Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while having regular maintenance performed, the technician notified him that the sub frame was completely corroded. the technician stated that the sub frame needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 99,000. updated 10/07/14*lj

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while the vehicle being serviced, the private mechanic stated that the frame was rusted and corroded. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.

I took my vehicle to my mechanic for it's regular tire rotation & oil change on july 9, 2014. he called me to come over and showed me the rust on the front of the subframe. i've religiously maintained this vehicle and had no idea that it was a known problem on the pacifica. i've never received any notice advising me that it could be a problem and i've been a loyal chrysler customer for at least the last 20 years. this car is only 8 years old!!! *tr

Vehicle was taken in to local dealership for a brake job and for issues with the ride and an odor in the interior cabin that appeared after prolonged acceleration. upon inspection, it was reported that the vehicle was unsafe due to the sub-frame being rotted and the motor mounts worn to such a degree that the engine could fall out of the vehicle entirely. the entire exhaust system was compromised as well, including the exhaust manifolds. in addition, much of the front suspension was shot and needed replacement. our family purchased this vehicle new and have had it serviced many, many times at a chrysler facility over the eight years we owned it. we were never informed once that the sub-frame had any sign of excessive corrosion until now. we believe the corrosion is the result of poor design and possibility poor material. we also believe the engine instability contributed to some of the other damage. the total repair bill exceeded $6,500. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds, the contact heard an abnormal noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. the dealer stated that the subframe needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Motor mounts replaced, tie rods replaced, control arms replaced all done in the last month !! why doesn't chrysler have a recall out on this issues since it's known for it! oh did i mention the gas pedal gets stuck all the time! other thing is my check engine light keeps coming on and off...it's been diagnosed as the fuel pump....really at this point i'm tired of putting money into the car. *tr

My 2006 pacifica was just found to have significant engine cradle rust/corrosion issues. this problem just surfaced in the last 12 months. it is clear that chrysler is not appropriately handling the issue since they are not covering the repair and there appears to be numerous complaints addressing this same problem. *tr

The vehicle was brought in for state inspection on 6/16/14 and failed because the engine cradle was rusted out. *tr

Tl* the contact owns 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the front engine cradle was rusted and needed to be replaced. the contact had not notified the manufacturer of the problem. the approximate mileage at time of failure was 97,000. updated 8/22/14*cn

During routine oil change, significant rust-through was discovered on engine cradle. this car has been garaged all its life and only has 51,000 miles. i see through investigation that this problem has been occurring since 2004 and there seems to be no help from chrysler for the 2006 model year. well my days of being a "chrysler and dodge man" are over! *tr

A few weeks before this happened, i noticed my rear tire leaning outward. took it too the shop a few times wondering what was the cause. it was determined from a dealership it was the struts. i was told the pacifica was known for it. so i had the struts replaced. it helped but the tire was still leaning, it wasn't perfect like the rest. i was told that there was no other reason because everything looked good underneath and suspension. i looked several times, myself. not seeing any major rust or anything unsafe. then driving on the freeway 150 mile's from home, at 70 mph, a hard bang and the rear end lifted up and dropped down. car uncontrollable. finally able to stop and realize the subframe dropped right out of the car leaving my rear differential on the ground. it had rusted from the top of the subframe down. looked on line and seen it was happening to other people. called chrysler was told my problem. hence my first american made car and my last. pos!!!

Took my 2006 pacifica in for inspection. the engine cradle is rusted through and unsafe. i found out that there is extended coverage on some of these cars. i called chrysler and was told i should pay for it (2500.00) now and save my receipts because there may be a recall someday that will cover my car. they obviously know this is a major problem but are not standing behind their product. i have found several hundred complaints on multiple websites about this same issue and even found a petition on change.org, which i signed. i also found that several people are trying to put together a class action lawsuit, count me in. *tr

I had my 2006 chrysler pacifica in for a routine inspection and two places on my subframe it has rusted all the way through the frame. i know there has been an extended warranty letter sent by chrysler to all 2004-2005 pacifica owners but the 2006 pacificas have the exact same subframe. i filed a case with chrysler's corporate offices and am waiting for their response. i have only 90k miles and my car is in mint condition. often i am asked if it is a brand new vehicle. *tr

