We have classified the 137 complaints from 2005 Chrysler Pacifica about ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING into the following categories.
Engine cradle has rusted through and made the car unsafe to operate for my teenage son. a very expensive replacement is required. structural integrity should have a much longer lifetime. chrysler was contacted and declined the opportunity to make things right. *tr
i own a 3005 chrysler pacifica that has been taken regularly to the dealer for oil changes repairs and regular maintenance. today my husband noticed some rusting of the frame that the engine sits in so i went to dealer and had them look at it and they agreed and were surprised that this was happening and it shouldn't. i was told it should be fixed is very unsafe and the cost is very expensive. i called chrysler and they simply said sorry not a recalled vehicle and there is nothing they can do. they told me to fix it and save the receipt in case there is a future recall. i am very upset by this response. i am concerned about driving my kids as well as myself any where in a car that is unsafe and apparently our safety is not a concern for chrysler. i will make sure no one i know buys a car from this company especially after finding out that so many other pacificas have this same problem. it should have been recalled. *tr

Just had a state inspection and oil change done on my 2005 pacifica. the technician put my car on a lift and pointed out multiple areas where the engine cradle frame is rusting out. he had never seen anything like this on a vehicle of this age. as it turns out, while investigating this issue on the nhtsb and other web sites, this is a common problem with the chrysler pacifica. and is apparently of little concern to chrysler. they have offered some people help and others have been told "too bad", based on some arbitrary manufacture date range. this is even though the defect is the same no matter the manufacture date. this total disregard for the safety of their consumers is unbelievable and should not be tolerated. while my car has passed this inspection, without correction, it will never pass again. this was not a low cost vehicle and if chrysler was aware of this safety issue why was i not contacted. are they waiting for some kind of serious accident with injuries or death to respond properly? i contacted chrysler on this issue and was told they would not help me. "thank you for contacting the chrysler customer assistance center. thank you for your recent contact regarding your vehicle. we fully appreciate your concern, particularly in view of the expense and inconvenience involved, however, we are unable to accommodate your request for out-of-warranty consideration. the vehicle has exceeded the time and/or mileage limitations of the warranty (or warranties) we offered on the vehicle at the time it was purchased. although we are unable to provide a more favorable reply, we appreciate the opportunity to review your request. thank you again for taking the time to communicate with us. we're sorry we cannot provide a more favorable reply thanks again for your email." *tr
My 2005 chrysler pacifica is unsafe to drive due to the front sub-frame/engine cradle completely rusted through. this problem seems to be happening to several pacifica owners all over. this is truley a faulty device which chrysler should recall on and fix or cover the cost to fix this problem. *tr

Driving my vehicle in town taking my kids to school and with no warning the car just stopped. felt like we hit a wall. luckily me and my children were not hurt except for some seat belt bruising. while looking around online i found there was a recall on the 2005 pacificas for this same problem. i called chrysler to tell them i want it fixed and they claim my vehicle is not part of the recall and wouldn't help me. i asked if maybe it should have been a bigger recall than they thought and maybe they made a mistake so could they please look at it and make sure the part that was recalled wasn't the same problem i'm having. they wouldn't assist me in any way. this is unacceptable and unsafe for me and my children. *tr

on jan 16, 2012 car missfired on an incline several times within 12 miles, then stalled upon turning right. during the return trip, missfired several times in an incline. stalled backing out of a drive way. engine light came on. took the car to mechanic and the light register the cam shaft. replaced it. during another incident two days later on jan. 29, 2012. the car again miss fired on an incline then promptly stalled - not on the turn - during the incline. had to wait several minutes for the car to start again. the miss firing has been occuring for at least two months intermittantly. i got it checked with the engine light came on, but the replacement of the can shaft didn't correct the problem. the first stall occured on jan 16, 2012. the engine light is back on after the stall today. after researching this issue, it seems that this is not just my car, but many pacifica's have this problem. i'll be notifying chrysler dealer tomorrow. i'm am very concerned about this issue. i do not feel safe in this car. *tt
I have previously reported a problem with the 2005 chrysler pacifica stalling when turning. the problem has progressively worsened. this month alone, (december 2011) the car has stalled 5 times. i am afraid to drive the car for fear that i will crash when it stalls. there are so many chrysler pacifica owners that are reporting the same problem. along with the stalling issue, the gas pedal sticks and needs to be pushed rather hard. a third problem i have encountered this year is the headlamps "burning out". i have replaced the front left headlamp three this year. i am familiar with the handling instructions for headlamps. i am greatly distressed by these problems, especially the stalling. i have children that i drive around in this car. please do something about chrysler's failure to fix this problem. *tr
