Purchased a 2009 dodge journey with 53000 miles on it. the car will not start intermittently and had it towed back to the dealer. dealer cleared the fault codes out and car started "100 times" says the service rep. then, had to take son to hospital and car would not start. had it towed at my expense and cab to the er at my cost. dealer has no clue what is wrong. so imagine buying a certified used car and being in this situation. car is still at dealership, been there for 3 days and they have no clue. they are going to start "replacing things" service bulletins state that ignition switches can go bad and should be replaced in these models. problem is, it is intermittent. *tr

Parking sensor in transmission that sends a signal that car is in park not working i properly may be a huge issue because when you are in drive and sitting it gets stuck in park. then takes off no warning. if me o our anyone in my family is injured i will be the one to help settle a law suit with chrysler. i spoke of this problem to the dealer while it was under warranty the rep. said i had to leave my car there till the problem duplicates. this is a expensive car and my only transportation which is why i had the warranty . the other issue is when sitting at the light the brakes slip causing the vehicle to lunge forward. this is even after replacing the brakes at the dealership the vehicle is a money pit. the consumer takes the bill or could lose their life messing with chrysler. *tr

On march 4,2011 my wife ,kids, and myself went out to dinner and when we got back to our 2009 dodge journey it would not start. i had to call a tow truck and inconvenience a family member because my family needed a ride home. i have taken this vehicle to several chrysler dealerships and no one can figure out why this vehicle starts when it wants to. we travel a lot and have to rent a vehicle to do so. it is now 2014 and chrysler still doesn't have a solution for my troubled car. we are terribly disappointed in this vehicle and can't trust it. with this being an issue you would think chrysler would recall and do right by their customers. *tr

Purchase a dodge journey 2009. i inform the dealer that the windows were not coming down as they should. didn't get fixed. the keyless remote was suppose to be with the car it wasn't, they installed a after market keyless remote, don't work correct. the brakes were squeaking and could hear air within the car when applying brakes. i was told that there's nothing wrong and it was normal. it has been 4 to 5 months later now its not starting . contact chrsyler llc , told me i had to have it towed to a dealer , get diagnose , get it fixed and i have to pay for it all and they will reimburse half for the part , labor is all on me. the vehicle has done this no start problem 3 times in 2 and half days. also notice that the steering column gets hot for some unforeseen reason . inform the dealer i purchase my journey from , i was told that is normal. still have the journey can't trade in back because i have no money , so i am stuck with it . having it towed to dealer to get problem looked at and all expense is on me. what do i do . i think chrsyler will not repay me. i have to borrow money to get this done because this is my only transportation. i am scared that i might have a electrical fire while driving and will not notice it until it too late. what do i do. please help in richmond va. *tr

I purchased this car in august 2010 (it is a 2009) and since then, i have had the vehicle in the shop 33 times. i have had to replace all brakes and rotors, had front passenger-side window motor replaced, driver-side is going out now, had leaking from the ceiling, replacing the cracked radiator right now, had the emergency brake fixed, needed new rods and bushings, fuel injectors run loud, there is a drone noise from the right side of the vehicle when going 1800-2000 rpm, electrical systems short out, had the electric throttle indicator light come on, car dies all the time, yet the battery is fine, ...bottom line, this is a lemon. i have the r/t model which the dealership likes to claim "is just the noisy one." that is a very poor answer towards a consumer. i take very good care of my vehicles and to put up with this is upsetting. i have spent over $3000 in repairs in the 2 1/2 years that i have owned this suv. chrysler has made no attempts to help with these common problems and i know that i will not support this company buy purchasing with them again. when i bought a journey...i didn't realize being able to drive it without problems, would be such a "journey." *tr

Front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced at 12k miles on our 2009 dodge journey. now we just had all brake lights go out. we took it to our mechanic and they found only 1 bulb bad. after the 1 bulb was replaced, all lights started working again. why would they put these bulbs in series rather than parallel so that only the bad bulb would be out rather than all? that is a big a safety problem in my opinion. also one tire now has a bulge in the sidewall and needs replaced. the vehicle has about 15k miles. *tr

I have a 2009 dodge journey that has stalled on me while driving twice in the last month. i lose all control of steering and interior controls. the dealer has been unable to figure out what is going on. the car has less than 16,000 miles on it. *tr

All the vehicle dash lights started flashing, gauges bounced to 0 and back, wipers would activate, and vehicle made chime noise - repeatedly. the problem will sometimes last only for a few seconds and other times for the duration of the drive, and even continuing upon startup of the next drive. this problem was very intermittent to begin with and now is becoming more common. i have not been able to find a solution and the dealer originally told me that they could not help me because they could not duplicate the problem. this problem is well known on many online forums and is a huge safety concern for my wife and children. i believe that it may be an issue related to the tipm and related to nhtsa action number :dp14004. dodge really needs to recall this issue, immediately. the problem is happening very frequently now. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. the contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. after restarting, the vehicle resumed normally. the failure recurred numerous times. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags , electrical system) however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10.

