About 1 year ago as i was driving along interstate 95 the instrument needles all went to 0 or far left then went back to normal immediately. as time went on this occurred more frequently. about six months later as i was driving at night the needles dropped off and the head lights went off and stayed off until i switched from the auto position to the manual on position. the next time it happened i was at a stop light and the car cut off in the middle of the road. i called a police officer because i thought i might get rear-ended. after about 5 minutes the car started but ran rough. just this past weekend while driving at night in a parking lot the needles dropped off, the headlights went out, and the brakes malfunctioned. *tr
I have a dodge charger rt 06. i took it to the dealership a year ago to replace a part on the front end. there was a noise coming from the front end. now recently, i almost got into an accident because brakes almost didn't stop me in time and i wasn't speeding. before all of this, when i speed up, the front end and steering wheel shakes or wobbles and this has me worried. if by chance i encounter bad weather, because i do live in michigan, i hope something on the charger doesn't fail when i need it the most. to of my friends have also experience problems with 300 c's and chargers. *tr
Brakes have locked up x3. vehicle almost skidded into the back of another vehicle @ 40mph. afraid to drive vehicle. had it checked out by dealership & repair shop, nothing wrong. repair shop did note brake squeak and vehicle shaking even at low mph during test drive- he had just put new rotor and brake pads less than 3mnths ago! vehicle also has a noticeable 'kick' or 'jarring' when driving- even at 5-10mph in parking lot when accelerator pedal is not even pressed. i am very afraid to drive this car especially w/my child. this is my only vehicle and as a single mother and educator -safety, security, and reliability is important. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated while starting the vehicle the brakes became extremely difficult to engage and also difficult to stop the vehicle while driving. the dealer advised the contact that the brakes do not need to be replaced. the contact is aware of the safety risk while driving the vehicle. the current mileage was 20,800 and the failure mileage was 20,793.
I was recently in a car accident where my brakes locked on me and i went sliding into another vehicle. when the impact occurred my air bags never deployed and my brakes were still locked. *tr
Dodge charger. rotor/brake trouble. squeaking during 5-15mph, and violent vehicle shaking when stopping during 30+mph. *tr
At 12,500 miles took vehicle to dodge dealer complaining of the front brakes squealing. they told me the rotors were warped, probably from going though a puddle when they were hot, which i had not done. i had to pay to have the rotors turned. still squealed. ended up having to buy new rotors and pads for front. now, the rear squeal so bad i am embarrassed to drive it. will end up having to replace the rear brakes. *tr
Brakes: the charger r/t brakes only have 17k miles on them and the rotors need to be replaced. i complained to the dealer at 11k but was told that the shaking was normal. the dealers know about this problem with the rotors warping and refuse to extend the warranty past 12k miles. *tr
Repeated warping and squealing coming from brakes. dealership turns the rotors to "fix" the issue till it is out of original 12,000 mile warranty for brakes. they will then no longer correct the issue without payment. there is no permanent fix. *tr
Poor brake system on the dodge daytona rt 2006. my vehicle only has 27,000 miles on it and my rear and front rotors are shot. i have replaced the brake pads once already. dodge is saying that this is "common" and is not taking responsibility for this. to have this fixed will be approx $700. this appears to be a problem with several buyers of this vehicle. i have reviewed messages on www.chargerforums.com with people complaining about the same problems and dodge does nothing about this issue. *tr