When i initially purchased my vehicle, 2005 chrysler pacifica, from genesis auto sales located at 1005 springdale rd in austin, tx. 78721 there was noise by the front left tire. after bringing this to the companies attention they agreed to fix it. the kept the vehicle about a week. the day i picked it up my father looked it over and found duct tape on the part, cv joint. i took the vehicle back and also mentioned the horn also went out. the company agreed to fix this again as well as perform my inspection as the sticker had expired. the car was kept another 2 weeks. when the vehicle was picked up for a second time the car began overheating. at this time my father and mechanic looked it over and found a busted hose, but they noted that the cv joint was duct taped again this time covered in grease. he also noted missing lug nuts on all tires. i brought this up to the company again who refused to listen. i filed a complaint with dmv, bbb, oag, ftc and dps. dps sent out an investigator who took pics as well and also noted that the tint on the vehicle was illegal and that not only were lug nuts missing but the lug bolts were broken off. all this as well as the motor mount have since been replaced. the bolts holding the cv joint and motor mount were also found not to be the proper size. on 12/24/11 as i was driving my seat belt became unbolted from the vehicle. i was able to place it back in where it came from but it is not secure. the company refuses to help with these problems and i will be pursuing legal action as all problems with the vehicle have been safety hazards and i am now unable to drive the vehicle for fear myself or my family will be injured as im not sure all problems have been fixed as different noises still occur. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the front driver and passenger side tires continued to wear prematurely and were replaced three times in a very short period of time. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they advised her that the cradle had completely rusted, which caused the tires to wear fast. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were approximately 102,000.
I bought this vehicle in 2011. when i brought to my mechanic for an oil change he told me my subframe (engine cradle) was severely rusted and corroded and that i probably wouldn't make it through the winter...the part cost around $1200. alone without labor. i tried to save up the money but we just couldn't do it and within the past couple months my mechanic has informed me that my car is not safe to drive until it is fixed. he also advise to check for a recall and to call chrysler and see what they say to do. they say there was a service bulletin for that matter of the defective part but only for the month of feb 04-march 04 and mine was made in june 04 and that my car even though it has the same issue is exempt from the replacement part. so i am paying for a car that is not safe to drive because of a defective part that chrysler refuses to help me with. it is not from normal wear and tear this car only had 62k miles on it when i had purchased it and my first oil change came at 65k miles when the problem was first noticed. after researching the internet i found multiple complaints of the exact same thing. i contacted the attorney general and they tried their best to help but because my car was 7 years old it was out of the warranty technically even though i still have only about 80k miles on it. i was told to make a complaint on here in hopes of possibly joining others to where there may end up having a recall on this part seeing my car is not safe to drive at all. *tr
My 2005 chrysler pacifica started running terrible at low speeds. it does not run smoothly, instead it kind of chugs along almost like it is missing or like i got a bad tank of gas. i have been through several tanks of gas adding fuel cleaner to it and it doesn't help. i have taken it in to the local chrysler dealership twice and they can not recreate the problem. it runs fine on the highway but at 35 mph in town i feel it chug along. very frustrating that chrysler can not figure out what is happening with it. they hooked it up to the machine and got nothing back. they replaced spark plugs and did a fuel injection flush and also service the transmission and the problem is still happening. *tr

We purchased a used 2005 pacifica in 2009. it has gone through 3 catalytic converters, 6 oxygen sensors and the dealership says it needs to be done again. the gas pedal sticks requiring one to stomp on it to get it to go down sometimes. big safety concern. it has lost it's power steering and acted like it was going to die on four occasions when turning shortly after being started. we owe twice what this car is worth and have no idea what we are going to do. it goes through oil like mad too. the dealership says that's normal. a quart every other week is not normal. the tailpipe is black. the dealership says they don't know what to do unless they continue replacing the 1000 dollar parts. there has been no word from chrysler so far. i spoke to a friend of the family who teaches car repair and he said there is obviously a serious engine problem. *tr
I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica with 49,500 miles, manufactured in june 2005. on three (3) occasions while in a low speed left hand turn the car has stalled without warning. the first occasion was 2 months ago, the subsequent stalls occurred over the past two (2) weeks. upon coming to a stop and placing the car in park the engine restarts without any problem. *tr
My 2005 chrysler pacifica has broken motor mounts and it seems that it is very common in this vehicle, i wonder why nothing has been done to remedy this wide spread problem that chrysler should be held accountable for. *tr
While driving and coming to a stop once i pressed on the gas to start again the car would make a bucking movement and then proceed to move on as normal. well one day car started to over heat as oil gauge raised, so pulled the car over and let it cool down. went to local gas station to pick up coolant and poured it in and then started car to see that it was all gushing out the front end. could not drive it so had it towed to a local garage for repair. come to find out that a front and rear motor mount had broken causing the motor to shift slightly every time i pressed the gas with this motor shifting it went over enough to loosen and undo the radiator hose which caused the car to overheat. the front and rear motor mounts were replaced, but it seems there may be more underlying issues due to the motors movement. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact was driving 10 mph when he smelled a burning odor from the engine. the contact pulled over to look under the hood and discovered that a fire had ignited in the engine and also underneath the vehicle. the fire department was called to extinguish the fire. a fire report was not filed. the vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. the cause of the fire was unknown. the vehicle was not inspected for the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 133,000.
