K39 2006 dodge charge shifter recall my vehical will not go out of park unless you manually do it ...
There is a recall k#39 for 2005-2007 dodge chargers for when the car will not leave the parked position. even though this is what is going on with my car the dealership is saying my car is not covered in this recall. my main concern is they are unable to provide me with the 2005 and 2006 dates of cars that were affected!. i want clarification of why my car is not covered when it fits every description in the recall. they had me tow my car to the dealership and now saying i have to pay for it to be fixed.
My 2006 dodge charger daytona will stall while driving. also while sitting at a stop light or sign. it happens during random times.
Power shuts off randomly, stalling, acceleration lost, but will fire right back up if you flip the key around or put in neutral. very unsafe if traffic coming and it shuts right down. also while in park it's shuts off
-the sunroof will not always close all the way. it will reopen itself upon exiting -my car stalls often whenever i accelerate, it seems the gas has to "catch up" this uncomfortable/unsafe.) home. also, it is embarrassing for my car to 'conk out'. - i am
On my 2006 dodge charger, an unprecedented mechanical problem happened with the ignition. it is unprecedented as it worked perfectly prior to the incident. the ignition will only turn from 'off' to 'a/c' and finally to 'on' but it will not turn any further to 'start'. this means the engine can not be started. with further research, it becomes apparent that same generation chargers and magnums are affected by the same problem, with owners reporting problems with the actuator pin. my car is stationary and as of late can't move with an outside source.
After filling up with fuel my charger will stall. it has happened 5 or 6 separate occasions over the past 2 years. i generally do not fill the car up all the way because of this. however just today i had the same problem after accidentally filling it. i do not top off the car when filling once the nozzle clicks off i stop. today after getting gas i went to pull out into traffic and the car stalled. the power steering would not work the engine shut off and i was stranded halfway out into the lane of oncoming traffic. i put the car in park and restarted it and drove about 20 feet before it shut off again. this is a huge safety issue. i thought i was going to be hit. i did manage to get the car home which is about two miles away but i had to restart it four more times. i've got roughly 80,000 miles on the car i have always kept up with maintenance and with any repairs that needed to be done. i searched online to see if there was a recall for this problem but there doesn't seem to be even though a lot of people seem to be having the same problem not only with the chargers but with three hundreds as well
Car shuts off without warning while in motion after filling gas tank. power steering goes out as well. very dangerous as the driver has no warning...
Car loses power and stalls/shuts off while idling at stops, seems to happen more often after filling up. has happened at speeds as high as 70 mph, however when happening at high speeds the car restarts on its own. when it cuts off after idling you must manually restart vehicle.
Why would dodge be allowed to manufacture a vehicle without a cabin air filtration system built in? this should be a recall as insects, debris, exhaust, pollen and other allergens constantly enter vehicles without this critical health safety component
The vehicle is stuck in park this issue has happened to many other dodge and chrysler cars. there is a limited recall but does not apply to my vin i have spoken with fca us lls and filed a complaint this issue is a serious safety issue if you happen to park on a roadside and cant get it to go into gear
Door locks lock and unlock automatically when fob is in range. continuously chirping. when key inserted on driver side ( only door site to insert key) the door locks and unlocks continuously while chirping. ( battery to fob new).extremely sensitive to slightest touch or hover; door locks have a mind of their own( up and down repetively).once unlocked, alarm goes off until key is inserted into ignition to silence. may take 3-4 minutes to enter car. pose danger at night or during inclement weather. vehicle performed the above stationary but have been locked out while car was running after key inserted; door closed manually after unlocked and car locked by itself when door closed instantly. required a lock smith to open.
Some days you come out and crank vehicle and it just cuts off on you will you run down the road it makes a beep noise and cuts off on you if you stop at a light it cuts off on you this happens recently almost everyday
I parked vehicle. when i stepped on the brake to shift the gear, it would not move. also when i blow the horn it gets stuck or does not work at all after airbags were replaced because of recall. car has been sitting in a parking lot since.
Car keeps stalling randomly at stops. it will even stall while driving going up hills or on the highway. most times it will not completely stall (studder) and continue on. if it does stall completely, sometimes takes a lot of effort to try and restart the engine. check engine light will sometimes come and randomly turn off. dtc shows p0700 and u0100. lots of others having similar problems. just google codes and look at all dodge/chrysler/jeep forums.
