Door ajar warning comes on which makes thee interior lights stay on, when this warning happens the doors will not lock. tonight, it was especially dangerous when this warning happened after dark and the interior lights stayed on while driving home which is a 20 minute commute. it makes it difficult to see what's happening outside the car, especially when you live in the country trying to dodge deer becomes 100% harder with interior lights on.
The door sensor to let the car know the door was closed, failed, resulting in a constant "door ajar" message. this occurred on the driver side door and started shortly after i purchased the car (used) in 2017 and was no longer covered under warranty. for the better part of the past 2 years i was able to repeatedly open/close the door until the sensor recognized that the door was actually closed, but that no longer became an option as of 9/9/2019. no matter how many attempts were made to open/close the door, i could no longer manipulate the sensor. two impacts occurred as a result of this: 1. the car doors would not lock. since the car believed the door was ajar, every time you would go to lock the doors, the car would automatically unlock them. this poses a safety issue. 2. the interior dome light remained lit, resulting in a dead battery. i had no choice but to spend approximately $350 dollars to have the sensor replaced. i have seen many, many complaints online from edge owners with the same issue, yet ford is not being held liable for faulty equipment. this is an unfair expense to pass on to the consumer. if the issue is not identified as a "recall", the least that could be done is for the issue to be fixed at no charge by ford, if/when the issue arises for the owner.
Takata recall the warning light that l passenger door is ajar stays on -- even when door is closed. this apparently drained the battery; had to jump the car to get it started. the dome light stays on. this has especially been a problem for the past several weeks. this occurs whether the car is stationary or in motion.
Door ajar indicated when door is shut. dome light stays on, battery dies, door will not lock properly.
Front passenger door ajar warning comes on, leaving interior lights on running battery down. when i am driving interior lights on it's really hard to drive in the evening/night time. my mechanic checked the door and said it's electrical issue not mechanical. first it happened when i was driving the lights turned on and on the dashboard was sigh passenger door ajar. all the doors were definitely closed. i didn't get recall when should've cause this's safety hazard driving with interior light on in night time.
Drivers door malfunctioning. safety hazard. door does not register close even when slam it hard.
Door ajar light on dash remains on even when doors shut securely. this causes inside lights to remain on, and buzzer to buzz. problem continues during vehicle in use
I purchased this car used. the headlights are extremely dim and unsafe to drive at night or early morning hours. i see numerous complaints on the internet and salesman acknowledges that these are known for this but ford won't stand behind it. now i'm struggling to find a way to resolve this.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while driving 25 mph, the headlights failed to illuminate without warning when they were activated. the contact called sunland ford (15330 palmdale rd, victorville, ca 92392) and the parts were ordered. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 79,000.
Driver side door gives warning of door ajar when door is cocompletely shut, causing the safety of my 5 year old and i to be compromised by the vehicles inability to lock the doors while in motion as well as leaving the interior lights on which impairs evening visability. lastly it continues to provide a warning alarm which impairs drivers concentration and ability to maintain focus and safety on the road and on other drivers as well as driving safety procedures. problem.is intermittent amd will happen when parked or randomly while driving. problem persists even after slamming door, which can cause further damage to the proper functionality and safety of the vehicle that is controlled through the doors control pannel. if issue persists i plan on filing with the bbb in regards to this issue and the negligence of ford in this hazardous compromise on safety for those in the vehicle, especially in cases including youth and children.
Door is not registering that it is closed. interior lights remain on and drain battery. the driver ajar switch needs to be recalled and fixed.
Door ajar light stays on dome light stays on keeps flashing two warnings, cant clear them
Rear left door ajar light stays on keeping the courtesy lights to stay on after the car is off causing the battery to drain.
