 52,000.
While driving at a constant speed of approximately 35 mph, vehicle suddenly stalled without warning or hesitation. i coasted to a stop in a nearby parking lot (luckily!), turned ignition off and vehicle restarted and ran with no problems for almost two weeks. on saturday, july 13th while driving in a similar situation, the vehicle again stalled and would not restart until i coasted to a stop on the side of the road and turned the ignition off. since then the vehicle has done this about a half dozen times but not always by just stalling. the vehicle has also went into 'limp home' mode on at least one occasion when my son was driving and he was lucky enough to be close to a friend's house where it sat overnight. when we started it the next time it ran like it was misfiring very badly, so we turned the ignition off and tapped on the throttle body with the handle of a screwdriver. it then started and idled normally and we were able to drive it about three miles home. it also has sputtered erratically similar to a very bad repeated misfiring until stopping and turning the ignition off. it did this twice within a quarter mile and then ran fine for over 15 miles that i drove it to the ford dealership who wanted $107 dollars to diagnose a problem that i am fairly certain i already had figured out. the dealership said their 'specially trained' technicians may find a different cause than the p2111 code i had read with a scanner from a local auto parts store suggested. i have found out that this problem was supposed addressed by ford thinking that there was a printed circuit board problem in the electronic throttle body. however, this vehicle was manufactured in march of 2010, after the october 15th, 2009 date they had started using the new part. *tr
On 7/1/2013, i was driving my ford escape 2010 on the highway 50-55 mph and felt the car shift and then the accelerator failed. the car limped onto the shoulder and the wrench light was illuminated. it was towed to the dealer for repair. technician was not available to diagnose until day 2 then told it was full body throttle electrical component and part is on back order. still waiting for the part a week later with no end to the wait in sight. 36 month warranty ended may 21, 2013. dealer did not offer a loaner car and after repeatedly requesting one they say they have none available. service manager said five other cars are waiting for the part at their dealership. i mentioned that i read about the investigation on the internet and they said they will file a report with ford corporate. as of today, 7/9 the report had not been filed. i am very frustrated with the dealership service personnel. they are not forthcoming with information. i have had to call them numerous times because they are not returning calls. *tr
I made a left turn from a stop light and the car seemed to be accelerating and shifting but suddenly just started "chugging" and become very difficult to steer, almost as if the brake were on. i got as close to the edge of the road as i could and turned the car off. i looked up the symbol (wrench) in the manual and it said "powertrain fault" call your authorized dealer. it was terrifying being stuck in the middle of the street in the dark! i had my hazard flashers on and when i called my son he asked if i could start the car and get off the street. it did start up and i was able to move it about a 100 feet before it started "choking up" again. i waited a few minutes and did that again and was able to get it into a parking lot and off the street. my car was towed to the ford dealership and when i called them the next day they informed me that it was the throttle body and that part is on back order and it may be a couple of weeks. my warranty expired in may at the three year point. ford said it is not under warranty and will be about $400 to repair; they will not provide transportation and my insurance won't cover a rental unless i am in a collision. ironically, had i turned left when i left the drugstore i would have been on the main street in town and between a strip shopping center and the mall and probably would have been in a wreck! from what the service man told me this is a problem they are aware of, but through no fault of my own, i have to fix the problem and cover the cost of a rental for possibly several weeks because they cannot keep the part in stock. insult and injury! i am single and do not have anyone to chauffeur me. my son picks me up at work, i drop him off and keep his truck so i can shop or go to eat and i pick him up in the morning. please investigate this before someone is seriously injured, as i could have been!! *tr
I was driving on the highway going in a steady 55 miles per hour. i wanted to increase the speed but no gain in speed. pressing the acceleration paddle speed is still dropping fast. i turned the car off and than restarted the car. after about 10 miles same thing happened again, but this time the check engine light went on. i never received any warning before that , that there was something so wrong with my car. i wish it would have given me some warning ahead of time. the ford service department had to replace the throttle body. lucky us, we did not get hurt. very dangerous and very scary for passengers and cars passing. *tr
At 45mph the vehicle lost complete throttle and went into low idle. (no gas pedal) luckily the first time i was able to put it into neutral and turn it off and start it back up and it reset itself. on 7/2/13 it happen two more times but at a speed of about 20-25mph. had a harder time starting back up. it turned over but would not crank. this is not good for any driver to loose your gas pedal!!!! *tr
