We have classified the 92 complaints from 2005 Chrysler Pacifica about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica with 126k miles. i recently had my tires rotated and it was noticed that i had significant rusting on the right front subframe. the frame is not a moving part and should not wear out with a normal life expectancy of the car. they stated it is unsafe to drive and recommended replacement. i called chrysler today and my vehicle is not covered even though there has been an extended warranty on some vehicles. i was disappointed that they said there is nothing they can do. i pointed out to the customer service rep that there a lot of complaints noted online and on this site. she said my information was noted and if i got the vehicle fixed to keep the receipt in case the extended warranty is broadened. i hope chrysler looks into this further. *tr

My 2005 chrysler pacifica is unsafe to drive due to the front sub-frame/engine cradle completely rusted through. this problem seems to be happening to several pacifica owners all over. this is truley a faulty device which chrysler should recall on and fix or cover the cost to fix this problem. *tr
I have been made aware of severe corrosion and rust of the frame and cross member of this vehicle. it has been properly maintained and serviced. on researching this problem on the internet. it appears that this is not an isolated incident but a common problem for pacifica. chrysler has service bulletins advising service personal to look for this problem. there has not been a recall and as a result they will not assist in the repair of this vehicle. i feel that it is a product flaw and should be addressed by chrysler. much like the rusting problem with the toyota tundra trucks. this vehicle was in ma from 2005 to 2011 and now is in fl. *tr
Working on the car notice the subframe is rusted thru on ths passenger side. there are many issue logged in on the internet with this particular defect. it is my understanding there is a recall for certain vins. my vehicle was built on aug 20, 2004. after contacting chrysler they say the car is covered under a extended warranty. my problem is if i hadn't looked under the car this issue may have led to a catastrophic failure. *tr

My very well kept 2005 pacifica failed inspection at my local mechanic due to a completely rotted cross member frame. substantial rotting in multiple spots. many holes. took car to chrysler dealer and they inspected car and told me they had never seen a worse frame. quoted me in writing, $5779.98 to repair!!! opened a case with chrysler to find out if they would do anything for me. yea right. they even went as far as to say the dealer said they only gave me a parts list, not a quote. liars! said it was normal wear and tear in new york. cars built from 2/23/04-3/31/04 were given an extension to 150,000 miles warranty for such problem. chrysler knows about this problem and are not taking responsibility for it. needs to be a recall! i am going to repair with used cross member for 1500.00 and i'm selling it afterwards. do not want any part of chrysler again! *tr

Experiencing a vibration/shaking in the front end of the vehicle. brought the vehicle to my local mechanic and it was discovered that the k-frame assembly that holds the engine is completely rotted out. my mechanic advised me that this is a serious safety issue and should be covered by a recent tsb put out by chrysler on 3/16/12, number 13-001-12. however, upon reading the tsb, it only covers those vehicles made from 2/23/04 - 3/31/04. my vehicle was manufactured in may 2004. i called chrysler directly and they told me because i was the third owner of the vehicle and they didn't know how the vehicle was treated and because of the high mileage, they would not assist me in any way. i filed a report with the nh attorney general's office. i then received a phone call from chrysler's claims investigation division. they offered to pay for one part which cost $1,550 (front cross member). i did not accept her offer as the cost to repair my vehicle in full with all necessary parts and labor totals $2,362.07. my claim was then referred to the chrysler business center who would make a final decision as to whether or not they would repair my vehicle. i emphasized that this was deemed a safety issue by my mechanic. i also spoke with a local chrysler service center and they informed me that they had seen 6 of these same repairs on my exact vehicle within the past 12 months and that this should be deemed a recall through the manufacturer. on september 24, 2012, i received a copy of a letter from chrysler to the nh attorney general's office stating that my vehicle was "purchased used and is beyond any warranty on the vehicle. as such chrysler group llc will not be participating in any repair consideration. *tr