Door ajar light on dash always on when ignition key is inserted - doors securely latched - dome lights stay on, draining battery - doors won't lock for safety in motion - dealer trying to act like they never heard of it, although thousands mentioned online - vehicle has 30600 miles
1. the 'door ajar' sensor is telling the car that the door is always open. as a result, the interior lights stay on all the time, which causes visibility issues while driving at night. it also leaves the lights on even after the engine is turned off and doors are locked, which drains the battery, and has caused my wife to be stranded a couple of times. we replaced the switch and a year later, we are having the same problem again. our daughter often drives the car to college at night and has been stranded at least twice after getting out of class at 10 pm. this problem has gone beyond a nuisance and is now a safety issue. when i called ford dealer to complain again, they told me they can fix it, by replacing the switch assembly on the door lock, for $400. so far, this sensor has been replaced twice in 4 years and it looks like it will need to be replaced again. 2. over the last few weeks, the light for "shift to park" come on randomly. most often, it is when my wife is stopped at the light. the moment she takes her feet off the break, the light comes on and stays on until she steps on the gas and the car starts to move. we took the car to the dealer and they were not able to find any problems. right after leaving the dealership, at the stop light, the light came back on again. we took the car back to the dealership and they said if we wanted them to look at it, they will have to charge us another $140 for the tests. either the dealership service people don't know what they are doing or they have a good scam going. they charge people and tell them there was nothing wrong with the car, and have them bring it back again for another charge.
The doors sensors of the driver and passenger doors are faulty, causing the car to register them as "open" all the time. this causes door locks to default to unlocked, even while driving, regardless of speed. this causes a fall hazard, a carjacking hazard, and an abduction hazard for me and my children. it also causes the overhead lights to stay on while beginning to drive until the car reaches speeds over 10 mph. this causes a problem while in reverse in parking lots, as the lights decreases visibility to almost nothing and prevents me from seeing cars crossing behind me and parked on my passenger side.
Driver side door ajar light on. vehicle was not in motion and the door is closed.
Door ajar front passenger
The door sensors in this vehicle do not sense that the door is closed when it is. this leads to being unable to lock the doors while driving, it also causes the interior lights to remain on when the car is off even after the door is closed and the car is locked which drains the battery. occasionally, the door will sense that it is closed after slamming it. this has led to an arm injury that i sustained when attempting to do this repeatedly from the inside of the vehicle. this is an ongoing issue and not a one-time occurrence.
Door ajar constantly comes on and off when driving. interior lights stay on as car thinks door is open. as several others have stated...i'm waiting for the day when i get in the car and battery is dead as we can not turn off lights ! just called jim click ford and they have found no recall on this problem...therefore i have to pay over 500 dollars to fix weird how over 150o people are having this issue with vehicle but ford doesn't think it's a problem. i guess an "accident waiting to happen" will change that thinking. when interior. lights automatically come on at night when driving i will do my best to see the road and cars around me. thanks ford!
When the drivers door is shut, the sensor will show that it is still open and while driving at night, the overhead lights come on at random times and stay on sometimes one minute, sometimes 5 minutes and it makes it very difficult to see and is very dangerous. the door is shut but the door ajar light as well as interior lights come one. i have had this "fixed" by ford a year ago and it is still happening.
Door ajar issue see attached. 5th complaint and no response safety issue when door flung open while driving , 8 year old child was in the vehicle!!!
The left rear door ajar notification light on the dash will not go off, even though the door is shut. which means the dome light stays on and the doors will not lock. this happened when the door was opened, but no matter how many times, or how much force is used to close the door, the notification won't go away, and the doors won't lock while in motion.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 ford edge. while shifting into park, a "shift to park" message appeared and a beeping sound was heard. the contact also stated that the interior lighting and instrument panel lighting remained illuminated after exiting the vehicle. the contact would have to re-enter the vehicle, restart the vehicle, and shift the gear shifter several times until the message and interior lighting turned off. the vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the contact researched the failure online and found other owners with the same failure. the failure mileage was approximately 55,000.
The door ajar light is coming on even when the door is closed. this is preventing the dome lights from turning off in order to drive and also draining the battery. is is a safety issue at night and when i park my car and the battery dies.