While changing the oil and filter on our 2006 pacifica (purchased new), i noticed the start of rust-through on the engine cradle/subframe. this is a design flaw because the subframe rusted primarily from the inside. due to visible rust, every two years i have wire brushed the accessible parts of the subframe and applied an automotive undercoater. i plan to contact chrysler about this but would appreciate knowing if they have made any accommodation to other 2006 pacifica owners for this problem. *js

Rust issue on front engine cradle. my mechanic told me that i had a badly corroded engine cradle. we bought the car used and it just turned 71k miles. dealer denied the recall, there is a small window of vehicles manufactured between feb.23, 2004 and march 31,2004, a pretty small window. a couple of calls to chrysler customer assistance has fallen on deaf ears. the dealer and chrysler are not budging. it is the principle of a design problem that chrysler is not fully standing behind. for reference, the chrysler warranty bulletin is no:d-10-34 dated march 16, 2012. subject is listed as (x26) front engine cradle extended warranty 2004-2005 chrysler pacifica's. we have a 2006 and have the same issue and chrysler needs to recall all of the models affected! i have 2 children and a wife and we depend on this vehicle. mechanic states it is not safe to drive!!!! i cannot get any explanation as to quite why that is from chrysler despite numerous contacts with the customer care people from chrysler and/or dealership. i have never seen any type of damage such as this. what needs to be done to fix this problem? thank you for your help. *tr

Like other early model chrysler pacificas noted on the nhtsa site- my vehicle was taken into for an oil change and the shop informed me the car was unsafe to drive due to the engine cradle/ subframe being rusted/rotted out so badly you could see through it. they said that if a large enough bump was rolled over, the engine could fall out and a serious accident could occur as the vehicle would more than likely lose control. i am now afraid to allow my wife and 2 small children to drive in it for extended periods of time. i purchased the vehicle used for roughly $10,000 less than a year prior to learning about this safety issue from a chrysler used and new car dealer-bryden motors in beloit, wi. i also purchased an $2000 extended warranty on the vehicle, which of course something like this is not covered in such a plan. i believe the damage was there prior to purchase and the dealer either failed to inform me, or didn't perform a well cared for inspection prior to the sale. upon taking the vehicle back to the dealer-they said it was too far out from the original warranty and nothing could be done. they did take pictures and send to the chrysler "imaging department" where the manufacturer defect claim i asked for them to place for me was immediately denied for coverage. i will be reaching out to chrysler and the local media if necessary. this is a well known and serious safety concern with the pacifica model and due to the expense involved to fix (was told between $2500-$5000) absolutely ruins the value of the vehicle less than a year after purchase from what i though was a reputable dealer and a reputable brand such as chrysler. this is my 4rd chrysler/dodge vehicle i have owned in the past 19 years, and if the matter is not resolved, it will ultimately be my last. *tr

Rust issue on front engine cradle i am from south charleston, wv resident and recently discovered through my dealers mechanic that i had a badly corroded engine cradle. we bought the car used and it just turned 100k miles. dealer denied the recall, there is a small window of vehicles manufactured between feb.23, 2004 and march 31,2004, a pretty small window. a couple of calls to chrysler customer assistance has fallen on deaf ears. the dealer and chrysler are not budging. it is not the money, it is the principle of a design problem that chrysler is not fully standing behind. for reference, the chrysler warranty bulletin is no:d-10-34 dated march 16, 2012. subject is listed as (x26) front engine cradle extended warranty 2004-2005 chrysler pacifica's. we have a 2006 and have the same issue and chrysler needs to recall all of the models affected! i have 3 children and a wife and we depend on this vehicle. only had it one year and couldn't get it pass the 1st inspection due to the rusted out cracked engine cradle. mechanic states it is not safe to drive!!!! i cannot get any explanation as to quite why that is from chrysler despite numerous contacts with the customer care people from chrysler and/or dealership. apparently my best hope is that if i pay for the repair myself i might get a refund later if chrysler decides to expand the group of covered vehicles. help us please thank you *tr