Squeaky brakes/rotors i have been reading for the last several months about 2006 daytona r/t owners complaining about squeaky brakes. i too have suffered from this problem. i bought my gmg daytona in may of 2006. my brakes started to squeak in august 2006. i brought my car in three times to have this problem rectified. each time i received answers from the dealer similar to the ones i have read here. finally i was forced to write a letter to the dealer. "january 8, 2008 i received a quick reply and the vice president of t he dealership agreed to look at the problem. they replaced my rear brake pads and rotors. on the way home from the dealership the brakes began squeaking as bad as before. i was quite dismayed. i telephoned the vp of the dealership, whose reply was basically "we did what we can, we changed your brakes, their as good as new, and if the squeak, well then that's what they'll do, and we are basically done with this...". i find this totally unsatisfactory. good luck selling a $25,000 car with screaming brakes. i have thought of invoking the lemon law, as even though the car is safe, the brake issue could severely impact my resale value. i have finally broken down and bought hawk ceramic pads which i'm going to have installed. this to me does not seem the way this issue should be solved. i don't buy the "hi-po" brake sell that we are getting from dodge. i think the pads are substandard, and perhaps so are the rotors. this should not be the case on a car for which i paid $32,000. i love the car, and would hate to have to ditch it because of the brakes. *tr
Constant brake squeal when pushing brakes at only 6,500 miles. dodge unwilling to fix. *tr
Brakes squeal with light to moderate braking. rotors turned at 30k, pads rotors replaced at 60k. *tr
Charget r/t 5.7 l: starting at about 30,000 mi --severe (very scary) vibration and shake in front end and in steering wheel when braking at highway speeds. does not occur at low speeds. inspection of rotors/pads show no problems. based on my research i believe to be a suspension defect. *cn
First as everyone else has experienced the brakes started to squeal. then around 30,000 miles when brakes were applied at speed around 60 mph the steering wheel began to vibrate. later followed by extreme motion in the wheel from left to right and eventually the brakes began to cease during acceleration. had the rotor resurfaced and new pads. 8,000 miles later steering wheel doing the same thing and when i took it to the dealership they said my tires were bad and nothing wrong with the brakes. i find this hard to believe as the exact same problem happened before ending up with a bill around $1,000. so now i am waiting for the breaks to get so bad that they will actually service the problem. i am so disgusted with this and don't know what course of action to take. *tr
My 2006 dodge charger srt8 is just under 2 years old, with 10,500 miles. my right rear brake rotor has a constant squealing when the vehicle is in motion. this noise has increased in both frequency as well as volume. *tr
I own a 2006 dodge charger srt8. my brakes has been squeaking since 7,500 miles. the brakes were wore out by that time. the life of a brake is 12,000 miles. there is only 21,500 miles now. i changed my front and back brakes three different times. even changed the rotors. to no avail they still squeak! i brought my car to the dealer service center at least 10 times about the brakes. last visit was in november 2007. they said there is nothing else that can be done. *tr
Brakes squeak at low speeds, in drive or reverse. *tr
The brakes on my 2006 dodge charger r/t have been squealing for the past three months, and they continue to squeal. i have taken my dodge charger to my local dealership three times for this issue and i have paid for my brake rotors to be resurfaced. i have more than 60% of brake pad life left. the dealership said that this issue is a manufacturer problem and a need for a recall is necessary. please help. *tr
I own a 2006 dodge charger daytona r/t. she is driven very little and only has 5200 miles. the brakes have already started to develop a squeal at low speeds. it is my understanding that a large amount of other 2006+ chargers also have this issue.*jb updated 01-16-08. *kb
Upon braking, i experience vibrations in the steering. took to a dealer who examined my wheels and determination is warped front rotors. i have 16, 000 miles on my car and warped rotors? service manager advised to replace rotors at consumer expense. i feel as many other dodge charger owners with the same problem, it is a manufacturer defect. *jb
Brakes are squealing with light to moderate pressure. still has significant pad material remaining. i was informed that this was normal. many charger rt owners seem to be having this problem. *tr
2006 dodge charger 3.5l inconsistent performance stalling but not shutting off took to dealer on 7/25/07 the changed a brake toggle switch stall happen again today 7/26/07 @ 8pm. *tr
Had brake tsb done in sept. 06. maybe 3000 miles on car. drove my car on 7/12/07 and heard screeching from left rear brake. immediately drove to connel in oakland, ca. i got a call from the service department stating that all of my rotors needed replacing. the car has 12,500 miles on it. i've owned a 2004 honda element and still hasn't required brake service. how do rear pads wera before front pads on any vehicle? i had an oil change in june and there was no mention of brake problem.
