Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a routine maintenance and was told that the front sub frame was corroded and covered with rust. the dealer informed her that there were no recalls or related warranties and that the repairs would cost $5,000 or she could trade the vehicle in for a different one. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 138,000.
2004 chrysler pacifica sub-frame rusting. car has approximately 75,000 miles and is 6 years old. the sub-frame is rusted to the point my mechanic is afraid the engine could drop onto the road. he does not believe there is any reason why this amount of corrosion should occur in a car that is only 6 years old. he states it is a very serious safety hazard. *tr
The subframe on the passenger side of the vehicle is severely corroded. the subframe structure is close to totally pulling away from the portion that connects to the vehicle at the subframe welds and the vehicle pulls to the right. if this happened at speed, a major accident would occur. the driver's side is fine. my analysis leads me to believe that the air conditioning condensate dripping onto the subframe has caused the corrosion. *tr
Was doing oil change and noticed a hole in sub frame/engine cradle. previous oil change noticed nothing other than some rust spots on paint. metal is very thin on the cross member for a subframe that holds engine in place. the sub frame that runs to the front mount and rear mount is much heavier. seen hundreds of complaints online. this seems to be a design flaw rather than normal wear. if this was to fail it would cause serious injury or death. oem part is over $3000, can buy from salvage yard but will have same problem. *tr
I bought a used 2004 pacifica from flagler chrysler in palm coast, fl and the subframe has rusted through so that it is dangerous for me to drive. i contacted the dealer and they say it's because it's a new york vehicle but the salesman told me it was a florida vehicle. i grew up in michigan and never saw a car rust like this! *tr

I'm just another owner of a 2004 chrysler pacifica (86,000miles)with a rusted out sub frame and have just been getting the same run-around and a bunch of sorry's from the company and dealers, someone will have to get hurt or killed before something is done that's the way it works last chrysler i'll ever buy ever or anyone i can reach out to junk!!!!!!!!!!!! *tr
Front subframe of our chrysler pacifica is rusted all the way through car is making a clank noise and is unsafe to drive with 80,000 miles have heard of many many cases of this, the suspension call break off the car or the motor can fall down. *tr
I have a 2004 chrysler pacifica with 50,000 miles on it and i had it inspected last month 7/23/2010 and found that the front sub frame is rusted out and chrysler doesnt want to do anything about it. this is a crock of #$*?! this is a safety issue and it needs to be corrected. i have seen there is so many pacificas with this problem what is it going to take for them to fix it. maybe accidents or even death this is pretty bad. im not going to stop here because i have 5 children and this is not a safe car. *tr
Took my 2004 chrysler pacifica to the inspection point for inspection and reregistration. the inspector pulled the vehicle over the pit and said we've got a major problem, the front end sub-frame is rusted through and the vehicle is "unsafe to operate". i went into the pit so the inspector could show me the problem and the whole passenger side of the sub-frame beam had rusted through. the inspector stated that the piece held the engine and front end to the vehicle and if it broke i'd lose it all. i took the vehicle to the chrysler dealer and got the word back this morning that neither chrysler nor the military exchange new car sales would cover the repairs since the car was almost 6 years old (current mileage: 85600). no sign of damage or rust was reported at the inspection two years ago. *tr

Front sub frame of my 2004 chrysler pacifica is rusted to the point where safety is an issue. *tr
Loud noises heard in the front of our 2004 chrysler pacifica. went to our dealership to have the noise investigated and learned that our subframe had rusted out. the cost to repair would be nearly $3500. chrysler was contacted, but refused to fix the problem, saying the manufacturers warranty had run out. i am stuck with a car that is unsafe to drive, and no recourse. i know i am not alone, that this is a serious problem for many other 2004 pacifica owners as well. the subframe of a car that is 6 years old should not be rusted through. my father dabbles in old car restoration, and his 40-50 year old cars do not have the rust issues i have! chrysler needs to acknowledges this defect, and fix it before someone is seriously hurt. *tr
After bringing my vehicle in for a clunking noise in the front end the mechanic discovered my engine cradle on my 2004 chrysler pacifica with 108,000 miles is falling apart and rusting through. i contacted chrysler and they would not do anything as the vehicle is over their 5 year/100,000 mile warranty. upon further research i have seen several cases of this same issue in canada that is being completely fixed by chrysler. also there was a case in the united states that was repaired by chrysler as well. at 6 years old and only 108,000 miles my vehicle can fall apart underneath at any moment and that is unacceptable, especially since this problem is being fixed without question in canada. *tr
I took my 2004 chrysler pacifica, with 92,000 miles, to get new tires after failing inspection because of the tires. after they put new tires on, they discovered that they could not align them because the subframe was completely rusted through. the mechanic strongly advised that i not drive my car home because it was so unsafe and could break at any time. the only way to fix it is to have a new subframe put in. i have not decided whether it is worth spending thousands to replace the corroded frame. *tr