Front sub-frame found significantly rusted, complete perforation on the passenger side for almost 6 inches, several holes on the drivers side. vehicle will not pass pa state safety inspection. chrysler says nothing they can do because of mileage, dealer says it is not their fault as it is a factory defect. left with an unsafe, illegal vehicle after only 2 car payments. *tr
Brought the car in for oil change and mechanic noticed the rust thru the frame. we contacted a local dealer and they would not cover the defect. i did hear that chrysler knows of the issue and has extended vehicle warranties to 150,000 miles and repaired the frame damage. how do i get this repaired? this should be recalled for safety issue. *tr

The engine cradle is corroding away, there is a large split in one side. chrysler has issued a safety recall for the same year, make and model cars for this known defect. however even though my car has the very same defect its particular vin is not included. *tr
Took the car to local chrysler dealer (bournival chrysler jeep, york, me) for annual inspection. was told car could not be inspected because the front cross member had rusted through in spots.(car had been inspected at the same facility a year ago and no problem was found) the problem was confirmed by an independent mechanic. car has 91,500 miles. i have read of chrysler offering a 10-year, 100,000 warranty on this problem but neither the service manager nor nhtsa could confirm. there are dozens of instances of this problem, both in the united states and canada listed on edmunds (http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0ec024/258). this is a dangerous situation that should be cleared up by chrysler. *tr

I originally replaced the motor mounts on this vehicle in august of 2011. i am having to replace them for the second time now, january 2015 (mileage 215,000). i should not have to replace motor mounts more than one time in the lifetime of the vehicle. i have had the vehicle properly maintained by the same mechanic for several years. *tr
I bought this vehicle in 2011. when i brought to my mechanic for an oil change he told me my subframe (engine cradle) was severely rusted and corroded and that i probably wouldn't make it through the winter...the part cost around $1200. alone without labor. i tried to save up the money but we just couldn't do it and within the past couple months my mechanic has informed me that my car is not safe to drive until it is fixed. he also advise to check for a recall and to call chrysler and see what they say to do. they say there was a service bulletin for that matter of the defective part but only for the month of feb 04-march 04 and mine was made in june 04 and that my car even though it has the same issue is exempt from the replacement part. so i am paying for a car that is not safe to drive because of a defective part that chrysler refuses to help me with. it is not from normal wear and tear this car only had 62k miles on it when i had purchased it and my first oil change came at 65k miles when the problem was first noticed. after researching the internet i found multiple complaints of the exact same thing. i contacted the attorney general and they tried their best to help but because my car was 7 years old it was out of the warranty technically even though i still have only about 80k miles on it. i was told to make a complaint on here in hopes of possibly joining others to where there may end up having a recall on this part seeing my car is not safe to drive at all. *tr
My 2005 chrysler pacifica's built in july 2004 subframe (engine cradle) is rusting through a lot. i have read numerous complaints about this issue and feel that there should have been a recall on this component. i don't think that this part should fail after being only a few years old and 65000 miles and being driven under normal driving conditions. in my opinion this component could possibly result in an engine falling out of it's seat and possibly cause a crash. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle he noticed that the sub-frame had a fist size hole that has completely covered with rust. upon driving at low speeds he noticed that the engine would shake as if it were going to fall out of the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified and advised him that they would not offer any assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 137,000.