My 2006 charger rt just stops for no reason when i'm at a red light or as simple as a stop.cant find a recall it's very dangerous don't know why it's not a recall. i took it to the dodge dealership and they count find a the problem and gave up and gave the car back.
Car was in motion then shut completely off when turning into an intersection on s a a city street and started right back up and do the same thing again three days later with no engine fault code or no warning at all
The car keeps stalling while driving at any speed and also at at complete stop. like a red light or stop sign. i love my car but chrysler needs to do something about this dangerous issue. i don't understand, with this being a common issue with the 06 model. why isn't there a recall on these cars. i only have 62k on it and i keep up with the maintenance. if someone is reading this please help me.
Car engine shuts down at highway speeds momentarily and back on a couple of times engine shut completely off had to pull over to the side of the road engine restarts no fault lights come on after searching the internet i find that this problem has been around for a while very dangerous if dodge has addressed this problem i find no recalls it should be taken care of as soon as possible this has been going on for quite a while on my vehicle today being the latest episodes thursday, october 13, 2016
Key switch
My car will stall when stopped or coming to a stop. starts right back up. this is a concern for safety for myself and other vehicles on the road. i have seen so many other complaints about this on the internet, i don't understand why it has not been recalled and taken care of.
My vehicle has a problem with the mini catalytic converter. there is recalls for other vin # but my vin # is not part of the recall since my vehicle was build after march 2006. even though its the same vehicle problem the recall doesn't cover my vehicle. i will like an investigation regarding this matter.
Car continues to cut off while driving, makes a lot noise and all the lights on dash cut on and does not move when in gear.
Vehicle stalls while in motion, engine stalls shuts itself off on start up or while in motion in traffic. leaving me with no power to control the vehicle. this has been an ongoing problem for over a year starting in january of 2016. dodge dealership cannot find why it stalls even though it stalled on them while they had it in there shop. the reason for the stall is unknown . normal vehicle servicing is up to date but the car stalling continues to be a problem.
I was leaving a store and started my car. everything seemed normal, but the car would not shift out of park. i had to leave the car and came home and found a multitude of information on this problem with this particular model car. i also found out how to take the console apart to get in and shift the car without the shifting lever, so i was able to get it home and drive it to the dealership. the dealership told me that this vin is not included in the recall for this exact problem for "certain 2005-2007 dodge chargers, magnums, and 300s." i had them repair it for $155. the dealership shared with me that they service 4-5 vehicles a week with this identical problem that were not included in the recall for this problem. that is in greensboro nc, which is not a super-large market but is not a tiny market either. i would like for someone to explain to me in detail why my specific car was not included in the recall.

Gear shifter is stuck on park won't let me shift to another gear been parked all night woke up this morning togo to work only to experience this terrible surprise.
My car was stuck in park.upon reviewing my problems online i realized there is a known recall for this make/model of my car :customer satisfaction notification k39transmission shifter interlock lever. i called the dealership to have the repair and was told my vehicle was not included. advised to call chrysler and was told the same thing. my car was repaired by the dealership at my expense for the exact recall work. this is unacceptable. chrysler need to expand the recall to included all dodge chargers from 2005-2007 not "some" models.
Engine shuts off at any speed. spent over $6,000 at dealership still has same problem. very very dangerous at freeway speeds lose of power steering and power brakes when the engineshuts down. will restart and drive after malfunctioning.
The gear shift to put the car in gear is stuck and its keeps the car from coming out of park. you have to press the release button to put the car in drive.
Luckily the freeway was empty, but from 70mph i went to about 20 mph i had to call a tow truck took it in and couldnt find anything wrong with it. it did it again last month on a country rd, i've been lucky that i haven't been in an accident! it also turns off at stops but will restart immediately. no engine light is on i've paid for 3 diagnostic checks and nothing.
