Found out that my front sub frame/engine cradle is badly corroded and full of holes after having my tires changed.

Takata recall my entire undercarriage has completely rusted out the muffler fell off and the bolts that hold the frame to the bottom of the car rusted out and are hanging there unconnected.the mechanic put his fingers right through the motor mount and explained that my car ..after i have made my last payment is undrivable. we do not ive in a state that has salt on the roads and my car is housed in a garage at all times.the repairs are over 4800. i cannot sell it as it is unsafe to drive. the mechanic explained if the car was driving fast enough and a bump was hit the motor would come up into the driver and front seat killing anyone in it not to mention other vehicles on the road. i love my car and am very sad that this problem isnt on the recall list as other pacifia owners have had the same issues once it hits 100k mies.

Exessive cradle rot or rust holding ip engine. makes it unsafe to drive. can put my hand in frame through rust hole. this was brought to my attention by northgate chrysler on colerain in cincinnati.the service manage says she sees a lot of this problem.

Takata recall hi my pacifica has expierenced the very common & dangerous problem the engine cradle has rusted & rotted out. this is a big issue with these cars & can be deadly as once the cradle rots completely the motor falls out which obviously isnt safe. ive done lots of research & heard many horror stories i'm currently out of a car until i can afford the thousands of dollars to fix this. google noted some states have filed lawsuits against chrysler & it has accomplished nothing. ive owned this car 6 months & just curious if theres any help for me.

I recently purchased a 2005 chrysler pacifica i got my vehicle into the shop to have the air conditioner fixed. i received a call from the shop telling me my vehicle was unsafe to drive that the subframe in the front is rusted through. after doing some research this is an ongoing problem with pacifica engine cradles the cost to fix it will be 4,000 that's what i paid for the vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was undergoing an inspection by an independent mechanic, the technician informed the contact that the engine cradle was severely corroded all the way through. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 185,000. the vin was not available.

I took my vehicle to the mechanic to have a repair done. while there the mechanic informed me that the engine cradle had completely rusted out. he informed me that driving the vehicle was quite dangerous due to the cradle being so rusted which could result in the engine falling out of the car. as this was something quite dangerous i called chrysler to have them help me and check to see if there was a recall. nothing was done.

To my understanding i just bought my 2005 chrysler pacifica 3 weeks ago and went to get the oil changed and the mechanics could not get the screw out and they told me that my sub frame that hold the engine was all rusted out and can cause me to have a fatal accident and i was also told that there was a recall on these vehicles about that and i will need to know how to get my car repaired on the subframe, i seen it with my own eyes how the sub frame is rusted and cracked and corrison, i am glad they told me now i can't drive my pacifica due to this and can't get my oil changed, the oil mechanic took a picture..please help me take care of this

05 pacifica engine cradle rusted out. defective part rust in salt states chrysler offered no help to get a used one well know issue with these parts. chrysler never warned owners this was a know issue that could happen. you could be driving and have your engine fall out please make chrysler inform owners to check engine cradle before there defective parts kill someone.

Rusted subframe discovered when performing regular oil change

My car would not pass inspection because the frame had not been coated properly and had rusted out. it was decribed to me that this "engine cradle rot" issue is common among 2004-2005 pacificas. there has been no recall for the 2005 chrysler pacificas yet however the situation is very dangerous as the engine was not properly suspended and could fall through. it is my understanding that crysler did recall 2004 models but not 2005 models yet.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the body frame was rusted out. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the dealer (bob brady dodge chrysler jeep ram, 4025 e boyd rd, decatur, il 62521), but was not diagnosed. the contact was informed that due to the severe corrosion, the frame could fracture while on the lift. the manufacturer was informed of the failure and stated that there were no recalls. the failure mileage was 205,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. within less than 30 days of the contact owning the vehicle, the contact stated that the vehicle jerked and the transmission slowly shifted in and out of gear. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the sensors could be the cause of the failure. the vehicle was also taken back to the dealer it was purchased from and the alternator assembly was replaced; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was also taken to bergstrom used car super center of appleton (2925 n victory ln, appleton, wi 54913, (920) 749-3232) where it was diagnosed that the frame had extensive rust, holes, and corrosion that could affect the motor, rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

Front sub-frame has rusted through rendering the vehicle unsafe to drive. this is the exact same failure as many other reports you have received on this vintage, make and model vehicle. fca has refused to offer any assistance toward the repair and my local mechanic reported that new replacement sub-frames are not even available - leaving consumers with the choice of recycling the vehicle at a salvage yard, repairing it with what is obviously flawed oem components, or keep it as lawn decoration. i have taken the vehicle off the road and am thankful the problem was discovered prior to my wife or son experiencing a catastrophic failure while driving. it is only a matter of time before someone looses a life because of this defect. be proactive and force fca to repair these failures - regardless of mileage - or this organization is part of the problem.

