Door lock system has failed due to computer glitch. from what i have found on-line this problem has been happening for years and should be covered by a recall. *tr
The automatic locks stopped working. they are supposed to automatically lock at 15mph as a safety feature and then do not. it also means i have to enter the car only from driver side and manually lock or unlock all my doors and my trunk door does not lock at all. i consider this a safety issue as i have children as well as i can not secure my car when i am not in it. *tr
Locks no longer work with the fob or the automatic lock/unlock button in the car. the locks no longer lock when the car reaches 10 or 15 mph. if it stops working while your car is unlocked, you can not secure your vehicle because you can not manually lock the trunk. *tr
My power locks stopped working. the key fob beeped, but did nothing, and using the buttons within the car did nothing. i took it to a mechanic who fixed loose wires, and they worked again... for just a couple months. now they told me i need to have dodge "flash" the computer system, (for over $100!) but everything i've read online says that is only a temporary fix, and changing the fuse may fix it, again, temporarily. it seems to be a major defect and with children in the car, is a very major safety hazard. it's not okay to have to fix this repeatedly. *tr

Power door locks stopped operating. they cannot be unlocked with the keyless entry, nor can the be unlocked by the driver's or passenger's power buttons. as time has gone by, we have been manually locking and unlocking the doors, but now those are even getting harder to unlock manually....it is as if they are becoming stuck shut. *tr

My 2005 dodge caravan smelled strong gasoline odor in and out. when i took it to the mechanic he knew exactly what was wrong because he serviced 3 vans like mine with similar issue. when he lifted my van and started the gas started to pour. the fortunate part was that i am lucky that it didn't explode on me while driving. here is the worst part, i called rancho jeep chryler in san diego to order a new fuel pump, i was told that the parts is nationally back ordered and it will take 3 to a month waiting period and nowhere available as per parts technician. if it is back ordered nationally, will it constitute recall? this situation is a major safety violation just waiting a major explosion to occur. my van only have 50k miles in it and i bought it brand new and always service timely. i am hoping that the company will take some action immediately to prevent costly lawsuits. i am receiving all my receipts as a proof when something happen. i will be the first one to come forward. my second complain is the lock, it is very uncomfortable if you manually lock and unlock all doors. i have to pull out the iod fuse everytime to reset, this is also a national issue because i found this from the blogs of other dodge caravan owners. my 3rd complain is why are my front brakes always shakes no matter what i do to it. i replaced both rotors and pads. *tr
Car door locks will not work on key chain or buttons on door will not lock doors have to manually lock and unlock doors pull iod fuse and they will start back working for two days up to a week then they quit working again called main dodge corp they said they have had several complaint on it but they would not have a recall on it. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge caravan. the contact stated that the door locks failed. the door locks could not be unlocked with the keyless remote. the contact's personal mechanic removed the iod fuse for a brief moment and when the fuse was replaced, the doors unlocked with the keyless remote but the failure was not permanently corrected. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000 and the approximate current mileage was 36,500. updated 4/22/14*cn updated 04/25/2014 *js
The doors will not lock/unlock with the key automatically nor will the doors lock when driving as they normally do. the car "beeps" so you think the doors are locked but they are not. the first few times it occurred, we removed the fuse and reinserted. eventually this "fix" worked only briefly. this failure is unsafe for personal safety and also for property in the car. this is a common problem with 2005 dodge caravans. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge caravan. the contact stated that the power door locks failed. the keyless entry did not work on the vehicle and the locks would not engage automatically. the contact replaced a 20 amp fuse to correct the failure. the vin was not available. the failure and the current mileage was 104,000.
2005 dodge caravan. consumer states ongoing problem with power door locks *tgw the dealer was unable to correct the problem. *jb
My power locks stopped working about a month ago. they will work manually but will not operate with the remote or the power lock button. tried disconnecting battery and then re-connecting, tried remedy in handbook (turning key in ignition 4 times on and off , without actually starting it, and then depressing the power lock switch) which worked for two days. this is a safety issue!!! the locks are designed to automatically lock when reaching speed of approximately 20 mph. it does not. this is a safety issue!! why doesn't dodge admit to this problem and provide a free software upgrade! many people are experiencing the same problem. google it, it's there plain as day! is dodge hoping the problem will just go away by itself? this is a safety issue! fix it! *tr

I own a 2005 dodge caravan and starting at the beginning this summer the doors started to not lock or unlock with switch inside or with key lock button. we have had to jiggle the fuses at least 3 times. just fixed again today. there is only one lock on driver side door that uses key to enter it. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge caravan. the contact stated that the interior power locks malfunctioned. the contact was unable to electronically lock the door by using the power locking system and had to manually lock each door separately. the keyless remote lock also did not lock the doors. before purchasing the vehicle, the dealer informed the contact of the faulty door locks and stated that they would repair the door locks before taking possession of the vehicle. one week after purchasing the vehicle, the door lock malfunctioned. the contact had not taken the vehicle back to the dealer for further repairs. the failure mileage was 53,000.

Electric door locks not working. *tr
Power door locks no longer work. neither the buttons on the key fob nor the switches on the inside door panels will lock or unlock the doors. if i disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then re-connect it, the locks will work properly, but only for short time periods. *tr
The automatic door locking system on my 2005 dodge caravan stop working . it can be reset by pulling the iod 20amp fuse in the main fuse panel for 5 seconds and reinstalling it which resets the system. it will then work for a short period of time before the problem reocurrs. i have had to reset the system many times. there are many caravan owners with this problem. i feel this a serious safety issue and more so if you have kids. while chrysler has apparently denied that this problem exists i have done research and found that it is a factory defect and chrysler possibly has a software update which can correct the problem. chrysler should be made to bear the cost of the repair to the automatic door locking system on my caravan via a recall. *tr
power door locks stopped working about 2 months ago. i read on the internet how to fix it, most suggestions were to replace the fuse. we have cleaned and replaced the fuse several times, but the door locks still go out erratically. this is a major issue because i have a very bad back and it is impossible for me to reach/lean across or to crawl to the back to lock the door manually. there are so many complaints about this issue. why hasn't dodge or the government taken care of this problem. how many complaints does there have to be in order to have something recalled? *tr
2005 dodge caravan sxt. power door locks stopped working. in checking the internet for solution i found this is a big problem with this vehicle and can be a safety issue. i was able to fix by removing and replacing the fuse. but according to most folks experiences the problem returns and the quick fixes no longer work. only the driver door has a key lock on this vehicle. *tr
Door/sliders lock would not operate by remote. had to manually enter thru the back lift gate and unlock from inside. *tr
The power door locks suddenly quit working on my 2005 caravan. after looking at the internet i discovered that this is a common problem with this van and dodge knows about it. this issue needs to have a recall issued to make dodge fix the problem. not having door locks is very dangerous. did the internet fix once. lasted about 1 year. *tr
The power locks stopped working. i feel that this is a safety concern since while driving down the road with my children they could open the doors. it is supposed to lock automatically but i can't even manually lock it. also the headlights randomly shut off while driving. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge caravan. the contact stated that all four door locks were defective and would only lock or unlock manually. the rear door would sporadically lock and unlock. a local mechanic diagnosed that the failure was electrical and would need repairs. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 90,000 and the current mileage 100,000. when the rear door unlocks sporadically, there is no way to lock with key. no way to open from the inside. i was quoted a repair price of $ to repair. something common enough for a general mechanic is several of these and so expensive to repair. should be a recall. updated 10/11/2011 *ln
