We have classified the 92 complaints from 2005 Chrysler Pacifica about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
I took my vehicle in for inspection and it failed due to the engine cradle being rusted out, the cost of repair is $2500-$4000. i googled "engine cradle rusted out" and the articles that were listed first all pertain to chrysler pacifica 2005. i proceeded to call chrysler about my problem and was told they are not extending warranties to cover the problem but that they would "document" my call. i was also told that if i made any repairs to my vehicle pertaining to this problem that i should keep my receipts. i am a single mother trying to raise 3 teenagers and do not have this kind of money to put into repairing a vehicle that isn't even worth the cost to repair it. furthermore, chrysler knows about this problem and has not issued a recall to all pacifica owners to fix it. they are allowing their customers to drive a vehicle that is extremely unsafe. i am very upset because i have allowed my teenage son to drive my car not knowing that it is literally a ticking time bomb, the engine could have fallen out at any time. now i am stuck with a car i cannot drive because i can't get inspected and it is a hazard to me and other cars on the road to drive. i have read many complaints on this site alone pertaining to this same problem, so i am not the only one and it is not just a handful of cars affected. it is time for chrysler to stand up and accept the blame for this and make it right for me and hundreds of others
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving at approximately 35 mph, the vehicle vibrated violently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the technician was not abe to inspect the vehicle; however, the technician stated that the cradle was rusted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
Rust through of engine cradle at various spots on engine cradle. i'm the original owner. the car has 80500 miles. contacted fca via phone. fca says my pacifica does not fit the narrowly defined manufacture date of 02/28/2004 to 03/31/2004. my pacifica was manufactured on08/2004 and therefore does not qualify for extended warranty coverage. my local fca dealer gave me an estimate of about $ 2600 to replace. this problem was noticed during a routine oil change recently. i am the only one who drives the car on a limited basis with no passengers.
Cradle is rusted & on the verge of falling apart. on checking online, realized that there was a recall for 2004 models but not for 2005. a mechanic on looking it up noticed that anti-rust was not applied at all, and hence resulting in the rusting.
I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change and i was informed that my subframe is completely rusted and the engine is on the verge of falling out the vehicle. mechanic stated that this is a very common issue with this particular vehicle. the mechanic told me that the vehicle is no longer safe to drive and the cost of this repair will be upwards of $3000.
I'm one of the victim of the engine cradle rot, that occurs in the 2004 and 2005 pacifica. i found out about it when i jacked up the car to get under it, it was hidden. the failure of the cradle was 100%. it failed on the passenger's side of cradle and was rusted from front to back
Took my car in for brakes and mechanic sent me pictures of car frame rusted through i had to have the whole frame replaced because it was unsafe to drive . i don't have a printer so i can't print out pictures to send you
My 2005 chrysler pacifica is completely rotted out underneath. when my mechanic saw the carriage of my car he warned me that i was driving a death trap. he said it is completely unsafe and i should not be driving it any longer.
The complete undercarriage is rusted out & falling off
Took my 2005 pacifica to my local mechanic for an oil change. was told that the lower sub-frame on the front passenger side was rusted and corroded. he said it could have been due to condensation from the a/c or road salt. will soon be replacing the vehicle since it's no longer under warranty. very shameful that i see a lot of complaints about rust damage on the lower frame and still no recall.
Typical rust through of engine cradle sub frame (k frame) of a pacifica suv almost causing the engine to drop through to the ground. discovered the rust through, and subsequent engine shift, in mid october 2015 @ approximately 144,000 miles, while car was up on a lift. car was no longer drivable due to this condition. had a local chrysler dealership's repair shop to replace the cradle frame and motor mounts shortly thereafter. they disavowed any help or their involvement in getting chrysler to cover the repair of a known defect. called chrysler's customer service and was told my pacifica was not part of the extended warranty issued for a small number of and short production run of pacificas. am attempting to again contact chrysler customer service via letter and ask for help with the cost of repairs. also trying to join the class action group that is suing chrysler over this issue. law firm in columbus, oh is lead counsel on the case. i love this car for all its attributes and that is was developed, built and sold while mercedes benz owned chrysler, giving it a much higher quality in my opinion. present day fiat chrysler doesn't seem to want to help out on this issue.
