2009 dodge journey. has an intermittent starting issue. car will go weeks, even months without any problems. then it will fail to operate the starter motor. if it sits for a few minutes of hours, the car will eventually start. taken to local auto repair center. tested battery, alternator, and electrical system, with no apparent reason for the problem. please notify auto maker of this situation. *tr

On several occasion my car would not start - i would sit sometimes for about 15 minutes before my car would start. took it to the mechanic several times (no findings). just one day, my car would not start - called roadside service - would not start - car just completely shut down. had to have the car towed ($138.00) & had to have a wireless control module installed $830.59 - dodge/chrysler need to stop playing games - just received a recall for "wireless ignition node module detents" - but dodge claimed that the work that i just had done is not the same - it's still wireless, it's still a key issue, it's still a module, it's still regarding the ignition, my mechanic said it's the same - who do you believe - not dodge/chrysler - they need to man up and accept the responsibility at all cost! *tr

At any given time my call will not restart. i will park it after 1 hour of driving or 5 minutes of driving and never know if it will restart. i called dodge and they say they know nothing about this. how can this be when the web sites are filled with the same complaints. i do not have the money to start randomly replace parts. why will dodge not stand behind there product? *tr

I have been having the problem for a while where my car acts if it doesn't want to start and after waiting a while it starts up. i had the battery replaced twice thinking its the battery or that i am buying bad batteries. my car acts if nothing is wrong i put the key in the ignition turn it to on everything brightly comes on but my car will not start it doesn't click it doesn't do anything well after having this problem for a while now it wont start at all even when adding a new battery... i get online and see alot of other journey owners have the same problem. the difference between them and owners is now there is a recall for this exact same issue but mine cant get recalled due to the vin number not being listed which is unfair due to its the exact same car and the exact same issue i called the chrysler recall number l25 and they said there is nothing they can do since my vin isn't listed im so upset is there someone i can talk to about this. *tr

Bad ignition switch to the point that the car would not start immediately. *tr

We bought this vehicle in april of 2014 with approximately 116,000 miles on it. the day after we bought the vehicle it began not starting and leaving us stranded for minutes to hours at a time. i have six children that regularly ride in this vehicle with me, and it has left us stranded at least once a week (often much more) since we bought it. it has a brand new key fob (bought and programmed by a dodge dealership when we purchased the vehicle). it has had two starters replaced (one before and one just after we bought it, on the assumption that they had received a bad starter). i have been in a dodge dealership getting my oil changed, when it wouldn't start for them, and they wouldn't put it on the computer to isolate the issue, because they didn't have time. when we attempt to start the car, all we will get is a click. all of the lights, radio, etc work just fine, but it will not start. sometimes it takes two or three attempts to start. sometimes it is well over an hour. we are aware that our vehicle is under recall for a win detent ring, however, all of the dealerships we've spoken with say that they don't have the part and can't give us an estimated time on when it will be available. this is extremely concerning to me, given that the issue could cause my vehicle to shut down while i am driving at high speeds on the highway with my children. we also had new brakes put on when we purchased it (less than 10,000 miles ago), and it already needs new brakes. please investigate this issue. we can't get a straight answer from dodge as to what could be the issue. i am concerned over the fact that numerous times we've been stranded in extreme heat, and now we are going into winter where we get extreme cold. it is unsafe. thank you *tr

i purchased this 2009 journey in 11/2013 with 51000 miles. it randomly will not start. at first i thought it was a simple problem; now i am finding out that is a problem well known to chrysler and has not been addressed in the 2009 vehicles. this is a serious failure on chrysler's part to fulfill their obligation to address safety issues on their vehicles which leaves the public at risk. i have put over $1200 into the repair on this vehicle and the problem persists. i have a new battery, a new starter, and a new win module and i have the same issue.the car will randomly not start; i started researching this problem on the internet and found that there are a lot of complaints about 2009 journey owners and that the win module was recalled on the 2010 journeys because of the same issue ? yet chrysler has failed to respond to the issue with the 2009 vehicles. why is this acceptable ??? i understand from the chrysler technician who replaced the win module that he replaces so many of these modules that they sends out pre-packaged replacement kits for the installers to use.in early may i contacted the customer service / department at chrysler (1-800-853-1403). i spoke with [xxx] who pulled up the vin and confirmed that i am the owner of the car.when i explained that i had a new battery and a new starter and believed that i needed a win module he asked me why i did not use the extended warranty on the car; i told him that i am not the original owner and he said i had the warranty coverage until 5/23/14 under contract 36410717 according to your system. he gave me the mopar # to call to schedule repair--i called that same day and was told that i am not the original owner of the vehicle and i do not have the warranty coverage. i called chrysler back and was told that [xxx] had "made a mistake... sorry"-- information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