I was having my vehicle inspected and was informed that my engine cradle was rusting through. i checked out the problem on line and found out that this is a recognized problem with 2004 pacifica's and that chrysler has offered an extended warranty due to manufactures defect. however there is only a one month period (in-service date) that applies to the warranty. you can put your fist through the engine cradle. engine vibrates and we are concerned that it will fall out of the car and kill someone. we wont let our kids drive it anymore and cant afford to replace it. it is apparent that this is a common safety problem that could result in serious injury and chrysler not only made no attempt to contact buyers, but also fails to accept responsibility for the manufactures defect. please do your jobs and protect us from this obvious defect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2005 chrysler pacifica. consumer states extensive unibody rust on vehicle *tgw an auto body expert informed the consumer the rust was coming from the inside of the uniside rocker panel and both unisides needed to be replaced. *jb
I went to a local service/repair facility and was told that the front motor mount on my 2005 chrysler pacifica needs to be replaced. upon some research on-line, i noticed that this is a common problem with this vehicle. *tr
We purchased our 2005 chrysler pacifica in may 2005. after driving about 15,000 miles we started to notice a clunking sound when cornering while braking, or starting out from a stopped position. we went back to the dealership and were told that it was normal movement for the pacifica. we had the pacifica looked at by the dealership over 5 times with the same response. the issue progressively got worse and now the vehicle shakes when changing gears, cornering, stopping, starting, or hitting potholes. we went to another dealership after moving and in march 2010 we were told that the engine motor mounts were bad and were causing the issue we are experiencing. the dealership offered to replace them all for $2500, which was out of our budget so was not completed. we were also informed that the swaybar endpoints might be bad as well and could be replaced for additional cost. we drive under normal conditions and this type of problem should never surface on a vehicle under these conditions. we were informed that the motor could separate from the frame in an accident and cause serious injury. i feel it is unreasonable to have the consumer pay for a manufacturing defect such as this. there were several thousand motor mounts on back order in 2009 leading me to believe that the problem is wider spread than just a few isolated incidents. hopefully this information will prompt research and action on behalf of the safety of drivers as well as end consumers. thank you for your time. *tr
Had my suv service at the dealer and they told me that the subframe is rusted and has to be replace they are charging me $4,300 i call chrysler and ask about any recall and they told me that my suv was not made on the recall year a car should not rust that bad in 8 years. *tr
In july 2009, during the vehicle safety inspection, the first signs that the engine cradle was rusted and even perforated in some places were reported. now, it is getting worse and worse, vibrations can be felt when driving and great concerns are made on this vehicle safety. updated 12/08/14
I have suspicion that the 2005 chrysler pacifica's motor mounts are below expected standards. i monitor my vehicles for complaints and recalls to insure that if i have to have work done on my cars it is for expected wear and tear of any vehicle. it is through this monitoring that i have noticed that i am not the only person to experience what sounds like substandard motor mounts. this has been my 1st vehicle of any kind to require replacement motor mounts.my 2005 pacifica with 73k miles has had to have both motor mounts replaced. it seems that before they were replace they were no longer functioning and the motor was being held in place by 3 other minor mounts. apparently, the backorder is so bad that it could not be guaranteed within 2 months. i had to order them through a 3rd party in order to replace before any major damage was caused. this raises red flags: are these faulty mounts? do they no longer make these mounts for other vehicles? if so, is it due to substandard design? why has there not been an investigation? *tr
Traveling at highway speeds the sunroof glass was partially separated from the mounting frame. the glass was vertical in the air stream until the car was moved to the side of the road. the glass was fully removed and taken to a glass repair shop to reattach to the mounting frame. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the windows and mirrors are too small and obstruct visibility. while backing out of the driveway, she struck another vehicle. she has struck three vehicles and believes that the lack of visibility is the cause. the speed, powertrain, and failure mileage were unknown. the current mileage was 22,599 updated 03-05-08 *bf. updated 03/05/08 *tr
Front lower bumper on 2005 chrysler pacifica fell off while traveling on florida turnpike. heard loud thud while driving, running over something rough. road ahead was clear, in rear view mirror saw dark strip being run over by numerous cars. wondered how i missed seeing something so big. thirty miles later we stopped. looked at the front of the car, and realized it was our lower bumper. thank god we were not killed, nor was anyone behind us. chrysler service has been notified, looked at car. said, sorry, we can do nothing, the part is missing. searched internet, found 5 other cases of front lower bumpers falling off pacifica's while driving. car only has 26,934 miles on it. now chrysler wants $ 811.- to fix the problem? as i said, thank god nobody was killed. nothing done to fix or replace part. afraid to put it back on the vehicle unless it happens again with dire consequences. *jb
Today i took my 2005 chrysler pacifica into the shop for new tires, i was told they could not do an alignment because the tie rods looked bad and to take it to the dealer, i did. i then found out from my local dealer that unfortunately that is all they see is chrysler pacificas...my car has less than 45k miles and i have been told that the entire front end suspension is worthless and right now i have bad gear boxes, a broken engine mount, and can count on having front axel problems as well. the dealer also had a 2004 brought in today and that car and mine were raised up and the repair men showed me and everyone else around the identical problems on both cars. *tr
