Rotted out engine cradle vibration when driving..no help from chrysler...cant drive car,,still paying on it...need help. *tr

I took my car in for a simple oil change. the mechanic told me the engine cradle is so rusted that he can stick his finger through it. he said it was dangerously close to rusting through to the point where my engine could fall out of the vehicle!

My 2006 chrysler pacifica cradle is rusting out and the dealership that changed my oil said it is very dangerous to drive. i was also told by them that the 2004 and 2005 chrysler pacifica had recalls on this same issue but not the 2006. when i called chrysler up to report this issue they told me that my vin # is not on the recall and can not do anything about it. but as i read on here chrysler should know about this issue. i have my grandson in my car a lot of the time and i hope and pray nothing happens to either one of us while i am driving this car. i can not afford to get this fixed because it is very expensive to repair. *tr

We took our 2006 chrysler pacific in for a repair. the mechanic called to report the engine cradle is severly rusted and unsafe to drive. before this we noted some "clunking" in the front end but thought it was a suspension issue. we did not know that this vehicle had this engine cradle problem until the mechanic put the vehicle on the lift. we are face with a very costly repair because the vehicle is unsafe and essentially worthless. the mechanic said without warning the engine could have came loose and impeaded the ability to steer or brake. if we were on the highway we probably would have lost control and crashed.

My subframe is totally rusted out. is very dangerous. ten year old car, 100,000 miles. is very big risk driving it with my kids in ithe car. thank you *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while at a dealer for inspection, the technician stated that the engine cradle had corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 150,000.

The subframe of the vechile has corrosion. and is unsafe to drive. there are other complaints but i'm looking to see if has a recall.

Brought car in for repair and the shop would not even lift the car up due to the sub frame being in such poor shape. they advised me to call the dealership to see if there are any open recalls for the issue. upon calling the dealership they let me know that as there are not any open recalls on this they do keep the engine cradle in stock as this is a very common issue. the part alone is almost $2,000.00 and not even sure what the labor would be as of yet. as far as the rest of the complaints go looks as it will be over a $3,000.00 fix. i have found out from the dealship that the previous years have been recalled for the same issue.

My engine cradle is almost rusted thru and my subframe is as well

Sub frame which holds the engine has rusted through i several locations. engine could "drop" at anytime while drive the car. 2005 models currently have a recall for the same issue.

Entered the freeway and after reaching speed of approximately 55-60 mph i heard a loud sound that sounded like a small explosion. someone driving in the lane next to me began frantically pointing at the engine of my car. immediately i saw smoke and flames coming from underneath the car's hood. i pulled off the exit that i was approaching, parked the car at the curb, jumped out the car, dialed 911. fire department responded in a couple of minutes and by this time entire engine and hood was on fire.they put the fire out. car was not able to be placed in neutral or any other gear, but was still towed to the dealership that performed repairs to fuel injectors and other components of the engine on february 2, 2016. during feb. 2016 incident the gas pedal would not give power to make the car accelerate, car started smoking and giving off fumes that smelled like burning plastic. car repairs were made in that incident. going to have diagnostic performed to research if there is a connection/relation between february 2016 incident and june 2016 incident.

Vehicle had cradle rot requiring complete replacement of the assembly. had brought the vehicle to a local nechanic to do some routine maintenance. mechanic observed the rust/rot and was told that it was so severe that he would not allow me to drive the vehicle home because if the cradle broke completely through the engine would drop to the street rendering the vehicle 'totaled'

Takata recall car has only 70,000 miles on it, brand new tires and is in good shape, except for rust on the subframe and motor cradle! we have found out recently that there is many of these 2006 chrysler pacificas that have the same problem. we have been told that we can not drive the car as the motor will fall out! it is very bad! we feel that you owe us a explanation and or a settlement on this car! we had to buy another car that is not in our budget! we are seniors and think that this is totally wrong! we have also talked to the state of illinois on complaints and we have talked to the chrysler dealership and to no avail! please help us! thank you *tr

I have a 2006 chrysler pacifica with 70,000 miles. was inspecting the exhaust system around the muffler and happened to notice some excessive rust on the sub frame and upon further looking i went to the front of the vehicle and noticed the motor cradle and where the motor cradle connects with the passenger side of the sub frame there were enormous amount of decay and corrosion on the motor cradle and splitting in the sub frame. i believe that there was a serious over look and neglect in not treating the sub frame with some sort of anti corrosive at time of assembly at the factory by chrysler.the car was manufactured on september 2005.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact noticed that the subframe was rusted. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the subframe needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 157,000.