When all doors are closed, the door ajar lamp will illuminate. interior lights stay on and unable to lock doors while in the vehicle. battery drains
The door ajar light is always on and the interior light stay and which causes the battery to die. i have to open and close the door numerous times in order to get the interior lights off. sometimes the door won't even catch and has flown open while driving with my 8 year old child in the vehicle
I have had a re-occurring door ajar issue with my ford edge ever since i purchased it. over time, the door ajar lights come on and off even as all the door are closed. have had the issue lookes at by ford dealership, but they charge a substantial amount to repair it. within the past week, the door ajar issue is now causing the interior lights to remain on. i did not use my car over the weekend, and noticed 3 days later that my interior lights had been on for a while. the lights were extremely hot, that one of them was smoking. the lights now will not turn off because of he door ajar issue. when i open and close the door over and over again, the door ajar issue goes away and then the lights go off. this is a safety issue due one of the lights smoking. in addition, touching the lights after being on for days, could have cause burns on the skin.
Control panel states doors ajar and lights won't turn off or doors won't lock. dome light stays on and creates dangerous conditions at night when trying to back out or while driving. lights will also come back on when stopped at stop light and won't go back off until a certain rate of speed has been met due to the system thinking the door is ajar when it's not. doors will also not lock when car is off and dome light stays on draining battery till the battery is dead sitting in parked position. it is also climate sensitive and is worse on cold or humid days. both the driver and the drivers passenger door is affected and creates extremely dangers driving conditions. this has been going on for at least 6 months and continues to get worse.
Door ajar continues to stay on despite doors being closed. unable to lock doors (all doors) while driving. interior lights stay on. interior lights come on while driving making it difficult to see at night. unable to lock doors with keypad. unable to tell if door is actually closed or not while driving.
Door ajar warning comes on when the door is closed. caused dome light to stay on and has drained the battery. only solution is to slam the door.
The front, driver side door latch is dysfunctional. the sensor does not correctly read when the door is open and closed. it will not read when the door is closed, so the interior lights stay on. plus, the door agar switch dings. it is very difficult driving during the nighttime when the interior lights will not go off because of this dysfunctional sensor. plus, the doors will not lock because the sensor reads incorrectly. i recently attempted to lock my doors because i was at a stop-light in a rough party of town, but they would not lock because the sensor reads my driver's door as "open." i will not purchase another ford because of this issue.
I have been having a problem with the driver's door of my '13 ford edge limited indicating that it is ajar (warning and interior lights on) when it is not. in order for it to quit, i have to either very firmly close the door (slam it) or open and close it a few times until it senses that it is in fact fully closed. it is also draining my battery because when i exit the vehicle sometimes the interior lights stay on. there have been a few occasions that i had to jump start my car. the door ajar light stays on when the vehicle is parked and in motion.
Door ajar light stays on when door is properly closed. causes interior lights to stay on making it dangerous to drive at night and not letting the doors lock.
The driver door ajar switch/alarm remains on when the drivers door is firmly closed when stationary and when in motion. this causes the dome light to remain on which makes it hard to see, dangerous, to drive at night. the doors will not lock when driving which can be unsafe. this condition is constant on any type of street or any parking situation. my edge had around 31,000 miles when this problem started.
Driver door ajar light has started coming on regularly even though all doors are shut. sometimes it happens while driving and i get a "shift to park" warning. i then have to pull over and slam the door shut several times to clear it. it's becoming a hassle and lights stay on so it drains the battery. this is a defect and ford should issue a recall and fix this issue. it's a safety hazard as far as i'm concerned. *tr
Car is stationary. door ajar sensor is showing the interior light remains on which make it dangerous to back up at night. this also causes the battery to die. door ajar chime constantly going off every three to five minutes.
Door ajar sensor not functioning properly. the driver's door incorrectly states that the door is ajar at all times. this causes the interior lights to stay on initially when driving, or exiting car. car beeps and flashes a warning which is distracting/dangerous. car will not lock while driving. this is related to the ongoing investigation, i just wanted to add that my vehicle started experiencing this about a month ago. the problem was intermittent at first, but is now continuous.