Flat tire led us to the mechanic only to find the sub-frame/engine cradle was completely rotted through on passenger side. it was also rotted and about to break on driver side. *tr
I have had my 2004 chrysler pacifica for 5 years. in those 5 years i've had to replace the front bumper 3 times. all three times it was during winter during snow fall. i spoke to someone at an auto body this time around and he told me that it is an issue he has seen with the pacifica where if too much weight is put on the front bumper, it comes off. this could potentially cause an accident if it comes off while driving. i contacted chrysler and they said that there was nothing they could do for me as the warranty was up and there was no recall. i am no left having to fix this again for the third time. *tr
I own a chrysler pacifica 2004 awd. the vehicle has had numerous suspension problems, such as a clicking sound and an unstable vehicle. i believe it might be the front cradle of the vehicle but am not sure if this is the exact cause. also, when i brake, the car makes a huge thud sound. i replaced the brakes and rotors as the dealer has done but the noise is still there. please investigate this matter as many other pacifica owners have encountered this. thank you so much. *tr
2004 chrysler pacifica sub-frame is completely rusted through on the right side in front. was told by dealership that the vehicle is unsafe to drive. chrysler needs to take responsibility of this major issue. i am not the only owner who is experiencing this problem, something is drastically wrong! *tr
I own a 2004 chrysler pacifica and it just turned 60,000 miles this week. i brought the car in to my mechanic for an oil change. he called me 1/2 hour later an informed me that my car is unsafe to drive. he informed me he found that there was "severe frame corrosion" under the engine next to the steering rack bolt (there is a rust hole straight through). i would have to replace the whole front frame of the car before it can be driven. i made an appointment with chrysler (spoke with service manager) and they will be looking at the car on tuesday 12/22/2009 but they already informed me there is nothing they can do because it isn't a warranty problem. my fear is that other people with the same car are unaware of this problem and they could be seriously injured or die while driving the car. please help! *tr
Complaint about my 2004 chrysler pacifica. at 70,000 miles i discovered that the engine cradle corroded through is certain areas and heavily rusted in other areas. when discovered i was advised not to drive it any further for fear of the engine or suspension falling out. my first quote was for $4000.00 however, with the help of a nephew we accomplished the replacement of engine cradle for $2600.00. for this condition to develop almost seems criminal. i previously was a forensic photographer for personal injury claims and in fact worked for attorneys who represented chrysler in law suits. it my many (35) years experience, i never witnessed this extensive corrosion on a relatively new vehicle. i hope this complaint will allow me to attach photos. *tr
2004 chrysler pacifica with 72,000 miles. about three months ago started hearing a clunking noise while car was changing gears. i started doing some research on what the problem might be.i found that a lot of other owners were having problems with their motor mounts. i put my car on a lift to inspect it and there was fluid leaking from around the motor mounts. the bushings were completely busted and broken. when i tried to get new parts, the dealership said they were not covered under warranty and were on backorder indefinitely. they say that i should just drive it until they get parts. i have found out from just about every owner of a pacifica that they too have had to replace their motor mounts as well, at their own expense.(around $500) sometimes twice. why hasn't chrysler addressed this as a defect? this is a very costly and dangerous defect that needs to be addressed. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving he heard a grinding noise on the front passenger side of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for inspection. the technician concluded that the sub-frame cracked from corrosion. he then added that it would cost $3000.00 to replace the vehicle. no repairs were made. the manufacturer was notified, but because the warranty expired, no assistance was provided. the failure and current mileages were 75,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated there was a crack in the a frame on the vehicle. an auto center mechanic advised her that there was a crack in the a frame while changing the oil. the dealer confirmed that there was a crack in the a frame and the repair cost would be $1900. the contact stated that she could not afford to pay to have the frame repaired. the manufacturer will be notified. the failure mileage was 60,631.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated the front sub-frame has rusted out. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for an inspection and they confirmed that the sub frame was rusted. the dealer took pictures and inform the contact not to drive the vehicle because it was unsafe. the dealer stated they will contact the manufacturer to check if there are any warranty for this failure. the manufacturer stated they will pay 50% of the cost of the repairs but the contact would have to pay the other 50% . there are no recalls or warranty. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 85,000.
