I was stopped at a red light and my light turned green but i was yielding to turn left when i stepped on the gas and my car stalled in the center of the intersection. i quickly turned off the car and re started it and it turned back on. i was able to get out of the intersection before i was hit. i was extremely scared. and since then it seems to stall a lot when l am idling at a light or at a drive through window. this is extremely annoying and dangerous. please help me. *tr
Car shuts off while driving at any speed. *tr
My car was using way too much gas compared to what it used to and was running poorly so i took it in for a tune up. the filters, plugs, fluids, etc. were done. about two weeks after the tune up i began to have trouble. at first i thought it was the shop that had done the tune up but after reading hundreds of letters from other people, i know now that it is the car. this is what happens: when i began to accelerate after stopping at stop sign, my car lost all power and died within two blocks of the stop sign. the car started up and seemed fine. approximately a week and a half later, again, i was accelerating from a stop sign and the car stalled about 4 blocks from the stop sign. this continued to happen intermittently until september15, 2014, when the car died when i was approaching the stop sign and had to be towed. i have 5 grandchildren that i transport daily and this car is just not safe to do so anymore. thank goodness i have not gone out of town with a car load of children and have this happen.
2006 dodge charger. consumer writes in regards to faulty ignition switch. *smd the consumer stated the vehicle had a transmission leak, and it shuddered, the sun roof rattled and the side trim fell off. a former transmission specialist, informed the consumer, the condensation drain for the air condition dripped onto the transmission and pooled around the transmission filler tube. when the vehicle reached a 140,000 miles, it began emitting white smoke, to the point where the consumer was unable to see out of his rear view mirror. an inspection revealed the valve seat of the #3 cylinder had dropped out, smashing two large holes one on each side of the piston, the size of a quarter. there was also a hairline crack across the apex of the piston hole-to-hole, the debris had pummeled the cylinder head. also, debris from the damage had been sucked back into the inlet manifold depositing metal chunks into the #1 and #2 cylinders damaging the pistons and heads with small chunks of metal embedded in them. *jb updated 08/28/14
Vehicle stalls out intermittently after refueling. this happens when vehicle is stopped or slowing for a stop. had vehicle examined and no trouble codes are in the computer. *tr
I have a 2006 dodge daytona r/t charger. in january of this year, with ~185k thousand miles on the car, it began stalling after fueling. the car will suddenly die and causes loss of power steering and brakes, and is often difficult to restart. this is causing extremely dangerous conditions, as it occurs when pulling out into traffic and/or moving through intersections. because the car suddenly stalls, you are left in the middle of the street and at times, fast-moving traffic and unable to start the car to move it out of the way. *tr
When temps. were cold less than 25 degress the accelerator would would stick at 4,000 rpm. i could put my foot under the gas pedal and lift it up to a normal idle. the throttle is electronically controlled. here in michigan with more than 90" of snow this season an accident was waiting to happen, very unsafe. i told the dealer what was wrong and i expected a repair $495.00 parts and labor. i called chrysler customer service 4 days of conversation got me nowhere. i paid a $99.50 for diagnoses and took it elsewhere. the gas pedal assembly was replaced. apon a under hood inspection the connector that plugged in the front of the air itake was removed, throttle plate actuator. when i drove it in i could accelerate, my 6 mile ride home had a top speed of 20 mph and 2 dash lites were on. i went to kevin [service write up] and he just blamed it on the gas pedal assembly...wrong. the gas pedal assembly has no sign of damage, rust or anything to cause this problem.