When driver side door is shut, the inside lights stay on and the door ajar warning light stays on. door does not lock and door chime continues making it unknown if door is truly shut and secured when driving down the road. while driving the door ajar light has come on, cabin light turns on causing dangerous situation at night. *tr
Door ajar light on the driver side. my light came on 2 months ago and i have read 139 complaints on this problem. customers paying 400 for it to be fixed and then the problem still exist. this is a big safety issue and ford seems not to care.
Driver door ajar alert comes on and stays on will not reset, at the same time interior lighting remains on for an extended time after turning car off and exiting. drains the battery. the door lacks are also effected unable to lock while car is on, the auto lock not functioning placing driver and passengers in jeopardy. the interior lights also effected when driving especially at dark due to an extended delay in going off after starting prohibits being able to see outside and drive safely. have reviewed many reports from other ford owners on this subject on you tube many of whiz have had very costly repairs done repeatedly on the same problem, some purchasing parts to repair only to find the parts were faulty as well.
Door ajar warning light causes door to not lock and pop open while in motion. interior and puddle lights stay on while driving causing hazard by not being able to see. battery goes dead. *tr
The driver door ajar light is consistently on when parked it causes the interior light to remain on and drain the battery. when driving it will constantly beeps telling to you put the vehicle in park and won't let you lock the doors. at first it was a rare occasion that the door ajar light would come on but now it's almost everytime i get in the vehicle. *tr
Driver door ajar light remains on when all doors are closed and locked. dome and exterior side mirror lights stay lite due to this. car is in park and if you shift into drive when the door ajar light is on then the car tells you to shift into park and the interior light stay on. this started the week on dec 19, 2016 and has been happening continuously through out the week and weekend. car has been taken to ford today 12/28/2016 and of course they're arguing its not a service bulletin which means i will probably end up paying the deductible on my extended warranty to get it fixed when this is clearly a ford issue.
Door sensor reflects door open 3rd or 4th time this has happened. doors will not lock and dome light remains on.
My interior lighting stays on when i am in reverse because the drivers door ajar is always on, i almost hit my neighbor and cliped his dog because it is impossible to see out the back window when backing while the interior lights are on. this is a huge safety problem. i have filed on this before but now it has become a real problem. what if i had hit my neighbor? safety issue.
My driver door sensor constantly tells me that my driver door is ajar even when the door is completely shut, causing the doors not to lock, interior lights to stay on, a consistent beeping noise alerting me, and draining my battery several times. this is unsafe.
Drivers door ajar warning light on with all doors closed, overhead lights illuminated and audible warning as result of defective switch or associated electronic devices or other mechanical component installation,
2013 ford edge recently starting showing "door ajar" indicators on my message center. additionally, this message causes a "shift to park" message on the message center as well. what started out as a random message is now a daily message and i have to open and close doors repeatedly in an attempt to get rid of the message. night driving is no longer an option as i am blinded by interior lights when i can't get the sensor to engage and recognize that the doors are closed. during the day i run the risk of having a drained battery if i can't see whether or not the light has gone out when i exit the vehicle. when the sensor doesn't function correctly my keyless entry is useless as well. i feel this is certainly a safety issue, ford even lists the door ajar warning switch assembly and lock lever assembly under "safety" in my certified pre-owned coverage guide. i am paying the $100 deductible to have the switch reset as the dealer doesn't want to replace something the doesn't have to. ford should just bite the bullet and issue the recall for this, they listed it under the safety category to stay it's not a safety issue is wrong. if the switch issue was the flip and the light warning didn't illuminate when in fact the door was open that wouldn't be a safety issue? i think not. i have always had fords, this used cpo edge is closest auto i had to new in my life, i have never had any problems with my other used old fords, i'm disappointed how ford management is handling this. ford issue the recall and lets get this done. *tr
The driver side door latch has failed resulting in inability to lock the doors while the vehicle is in motion. additionally, as the door is not being sensed as being closed, the interior lights remain on along with the door ajar light. this drains the battery. the inability of the doors to not stay locked as a result of this latch failure is a safety issue.
