Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact stated that the brake pedal was difficult to engage once depressed. when the brakes finally engaged, the vehicle came to a sudden stop. the contact stated that the failure occurred while driving at low speeds. the contact researched the failure and attributed it to the power boosters on the brakes. the contact stated that the vehicle was not included in a recall, but should be covered by an extended warranty of ten years or 150,000 miles. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle would be covered only if it were manufactured in certain plants. the dealer (leif johnson ford, 501 e koenig ln, austin, tx 78751, (512) 454-3711) was contacted and stated that there was no recall and the vehicle was not covered under the extended warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 71,000.
Brakes are not funtioning well they are very hard and make noice
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. the contact heard an abnormal noise when the brake pedal was depressed. an independent mechanic stated that the vehcle exhibited the same failure related to customer satisfaction program number: 13n02 (extended warranty coverage on the brake booster). the manufacturer indicated that the vehicle was excluded from the service campaign and provided no remedy. the independent mechanic diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 73,584.
Vehicle brake not stopping as normal. brake seems to fail - need to press hard and almost crashed.
When you apply your brake, you don't know if the car will stop or not and suddenly the brakes will stop hard and throw the passengers against seat belt. it is almost a violent stop. took to dealer and they said it is a common problem on 2013 ford edges. brake booster is bad. ford will fix some, but not all. depends on your vin#. no one can tell me why my vin# eliminates me when it is covered on most others. recalled on bulletin 13n02, but only on select vin#'s even though everything is identical...make, model, year, problem.
Brakes grind when approaching a stop. dealer advises this is normal and not a problem
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while the contact's wife was driving 20 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to operate as intended. autonation ford margate (located at 5401 w copans rd, margate, fl 33063, (954) 644-4976) was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000. the vin was not available.
The brake pedal is very hard to push, the brakes hardly work, while pushing on the hard pedal the pedal will go part of the way down and then suddenly get soft and suddenly engage brakes jerking the driver and passengers forward.
When you push the brake pedal, you think you aren't going to stop, then it suddenly catches and throws on the brake, making a sudden stop. i went to ford dealer and they say it's not covered by ford even though many 2013 edges are having the problem and are covered for brake booster failure. no reason for why some are covered and ours isn't. dealer wants $450, but doesn't have brake booster parts. i am afraid to drive this car now. called ford customer care and they issued an extended warranty coverage #13n02 for the brake booster problems in 2013 ford edge & lincoln mkx. our vin number, however, is not covered. ford customer service doesn't know why ours isn't covered, but still not willing to do anything for us. we have 55,000 miles, so our regular warranty has expired.
Power brake booster failed. i was moving and tried to stop and had a difficult time stopping. break peddle could not be pushed. ford is aware of the issue (see ford service bulletin 13n02). although my vehicle is the same it does not fit under the service bulletin. this is a very dangerous cituation. it almost made me pull into on coming traffic. i was stopping at a stop sign before pulling on to a state road where traffic was going 55 mph. tri- state ford in amarillo texas confirmed the booster was bad just like described in the service bulletin 13n02. i am paying almost $600 to fix something f has acknowledged is a problem after i almost had a wreck. why did i not get a letter to tell me of the possible problem. why did i almost have to have a wreck to discover what ford has known for years?
Brake booster. brakes began to make a hissing sound when pressed, and became very difficult to push down when needing to brake. i took my vehicle to the ford dealership and was told the brake booster was faulty and there was a hole in the diaphragm. cost to me would be $1000 and was told not covered under warranty. after researching this issue, there was a ford recall issued for this problem on 2010-2013 ford edges, but only for vehicles manufactured during a certain time period. after reading, there are hundreds of other ford edge owners with the same problem and have been told there vehicle is not covered under this particular recall and the cost would be out of pocket for them as well. ford is taking no responsibility for the brake issue on a part they already know is faulty.
The brake booster failed inspection for total parts and labor cost of $672. some 2013 ford edges were recalled for this but not mine. i called ford motor company to inquire but once i stated my question, representative hung up. i tried calling back but no one picked up. i want to know why my specific edge was not included when it obviously should have been.