My car stalls after every fill up for fuel. i later discovered this was a common complaint causing random fires as well as rear end collisions from stalling onto freeways . i paid $40k for this vehicle. manufacturer nor extended warranty covers this costly and dangerous defect. i would like for this problem to be rectified by a manufactures' recall or consumer reimbursement. please contact me at [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Stalls and shut off after fill up. *tr
After fill up my car stalls at stop signs and when making turns. i have to stop to get it started then it runs rough for awhile. this had happen a week before then the same thing happens. *tr
11/16/13 i had just filled up my gas tank on i95 at ladysmith, va and was coming down the ramp northbound when the engine sputtered and stalled just as i merged onto the highway. i pulled over after getting blasted by truckers horns for making them slam on brakes. after a couple attempts it restarted and i took off again, only to have it stall again. it did this three more times before it finally started and did not stall. since it didn't happen again, i figured i just got some bad gas. then it happened the next time i filled up. and the next. and the next. i checked on-line and found several others who had experienced this and they said it was the gas being filled to the brim that caused it. i tried filling up less than a full tank and this did seem to work. only problem is i now want to sell or trade in the car and i don't feel right passing this problem along to someone else. i saw the article about nhtsa forcing chrysler to extend the warranty on 2006 hemi chargers and took it to the dealer only to be told they know nothing about this and would fix the problem for $1100. why hasn't chrysler set up a program for these replacements? is there a list of the vehicles that are covered by the new extended warranty? can i please see if my car is on it and if not why not? *tr
Vehicle shuts off when stopped at stopped or when slowing down . i have had pcm, ecm, coils, and spark plugs and still experiencing same shut off. *tr
On 10/30/13 my 2006 dodge charger stalled on a major street without any warning. i had just filled the gas tank and was driving back to work. i had reached a speed somewhere between 40-50 when the car just stopped in the middle of the road. i was able to get it started and pull into a nearby parking lot and shut it off. i was shaken by the event, after collecting my thoughts i tried to re-start the car thinking if i let it idle for a bit it might be alright. the car ran momentarily then sort of choked and jolted then died. i tried once more but to no avail then had it towed to the dealer for service. they called the following day stating that they couldn't find anything wrong with it and we could pick it up. this same scenario happened twice before about this same time last year on two separate occasions. stalling several times at various speeds in both incidences. every time this happens i have just filled the tank using premium fuel. i spoke with the service manager and he didn't seem to be aware of a problem. i told him there are currently 54 claims all with the same problem and there definitely is a problem and i pray that someone finds a solution before some is seriously injured or killed. i no longer feel safe in my 2006 dodge charger. *tr
Car would no start after sitting for a short period of time. this has happened multiple times cold starts and short short starts, even stalling while driving. have taken into dealership and they can not find the problem. *tr
I refueled the gas tank with high octane gas, and while driving the short distance home, the engine stalled three times. this made braking difficult and scary, as i was in traffic. each time it started back up, but left me very afraid of wrecking from possibly not being able to stop the car. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that after fueling the fuel tank more than half full, the vehicle stalled. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis but no cause for the failure was found. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileage was 70,000. updated 6/4/13 *cn
I have a 2006 dodge charger rt 5.7l hemi. i just recently purchased this car. at times when i am accelerating quickly or press wide open throttle the vehicle shuts off for a second and then cuts right back on. the check engine light comes on as well as the lightning bolt icon flashes and i also hear a chime as well. the rpms drop all the way to zero as if it is stalling and losing all power but immediately cuts right back on. through research i have noticed this is an on-going problem with a lot of charger owners and a recall should have been issued by dodge by now before someone loses their life. tsb# 1803105 nhtsa# 10016027 *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact was able to restart the vehicle and took the vehicle to a local mechanic for inspection. the mechanic noticed engine sludge and advised that the build up of sludge caused the vehicle to stall. in addition, the engine needed to be replaced. the mechanic advised that anti-freeze mixed with the oil and caused the sludge build-up. the failure mileage was 57,000.
Recently i started having an issue with my charger. upon entering a high way and attempting to merge with traffic during morning rush hour, my car lost all power upon acceleration. the engine did not stall but the tachometer dropped to near zero, the engine light and power light flashed briefly and then returned to normal. i attempted to accelerate again and same thing happened. fortunately i was able to avoid a pretty significant accident with the cars behind me and the ones i was merging on to the highway with. the symptoms disappeared for a few weeks and then started again and progressively became worse. i brought the car to the dealer that investigated and found it to be the power control module which turned out to be quite expensive. i did some research on a forum that i belong to and found many instances of this. contacted chrysler and simply put they did not seem to care. there are many defects on this year of charger and not one of them has ever been covered, at least the ones that i have. i consider this latest incident to be serious safety problem and hope that it gets investigated. as for another chrysler product, never again in my lifetime. i rely on my vehicle for work and this is by far the worst that i have ever owned. please look into this before someone has to start checking off accident and death when submitting a form. *tr