I went to get the 2005 chrystler pacifica inspected and was told by the mechanic that the bottom was rusted so badly that the engine would fall out, and further that the year make and model was under recall for the same problem, the bottom rusting out horribly. i called chrystler with the vin # and was told this 1 wasn't part of the recall even though it was the same year and make of the recall. i owe 4,400$ on the car and now am told the repairs would exceed 5,000$. i financed it for 6,455$ at the start. i'm disabled and greatly in need of help, i don't know what to do i have made a slew of calls to no avail at this point and continue to make payments as i don't want to ruin my credit, please help me, i don't know what to do.
On the highway there were these vibrations in the pacific so my husband and i took the car to the mechanic which recommended new suspension so we got those. the problem wasn't fixed my husband took it to another mechanic for new tires, suspension and alignment to be told that our only means of transportation was not fit to drive because the subframe completely has rotted out. thank god he did that, i'm horrified my child was in it all this time. my husband and i called the number 1 800-992-1997 daimlerchrysler. to be told there is nothing that can be done for us the mileage of the car was outside warranty. the mechanic's quote for is over $2000. i'm not sure what to do right now to get to work and manage my usual weekly errands.
This vehicle was appraised as a trade-in for another automobile. it was discovered that its engine cradle was corroded and the vehicle was declared unsafe for resale. this situation is identical to numerous other complaints regarding chrysler pacificas and is the currently the subject of a class-action lawsuit.
Engine cradle is rusted out. completely failed. engine is near to falling out.

Got word from my mechanic that the engine cradle is rotting and rusting and is a serious hazard to drive. he said it potentially could lead to the engine falling out of the vehicle.
In ''14, it was noticed that the subframe was rusted. i did not inspect it any further because i trusted that it was a normal amount of rust. however, on 4/27/15, the car began to have issues. upon acceleration from a stop or slow-roll, there is a vibration that can be felt throughout the floorboards & the gas pedal. when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd gear & the rpm's drop, the car makes a "thud" or "clunk" sound from the engine area of the car. this "thud" can be felt in the cabin of the car. the vibrations & the noise has grown worse over the course of 3 days. i had the car inspected during an oil change at a chrysler dealership on 4/30/15, & i was advised that, due to the amount of rust to the subframe & engine cradle, the car's structural integrity has been breached. the mechanic took a picture & had the service manager bring it to me in the waiting room & advise me that if i hit a large enough bump, the subframe may break apart & the engine may drop out of the car. i contacted chrysler & they offer no remedy. upon research of the issue, i have found that this is a common problem among ''04 & ''05 chrysler pacificas & that the manufacturer had issued a recall on the car for this problem in ''10, but rescinded the recall & created a tsb it, yet upheld the recall for pacificas that were manufactured between 2/23/04 & 3/31/04. due to the initial recall, tsb, & the partial recall from the chrysler pacificas manufactured in '04, chrysler has admitted fault in not properly coating the subframe materials to prevent rust from occurring. chrysler is not willing to take corrective action for their dangerous & faulty craftsmanship of their cars. this is negligence & a dangerous practice-for the lives of the drivers, passengers, & others on the roads, as well as within the realms of business ethics. this widespread situation needs to be addressed & remedied immediately. *tr
I took my car to a shop for repairs, and the mechanic was alarmed to find that the frame is so rusted under the engine that he deemed it unsafe to drive. my car has 185,000 miles on it, and is in otherwise good condition. it is not safe to drive as the engine could fall to the ground, potentially causing an accident. i was advised to get rid of the vehicle, but obviously i cannot sell it. i was never notified of this potential problem, although i have become aware that chrysler knew the problem existed. *tr
I only purchased my vehicle 1 year ago. the first month i had it, i tried to have it inspected and was told my sub-frame was rotted. i contacted the chrysler company and there were no recalls. i contacted the dealer and they wouldn't help me. my check engine light is on because the o2 sensors are bad and now my power steering is leaking and i was told the steering rack is bad. i've also had to replace my inner and outer tie rods on both sides and also replaced the sway bar links. i am a single mom with 3 kids and this car has been a huge burden on me financially. i made a huge mistake buying a chrysler. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic for a vehicle repair, the mechanic informed the contact that the subframe was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.