When applying the brakes, the pedal feels spongey and the car feels as if it is not going to stop. in order to make it stop, you have to apply more pressure on the brakes than normal. i first noticed it while i was backing out of a parking space, but it also occurs any time you have to come to a complete stop. we took it in to a repair shop and was told that the power boost was bad and that this is a known issue with the edge. we then took it in to a ford dealership and confirmed that it was the power boost problem and the master cylinder might also be affected. while searching online, we found that it is indeed a known problem with 2010-2013 ford edge. our complaint is that if this is an issue with these cars, why isn't there a recall? this is a dangerous problem. we also found that ford will cover the repairs for this problem only if you have an extended warranty. unfortunately, we do not have one and therefore must pay the entire cost for a defect that is known to occur with these cars. my 2013 edge has only about 50,000 miles and i feel that ford should be recalling and fixing this dangerous flaw. the consumer should not have to pay for ford's manufacturing defect. coverage should be extended to all ford edge owners whose cars have this manufacturing defect regardless.
My 2013 ford edge starting making a high pitch whistling/squeaking noise when i pushing down on my brake pedal while the car was parked. i noticed it started getting harder to push the break pedal down while driving and took it to a mechanic to check the brakes. they told me it was the power break booster having the problem, and that there had actually been a recall on this by ford (for my make/model/year) and that a dealership should fix it. i called a dealership and gave them my vin number. they shared, while this was a major problem for many ford edges, my specific car was not a part of the recall. after looking into it, i found there were many others having the same issue with a 2013 ford edge and that their vin was not included in the recall. if a hundred people are reporting this issue with their car (same make, model & year) it leads me to believe there were more cars that should have been included in the recall. unfortunately, ford has been extremely unhelpful. i called the customer service line and when asking to speak with a supervisor to continue the conversation i was told there was no supervisor...which is clearly untrue. i was very disappointed with ford's response & the lack of responsibility being taken when this clearly impacts more cars. now, i'm stuck paying the bill which is about $600. i decided to submit this complaint in the hopes that enough people come forward for an investigation to be launched concerning the issue.
While driving home (15 minute drive) on both the city streets and highway whenever i pressed on the brakes it would make a hissing sound, the brakes would feel spongy, and the car would feel like its not slowing down or going to stop. when i was coming to a stop at a red light the brakes once again made the hissing sound, felt spongy, and the vehicle felt like it was not going to stop. i had to press down on the brakes hard and the vehicle slowly came to a stop almost rear ending the car in front of me. while sitting at the red light with my foot on the brakes the hissing sound gradually became louder then all of a sudden my engine stalled and shut off.the light turned green and multiple cars were behind me honking at me. it took a couple attempts of putting the car in park, turning the key and taking the key out of the ignition before the car started again. the brakes continued to be like this all the way home. when i pulled into the garage to park, the brakes did the same thing. it made a hissing sound, felt spongy, felt like it wasn't going to stop, and i had to press hard for it to slowly come to a stop almost hitting the garage in front of me.
Each time i pressed the brake pedal to stop my 2013 ford edge on city streets and on interstates, the brake made a hissing sound and was difficult to push to stop my vehicle. i noticed the problem june 21 2018 shortly before going out of town. upon returning, i made an appointment at a local ford dealership for july 12. the service department employee told me that the brake booster had to be replaced. my vehicle's computer system showed that my brakes were okay, so this major repair of $732 surprised me. after researching the ford customer satisfaction program 13no2, i discovered my vehicle wasn't included in this extended warranty for brake boosters. the edge manufacturing cut off date was march 28, 2013 and my edge was manufactured may 2, 2013. i contacted the ford customer service department to express concern that my edge exhibited the same braking problems as those that were covered in the extended warranty program.i was assigned a case number and was told my case was escalated to the service manager who would review it. my receipt from the dealership states that the brake booster was faulty and i called ford's customer service department when the repair was complete. i was told that ford would not assist me financially with all or part of the cost to replace the brake booster. because of my research, i know i am not the only 2013 ford edge owner whose faulty brake booster has had to be replaced at the owners' expense. the brake booster failure is a safety hazard for the vehicle driver as well as others on the roads. i have included a scan of my repair receipt and a scan of the chat i had with the ford customer service representative.