On several different days and times, the 2006 dodge charger cuts off in the middle of driving, when car comes to a halt/stop at a red light or stop sign and the engine cuts completely off yet the radio and lights still work. just today, travelling within 7-8 miles from my work to home the car cut off 6 times and i am scared to death that this car will cause an accident. it sputters then shuts off but when u press teh gas it accelerates and continues forward. or it'll cut off completely, in which i have to turn the key all the way off and sit for a few minutes before cranking back up. at that time it stalls to crank up before turning over completely. it can't be the starter or alternator because i can hear it turning over. *tt
My car was recalled for the cooling fans letting my car overheat. the dealer replaces the fans and the asks if i want him to fix my overheating issue. i thought that was why my cooling fans were the issue. it stopped overheating for a month maybe at most the i had to have a new radiator, t-stat, and water pump. within a couple weeks on my way to my doctor the temperature gauge dropped to 140 and died. i started it up and it has a quick knocking noise that seem to tick too quickly to be a rod plus the car doesn't die. i turned it off after hearing the knocking and had it towed home. now my brother is letting me drive his car and mine is a yard ornament. *tr
I bought my 2006 dodge charger r/t brand new in june of 2006. i always filled the tank with gas until the pump automatically shutoff. i never topped off with gas or continued filling the tank once the pump would automatically stop. this was never a problem for 5 years. last year in october of 2011 at around 73,000 miles the car would stall and turn off the engine occasionally right after filling up in live traffic usually at a stop light or parking lot driveway. i would have to put the transmission shifter from drive to park since the vehicle shut off and restart the car with no problem. today at 75,600 miles on march 27, 2012; i filled up as usual and the car engine turned off in traffic on 3 different occasions. i read on chrysler owners' forums online this is a common problem with plenty of chrysler vehicles and chrysler is aware of it. the fix is a whole new fuel tank with a better fuel vapor valve and the cost would run $1300-$2000 for various car, van, and truck owners. the only other method i was advised by a dodge service advisor was not to fill the car up all the way, perhaps to 3/4 of a tank full. this is dangerous for any driver when a car engine stops, steering locks, and there is traffic behind you. some drivers will not know how to react in this situation. chrysler should offer a recall to fix this problem with the gas tank instead of charging the owner. *tr
Slowed to stop for red light. engine died. put trans in neutral and restarted vehicle 2nd occurrence same day , made left turn at traffic light , partway though intersection engine stopped. 3rd occurrence same day , came to stop at red light, engine died. was able to restart car. this is a new occurrence as never had this issue before. however engine cooling fans were replaced under recall from dodge about 1 week ago. car was fine before this though. have appt with dealer this friday. notice charger forums full of same complaint as mine. seems dodge not responsive to this issue based on forum posts. http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-35997-p-2.html. *tr
Coming to a stop at traffic red light, engine died. put trans in neutral, restarted vehicle. drove about 2 miles, stopped at red light, engine died. repeated start procedure as above. drove about 1/2 mile stopped at red light, on green made left turn across intersection. halfway across intersection engine stopped. gas tank 1/2 full. took vehicle to dealer who informed me they had never heard of this problem. yet many complaints on internet forums re this issue. also many reports of engine stall in nhtsa website. dealer advised me they could not see any computer trouble codes and couldn't help. never had any stalling issues until dealer serviced car several weeks before with new spark plugs, recalled cooling fan replace. per factory recall. this car is no longer safe to drive! filed complaint with dodge by phone, rep said they have never heard of this engine stall before!!!! *kb
While driving my 2006 dodge charger, it died as i was turning. the steering wheel locked on me completely. i took it in to our local dodge service center and they said they could not find anything wrong with it. a month and a half later the same problem happens, this time while stopped at a red light on our local highway. we have taken it back to the same dodge service center and they still cannot find anything wrong with it. i have been researching on line and this is a common problem with dodge vehicles. if they do not fix this and this causes an accident which injures one of my family members i will be suing dodge! this will turn into a class action lawsuit. *kb
Driving to the beach, suddenly all warning lights on dashboard came on, then engine shut off, loss of power, then thick white smoke coming from hood, then flames underneath the car, then within a minute the car was completely engulfed, destroying the engine compartment, and front seat, dashboard & windshield blew out... scariest thing ever.! i nearly escaped in time, lucky to have not been burned, lucky i got out alive... there should be a recall dodge charger r/t hemi, 2006 (5.7 liter) *kb
Engine stalls intermittently driving down the road and at stoplights. *tr
We own a 2006 dodge, charger sxt. it just passed 76,000 miles when we started smelling a strong odor of gas and exhaust. about a week later we heard exhaust noise and took it to our mechanic. when he checked it he found the right side exhaust manifold was broken into two pieces. he replaced the manifold and the dealership told him they were selling 15 right (passenger side manifolds every week. after he replaced it he said he still heard exhaust noise and recommended we contact chrysler. chrysler told us to take it to a dealer for diagnosis. we did and the left side manifold was also broken. the bill for both manifolds was $1035.20. chrysler has agreed to pay 50% of the dealers bill only or $250.96. there is obviously a serious defect when not only one, but both cast iron manifolds fail within 6,000 miles of the mandatory california epa warranty period for manifolds (70,000). i am seriously concerned because carbon monoxide fumes were entering the car when traveling 65mph. what would have happened if we had been stuck in los angeles traffic at 5-10mph. this defect should be immediately investigated before someone dies from carbon monoxide poisoning. *tr