I took my 2005 pacifica for a routine oil change last week, and our mechanic discovered a large area of the engine cradle was completely rotted away on the passenger side of the undercarriage. he said it's not safe to drive until something is done to fix it, because the engine could fall out of the car at any time. after doing some research online, we discovered that we are not the only ones who have this problem on this make and model. we took the car to our local chrysler dealer, and they will have to install a new engine cradle at an estimated cost of $2300. i then contacted chrysler customer care, and they took a stance of plausible deniability, telling me that this is a problem unique to my pacifica. i explained that there is irrefutable proof that it isn't unique to my vehicle. all pacificas are prone to this failure. when i asked about the extension chrysler issued for the warranty on pacificas because of this very issue and why owners were never notified, the representative did not deny there was an extension; however, he informed me that my car is too old and well past any warranty mileage (which it isn't at 138,600 miles). at that point the representative became rude. when i asked to speak with a superior, he informed me there was no one else i could speak to on this issue and there is nothing chrysler will do to assist me in the matter. all in all, i'm (1) alarmed that chrysler is not addressing this significant safety hazard in this model, and (2) frustrated that they refuse to do anything to correct the problem. i'd even be happy with a compromise, for instance, if they would supply the part and we would pay for the labor, but they shut the door in my face. hoping the nhtsa can investigate and call them to account for such shoddy construction. *tr
Frame is rusted and car is not safe. *tr
2005 chrysler pacifica engine cradle is rusted out and the engine could fall out of the car. i find the car to be unsafe to drive. that is the only thing is rusted out on the car, this needs to be fix by chrysler. *tr

Engine frame rusted out.
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while operating the vehicle, a knocking noise was present and the motor seemed to shift when coming to a stop. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who discovered that the engine cradle was rusted and corroded. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 150,000.
Vehicle engine cradle sub-frame is rotting through and nearly separating one portion from another. this will at some point in time fail in a catastrophic manner. this defect seems to be well documented on numerous web sites and fiat chrysler group is aware of this problem and makes like the problem is with only a very limited number of vehicles which is clearly not the case. they have an extended warranty of note for this very problem, but is limiting it to a very few cars manufactured between a very limited timeframe from late 2004 to early 2005, all others are excluded in spite of the fact that numerous pacifica's are noted as having this problem.this repair is an approx. $3000 repair that chrysler is ignoring the safety of the owners and families of these cars and those driving around them. *tr
My pacifica has been garage kept since i bought it new in july of 2005. besides the fact that the body has started to rust through, repairs for which i have no option but to replace the entire carriage (as i've been told by multiple body men), today i was told by my mechanic that my subframe has started to rust through in multiple locations, and he was obligated to tell me about the damage. the car only has 60,000 miles on it! *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while the vehicle was being inspected, it was discovered that the engine cradle was severely corroded and fractured due to the corrosion. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 174,717.
We had our car inspected this week and were told we had a rotted body frame. we were sent to a dodge dealer and they told us we had a rotted subframe. the cost of repair will be $1885.40 for the part and $600 for labor. it will not be ready to drive till april 6 as the dealer requires the parts money up front before they will even order the part so we have to save the money for this. so we have no car for the next 10 days at least. we have researched and understand that chrysler knows of this problem and did a limited amount of repairs as it was their fault but apparently they are not helping the majority of car owners who have this problem. this does not seem fair to the other owners. we can barely afford to come up with this money to fix something that is this company's fault. i cannot believe they are not being forced to fix all these cars when it is a danger issue. how can we drive a car with a rotted frame? we had to have the rocker panels replaced a few years ago when they rotted out too. now this is added to our cost. we cannot afford to buy another car and barely able to fix this car at our retirement age. why aren't companies held to a standard to protect consumers? we understand there are class action suits that have recently been filed for this problem within the last couple of months but we have no idea how to be involved in theses cases if it is even possible to do that. we wish there was a solution for us and for others with similar problems with this car. *tr
I took my car into to have a motor mount replaced when my mechanic called me and told my that the frame or engine cradle was rusted out. he took some pictures and there are holes in the cradle. he advised me not to put anymore money into this car. i researched this online and found many complaints about this problem. i called chrysler and they said they could not help me. i'm ready to file a complaint with state attorneys office as i think this is criminal that chrysler will not recall this car and fix this common problem! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that when the vehicle was taken for a scheduled oil change, the technician noticed that the cradle and sub frame was severely rusted. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a second diagnosis where it was confirmed that the sub frame was fractured and rusted and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000. updated 03/08/16*lj