While pressing the accelerator the car shuts off and comes to a slow stop. your are not able to accelerate. the wrench light comes on first. i stop the car, turn it off, wait about 10sec and turn the car back on. it starts fine. i travel about 6 miles and the car stops again, this time jerking back and forth a little and then the check engine light comes on. i stop the car and follow the same steps on turning it back on. i am still able to break and steer off of roads. however, not with much time before it completely stops. i took it to advanced auto parts and got the vehicle diagnosed. the code was p2112/throttle actuator per the representative. this is highly dangerous when traveling on the highway or any busy roadway during rush hour traffic everyday to and from work. *tr
While driving the vehicle began sputtering and then would not accelerate and would barely move when pushing the gas pedal. it was diagnosed initially as the throttle actuator stuck open. it was cleaned. i drove it and less than 24 hours later it lost acceleration on a major highway at a traveling speed of 65 mph. i had to pull over 3 times and restart it to get it to a car repair place. i ended up having to have it towed to a ford dealership where they replaced the throttle actuator motor. the diagnostic code was p2111. i asked for the old part and it did not look worn or damaged. the repeated loss of acceleration on a major highway during morning rush hour created a great risk to my safety and those of the other motorists around me. the service man at the ford dealership advised me they were seeing a number of similar situations involving this part with ford escapes. the total cost for both service visit was $465.00. *tr
Traveling at 65 mph engine suddenly drops in rpm to about 600 - 900 rpm and check engine light comes on. pulled car to side of road, shut it off and restarted. engine ran fine and was later inspected. obd indicates throttle body malfunction and requires replacement. *tr
While driving on interstate 95 in lumberton, n.c all of a sudden my 2010 ford escape lost power slowing down drastically almost causing a crash. cars behind me had to slam on their brakes and going off the side of the road. i took my car to lumberton ford were i bought it. after checking it out, i was told it was the throttle body. i was also told that their was a recall on them but not for my model year. i was told that a recall on 2009 ford escapes but not 2010. this i can not understand. so ford motor co split the cost with me. but if its a faulty part, and they have a recall on the same part, why do i have to pay anything ? *tr
Vehicle stalls during normal driving for no apparent reason. wait a minute and it will restart. took vehicle to dealer and they said that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. though mileage warranty has not expired, 3 yr warranty is out by 1 month so they will not repair under warranty. want $700 to fix. *tr
Car stalled and quickly slowed down in heavy traffic and had to pull onto a narrow shoulder with lots of debris. car would then allow me to speed up again and repeat the rapid stall until ultimately going into limp mode. was later found to be the throttle body that was said to be on back-order for three weeks since so many others were having the same issue with their escapes and that ford had a redesign in work. had to pay my extended warranty co-pay since ford has no recall for this issue. *tr
While traveling at approximately 45mph, without any warning the vehicle lost complete power and stalled in the middle of the road. i was able to restart, drive approximately 50 feet with the same results. a wrench symbol appeared. called a wrecker and had the vehicle towed to my dealership service department. was informed by the service rep that they needed to replace the throttle body but did not have the part available. nine days later today i have no answers, explanations, or transportation, *tr
Vehicle lost power while driving. the wrench light came on and the the car died. the check engine light came on and it was showing code p2111 for the throttle body. *tr
While driving in the middle lane of heavy traffic, my vehicle suddenly became unresponsive. even though i had my foot on the accelerator, the vehicle would not accelerate and the engine started sputtering. the wrench light came on. i had to coast to the right lane in front of on-coming traffic to get off the road and to safety.the approaching vehicle had to slam on his breaks and narrowly missed colliding with me. if the vehicle had been any closer or if i would have been on the interstate, i would have had a serious crash with someone being badly injured or killed. this is a very serious problem. i just read about another 2010 ford escape owner that the same thing happened to them four times and they could not fix the problem. i am afraid of driving this vehicle again and i believe ford is aware of this happening should be held responsible to investigate and correct this problem before people are killed. *tr
While driving about 25 mph about 0.25 miles from my garage the car would not accelerate when i stepped on the accelerator pedal. there was no throttle response. i was unable to re-start the engine after turning the car off, and had to be towed to a service center. the diagnostic code was p111 -- throttle body stuck open. upon removal of the throttle body, the service mechanic said the throttle body appeared normal. i retained the original throttle body as evidence after it was replaced. *tt