The rocker bearing on the top side of the motor was broken (set back and not rolling. i had a heating problem with the car and had it back to the dealership . at which time they replaced the thermostat and told me that if i had a problem that they would deal with it then. well now is then and i am replacing the motor that i changed the oil every 3000-5000 miles they even said it is the cleanest motor they had ever seen. so the mobil 1 0-40 did not help. i have had problems with this car for awhile. first the brakes went out at 13,000 miles in which a service bulletin was out on , because the wrong system was put on at the factory . so i had to replace the brake system because it had 13,000 miles on it and out of the 12 month 12,000 mile warranty. i had called them numerous times about the concern of the temp. of the engine and was told that these cars run a little hotter than others. it turned out that again something from the factory where a service notice put out short of a recall and they are not required to disclose those. i really believe that nothing is going to be done about this , but enough is enough. the mileage on the car is 109,000 miles . car has never been driven hard . *tr
Rocker arm ticking in engine to soon for that kind of mechanical problem to happen. when i went to the dealer 5 other people were their with the same problem. i also looked online hundreds of others have same problem. *tr
Rocker arm clicking in engine to soon for that kind of mechanical problem to happen. *tr
After filling up the gas tank, within minutes i was turning left in an intersection when the engine stopped and the steering became very difficult and an accident was barely avoided. this was extremely dangerous because of oncoming traffic. in fact i was almost struck by two vehicles, one coming at me and the other behind me. i restarted the car, drove through the intersection for about 5-10 seconds and the car stopped again, same steering difficulties. started the car a third time and it moved forward with no more stops. this has happened at least 20 more time in the past 3 years. additionally, within the past 6 months, it has been very difficult to put fuel into the tank. it would take about 20 minutes because the nozzle would shut off. i could only put in very small amounts each squeeze of the handle. i find this not only annoying but also question the design of the whole fuel receiving and storage system of this vehicle. i have asked my local dodge dealership about the problems and was advised that a new gas tank would have to be installed for approximately $1,200! a new gas tank? that would confirm in my mind that these problems are caused absolutely by a design flaw and should be recalled and repaired asap before there are fatalities linked to this flaw.
I had a 2006 charger (recently sold) with the well documented stalling issues after filling up the fuel tank. the first time the car died i was in the middle of a very busy intersection. i managed to get the car to a nearby parking lot after 2 additional stalls. i took the car to a dodge dealer who could not reproduce the problem & sold me a new gas cap. gas cap did not fix the problem. for the next 18 months i could only fill the tank 3/4 full to enable me to use my car safely. i replaced the fuel tank and other components in 2012 to the tune of $1.8k. now chrysler/dodge tells me that even though my charger fits all the criteria for the lifetime warranty, my car is not eligible for the warranty. i will not be reimbursed now and possibly not ever, all because of a letter behind the 3 digit sales code. none of the documentation i received when i bought the car contains the sales code so i have to recourse to prove me right and them wrong. *tr
We have a 2006 dodge charger, always had all maintenance performed via dealership on scheduled time. out of the blue, engine light starts to blink on/off, car hesitating. dealership says the engine has completely failed, and we need a new one. dealership states "something" in the exhaust system broke off and entered into the engine, causing it to ruin the engine, and we need a replacement engine. we have never had any issue with engine up to this point, and the car was taken into the dealership immediately when issues began. we still owe 4k on this car, and feel we have done everything within dealership/car requirements regarding having only the dealership work on this vehicle for every engine need. no warning, no prior issue(s), no reason for this to occur other than a failure with the manufacturing. *tr
My 2006 dodge charger rt with the 5.7l engine stalls intermittently. this is especially true after filling the gas tank or on cold/cool mornings. this has only happened at low speeds below 35 mph. forcing me to roll to a stop in traffic, put the car in park and re-start it, which it does. however, now at higher speeds (65mph) the engine will stutter momentarily. the rpm gage will show the engine at near zero and then jump back to normal, shuddering the car. searching the dodge charger websites i have learned this may be related to a vent on the top of the gas tank which fails. the fuel flow sensor on the engine detects this as over-pressure and turns the engine off for safety. i have spoke to my dealer about this and they stated they are unaware of any issues. i have not been able to reproduce it in front of them, as i said it is an intermittent issue. i fear that the stalling may finally happen at freeway speeds forcing me to lose power when i need it most! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. while the vehicle was in the parking area she noticed the vehicle was overheating. the vehicle was towed to a repair shop where the mechanic stated the fan motor and the cooling relay system had to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 81,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge charger. while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact heard a loud popping noise. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the engine lifters needed to be replaced. the vehicle had not been repaired. the vehicle was taken to two local repair shops where she was informed that the engine lifters needed to be replaced. the contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint. the manufacturer stated that the dealer had put the wrong type of oil which caused the problem. the failure mileage was 28,070 and the current mileage was 28,320.