Brakes difficult to operate, heard hissing sound. ford dealer said it was bad brake power booster. ford has extended warranty for same year and model but not if built after march 2013. i contacted ford but they will not cover the cost, it appears many others have same issue, its not logical they would not cover replacement for same year model and same part failure. with extended warranty they give to some it says 10 years or 150,000 miles so they know the part should not fail at 71,000 miles for such a critical safety part.
The break booster was just on recall last year and was fixed by the ford dealership. it is now messed up again and is no longer under recall. the paint on the bumper of my 2013 ford edge that is always carport kept is peeling.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving 55 mph, the brakes malfunctioned when the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle failed to immediately stop. the dealer (don davis ford lincoln, 633 n watson rd, arlington, tx 76011, (877) 417-2317) diagnosed that the brake booster was faulty, but declined to repair the vehicle under an extended warranty. the manufacturer informed the contact that the vin was not included in the extended warranty program because the vehicle was manufactured after march of 2013. the failure mileage was 101,000.
Without warning brake peddle went straight to floor when depressed to slow down. car had to be bumped along curb to slow to a stop. called tow truck took to ford dealership. service tech claimed the problem was in a module controlled by the pcm. this needed to be reprogramed? this should never happen. i have no guarantee it wont happen again.
The brake booster has failed on my vehicle. i contacted ford. they advised me they are aware of the problem on this make and model, but my vehicle isn't covered. i need to know why ford refuses to repair the brakes on my vehicle when they know there is problem. ford issued a customer satisfaction program to cover certain vehicles. but refuse to cover other vehicles of the same make and model with the exact same defect. the brake booster has failed on my vehicle, making unsafe to drive. ford will not cover the repair. the vehicle has 48.000 miles on it.
I placed car in park on flat ground, took foot off brake, and car started rolling. this happened a few times within a week but hasn't happened since then. i had to use emergency brake when it did happen to prevent car from moving while parked.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving various speeds and depressing the brake pedal to slow down or stop the vehicle, a hissing noise was heard. the contact also stated that the brake pedal became very difficult to depress and required extra force to stop the vehicle. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer (town and country ford of nashville, 101 anderson lane, madison, tn) were both notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 83,000.
June 29, 2018 - brake pedal has to be pushed to floor to stop; july 2: brake booster replaced july 13: problem began again; 7/17 air in line cleared; july 25: problem began again - 7/27 brake booster replaced again: august 7: problem began again after driving 500 miles but 3 service departments of ford dealers couldn't get me in to check it out at this date; i drove the car with the spongey brake - not knowing if the car would be able to stop or if the brakes would go totally out at any moment! 8/31 silsbee ford service dept. called to say i could bring the car in; on 9/7/2018 they called to say the car needs hcl module; as of 9/9 no replacement has been made awaiting decision by ford. this is a dangerous problem which could result in accidents and/or deaths. it is a common problem affecting ford edges for 2013 - for the brake booster, master cylinder & hcu - module of the abs! the vehicles need to be recalled for the abs brake systems to be totally replaced before deaths result! ford edge owners are afraid to drive their vehicles! ford motor company will lose future business as a result of the dangers from this issue! documentation of problem is attached.
My wife was operating her vehicle and nearly had an accident on 6/17/18 being. one by she took it to midis muffler and brake to investigate the problem. they performed a check and advised it was the brake booster and there was a recall, extended warranty through the ford, we immediately contacted apple ford in lynchburg va , they didn't express and concern and we're hesitant to do anything because we didn't buy the vehicle thru their dealership, after going back and forth and getting no where we hung up. we then contacted berglund bedford, va we bought the vehicle there and they also serviced it for 5 years, we again. got extremely poor customer service, th they wanted to charge us to diagnose the problem ,which was done for free at the other shop , they expressed no concern ,gave us a service date one and a half weeks out. we spoke with the manager name brian whom also didn't care and said we drive it at our risk. a main issue all the years they services it the problem was known and they did nothing, we even had the brakes checked and serviced in oct 2017 . they chose to let an extremely dangerous situation occur.