The engine cradle is rusted out making this car extremely unsafe to drive. this car has been maintained throughout its life and is in excellent shape otherwise. however, the cost to replace the cradle has been quoted at $2500.00.

Front sub-frame has such severe rust that the car will no longer be able to pass a nys safety inspection.

Well known issue with 2006 chrysler pacificas, the engine cradle rusts due to poor build and design. the car becomes unsafe to drive due to the possibility of the engine falling out of the car. also will not pass an inspection. there is a class action lawsuit regarding this issue. chrysler will not issue a recall. this is a safety issue! i have to keep putting "band-aids" on this just so i can continue to drive my car.

Brought our 2006 pacifica in for a routine oil change and tire repair. was told the subframe has rotted away. our mechanic said he personally would not too many miles on the car and the repairs would cost anywhere from $3,000 - $5,000.

Subframe rot by the engine area. this is only on the passenger side. the drivers side is fine. i've read about legal action towards chrysler regarding premature rotting and corroding for this car.

When we bought the car not 11 months ago we were never told about any structural damage. a week ago we noticed a bad thumping as we were driving, so we took it to a car shop and that's when they found over 4 inches of rust on both sides of the engine cradle and they told us it was unsafe to drive.

The engine frame is rusting out. the rest of the frame is completely fine, but now i need to have the engine cradle completely replaced.

The engine mounts have broken, and been replaced, and broke again. the floorboard, has rusted through on the drivers side, and the frame is rusting out. the suspension is breaking and has now blow out 2 tires. the electrical panel /dash, doesn't work and causes other problems. i don't live by salt water and have been informed that this is not a new problem with this make/model. gas fumes come up through the floorboard, and i have been dealing with this since i took it off of the dealership. i am a single mom of 3,and am not finding help from anyone. can you please help me?

After having my oil change mechanic show me the frame on my pacifica 4 large holes in engine mount frame from rust.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while inspecting the vehicle, the mechanic stated that the subframe was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 138,000.

Yesterday had new tires put on the car and the mechanic said, i need you to come see this. i looked and saw my frame rusting through. there was a report on tv on this 2 years ago. seeing hundreds of complaints on line about this exact same problem! what will it take for a recall? when is this government organization going to care? isn't that what this is set up for? this isn't just a hand full of complaints.

The center bearing/drive shaft is no good. i prepaid the dealer in march of 2016 for a new one. as of today sep 18, 2006 it ha not come in yet. the car is undriveable. excuse after excuse. i have notified the mass attorney generals office. there investigation. i also have a rotted sub frame. and the dealer wont stand behind it. i am looking to start or join a class action suit against chrysler.

During an inspection of the car, it was observed that severe corrosion of the engine cradle has occurred. the corrosion is severe enough that it was recommended that the car not be driven. on the internet i note that there were recalls (or repairs) by chrysler for 2005 model year cars but not 2006. the car is in excellent shape except for this cradle mount corrosion. i now have to repair the car for a cost that is more than the car is worth, or replace the pacifica with equivalent for much more money. chrysler should do something about this issue. obviously, more than the 2005 cars are involved. according to the internet, there have been many reports of this problem

I went in to get my oil changed in my 2006 chrysler pacifica that i've only had a year and a half the mechanic came out and got me to show me that our subframe and the rocker panels are all rusted out and he told me he didn't know how long it would last until the engine and the transmission and everything would fall out if the subframe would break why we were driving down the road he said you might want to get it checked out and so i took it and got it checked out and they told me that it would be up to $2500 to get it fixed if they didn't find anything else wrong why they were fixing it.

The engine cradle is rusting through. the engine could fall out to the ground. i noticed this around the 12th of february 2016.