Car occasionally stalls on left-handed turns, almost entirely at low speeds -- all power lost. this is potentially very dangerous!! *tr
Tl*the contacts owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the abs indicator would illuminate on the instrument panel intermittently and the vehicle would hesitate to stop when the brakes were applied. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic diagnosed that the anti lock brake module caused the failure to occur. the vehicle was not repaired. the dealer was notified of the failure. the manufacturer was not contacted regarding the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 100,000. the consumer stated the abs light illuminated and the brakes went down to the floor when applied. the consumer stated the brake must be pumped prior to stopping. the brakes would sometimes catch when applied and lock up. the brake pads and sensors were replaced. the vehicle would stall upon acceleration and there was a slight kick coming from the from the front of the vehicle. the front bumper was loose. also, there was an electrical issue underneath the ashtray; the plastic showed signs of melting and the leather on the dashboard showed signs of being parched or smoked. the shift gear would sometimes be too hot to touch. updated 09/07/11
Engine mounts are bad - one is missing. this is a problem with many pacifica owners. abs light came on - this is how it was diagnosed. we have only done urban/highway driving with this vehicle. *tr
My wife was driving on a busy road in salt lake today on a downhill straightaway and our 2005 chrysler pacifica completely stalled. all electronics turned off. all power steering and brakes turned off. she had to push the brakes very hard to get the vehicle to a safe stop and coast to the side of the road. after a brief rest, she was finally able to restart the car and continue her journey, but i no longer feel safe with my wife and children in this car. i called chrysler and they said there are no warnings or recalls for my vehicle. *tr
I purchased a 2005 chrysler pacifica in june of 08. in september i brought the car to a local shop because i noticed the car was not performing well sluggish, clunking noises ect... diagnosis - replace motor and tranny mounts 9/23/2009. in june of 2010 car is in the shop because i hear a clunking everytime i accelerate from a dead stop. diagnosis-replace motor mounts. it is the end of august and i'm hearing the clunking noise, so i went to the dealer and they are telling me all the motor and tranny mounts are broken. i have read hundreds of postings that pacifica owners are having with engine mounts. please can someone do something about this too common problem with pacificas. chrysler knows there is problem because they cannot keep enough of them in stock. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated when driving at various speeds, the vehicle would sporadically begin to lose power. the instrument panel would also intermittently fail. the vehicle was serviced at a local repair facility where the battery was replaced. the mechanic advised that the positive wire was becoming abnormally hot and could potentially cause a fire to occur. in addition, the rear driver side window would intermittently fail to open when engaged. the contact was able to secure an appointment to have the vehicle diagnosed. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure and current mileages were approximately 55,000.

In june of 2010 my wives 2005 chrysler pacifica with about 63000 miles began to make funny noises from the front end it was taken to her uncle who is a mechanic. upon inspection he noticed that the engine cradle had several large holes rusted through the cradle, one was so large that it was 6" x 3" he stated that this is not normal for a part to rust like this and should take it to the dealer where we bought it so the following day we took to roberts chrysler and told that this is not a safety issue and they would replace the craddle for $3500 and when i asked about other pacificas with the same issue is was told that this part is only covered in high salt areas of the us . i live in connecticut. so i contacted chrysler and gave them the vin number and was told that my car was not covered by any warranty. i had then searched online again found many many pacificas with the same issue and several pacificas that had there registrations pulled because the state inspections would not allow these pacificas on the roads because the engines will fall out if this is not a safety issue then what is ? since then the car has had to have the entire front end replaced including ball joint both sides upper and lower all tie rods. in may 2013 my wife called me and told me that she had broken down on the highway doing about 65mph and was stuck in the travel lane and lost the steering and she could not turn the wheel the ct state police arrived and the could see the that she had to really fight to turn the wheel i any direction. we called aaa and was able to get the car off to the shoulder
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while having the vehicle serviced, the mechanic advised him there was a crack found in the engine mount and was a common failure in his year, make and model. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 69,008.