The first incident happened as i was leaving work. i'd just pulled out of our parking lot onto the highway when my car failed to accelerate. a wrench symbol light came on and i coasted to the side of the highway, turned it off, let it sit for a moment and then restarted my car. i made it about 7 miles when the same thing happened. i pulled into a parking lot and used my phone to google the symptoms on a ford forum. it stated that there were in fact several incidents stating the exact same problems. and that after restarting their vehicles, it resets itself. so i continued home. it happened 2 more times before i made it home only now the check engine light was on as well. i called ford and they stated there was in fact an issue with the throttle body affecting several ford vehicles. i had my car towed to ford where they diagnosed that it was in fact the throttle body. however, this part is now on a national backorder. i am the 13th person at my local dealership needing this part in order to drive my vehicle. i have children and i refuse to put their lives at risk in this vehicle. they cleaned the throttle body and said this was a band aid fix until the part came in which by the way has no eta.this band aid repair lasted less than 24 hours. i have the extended warranty and it will cover this repair but i'm going to have to pay $100 deductible for it to be fixed. why am i having to pay out of pocket for a problem that is not specific to my vehicle? they have posted bulletins but still no recall. is it going to take someone being killed before they do something about this. i'm having to depend on rides from friends to get to and from work, to get to the grocery store, to pick up my children. my extended warranty will cover 2 days of a rental. ford says they can't offer me a loaner vehicle. please make them do something about this... *tr
Leaving home check engine light and throttle lights came on and the vehicle was jerking and would allow me to give it any gas. *tr
The engine lost power while driving multiple times in traffic which caused a dangerous situation. there was a limited area which to pull the car off away from moving traffic. the throttle body is at fault.
At a stop light, light turned green got up to about 10mph and the vehicle just lost power...still at an idle in morning traffic almost hit by two cars. this is ridiculous if all of these people are having the same issue then why wont a recall be issued? i am a single working parent of three and $600 to shell out to fix a problem that ford knows is an issue? how will i be compensated after the fact because i know sooner or later ford will have to stop pushing all of us off. *tr
While driving on a back road, our escape started to hesitate. when i tried to accelerate the car did not respond. i then tried to pull off the road and that's when the car started to shudder. i was able to get the car over on the shoulder of the road and turn it off. *tr
Drove about an hour away from home, mostly highway. when i got into the city towards the end of the trip, the wrench light came on and the car stopped accelerating. i pulled over and restarted the car and was able to go a few hundred feet before i lost acceleration again. this time the check engine light came on. i pulled over, waited about 10 minutes, restarted the car, and was able to drive the rest of the way (less than a mile). the car was towed to the nearest dealer where it was determined the throttle body needed to be replaced. i am currently on a long waiting list for parts. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 ford escape. the contact stated that the vehicle decelerated independently while driving 60 mph. the wrench warning icon illuminated as the failure occurred followed by the vehicle stalling, but the motor continued running. the vehicle was taken to a mechanic numerous times for the failure. the throttle plate sensor and the power train computer module was replaced, however the failure was not corrected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 68,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.
First time i noticed a problem with the car it started to surge at a stop light. this has happened a few times in the last month. then while driving on the freeway at approx. 65 mph the car stalled out and had to pull over. turned off vehicle and then restarted car and drove it straight to the dealership. dealership checked codes and said throttle body assembly failed. part is on back order. this is a huge safety concern! *tr
I was preparing for a stop light in heavy traffic when my vehicle speed to stall and shake. all ability to accelerate was gone. as i braked the shaking became worse. i was finally able to pull on to a side-road and put the vehicle in park, which made the shake become worse. i cut the vehicle off, waited one minute, turned it on, and it seemed to be fine. i accelerated for approximately 200 ft and the event repeated itself. this cycle continued until i was able to drift into a midas shop approximately 1/8th of a mile from the onset of the incident. the mechanic performed a diagnostic and reported the throttle body was damaged. the ford escape did not exhibit any symptoms or warning signs prior to this incident. *tr
Car stalled at 35 mph and i became stuck on the road in traffic. the check engine light came on. the engine was idling low and the throttle pedal would not move the car. i got towed to a ford dealer who said the electronic throttle assembly failed. the part is out of stock nation wide and one customer they have has been waiting for 2 months for a throttle body. i called 5 dealers for part availability and they are out too and have customers waiting for a part. *tr