During a routine oil change, a mechanic informed me that there was severe rust (50%) to the support system holding up the engine on the passengers side. the car only has 84,000 miles. he said that it is a very dangerous situation, that, if not repaired, would eventually break way and the engine would drop out of the support system. when i contacted chrysler care, the intake operator basically read from a script and stated that my vehicle wasn't covered in the recall, even though the same part was affected, and that there was nothing that they could do to assist me. after doing some research online, i found over 700 other complaints about the same issue. this is the third chrysler that i have owned (and my second pacifica) with 100% satisfaction until this point. unless chrysler deals with this issue to my satisfaction and my safety is they first concern, i will never own another chrysler product again. i have taken pictures of the part in question and intend to pursue this issue until it is fixed! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while having routine maintenance performed on the vehicle, he was notified that the sub-frame was completely corroded and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 130,000.

Brought my car in for an oil change and mentioned it's been idling high. they called back s few hours later and told me the subframe on front of vehicle was severely corroded. it was a safety issue that needed repair and quoted me $4000.00 to repair!!!! this is a michigan made car and should not be corroding so quickly! i bought this car used with ~10,000miles on it. only parked in garage. i called chrysler and they admitted that there is a problem with the 2004 &2005 model (and they extended the warranty on them). but they say there is nothing they can do about the 2006 model. they recommended i submit a complaint on this website. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer for routine maintenance when the mechanic discovered that the engine cradle was severely rusted on the passenger's side. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 155,000.

While working on my 2006 chrysler pacifica i noticed an actual hole rotted through the front sub frame. i started to check on-line and found this to be a wide spread problem. this is a serious safety concern i use this vehicle to drive my children in. chrysler refuses to do anything or acknowledge a manufacturing defect. *tt

After having $1600.00 of front end work on my vehicle the mechanic informed me that i should get rid of this car because the sub frame is severely rotted and not safe. this sub frame supports the whole engine and if it fails the engine will collapse to the ground. this vehicle has been well taken care of and there is no rot at all on any other part of the car. i've researched this vehicle and there was a recall for the 2004 and 2005 models. i've read hundreds of complaints about the same problems with these vehicles made in every year not just 2004-2005. i've contacted chrysler and they say no help is available. it is defective steel that was used and i've had much older cars that the frame hasn't rotted through and i feel it's a deadly accident waiting to happen. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that she took the vehicle into the dealer for regular maintenance and was informed that the subframe had corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 89,800. updated 06/09/2014*lj the consumer stated a week after repairs were made to the vehicle it began experiencing drifting, squealing/loud grinding noise. the dealer did not find any failure with the vehicle. updated 06/12/2014 *js

Took vehicle in for servicing. dealer called back stating the front cradle - sub frame is rusted through to a dangerous point and the vehicle needs to be taken off the road. i subsequently determined that the 2004 and 2005 pacifica vehicles had the same problem and that chrysler extended the warranty for many in "salt states" to 10 years and 150,000 miles. chrysler refused to accept liability for the 2006 even though it is the same problem. the front cradle is what holds your transmission and engine in the car. i am pursing daimler, chrysler and fiat for a refund of the monies i spent to fix this. my car has always been very well maintained and has less than 120,000 miles on it of greater importance to me. current 2006 pacifica owners need to be advised of this issue as they are driving very good looking vehicles that may pose an extreme hazard to them and others on the roadway i am asking the nhtsa to take immediate action against chrysler to ensure warnings are sent to current owners. chrysler needs to step up to the plate on this rust issue. the same issue as was found in earlier pacifica models. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the motor bracket and the motor mounts fractured. as a result, the engine was mounted on top of the starter and ignited a fire. there were no injuries and a police report was filed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 115,000.