First incident was sometime in april 2014. while driving the engine stalled (turned off) three time daring that same day. i submitted an incident report to this office. called dodge corporate office and spoke to a representative named [xxx]. she help us get the local dealership fix the pcm flash throttle body, which the dealership stated was causing the problem. dodge has a recall on for this pcm problem on the 2010 and some 2009 journey models. my vin number was not covered according to dodge, but not vin numbers are stated on the recall notes. the second incident happen around a week an half after the first one and after the dealership say it was fixed and safe to drive. my wife was driving with the kid on board and while exiting the freeway, the engine stalled (turned off) and had to use the emergency brake to avoid hit other cars. called [xxx] at corporate and took car back to dealership. dealership now is saying the problem is the win module, which again is on the recall for the 2010 journey, but not on the 2009. asked dealership manager ([xxx]) if this would fix the problem. he stated he is not sure, but that is the next diagnostic step to take. i also asked how much it would cost to fix he stated $700 and they would not cover it, because my vin number is not covered under the recall. [xxx] at corporate was trying to reduce price, but dealership is not willing to work with dodge corporate. misty authorized a rental car, i'm having to pay for the insurance incase i have an accident. this needs to be investigated and all 2008, 2009, and 2010 need to be covered under the recall. all models are having the same problems. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I bought this vehicle in 2014, 3 days after purchase went to start my car, it wouldn't start. when i turned it over it said "bad key". this has done this off and on for the last year. as of 3/26/15 my car was totally locked down. i knew of the recall and have asked lithia of eugene oregon 97401 in regards to it, and they have said there is no parts in for the recall. i spoke with parts, today and they stated they had keys in. so then sent me to the service department. the service department states this does not fall under the recall or my warranty. that i need to replace the whole ignition, which will give me 2 new keys for the sum of 702.00 out of my pocket expense. if they are having so many problems with these ignitions for this year, i would assume it would fall under the recall. i have been stranded with this situation "bad key" and my vehicle not starting numerous times, each time that i made reference to it with lithia dodge of eugene, oregon. they just said they will send me information when the part comes in. the company never had a written report of the complaint on there part for unknown reasons, even though i had complained about it. i am very frustrated in the way service department has handled this situation non professional and making it now my problem to have to deal with. i have no other car so i have to pay to get it fixed at this point, and rent a car until they can order the new ignition in, and repair it. which they stated can take up to a week. at 20.00 dollars a day rental fee for a car, and then the other 702.00 for the repair. i am not a happy camper with my vehicle at this point, or with litha dodge of eugene oregon.. *tr

Car refuses to start, insert fob car just clicks but will not turn over, sometimes doors won't open. replaced battery in winter, 2 starters this summer (within one week), new batteries in fob, green wire to starter cleaned, took out fob and locked doors and unlocked doors (one site suggested they thought it might have to do with anti theft device), tried tapping/wiggling the gear shift (as suggested on another site), have tried all dealership and internet suggestions). i ask if it was a defected fob and was told "no". have been stranded in extreme heat for 30 minutes and longer, stranded in very cold weather (thank god my daughter was at the same store i was at, in her honda). dealership stated it would cost a lot to try to find issue, this is not a consumer issue but chrysler issue. chrysler is aware so it should not be my dollar that finds their defect. (one site suggested the power integrated distribution module rl692302-ae - $1k to correct.). surprised there isn't already a recall for this issue since there are numerous reported from other owners. afraid to drive car, don't know if it will just stop running while driving down the road, don't know if i will get stranded for hours. took in for l25 recall and dealership stated that wasn't the issue. fine still wanted the recall corrected. safety hazard especially if it turns out to be electrical, might cause a fire. need help!!!!! *tr

I was driving down the freeway and the )lighting bolt( symbol came on and my motor shut off completely. this is the electronic throttle control symbol, and i could have been severely injured had i not gotten to the side of the road. i called the dodge dealer in my area and the customer service line. dodge says this is my problem not theirs. my car is a 2009 with 102000 miles on it. i feel that this is dodge's problem, what happened to taking care of issues like this. my family could have died because their electrical part malfunctioned. when i checked on line it stated this happens all the time on many different dodge models i say dodge should recall each vehicle with these same components so a family does not die because of their use of inferior parts. dodge has recalled this part on different vehicles just not my model they state that my vehicle, which has the same parts as the other ones recalled is fine because the model year and options are different. to me this is asinine and we all know dodge needs to do what is right in this matter and fix my car, at their expense. *tr