My 2006 dodge charger r/t experienced an overheating engine. after my mechanic performed many tests, he found out the a/c fan had numerous defects. the a/c fan broke apart, causing the engine cooling fan to also fail - resulting my vehicle overheating. this faulty a/c fan is apparently a known issue but not important enough for a recall. thankfully, i was in town and not on the road because my engine temp spiked to red when the fans failed. my mechanic suggests i replace the fan periodically, to keep from having it continue to fail and damage the entire cooling system. *tr
I purchased my 06 dodge charger r/t 5.7l on 12/24/07. i am the 2nd owner. i was told that the 1st owner traded because he needed a minivan. i have learned since purchasing the vehicle that was probably not the case. approximately 3 months after i purchased the vehicle, i was traveling at 35 mph when the engine began to sputter and the car began to shake violently. it acted as if it was running out of gas (it had 1/8 tank). i filled up and the problem quit. later that day i was on the way home from the beach traveling at 75 mph on the interstate when the same problem occurred again. i had to quickly pull over in heavy traffic. i called a tow truck and had to wait almost an hour with it 105 degrees outside! after it was towed home, it cranked fine. i took it to the dealer who said that they could find nothing wrong; i must have purchased bad gas. it happened again about a month later. i managed to drive it home when it finally completely stalled. upon cranking, it would shake violently, red line, back fire, then shut off. i took it to the dealer again. it did not throw any codes. they inspected my vehicle and drove it around town and could never duplicate the problem. it has since happened on at least 3 separate occasions and the cause still remains a mystery to me, the dodge dealership, and 2 private mechanics. i am thankful that my 5 year old son has not been with me any of the times that this car has left me stranded! it's an accident waiting to happen! *tr
In sept. 2008, dec. 2008, may 11 2009, may 21, 2009, both cooling fans quit working completely causing a sudden rise in cooling temps. since december the dealership has replaced the fans at n/c. on june 1 2009 the low speed cooling fan has quit working causing a hotter than normal operating temp of the cooling system, as high as 230 degrees. everything possible has been checked on the car by the dealership & phone calls to chrysler by the dealership were unable to find any reason for these fans to fail this often. i bought the car new in september 2005. this is the 5th failure of this component since september of 2008. *tr (three related voqs from same complainant: 10272632,10267070, 10269939)
2006 dodge charger r/t 5.7 engine. both cooling fan motors have gone out 4 times since sept. 2008. the first replacement set lasted till december 08, 2008. that set lasted until may 11, 2009. that replacement set lasted until may 21, 2009. each time the car has been completely checked for a cause of failure, which shows everything to be normal. this set from may 11 had 1 motor completely locked up. there is no warning signs of impending failure. the temp gauge needle immediately spikes into the red area and the temp readout went to above 240 degrees from 195 degrees in a matter of seconds. the fan blades show signs of hitting the shroud, but on inspection the fan blades and shroud show no signs of deformity and are the same size as normal. this is the 4th failure in approximately 8 months with the last only being 10 days from repair to failure. the dealership has been fantastic, chrysler was called and could offer no suggestions other than checking everything associated with the cooling system & electrical system which were normal. each time the cooling fan motors were replaced, only to fail within days to a few months. the last time on may 21 i had to hurry and shut the engine off, in traffic, and coast to a side street to let the engine cool down. *tr (three related voqs from same complainant: 10272632,10267070, 10269939)
I was turning left into a parking lot and the vehicle suddenly stalled. this has happened probably 20 different times since i purchased the vehicle in march 2009. it has happened while driving at various speeds, while exiting the interstate, while turning at intersections and while driving on straight aways. several times have been soon after refueling. this always happens suddenly and without warning and has nearly caused me to wreck the vehicle. the last time this happened was on 5/17/2013, i had refueled that morning. that evening it stalled twice and i had trouble restarting the vehicle. something needs to be done before someone gets hurt or killed. i'm afraid to have my kids in the car. *tr