The brakes squeling real bad rotors warp at 11,000 miles been havin problem since i bought it
I purchased a 2006 dodge charger r/t used, with only approx. 4,500 miles on it. after driving it the remaining part of the winter (dec thru feb) and into the warmer months, i noticed that my brakes started to squeal when i would brake to slow down from up to 50 miles per hour. i had contacted the dealers service center and had them inspect the brakes and all i received was the explanation that the brakes glazed over and the only thing to do would be to turn the rotors which would have cost me over $200. i went elsewhere and had the front rotors turned for less money, however, after approx. 3 weeks the squeal came back. prior to owning this vehicle i owned a pontiac grand am whose brakes never squealed even when aftermarket brakes and rotors were put on. it would appear to me that a car of this price, would not have brakes that squeal after less than 7,000 to 11,000 miles being driven. *tr
Brake problems
The front rotors on the 5.7 2006 charger need turning. they have been squeaking for some time, and i was told the brakes were fine. now, i am being told they need turning at my expense. the car will be a year old tomorrow. *ak
Front driver's side brake rotor is grooved. breaks squeal. car only has 12000 miles. yet brakes that are to last 50-10000 miles are already in danger of premature failure. rotors needed to be replaced by manufacturer. a tsb identified it as a defect and not a recall. *ak
Bad brakes. *tr
I have a 2006 dodge charger r/t with 19,000 miles. at approx. 15,000 miles, i noticed the car shaking slightly when braking. during a recent trip through the mountains, front wheels shook violently with slight braking when descending down a mountain. took the car to the dealer who said the rotors needed resurfacing. this vehicle is not driven hard and rotors should last longer than 15,000 miles. dodge would not cover any cost of resurfacing the rotors. mechanic at the dealer said dodge owners were having a lot of problems with the brakes on 2006 chargers. *tr
Brake rotors warped....have been since about 20,000 miles. brakes have been squealing longer than that. i understand that the upgraded chargers are being swapped out for slotted rotors because this is a known issue. i can't keep replacing parts on this car due to manufacturer defects. *tr
While braking the vehicle skids and pulls to left or right at slow speeds.informed dealer and dodge of issues. has not corrected issues as of yet. 1st the dealer turned the rotors left the old pads then with in 3k miles the y replaced the rotors and left the old pads and with in the same 3k miles they machined the rotors while onto he car and then replaced the rotors with " police issue" brakes for my vehicle. i feel all of this and my vehicle only has 9500 miles on it. i feel the manufactures and should give me free brake service for the life the car apparently the vehicle has manufacturer brake issues. *tr
I own a 2006 charger r/t. purchased on 12/26/2007. i currently have 3200 miles on the car and for the last 500 miles the front driver's side rotors were squealing. seeing that there were so many owners with the same issue i will be calling the dealer in the morning to schedule this to be resolved.*ak
Brake rotors are glazed and brakes squealed after about 11,000 miles, pad thickness 65% remaining. braking distances are dramtically increased as a result of the glazed rotors. *ak
Brakes squeeling at low speeds. *ak
Braking system is squealing under normal use, and warped rotors are noticeable during all braking conditions. *jb
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. when attempting to stop the vehicle, the abs light illuminates and the vehicle fails to stop within expect parameters. he took it to the dealer four times, but the failure persists. the current mileage is 27,000 and failure mileage was 25,000.
The abs lights and esp lights along with the traction lights appeared on the dash board, and when trying to stop the vehicle, pressing the brakes, it didn't come to a complete stop.it was very dangerous excorting my 10 year old son to school. *ak
Rotors are grooving. *ak
Front brakes whistling when brakes are applied.*ak
Warped front rotors after buying car and personally placing less than 2,000 miles on it. *tr
We purchased a 2006 dodge charger rt brand new in 4/2006. at approximately 8000 miles we started hearing the brakes squeal. it came and went but at 12k we took the car in for service. we were told nothing was wrong. i told the service manager that i knew there was a pretty big issue with the brake squeal because i had done my research. we took the car back in and they replace the brake pads and resurfaced the rotors. the brakes started squealing again immediately. i was then told that it was normal and that since asbestos was outlawed that all brakes are made with more metal so they will squeak. you and i both know that that is not true i have owned many vehicles and there brakes don't squeal. i was then told my wife drives the car to passively and the brakes are heavy duty and the car needed to be "stopped more aggressively". i tried to do the panic stop thing but it is dangerous and of coarse it made no difference. our last contact was that they were aware of the issue, had no resolution and they would call when they did. the dealership has since gone out of business. this has got to be a safety issue. you cannot run around with your brakes squealing and have confidence that there is not something wrong. chrylser knows that this is an issue and i want to lodge a formal complaint. i was told that i need to call the corporate representative and complain to them. which i will do. however what happens to me or my family if the brakes fail. the dealer ship has kept all the parts they replaced and the service records can be retrieved of the vin. i hope that at least a record of this issue is being kept and maybe it is time to force chrysler into a recall and permanent repair to the brakes. thank you *tr
Me myself had problems out of my front rotors i had a lot of vibration in my steering wheel when i went to brake and had to switch to high performance drilled slotted rotors. *jb
Took my srt 8 06 charger to the dealer 3-1-07 because brake rotors had grooves and pads were prematurely worn at 19,000 miles on all 4 wheels. district manager refused to offer a replacement at no cost. dodge knows that this problem exists and there needs to be a recall.. many complaints on the dodge forum too regarding this. *jb
On the freeway, had to brake suddenly and now there is a constant vibration at all speeds when brakes are supplied and take longer to react...squeak. *tr
Intermittent brake squeal on 2006 dodge charger vehicles. *jb
Brakes squeal at all speeds when applied. pulsating or shaking when decelerating from high speeds. has been happening for many miles and has been brought to dealer with same story: brakes are metallic and will squeak from time to time. *nm