I have 2005 chrysler pacifica. on a routine oil change, the midas service clerk calls me to tell me that all 3 of my motor mounts are broken. the problem is, that i had them all replaced about 1.5 years ago. i come to find out that this is a common problem for these vehicles when i checked online. please press chrysler into fixing this issue. a simple google search for "chrysler pacifica motor mounts" brings up hundreds of individuals complaining of this same issue. *tr
I purchased my car in 2008 and the dealer (sheehy ford) won't even take it back. the engine light stays on and it won't pass inspection. i had to replace the obd connector and it still wouldn't pass inspection. took it back to the inspection station and it failed because of the oxygen sensor, replaced that and took it back for the 3rd time and it failed again because the machine read: monitors not ready. i'm starting to think that the power train and the engine are faulty on my vehicle. sheehy knew they sold me a lemon, i've tried to have them resolve this issue numerous times and nothing. i want them to either fix the problem or give me another car. i reported them to the bbb as well and they never responded to bbb on my complaint. that looks so suspect in my eyes. *tr
I went to a local service/repair facility and was told that the front motor mount on my 2005 chrysler pacifica needs to be replaced. upon some research on-line, i noticed that this is a common problem with this vehicle. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, she heard a ticking sound. the ticking sound seemed to become louder when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing where she was informed that the engine was defective. the current and failure mileages were approximately 46,000.
I have a 2005 chrysler pacifica that has stalled several times while i was driving. most recently it has happened twice in the past two days. one of the occasions was while i was merging onto the interstate. the first couple times this occurred over the past year i just dismissed the problem. now that it seems to become more frequent, i am fearful that it could happen and someone will be hurt. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chrysler pacifica. the contact noticed that the rear passenger side window would not move down and would also slide down on its own. the vehicle was taken to the dealership where the window switch was replaced, however after having the repair the contact noticed that the window would still not move down properly. the failure mileage was at 84083 and the current mileage is 90000.
I was making a left hand turn in a parking garage, while braking and having the ac on, and my 2005 chrysler pacifica stalled. i was able to put it in neutral and restart it, but not sure what happened. *tr
I own a 2005 chrysler pacifica that was bought brand new in october 2004. in october 2009, i was driving home during afternoon rush hour. i noticed my car smoking and attempted just to make it home. about 20 minutes later, my car began to hesitate and turned off once or twice when i stopped at stop lights. eventually, the car shut down completely on a major thoroughfare and would not restart. after being towed to the nearest dealership, i discovered that the radiator hose had been blown off and a hole basically ripped in the coolant jug as a result. repair cost: $564.00. prior to releasing the vehicle, the service technicians noticed how loudly and roughly the car was running and did further tests, to discover that the motor mounts are broken and in need of repair, which caused the problem that i paid nearly $600 to fix. projected cost: an additional $900. that's a total of $1500 for a four-year-old car!!! i've searched and have seen numerous reports of repeated motor mount breaks and problems. called chrysler who basically is turning a blind eye to the numerous complaints. *tr
Own a 2005 pacifica..it has 75000 miles on it. it has 4 bad engine mounts. dealer states "they see alot for this particular model and it is normal." i do not think it is normal that mounts that hold up the engine could fail. *tr
Purchased 2005 chrysler pacifica 2.5 years ago. hard shifting started last sep 2009 56k miles and lunges forward. we will be driving slower speeds, hard shift and sometimes the whole car moves, this would happen daily but, not each time the car was driven. was told by the dealership this is common. this is not common. took car back jan 2010 explaining same issue, they test drove car and said nothing happened. had to go to dealership test drove with transmission tech who drove the car and finally felt what i was talking about. found out front motor mount torn, they replaced the motor mount 60k miles. again, the hard shifting started happening after a couple of months. took vehicle back to dealership. each time i have to explain to them this same issue. each time they tell me that the techtest drives the car and doesn't feel it. june 2010 my husband test drove with the tech and it happened 7 times and the tech states that "no that shouldn't be happening". the tech did a some type of software update. within the week of this it started again, again took it back and again test driving it doesn't find anything wrong. all they do is perform system tests. they hand wrote on receipt "have customer drive and report if problem persists"...well i am reporting again and again they have my car and a tech test drove and states nothing wrong. *tr