Radiator cooling fan motors quit working & vehicle immediately pegged the temp gauge. the motors were hot when checking as soon as it happened. this has now happened in sept. 2008, nov. 2008 & april 2009. replacing both of the motors solved the problem the 1st 2 times. vehicle has not yet been fixed on the 3rd failure. the mileage on the vehicle has been about 40,000 on 1st incident, 42,000 on 2nd incident & 45,000 on 3rd incident. *tr (three related voqs from same complainant: 10272632,10267070, 10269939)
Car purchased april 06 defective motor replaced within 6 months, car has been running hot, taken to dealership, jan. 07 and was told as long as the dial returned back to cool vehicle ok, took back to dealer again at 34,000 miles before warranty expired could not find anything wrong, after warranty expired dealer replaced thermostat july 07, drove 3 weeks after repair made, car had 55,490 miles, car still running hot, per dealer need radiator, had radiator replaced within 3 weeks of thermostat replacement, picked up car and drove down road when car ran hot again, hot water ran inside vehicle on driver, now took back to dealership advised need heating coil, called chrysler said dealer was misdiagnosing, dealer said car is faulty, car had been cutting off on hwy. also. have print out of numerous time vehicle has been to the service dept. since purchase. *tr
I was driving along coming to a stop, when the car cut out. just flat went dead. no power, no lights on the dash, no real ability to brake, no power steering. nothing. lost all power. came to a stop in traffic. it sat there for about 5 mins then started back up. took it to the dealer (big valley dodge in van nuys, ca.- now out of business) but they couldn't find anything. didn't happen again til about 5-6 weeks ago. making a left hand turn in traffic. just as i finished the turn, the car went dead. basically the same symptoms as before. started up in about 3-5 minutes. i reached my destination (working out at the track). 1.5 hours later i had someone follow me home. within 3 blocks the car did the same thing. called dodge corporate. they told me to take it in. took the car to what used to be big valley but now is the superstore and had them check it out. they found nothing. about 3 week ago, it happened again but this time on the freeway in rush hour traffic. luckily the traffic was so slow that i wasn't traveling at a great rate of speed. again i was able to start it up. this time i had someone in the car with me. this car is a dangerous weapon and an incredible risk for any one who drives it and anyone who drives in front or behind. something has to be done. *tr
The engines' rocker arms & lifters are tapping & causing engine to stall & consume more gas all because the chrysler-dodge dealership have been replacing only 5qts of oil rather than the 6qts the manual instructs. nothing has been done by the dealer to correct this maintenance issue. *tr
06 dodge charger with 33,000 miles. car has began to violently shake and engine light will begin blinking while almost stopped at a stop light or fully stopped. i have to shut the car off stopped at an intersection for a short time and then restart to get out of the intersection. i do not see how this can possible be safe for my passengers(3 & 7 yr old), myself or other cars. this has occurred 4 times since may 2008. the dealership has replaced oxygen sensor, flashed the powertrain control module (saying lost communication with steering control module), and on july 29th replaced the powertrain control module. had car back a few days and backed out of a parking space, put car in drive and pushing the accelerator did nothing. after a few seconds the accelerator worked & i moved about 10 feet. the car started shaking violently/engine light began blinking and i had to shut the car off. fortunately, no one was around me this time. when i restarted the car, the engine light stayed on constant(not blinking), which i have been told over & over by the dealership is safe to drive. i was able to drive the 2 miles home. took car into dealership again on aug 4, 2008. was told this time that there is a tsb & they have to order parts. but to pick it up until the parts come in that it is safe to drive. *tr the consumer was told the vehicle had an evaporation leak. there were times when the vehicle would not accelerate, the engine light and esp/bas light illuminated. the dealer then stated the cause of the problem was a multi-cylinder misfire at cylinders 2-4. updated 10/09/08. *jb
I have a 2006 dodge charger that attempts to stall ~ while driving and while sitting at a traffic light ~ and then will hesitate upon acceleration before lurching forward. no accident or injuries yet, but potential is there. miracle i haven't been rear ended or rear ended someone else. frightening to think of what could happen if traveling on a highway at around 60-65 mph and the car did stall. i found a forum online with numerous dodge charger owners experiencing the same problem. no recall that i can see...yet. i've had mine in the shop five times for this problem and it still acts up. *tr