My vehicle has the exact same problem with extended warranty for ford bulletin 13n02 and ford wont cover cost of repair. bulletin states year 2013 and vehicles built at oakville plant in canada. i feel my safety repair should be covered, yet i had to pay $480 out of pocket. ford has not been able to tell me why it not being covered
Brake booster failure at 88000 miles. abrubt onset of hard brake pedal with slow braking response. very hard pressure application would eventually stop car. apparent recall on same part but ford is not covering repair cost.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while operating the vehicle, the brake pedal became difficult to depress. when the brake pedal was depressed, an abnormal sound was heard. the failure occurred without warning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the brakes were replaced; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was returned to the mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake booster was defective and needed to be replaced. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was contacted, but did not assist because the vin was not included in a recall. the failure mileage was 65,000.
Brake booster failure. 2013 ford edge sport. i hear a hissing coming from my brake pedal when it is depressed. also the pedal is either hard to depress and/or will fade to the floor. when i noticed the failure i was traveling in city traffic. i nearly rear ended a vehicle, trying to get my vehicle to stop. i saw there was a customer service program # 13n02 for 2010-2013 ford edge's. for some reason mine was not included, but has failed the exact same way. i am responsible for the cost of the repair.
Takata recall my 2013 ford edge has been experiencing issues with the door. it constantly tells me my door is open when it is in fact closed. the lights stay on and if i try to drive the car it gives me a warning saying shift to park and that the door is open. it's been happening continusly and sometimes the door won't lock at all. it normally happens when i'm in park but as of recently it's happened as im droving. i'm also having issues with my brakes hitting the floor and my car excellerating instead of slowing down when the brakes are pressed...this normally happens on a freeway when i'm driving at high speeds.
I have a 2013 ford edge, brakes go to floor but not all the time. 1 st time i had booster done under recall dec 2016 mileage 59080, 2 nd oct 2017 brakes did it again mileage 66982, put another booster in under recall. dec 2017 mileage 68078 happen again, this time the dealer check out the hold brake system (the slide, calibers etc.) everything ok. june 2018 happen again mileage 71926 . i did have an auto repairman try and it went to the floor on him as well. i spoke with ford about it ford gave me a case # cas- 15014600 said i needed a dealer to check it again. i went to prime ford in auburn ma (the same as the other 3 times), they checked it and could not find and thing wrong, they asked me to leave it for a couple of days which i did and they still could not find a problem. i know it is not the master brake cylinder because when they changed the booster they would have notice leakage. prime has gone over the whole brake system made sure everything works ok. my problem is you don't know when this will happen, i looked on car problem site and saw where the ford edge has had over 300 brake problems and some of the those had the same problem. but what happens now if you need to stop real quick and it happens? car was moving around 30 - 35m/h when you go to stop.
The power brake booster has failed at 69000 miles. this failure is consistent with failures ford has fixed on the ford edge manufactured prior to march 28, 2013. my car was manufactured in may of 2013. i do not feel that ford resolved the issue with the brake booster failure. this creates a dangerous driving condition with the large amount of pressure required to stop the car. in several cases, i was unable to stop the care safely. ford issued a service notification for the vehicles manufactures prior to march 28, 2013, - 13n02. i feel that the issue was not addressed and continues past that date.
Backed out of driveway and had to pump/floor brakes to get stopped! on main street in front of a school! new brakes had been put on a couple months prior. had them checked by mechanic that put them on.
First my engine light was flashing when accelerating onto freeway, then eventually stayed solid. code came back as air sensors. i replaced o sensors up and down lean bank 2s, and the brake booster went out on me completely, followed by car stalling everytime brake was applied for longer then 15 seconds on and off . long story short paid 2,000 on repairs. then all the sudden engine lights back on followed by low tone rumble and power loss when accelerating to fast. i already replaced spark plugs and coil packs all 6, air filter and had 3 oil changes. sad part just purchased the car 7 months ago. havoc module to change ac to heat also went out on both sides but i disconnected an reconnected box on both sides to fix myself .don't know if it makes a difference on air pressure needed for engine.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while traveling at high speeds, the brakes seized and the vehicle made an abnormal sound when accelerating. the failure occurred without warning. in addition, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated even when all the doors were closed. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 62,000.
While putting on the brakes and turning, the brake pedal went all the way down and stayed like this for quite some time. it still brakes but it pulls to the right when done so. it is very annoying, but it is a safety hazard. i heard there was a recall on this action but when i took it to the dealer they said it was not covered. this is definitely a factory defect and i would hate to get in a court action with ford if anything happens. this mystery happened twice so far.