After encountering multiple problems involving front suspension, motor mounts, power steering components and uneven tire wear the dealer informed us the sub frame assembly was rusted through and needed to be replaced. this assembly has steering and suspension mounted to it, as well as serves as the cradle for the engine. after contacting the manufacturer they stated this vehicle was not included in the recall or extended warranty offered by chrysler and they would provide no further assistance.

One side of my engine mount is rusting out badly as well. would be nice to have a recall to repair this issue. i also have idling issues in which it seems like the car is going to die whether it's in park or drive. this has been going on for quite while now.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for minor maintenance. the mechanic noticed that the passenger side frame that supported the engine was rusted. the mechanic advised that the frame needed to be repaired or the engine would fall off. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there were no recalls. the failure was not remedied. the failure mileage was 97,000.

While traveling i had some alignment issues with my car, i brought it to a chrysler dealership service area to make certain the car was safe to drive home to connecticut. while i was told it will be fine to make it home, my subframe will need to be replaced due to rust. as i researched this, i see that this has been an issue with the pacifica 2004-2006 models. below are the statements from service: 1. sub-frame badly rusted reported 12/31/2015 by chrysler service easton, md 2. front sub-frame nearly broken 01/02/2016 by town fair tire, hamden, ct.

On 12/4/15 we took our 2006 chrysler pacifica for an oil change. when we picked up the vehicle the mechanic at the dealership explained to us that the subframe that holds the engine of the vehicle in place is rusted and will not pass annual pa inspection without being replaced. we were quoted an amount of $2,009.28 for just the parts to replace the rusted subframe. this did not include any labor. the vehicle only has 73,000 miles on it and has been garage kept since the day it was bought brand new in 2006. after some extensive research, this seems to be a common problem in 2004-2008 chrysler pacifica vehicles. i contacted chrysler concerning this issue due to the safety concern this poses for myself and my family as well as the fact that this should not be happening to a vehicle that is less than 10 years old and garage kept. the contact at chrysle acknowledged that this is a problem, but that our vehicle was not covered under a warranty that chrysler issued for 2004-2005 pacificas. i find it completely irresposible of chrysler to deny fixing this issue when they are well aware that they did not provide enough coating of this part while manufacturing this vehicle. i have a picture of the damage but have been unable to attach it to this form. if we attempt to fix the issue with the vehicle, we will be putting more money into the vehicle than what it is worth and if we try to trade in the vehicle, we will not be given the value of the vehicle due to the required costly repair to pass inspection. please do something about this as chrysler needs to be held responsible for their failure to manufacture a safe vehicle.

The vehicle was stationary going through an inspection when it was determined that the sub frame, engine cradle is rotted to the point that it is unsafe to drive. the vehicle is less than 10 years old and around 100,000 miles. that is around 10k miles per year. the vehicle looks and runs great otherwise. if they know that it is a problem that places lives at risk, why don't they do the right thing and correct the problem.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the subframe was corroded. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the subframe needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 85,000. updated 06/17/16*lj

Engine cradle rusted and is unsafe to drive i called chrysler they said too bad for me i have to pay for all repairs.

Original owner of a 2006 pacifica (85000 miles)...on october 16, 2015, i drove the vehicle to the chrysler dealer where it was purchased and has been regularly maintained for a routine scheduled oil change and multi-point inspection (no check engine light message triggered the visit.) in the process of returning me the keys and directing me to the cashier, the service advisor mentioned that a part known as a "front cross member" would need to be replaced due to rust/corrosion spotted on the inspection with estimated cost of repair at $1862 for the part and $644 for the labor (estimated time to complete the repair at 5.6 hours). the service advisor made mention that failure to do the repair could result in the engine falling out. upon returning home, i googled "pacifica frame rust" and discovered this problem is widespread. i learned there is a class-action lawsuit in ohio involving this issue with motions and rulings relatively fresh with a judge named "donald c. nugent" hearing the case with the first name of plaintiff named being "holland et al" and the defendant in the suit being named "fca" as in fiat chrysler. from information i have gathered online, i have discovered that engine-cradle rot is a serious problem for the chrysler pacifica. chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the engine's sub-frame during assembly, but thus far has only offered to cover under warranty only a very small portion of the vehicles (approx 7000 in a november 9, 2010 technical service bulletin). later, on march 16, 2012, fiatchrysler issued a new technical service bulletin superceding the previous tsb stating the engine cradle defect and extended warranty applied only to 2004-05 pacificas in canada and salt belt states manufactured in a six week window in 2004. this means approx 300000 pacificas are dangerous and in need of repair mine included.