As i was driving my 2009 dodge journey on the highway going 70 mph it stuttered and hesitated to pick up speed. i proceeded to get on an off ramp i could not pick up speed to avoid being hit by other cars catching up to me!! luckily i made it to my destination safely!! the check engine light comes on shortly afterwards1 i took it to the dealer to find out what the problem is, they haven't properly diagnosed it right yet!! the car still dies on me while driving!!! by the way i had the car for 6 months and 50,000 miles!!! dodge really needs to fix this problem with their creation of death!!! hopefully they will before someone dies in a car crash because their car went from 70 mph to 0 in 60 seconds!!! i took it to a repair shop and a dodge dealership the repair shop says it needs a whole new computer the dealer say it's a bad solenoid!!! i don't know what it is and i should have to pay for dodge bad build of this vehicle with money or my life!!! *tr

I have repeatedly asked dealers to put me at the top of the list for the parts when they come in. to unlock the car, you have to hit the lock button and the windows come down (awful during rain storm). many times, the ignition just goes click, click, click. and now the message comes up "wrong key." plz help me get these parts replaced before an accident happens. there's also all kind of electrical problems in dash: if you turn on the radio, you cannot switch to cd, and vice versa sometimes the radio won't come on at all.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. the contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. in addition, the contact stated that the interior lights would fail sporadically. the battery was replaced twice over a period of two years but the failure was recurring. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and diagnosed that the driver's side door switch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer had not been made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 84,000.

Nhtsa it all started when i bought my journey: nice looking but very, very bad experience 1.transmission, it change speed by itself. it change speed from 80 mph to 40, then 70 mph to 30 mph.. i was driving in the expressway and this change of speed happen to me several times. i took it to the dealer and they said that they could not found the problem, after so many incidents i got mad to the dealer and told them that my life is at risk because the car change speed by itself that they have to do something about it. they finally fix the car. 2.brakes, i have problems with the brakes too. they run fast and have to keep changing them. 3.battery, i have problems with the battery too. i have told them numerous times too check the battery, because the car does not want to start and they keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with the battery. so my question to them is the following if the battery is good., what is the problem? i have to turn on the switch several times until the car start. they said that they cannot find the problem. and now the latest problem!!!!!!!! 4.steering, every time i turn the wheels the car make a wear sound like an old car 5.car does not turn off. now my car does not want to turn off the dealer said that i bought the car and that now the car is mine and i have to take care of it. yeah right!!! so my question is the following what is nhtsa going to do about it while chrysler ignore their customers complaints and not taking responsibility. in the mean time we the consumers have to pay for chrysler poor performance, etc. dodge journey should be remove from the market. and we as consumers should be reimburse or at least chrysler should recall all cars. *tr

interior dash lights dim or turn off completely when wipers or other electronic controls are operated. this has happened numerous times. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. when the key was turned to the on position, the engine failed to start. the contact was able to start the engine after multiple attempts. the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 14v373000 (air bags, electrical system); however, the failure persisted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but could not be diagnosed. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey sxt. the contact stated that without warning, the vehicle would not start. the exterior and interior lights work without any difficulties. the contact have to wait 30 minutes before the vehicle would start and over time it lost power and began to make a knocking sound. the brake pads and the rotors also began to wear excessively. the dealer was notified and stated that the vehicle needed a starter, brakes, brakes pads, rotors, battery, and struts. the dealers estimated repair cost was $2,000 at the contacts expense. the contact replaced the brakes, brake fluid, transmission fluid, and the front rotors for $738.23. the manufacture was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the current mileage was 80,000.

Brakes do not last. had to replace rear and front brakes and rotors at 40,000 miles, only 500 after we purchased vehicle. when braking at a high rate of speed the entire car shakes and steering column vibrates violently. we have not found a solution, the dealership says they cannot duplicate the problem the car will randomly not crank. it has left me stranded twice. after sitting for an hour it will crank with no problem. we have been told that is may be a problem with the internal security device that recognizes the key. *tr

I have been having trouble with this car ever since i purchased the car the car stalls while you are driving, the rear passenger door fills up with water and it is always heating up, at four years old i had to replace the evaporator coil and heater coil which is a $1200 job. i am a teacher i don't have money just dropping out of the sky i purchased a new car so that i wouldn't have to worry about issues of used cars. i am one who always keeps up with the annual maintenance of my vehicles. driving this car is very dangerous and dodge should be held responsible for these issues. by the way it takes 15-20 minutes sometimes to get the car to start up. i am really disappointed with dodge i was planning keeping this car for at least ten years now i maybe forced to get a new car note as soon as i am finished with this just to have a reliable vehicle that wont indanger my life. my next car will definitely be a honda! *tr

Frequently all exterior and interior lights flash on and off, windshield wipers going off, doors will not unlock, windows will not go down, dash panel flashing (it is as though the car is possessed, the panel will show the gas tank as empty, the temp gauge rises to hot and i have to pull over for fear of engine actually overheating) periodically while in this mode, the vehicle will not start. the vehicle has been into 2 different dealerships. electrical codes were coming up but could no't be identified, multiple loss of communication codes of the interior could not be identified (they were unable to pin point where they were coming from) i was advised to bring it back when it happened again. finally friday, march 13, 2015 the car started going haywire and i was able to get into the dealership. while the car was running they were able to diagnose and registered multiple loss of communication codes coming from door windows and dash board, they found they were all connected to the tibm. due to all of the electrical recalls when i first purchased the vehicle, it is my opinion that they have known all along that the journeys had electrical issues. the 2012 model was recalled because of them. i feel tibm has been the issue all along. i travel back and forth 100 miles weekly some times twice a week on the highway picking kids up from school and can not afford to be stranded on the highway nor can i afford to purchase a new vehicle. the dealership is charging me over 1200.00 for replacement of the tibm. i called chrysler/dodge care and they stated because my car is out of warranty, they can't help me. i am currently in dispute with them because, these problems were happening while the car was under warranty and they held my car for weeks trying to identify the issue. i am awaiting a response from dodge case worker. *tr

My first experience was the windshield wipers completely stopping while pouring down rain. i almost rear-ended someone. the wiper motor has been replaced numerous times. my car completely shuts off while i am driving or sometimes just putting my car in reverse. it is currently in the shop again. plus, my brakes are already gone and the car is only a year old.