I took my pacifica in to have a coolant leak addressed as well as an oil change and tire rotation. after they changed the oil & rotated the tires they called me to say they had found the subframe/engine cradle had rusted through completely and would need to be repaired immediately. they suggested the coolant leak be addressed after the subframe was fixed as the vehicle wasn't drivable in its current state. the shop also said this kind of rust damage was absolutely not normal and the repair should be covered by chrysler. it appears, however, this is not the case.

The engine cradle of my 2005 chrysler pacifica is rusting out. mileage is 175734. the estimate to repair is $2900 and more than the value of the car. i like this car but cannot afford the repair cost.

Engine cradle has rotted away on passenger side, well on it's way on the drivers. cross member twists when steering and handling is dangerous with the motor and sub frame twisting when you hit a bump. we've stopped driving it as direction of mechanic for fear of motor falling out and it has in other cases! we noticed it last year after seeing a news report on the issue but it wasn't this bad then, now we won't drive it.

Rotting subframe. rust holes 6inches plus wide. engine at risk of falling out. far beyond what normal rust would be.

My pacifica has cradle rust underneath the vehicle,my steering wheel is tilted to the left and it is very unsafe to drive my vehicle anywhere. i work in the city of chicago and we deal with the elements everyday and now my car is swaying left to right and would not drive straight...please help

The entire underside is rusting and falling apart. the biggest problem being the cradle. it is so bad theres cracks all over and big rust holes. the mechanic shop told my wife not to drive because its to dangerous!! she drives several young kids around everyday. so now it sits rusting even faster till we can get it fixed. chrysler accepts no responsibility. of course this is a common issue and i'm glad there's a class action lawsuit on this! it has 120,000 miles and to think the engine could drop out while she's driving kids around. that could kill everyone including other drivers around her. this will be my last chrysler/dodge/jeep vehicle and my kids will never own one. it's not my first, and i've had major issues with every single one. my fords and chevy's have never fallen apart like chrysler/dodge does.

Rusted through sub frame.

Body frame rusting outler pacifica

Sub frame rust, do to chrysler not correctly coating the subframe on the 2005 chrysler pacifica, the sub frame rusts away making the engine unsecured potently causing the engine to drop potently causing a multiple car incident or death

Dealer reported on 8/15/2017 that my car has an engine cradle problem. there are holes in the cradle now due to rusting. he also told me it is a safety problem.

A few months ago, i noticed a shaking in the steering wheel of my 2005 chrysler pacifica. it seemed to became much worse, very quickly, to the point of where i could barely hold the car straight, so i took it in this week for a brake inspection. the problem isn't the brakes at all.. the entire unibody frame and engine carriage have completely rusted and deteriorated!! the mechanic told me that the vehicle wasn't safe to even drive home! he was able to push his finger through the carriage, and said that the engine is about to fall out onto the ground! both axels are also rusted almost completely off. it's horrible! i am attaching pictures.... and, as it turns out, chrysler knows about this pacifica rust issue! i decided to search the internet for "2005 chrysler pacifica rust", and it isn't just my car! chrysler knows that i, and so many others, are out here driving our babies around in vehicles with rusted out frames that could snap at any second!!! (ie. chrysler initially issued recall of 2004-05 pacifica, citing potential unibody rust.. later rescinded the offer.) (nhtsa [as early as oct 2004] 10008424, 10044109, 10045080, 10010501...) (class-action lawsuit filed in 2014 against chrysler by pacifica owners. lawsuit denied due to chrysler 2009 bankruptcy.) note: this message will only allow me to attach one photo. one photo doesn't adequately show the depth of the situation. both axels are rusted almost completely off, as well as the engine cradle. please contact me to view additional photos. thank you.

I purchased a 2005 chrysler pacifica used from a family member in 2015. i had it serviced at the same garage that they did prior to purchasing it. i took the car in for a flat tire repair and was told that it was unsafe to drive due to cradle rust. the frame that suspends the engine is rusted and it was deemed unsafe to drive. this problem must have taken a considerable amount of time to develop. it had never been mentioned in the many years of routine service in which the car had been inspected and repaired. i was told that it would be approximately $3000 to repair this problem. in researching this, i discovered that there was an admission from chrysler that pacificas manufactured in 2004 and 2005 had not been properly protected from rust in the cradle. this is a manufacture problem. this has created a situation in which this car is unsafe to drive. the car is in good shape otherwise and has been reliable. i would not have known that it was unsafe to drive if i had not taken it in to repair the tire. i purchased it to drive to and from college and now i have no transportation. i am thankful that i was not injured due to this problem, but many people are still driving these cars and are unaware that there is a dangerous problem. this is a serious safety concern and it should be fixed by chrysler. thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Took my 2005 chrysler pacifica into the mechanic for front end noise. the mechanic discovered that my sub frame is rusted out. the mechanic is concerned that my engine could fall out.