Vehicle inspected on 08/22/2013, found engine cradle rusted through also unitized body support structure under outer rocker cover is crumbling in large flakes. vehicle owned since new, had rear tailgate rust repaired under warranty a few years back. vehicle major component unitized body structurally unsound. vehicle cannot be sold to general public without disclosure, body structural integrity is compromised. *tr

The subframe of my 06 chrysler pacifica is rusting and my mechanic and chrysler dealer both explained that this is very unusual for a car that is only seven years old. the estimated cost to fix this is $1051.70. *tr

during a routine inspection of our vehicle the mechanic stated vehicle was in perfect condition except that the subframe (engine cradle) had a one foot section that was completely rusted through. he also stated that since the vehicle had only 76000 miles on it that this should not be occurring. other mechanics in that shop concurred. chrysler had, in the previous two model years (04 & 05), extended the warranties to 10 years/150,000 miles (chrysler document 0004817/#45543/x26) accepting responsibility for a faulty product and covering the expenses incurred by consumer making their vehicles roadworthy and safe. this is truly a safety issue that has not been resolved by the manufacturer as this component supports the engine and front suspension/steering assemblies. calls to chrysler have not been productive. i do not understand their reluctance to address a safety issue that they have addressed in the past. problem has not changed just the model year. hopefully the nhtsa can initiate a safety recall to address this. there are similar complaints concerning this on this site. does there have to be a serious accident before something is done? *tr

The vehicle was purchased june 11, 2013 and had the rear passenger tire replaced due to unfix-able flat tire. the dealer had me take vehicle to peerless tires co. the tire was replaced with wrong size and different brand of tire. traveling during thunderstorm approximately 3,5 weeks after purchasing vehicle; the computer appeared to lock when vehicle slipped on pavement as awd attempted to engage causing loss of steering and power then skidded off the road. i made claim through my insurance and had vehicle inspected by local shop, and i had my mechanic look to see if damage to vehicle was noticeable was not handling correctly after accident. when accelerates or decelerates the vehicle will lunge forward. took vehicle to peerless tire co. after mechanic pointed out the wrong size and model of tire on rear passenger side of vehicle. after accepting fault wanted to take vehicle to [xxx] paint and body to pay for the repairs. when the estimate was being done and vehicle was on lift...[xxx] and mechanic pointed out the whole motor carriage had completely rusted out and corroded. they had not seen anything like it. took vehicle back to dealer and explained this issue. had to go ahead with insurance claim and wait for adjustors to determine fault of accident.the vehicle is totally unsafe to drive, feels like the engine is tipping forward when accelerating or decelerating. after researching this issue im shocked and appalled that 2 previous model years have same issues which are not being addressed for the 2006. i don't want this vehicle repaired i want out from under it, since it was sold unsafe and is a recurring problem even after having motor mounts replaced and undercarriage treated or replaced. i expect more from mopar period. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that he took the vehicle to the dealer for an oil change but was informed that the sub frame was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,947. updated 10/31/13*cn the consumer was advised the vehicle had extensive rust through and a cracked front sub frame, severe rocker panel rust and brake line rust. a service manager informed the consumer that it is not required/permitted to inform the vehicle's owner of necessary repairs. updated 11/1/2013 *js

The subframe in the front of the vehicle , also referred to as the engine cradle was rusted away to such an extent that it would not pass our state safety inspection . it is in fact the core structure to which the engine, transmission and entire front suspension are fastened and which holds them all in place. to protect myself against this sort of catastrophe i purchased chrysler's 8/80 maximum care plan for $1365.00 in july of 2008 when i bought the pacifica. my pacifica was still well within that warranty with only 77382 miles and with the warranty due to expire 03/ 26 / 2014 when to my utter surprise and shock, chrysler refused to cover any of the repair or even replacement parts ! this is a clear breach of contract and theft of my premiums. now i find that this has been a chronic defect in all previous pacifica model years , and chrysler has gotten away with endangering it's hapless customers without being held accountable to the point of robbing legitimate warranty holders twice. taking our money for their guarantees in the first place and then making us pay fully for the huge repairs they were supposed to cover but flatly refused to . i want to be reimbursed for the entire repair bill from july, 2013 - or - at least have my $1365.00 returned to me in full !! *tr