A loud grinding noise when i brake. sounds like it's coming from the rear of the vehicle. it it intermittent so when i took it to the dealer they could not replicate the noise.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving approximately 40 mph, the brake booster power seized and the driver was unable to stop the vehicle immediately. the contact took the vehicle to denton ford (located at 1207 double hills rd, denton, md 21629, 877-861-7041) where it was diagnosed that the brake booster needed to be replaced. the technician stated that the brake booster was out of warranty. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that nothing could be done. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 125,000. *tt *tr
Driving in the city, pressed on the brakes to stop at a light but the pedal was soft, had to push pedal all of the way to the floor in order to stop. very scary, fortunately i was near my home, pedal remains very soft.
When i go to put my car i park and take my foot off the break the car will roll forward several feet or if i am on a hill it will roll backward several feet. when i am driving on the highway the car will just stop accelerating at 80mph. on several occasions i was trying to get around a truck and the car just stopped accelerating almost causing an accident.
Brake booster failure. hard to stop, hissing noise, hard to back up, at idle when at stop light car cuts off, if at stop sign for too long with foot on breaks car shakes then cuts off, can't make sudden brake or car jerk and then is hard to stop, air pressure noise when applying breaks. when driving at speed while turning and trying to break to slow down, car won't slow down. break peddle extremely hard when breaking.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while depressing the brake pedal, an airy hissing noise was present and the brake pedal extended to the floorboard. on one occasion, the engine stalled and a message displayed, indicating that not enough air had entered the engine. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. an unknown dealer was notified and did not assist. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 59,600. *tt the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. *js
When coming to a stop light my breaks became spongy and hissing when pressed and is hard to push down as if i had no breaks at all and air was coming out of them. i was not prepared for this. i had my kids in the car but luckily i was going the speed limit and was away from any other cars. my kids were in the car with me so it added a little anxiety for me. this happens now all the time. i called the ford dealership they said it sounded like the break booster they asked for my vin since the 2013's have been recalled. he checked it and said yes yours was recalled so we made the appointment. i dropped it off then an hour later they called me back and said i am sorry but they have not recalled the ford edge with my vin as of yet just the vins before mine and i would have to pay to have it fixed and to come pick it up which i did since that didn't seem ok to me? how does that happen its the same problem. this is unsafe and definitely a big problem the ford dealerships are seeing. the ford manufacture knows of this issue so i am not sure why they are not taking ownership and fixing all the cars.
The brakes were in the beginning very hard to press down and then after pushing they went all the way to the floor with a hissing sound. it was very difficult and scary to drive as i didn't know if they were giving out. after doing research online it turns out this is and was a problem ford knew about- the brake booster was bad. there was a recall for some vehicles, but obviously not all of them, because mine did not fall under the recall and i had to pay $757 to get this repaired.
The breaks go out they get spongy or no power this issues starts and stops i never know when its going to happen this has been going on for 3 months now also the car smell like eggs from time to time
While approaching stop light, brakes were extremely stiff. would not stop. excessive pressure was necessary to stop the vehicle, at which time the front brakes locked up. independent auto shop indicated back brakes are not engaging and do not work. full brake job was completed and worked for 3 weeks before repeat of same problem. failure mileage 1st time 51,000; 2nd time at 51,500.
Began to experience power brake booster failure. heard a hissing noise when brakes were applied. found a 'extended warranty' for the power brake booster. my vehicle falls 2 months past the cut off. i feel that this is a major manufacturer defect that should include all vehicles.
Difficult to stop. pressing on the brake pedal i hear a hissing noise like an air leak and a high pitched sound. after coming to a stop the vehicle still wants to move forward. must press on the brake pedal real hard to get it to stop. have come close to being in an accident and currently unable to drive the vehicle. had mechanic check vehicle and they explained the brake booster is not working and should be replaced.
Noted a hissing sound when depressing brake petal, then a sponge petal with little effect on braking and finally the loss of any brake booster or power brake effect while braking. dealer said some vehicles had extended warranty for this problem, but others, like mine, magically did not!
While brakes were depressed, hissing occurred for about 7-10 days. then, while traveling in stop and go traffic, the brake pedal became stiff, and could barely stop the vehicle. this happens on a daily basis now, including not being able to stop in a drive through, and passing the window.