Front sub frame rust through. was told frame could crack or break causing loss of control of car. needs $3,100.00 repair at chrysler dealer to make safe..

Took car in for oil change, mechanic told me that the engine cradle was showing some pretty severe rust issues. was told that i would have to repair this soon, or risk having the engine drop out of the enclosing compartment. repair estimated at $4500, which at this point is more than the car is worth. contacted chrysler, they said that there is no recall on this problem, so i was responsible for all repairs. some research on the internet shows that this is a known and pretty widespread problem. sorry to see that a company that i helped bail out a few years ago, doesn't stand by their product.

Took to mechanic to replace links in wheels. mechanic informed me of the rusted through subframe. i don't wanna be driving down the road then all the sudden my engine falls out. only transportation i have.

Engine cradle has rusted thru. mechanic has suggested i not drive vehicle for my safety. spoke with someone at chrysler who indicated that there was a safety bulletin issued acknowledging and addressing the issue, but that the year of my vehicle was not included in the safety bulletin. vehicle was purchased used from a chrysler dealership.

Upon regular maintenance, the auto mechanic discovered my 2006 pacifica engine cradle frame is totally rusted out. he advised me the cost of repair is so high that it is not worth to repair. he further required me to acknowledge that my car is not safe to drive. this is very unusual to have a subframe rusted though the whole metal frame since the car was always kept in maryland, we hardly have any snow in the last 10 years. from the search on the internet, it turns out that this subframe problem affected was common in many pacifica on the road. we felt fortunate that the engine has not dropped on the ground and lead to a fatal crash. why there is not recall on these pacificas .

My 2006 pacifica cradle, carrage, rockers, or whatever the correct name... underneath is rotted out. i got new tires for the vehicle and when i went to sears auto center to have them installed is when the news was broken to me about the issue. they told me that the compartment holding the engine is rusting out bad and could result in the motor falling out. it was so bad that they didn't align the tires because they didn't want to be held responsible. i drove the vehicle back to the dealer i purchased the vehicle and explained the issue. their response was this is a buy here pay here and the vehicle was as is no warranty so their not responsible. wow....was my response.... so i followed up by calling the dealer about the issue... but they don't have a recall on the vehicle frame issue for 2006 but only for certain vehicles in 2005.... now if that ain't just blow my mind...only thing i could do was file a complaint and hope enough people do too for it to be a chance for recall... now i don't think that's fair that i done purchased this vehicle as a family vehical with a rusted frame and there's nothing that's being done to fix this issue. this is a $3000 fix out of pocket which is not fair.

The cradle rusted through on the right side of the vehicle. was discovered during an oil change.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the independent mechanic discovered that the entire subframe was corroded and rusted. the contact was informed that the vehicle was not safe to operate. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 76,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for a routine oil check, the technician noticed that the front end frame that held the engine was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 102,000. the vin was not available.

My regular automobile service company recently completed a repair and replacement of the front brake components on my 2006 chrysler pacifica. upon routine inspection of the vehicle's undercarriage, they identified severe corrosion of the "engine cradle". they advised that engine cradle was in very poor condition and that failure was likely in the near future causing the engine to drop out of the vehicle. i immediately contacted the chrysler/dodge dealership where i purchased the car. they told me that they were aware of a problem with the engine cradles in that model year pacifica, but that there currently was no recall to correct the problem. i was quoted $3,000.00 to replace the engine cradle, which i can not afford. my complaint is that if this is a safety issue, why is there no recall or any other apparent effort to correct the problem? the vehicle is in otherwise good shape and runs well, but i am afraid of driving it, concerned that my family or i could be seriously injured. can you assist me?

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken for routine maintenance, the mechanic at the dealer stated that there was severe rust on the entire sub frame of the vehicle. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 105,000. updated 09/18/15*lj *cn