Filled vehicle with 10% ethanol 87 octane gasoline at self-service station on september 19, 2014. drove away and vehicle stalled at first intersection. i put the vehicle in neutral and started it with no further problems until i filled tank again after about 250 miles. (i was driving a 1500 mile trip from one state to another.) every time i refilled the tank, the vehicle would stall within a few hundred feet of filling station. this stalling has continued through yesterday, september 29, 2014, and i am concerned it will happen again when i refill the tank. if the vehicle stalls at the wrong time, someone could be seriously hurt or killed. *tr
2 months ago i was leaving work and got in my car to go home. my car would not shift out of park. i had it towed to a dealer and was charged 1500 to repair!! after learning of all the go recalls, i've come across many people who have experienced the same problem. i also understand that some cars were recalled and some not, for the exact same issue! how is that even possible? i am requesting this issue be investigated and go to be held accountable! some are being told it wasn't recalled due to not being a safety issue??? how is it not a safety issue if you can't move your car? i could have been anywhere in an emergency situation where i had to leave. furthermore, even if it's not considered a safety issue, how is the consumer to be held liable for an obvious manufacturer defect?? please investigate this matter. *js
My vehicle began shutting off while idle about about a year ago. it started back up immediately and i was able to continue driving. initially there were no check engine lights that came up. it soon happened again and this time the check engine light came on. i took it to firestone and they pulled some codes that they said the dealer had to repair. by the time i got to the dealer the lights went off and i shared the other diagnostic with them but they were unable to determine what was really wrong. it started happening again months later and i took it to yet another mechanic. this mechanic 'reset the computer" and made the check engine lights turn off. it stopped for a time but the problem came back. this time (140,000 miles) the engine shut off on the highway! i was slightly tapped on the rear by the driver behind me. another time a semi truck was behind me and i stalled. luckily we were in slow moving traffic. again at high speeds the engine would turn back on but this is very dangerous. i am afraid to drive my baby in this vehicle. there are a ton of similar complaints on dodge forums with these vehicles. dodge needs to fix this before someone gets hurt or dies!!!
Car stalls out after filling up the tank. it also is dying and cranking back up at 40 mph and a couple of times on the freeway doing 80 mph. also just sitting at a red light with a half of tank of gas and car just dies. have to put it in park to restart it. *tr
My car was recalled for the cooling fans letting my car overheat. the dealer replaces the fans and the asks if i want him to fix my overheating issue. i thought that was why my cooling fans were the issue. it stopped overheating for a month maybe at most the i had to have a new radiator, t-stat, and water pump. within a couple weeks on my way to my doctor the temperature gauge dropped to 140 and died. i started it up and it has a quick knocking noise that seem to tick too quickly to be a rod plus the car doesn't die. i turned it off after hearing the knocking and had it towed home. now my brother is letting me drive his car and mine is a yard ornament. *tr
The shifter stuck in park and we had to take the car to the dealership where the shifter assembly had to be replaced. upon are arrival the technician stated that there were 3 other dodge auto's were there for the same reason. our neighbor has a chrysler sebring which had to have the same repair just last year. as the chrysler had a recall on it and we feel that the dodge should also have a recall. our car is not 5 years old and according to the dealership should not have had this type of repair at this time.
Gear shift stuck in "park". there was a recall for some chargers for this problem but not mine. obviously, the same part is defective on mine as the part in the vehicles involved in the recall.
Both cars i got from the dealer broke down and had to be towed back to dealership. i told them i don't want to do business with them anymore . they never contacted the bank that the deal was no longer in affect and they needed to return the money. now my bank has me and the owner of the first car that was sold to someone else. i called the dmv and was told its true the first car belongs to someone else. i need help this is fraud. *tr
I have a 2006 dodge charger and noticed on the recall stats i get sent on the e-mail that several others have had trouble with their chargers hesitating or stalling on take off. i have had the hesitation every since i bought the car in march of 2006. i had it into the shop once in midland, texas where i bought the car right after i bought it and they told me that it was how that particular car did and it was nothing to worry about. seems like it may be a problem after all. i have right at 30,000 miles on the car now. it has continued to happen almost every time i accelerate. sometimes it is worse than others. *tr
After purchasing my 2006 dodge charger in april of 2006 i immediately had a problem with a squeaking from the front brakes. when taking the car in for service i was repeatedly told it was brake dust and it would go away when washing. the noise has never gone away and has continued to get worse now that i have over 20,000 miles on them. *jb
I have taken my car to the dealership 5 times to have issues fixed. each time i got the car back, it was worse. i had 13 issues originally with the car. i ended up suing, and got a very small settlement- dodge refused to cooperate. i still have each and every problem, and do not know what else to do. my car dies while in reverse, the brakes malfunction constantly, the window panel remains broken due to their inept work, the radio cuts off, the dash lights die @ night, etc. i would truly appreciate it if someone could actually help me. i do not know what else to do. i love my car dearly, but something needs to be done. the date i put as date of incident is when this all started. *tr