We were told last week that the motor mounts on our 2004 chrysler pacifica were gone. not broken.... gone. i had noticed some front end shaking when i hit the brakes at a high rate of speed. i also noticed that the engine was loud when i would hit the accelerator from a stop. our mechanic discovered that the motor mounts were missing and causing the issues. every time i hit the gas, the engine jumps up a couple of inches. my mechanic called around and was unable to get his hands on any motor mounts at this time. he was told that they are on backorder at this time. i have been doing some research and have found that this is a common problem with pacificas. i have found a site, www.topix.com, has a forum open to list the issues with these cars. over the last couple of years, many people have stated that this part is on back order and can't be found anywhere. one person also said that chrysler is not making the part any more. i find this to be poor business on chrysler's part. i try to buy american, but i have to be honest.... my confidence is failing here. i feel chrysler should do the 'right thing' and make good to all the pacifica owners who are having this same issue. at the very least, make the part!!!!!! *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact took her vehicle in for a routine inspection, but it failed due to excessive rust on the frame. the dealer referred her to a warranty specialist and was informed that the vehicle exceeded its warranty. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 87,000.
While having my front end inspected on my 2004 chrysler pacific, the technician found the frame that holds the engine was rusted on the sub frame. he added not to drive vehicle, except to a dealer ship to have the frame fix. the dealer said it would cost around $4000 dollars and you could not drive the vehicle. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact took her vehicle to the dealer because the steering wheel shakes while driving 65 mph. in addition, a nail was found in the tire. the dealer stated that inner tie rods and tire balancing were needed. they further stated that the engine cradle was corroded. the dealer took pictures to send to the manufacturer so they could be advised on how to proceed. the contact is currently waiting on a return phone call from the manufacturer. the failure mileage was 62,000.
Loud clunking noise coming from engine during starts, stops, and turns. discovered the noise is related to weak motor mounts cracking and breaking. through online research i have discovered hundreds of similar complaints about chrysler pacifica motor mounts. they are not under warranty and the parts are not available due to backorder issues. this is a huge safety issue as motors can come loose during an accident not to mention potential damage to other parts of the vehicle due to the loose motor. chrysler needs to initiate a recall to replace the motor mounts. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. when the contact took the vehicle to the repair shop for a routine oil change, she was informed that the passenger side cradle was corroded. she took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the subframe would need to be replaced at the cost of $4,000. the current and failure mileages were 33,900. updated 12/09/09 *bf updated 12/10/09.*jb
Frame at right front holding engine and wheel assembly rusted through on my 2004 chrysler pacifica. something like this should never happen on a 4 1/2 year old car with 43,780 miles on it, and always kept in the garage, and promptly serviced at all times. the same problem happened recently to our friends on their 2004 chrysler pacifica, this definitely is a problem on those cars. i'm sure that if that happened on two cars there are most likely a lot more on the road waiting for a disaster to happen. the dealer and his staff that serviced my car advised me not to drive it any more. since there was no new part available for several weeks i had to buy another car. chrysler informed the dealer that part is not covered under warranty even under the extended warranty i purchased . *tr
The sub frame is rotting, has a hole the size of my fist and a crack. *tr
Went in for an oil change and was asked to come into the shop (tate) glenburnie, md and was shown the frame of my car on the passenger side was rusted out and actually split. was told it's not covered by chrysler and a new frame was $3,000.00 plus labor of about $1,000.00. was told the car was unsafe to drive. had to rent a car till i figure out what to do. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact has been taking his vehicle to the dealer for an oil change and service ever since it was purchased. the dealer stated that the frame of his vehicle was rusted through and failed. the vehicle was unable to be driven and the contact must pay for the repair costs. the dealer never warned him of any failures. the manufacturer stated that they could not assist. the vehicle is still at the dealer awaiting repair. the failure mileage was 71,000. updated 02/06/09 *bf the vehicle pulled to the left. the dealer performed an alignment and replaced the tie rod ends. updated 02/06/09. *jb
04 chrysler pacifica was struck on the passenger side by a semi, as a result of that the pacifica then struck the guard rail on its drivers side. the impact was great enough to break multiple windows, take a tire completely off its rim, and yet the side airbags did not come out. *tr
2004 chrylser pacifica engine cradle rusted out, tie rod replaced about one yr ago. dealer won't cover cost d/t warranty expired. 53,000 miles on car. major safety issue d/t engine/trans could fall out while driving. instructed only to drive car if necessary. avoid bumps! have found multiple c/o on internet on same matter. i should not have to pay for poor quality of metal used on frame work. *tr