2005 pacifica bought from dealer now out of business. vehicle failed pennsylvania state inspection in july 2017 for rotted sub frame / k frame. had just spent $600 on a catalytic converter. now the estimate is $3100 for a new sub frame... this cost totals the vehicle and i'll have to buy a new one and i'm out $600 to boot. this should have been a recall. i was never notified. this is a manufacturing defect. rust prevention undercoating not done or not done properly. some say it was skipped entirely. problem is reported on the web often and is well known. vehicle cannot pass state inspection and cannot be driven safely. engine could fall out the bottom. if anyone knows of a class action suit or some government intervention, please let me know. the vehicle is worse than useless, it's dangerous.

Engine cradle is rusting through and is going to crack in half , the engine will fall out if not replaced. i was notified of this when my car was in for an oil change . thank god or we could have been in a horrible accident.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds or while the vehicle was idling, the contact heard a knocking sound coming from the engine. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine cradle and mounts were severely rusted with holes. the vehicle was determined to be unsafe to drive and was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the issue. the failure mileage was 145,801.

Engine cradle is rotten fill with holes .need to be replace at tune of $4000 which i don't have chrysler know of problem but refuses to recall

When driving the car would stall at stop signs or has issues maintaining speed going up hills. also i took the vehicle into a mechanic and they told me the sub-frame is completely rotted through and the steering is being held together with 1 bolt. they stated the car is unsafe to drive.

Subframe nearly rusted through at welds. frame has almost no rust, but again, subframe so rusted car is unsafe to drive. i dont know what else can explain except something was missed in production. researching online i have found that to be a frequent problem with this vehicle. rust was found while performing oil change. there hasnt been an accident but the subframe that holds the engine is rusting through so i dont want to drive and find my engine on the ground.

On february 20th, 2017 i took my car in for an oil change and the tech pulled me in the shop to show me that my subframe is rusted.

Official chrysler service repair shop has been doing my oil changes every 3 months - 4 times a year since 2005 when i purchased the car. not once has their mechanic mentioned the rust of the cross member. i only found out and took pictures this week when i had a local shop change my breaks and do transmission service and they showed me the rust, could not believe that no one ever mentioned this as it was extreme with cracks and holes and that chrysler is aware of this issue regarding rust on cross member due to them not properly coating the engine cradle. chrysler has had certain vin #'s recalled, but claim not mine though build in 2004, i am in a snow belt state ( ny). they don't want to take responsibility. i am afraid to drive car, dangerous and engine can fall out - could cost $4000-5000 to repair front and back - and unfortunately i don't have finances to purchase a new car. i just want my car covered under their warrantee. this problem did not happen over night. i only have 127,000 miles and rarely drive in the snow as it is awful in the snow.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving 25 mph, the contact heard a loud noise and the front end of the vehicle shook. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was towed to the contact's home where he took photos of the undercarriage of the vehicle. the photos were shown to a dealer where it was determined that the engine cradle was rusted and could fall out of the vehicle. the vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 124,000.

Brought vehicle in to have the starter replaced and when they put it up on hoist they called me back to show me that's the engine cradle was almost completely rusted out and that it was unsafe to drive. this will cost a lot to repair. very upset about this

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was undergoing routine oil service, the technician noticed that the entire frame underneath the vehicle was corroded. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. while driving various speeds and while depressing the brake pedal, the steering wheel would violently shake. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the subframe was corroded through to the point that the engine could fall out. the subframe needed to be replaced. the contact called the milford chrysler dealer (located on 1470 boston post rd, milford, ct 06460) who stated that the vin was not associated with a recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 270,000.

I went for an oil change and was told that the engine cage is severely rotting away and driving my car is a road hazard. i only have 138,000 miles on my car and would like to drive it until it dies...but right now i was told the replacement part is no longer made and i would have to find a salvage car to find a replacement part. the quadrant remains that i bought a used car from a chrysler dealer that should have known about the recall on this part due to it not being manufactured correctly for corrosion resistance. apparently i am not the only one with this problem. if i were to sell it i would be passing a dangerous car on to someone else...i still owe on this car and it is worth less than what i owe let alone dangerous to drive to work 75 miles a day. chrysler needs to make amends or reparations for the lack of action regarding the safety issue here...and this is a big safety issue. *tr

The front cradle is so badly rusted it broke in three different places.. i was driving home when i made a left turn and noticed the steering was real tight and did not release back.. i traveled further down the road and noticed it was swaying and hard to keep straight.. when i made it home i used a flashlight because it was dark out and seen where it had snapped. three different spots.. i'm mad because this was known issue and i was not notified by the dealership or chrysler that there was a defect prone to that make and model. no average person checks the undercarriage of a car when the body looks so good. *tr