During a routine inspection and oil change an automotive technician identified that the engine cradle (aka sub-frame) was severely corroded. the vehicle was examined by two other auto technicians and both confirmed that the engine cradle is corroded and that the vehicle is unsafe to operate. the vehicle is considered a safety hazard to both its passengers and other vehicles operating in the vicinity. the vehicle is considered to have zero resale value unless this is repaired. parts for this vehicle have been ordered and repair is schedule to occur within 10 days. estimated cost for repair is $4,000. a review of the nhtsa database for this model year vehicle indicates 6 complaints of an identical nature filed within the last 12 months. similar searches of other websites confirm that this is an evolving problem. pacifica models years 2004 and 2005 have well documented issues relative to corroded engine cradles and both model years have been recalled as a result. it is highly probable that the frequency of reported corroded engine cradles will increase as these vehicles age. a serious accident or injury may be the outcome in situations where this problem remains unchecked. this issue warrants additional investigation as it is becoming apparent that the problem encountered in the 2004 and 2005 models years is also surfacing in the 2006 model year. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while the vehicle was being inspected, the front sub frame was found to be severely corroded in the engine carriage area. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 99,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the engine frame failed. the contact notice brown water was releasing from the engine area. the contact inspected the vehicle and found the engine frame corroded with holes due to defective material. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to have the engine frames replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 84,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while the vehicle was being serviced for an unrelated recall, it was discovered that the front subframe was severely corroded. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. on another occasion, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to have an oil change. it was discovered that the engine was detaching due to the severe corrosion of the front subframe. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the front subframe and cross member were rusted. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the engine cradle needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that while the vehicle on, there was a fuel odor and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, there was smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the rear, the lower front, and the front upper motor mounts needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,000.

On march 20th 2012 i was driving home from work when the driver side strut mount broke, slightly allowing the strut to damage my hood and break my inner tie rod end. i immediately parked the vehicle called aaa and had it towed to my house. on march 23 i purchased a new strut mount and on the 24th replaced the broken one with the new one. unfortunately i did the work myself and didn't notice my inner tie rod broke. which led to my vehicle needing to be checked by my mechanic about 8 months later when my outer tie rod end gave way damaging in the process the wheel bearings and the driver side axle. i had everything fixed and ran into no more problems until july 17th 2013 when my front end alignment started to slip and a noticeable knocking noise started coming from my front end. i immediately set up an appointment to have my vehicle serviced at kelly chrysler dealership in lehigh valley and they were able to get me in a week later. it took them roughly a week to fix my car. but they replaced my upper engine mount, front lower engine mount, l/f inner outer tie rod ends and removed a damaged exhaust shield. but they still couldn't' tell me why my alignment was off and what the knocking noise was. towards the end of august my passenger side strut mount broke and i had it replaced right away. then again in november this time completely ripping through the hood. then again in february, march and now today 5/7/2014 i noticed the passenger side strut mount is on the verge of breaking again. after speaking to a couple of pacifica owners in my area i have come to find out these problems are common along with engine shut offs and check engine lights being on for no reason. its apparent that the 3/8th inch thick plate that the struts sit on are not adequate enough to handle the weight of the vehicles along with the constant jerking motion off the car from the sticky gas peddle. *tr

My 2006 pacifica engine cradle has been rusting for several years and now needs replaced. i called chrysler a year ago. this is a common problem with pacificas. this is a safety issue and a structural defect. *tr

When i had my car in to fix a front end problem last year i was told two of the three motor mounts need to be replaced. now when having a tie rod replaced i am told subframe brackets are rotted and need to be replaced. a car that is five years old should not be rotting from normal driving. engine mounts on a car should not go after four years.

2006 chrysler pacifica motor mounts broken. i have three friends that have the exact year/make/model vehicle and have experience the same issue. please read this link: http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chrysler-pacifica/t30gsb0b4ude6j4o5 i would be very surprised if these vehicles are not recalled for this problem. *tr

I bought a 2006 chrysler pacifica. it has been in the shop 3 times now since i go it a year ago. the first two times were for the same thing. it was a rod and lifters. this last time, i was driving down the highway and all of the sudden my wheels turned to the side and then my car skidded to a stop as my tires turned sideways.! i could have been killed as my car was not controllable and almost flipped over. i was told by the tow truck driver that the rocker arm broke causing the drive shaft to fall then the axel broke. the tow truck driver as well as the mechanic at the dealership said that this should not have happened. *tr
