Took our 2004 pacifica in today for an alignment to fix the shaking when the car is driven on the highway and was told that an alignment would be a waste of money due to the rusted out frame under the car. hadn't heard a single word about this issue until today. we've had this car since 2005, bought with 12, 000 miles on it and now it has 85, 000. still not bad for a car that is 11 years old and the body and interior are in very good shape. now what to do?!!! thank you firestone for being honest and not charging us for your time. (can i mention that the car has been in for repairs about a year ago for another issue to a chrysler dealership and not a word was spoken about this!!!) the engine mounts, k-frame is badly rusted to the point the suspension is out of alignment and cannot be adjusted. the car is unsafe to drive. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while driving at approximately 65 mph, there was a noise emerging from the engine area. the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was a hole on the engine cradle caused by rust. the entire engine frame was rusted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. updated 09/10/15*lj *cn

I went to go wash my 2004 pacifica and when i got down on my hands and knees to wash the tires i noticed some rust under car so i got on my back and looked under my car and noticed my whole subframe was completely rusted out on both sides.i'm not to happy and i feel as if their should be a law suit filed.i have since read complaints and so far i havnt come across one person who lives in a snow state were the roads are salted in winter who have not had a rusted sub frame on their pacifica.i don't know what the hold up is with chrysler fixing what they sold to us!!!

Letter from senator garrett on behalf of constituent re 2004 chrysler pacifica airbag. *smd the consumer stated the air bag panel opened and the air bag could be seen. the dealer informed the consumer, there was no issue with the air bag itself. *jb

Was looking underneath my 2004 chrysler pacifica and noticed a hole in the engine cradle (sub frame). took vehicle to my local chrysler service department for evaluation of engine cradle. service manager stated after evaluation of vehicle that engine cradle has a perforation (hole) in it. this is a safety issue because engine cradle could break while driving and cause an accident.. he looked up service bulletin number 13-001-12 . the service bulletin states chrysler will fix vehicles built between february 23, 2004 through march 31, 2004. when service manager looked up build date for my vehicle, it was built on february 16, 2004. since my vehicle was built 6 days before february 23 he could not fix vehicle under warranty. he advised me to call chrysler customer service. i did so on may 29,2015. they refused to fix it under warranty because it was built 6 days before febraury 23. when i asked to speak with her supervisor, she refused saying ,he will refuse claim. this is a major safety issue. if engine cradle breaks while driving, your suspension will break collapsing the wheel under the vehicle causing loss of control of vehicle. this could lead to serious injury and possibly death of occupants of vehicle and other vehicles that may be involved in accident. on the safercar.gov site many people have filed complaints for the same problem. please order a recall of the 2004 chrysler pacifica for this problem. chryler won't do it unless forced to do so. nhtsa please do what is right and order a recall for this problem. thank you

The front engine cradle part of the frame is almost completely rusted through. this is the identical rust claimed under the chrysler pacifica rusted engine cradle lawsuit that was filed in the united states district court for the southern district of ohio-eastern division - holland, jr. et al v. fca us llc. this is also the same rust covered in the chrysler tsb bulletins.

The sub frame of my 2004 pacifica is rusted very bad with holes in the frame. my mechanic says it is unsafe to drive. chrysler says they will not be able to assist with the repair.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was being serviced for routine maintenance at an independent mechanic, the contact was informed that the subframe of the vehicle was severely corroded. the contact was informed that the vehicle was unsafe and should not be driven. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 126,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was being inspected, the independent mechanic diagnosed that the passenger side of the engine cradle had a hole that rusted through. as a result, the engine cradle needed to be repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 92,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while at an independent mechanic for repairs, the technician diagnosed that the entire sub frame was corroded and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.

The engine cradle of the 2004 pacifica has rusted severely. one side appears to be all the way through while the other side is about 3/4 of the way through. vehicle is unsafe to drive. *tr

2004 chrysler pacifica, original owner, 60306 miles. car was being serviced and the subframe has almost completely rusted out, making the car undriveable. contacted local dealer and was given chrysler cust service number. car built in sept 2003, said dos not qualify for chrysler (apparently secret) extended warranty. filed a complaint with chrysler, but they will not provide any reply to their "review" . we were fortunate that we were not seriously injured, or killed as a result of this quality issue..... and subsequent refusal to correct by chrysler. anyway to investigate this consumer safety issue? *tr

Every 3,000 miles a oil change and regular maintenance to my car has been done, in april of this year when they put it on the lift noticed all the big rust holes underneath. the mechanic did not want me to leave with it said it was not safe. within a month it is busted. *tr

I was feeling a shimmy in the car when i was going downhill and applying my brakes. i took it to my mechanic where he lifted it up and discovered that the sub frame rotted in half and is falling apart. his advice was no to drive it until it was repaired because the part that is almost rusted through holds up the rear of the engine and the front of the transmission. he said it was unsafe to drive in the condition it is in and with it being a 2004 chrysler pacifica with 115252 miles on it there should not be this much rust. i immediately contacted chrysler group llc and was informed that they can only go by my vin number and that with my vin number there were no recalls about this problem and that there was nothing she could do. *tr

My 2004 pacifica was recently in for oil change when mechanic said the engine sub frame is starting to rust out and this will not pass inspection. i was told to go to junk yard to find sub frame and someone will need to install it. i have seen a lot of complaints about pacifica sub frame rust and even a class action suit filled in ohio in jan 2015. will chryslyer cover this issue?

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the subframe needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 78,000. the vin was not available.

Brought my car into chrysler dealer for regular maintenance and they called me to say that they would not release the car to me because the entire subframe was rusted and rotted out in spots. dealer told me the car is a total loss as the repair is $6500 (blue book value ~$3500) and this problem is very common but unfortunately there's no recall. i called chrysler and the just said i am out of warranty and they will not help, goodbye. *tr

Bought car in for routine oil change and was informed of severe rust on k frame assembly and that car was dangerous to drive

Chrysler did not properly coat the engine cradles which allowed rust to damage the cradles and create a serious safety defect. during a routine inspection, my mechanic discovered the engine cradles were rusting out. the engine cradles were replaced before the engine fell through.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the undercarriage of the vehicle was rusted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 163,302.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the subframe was rusted and cracked. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 158,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while an independent mechanic was performing routine maintenance on the vehicle, it was discovered that the subframe was severely corroded. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 107,339.

Sub chassis frame assembly rusted and corroded. was found when taken in for a routine oil change. was advised should not be driven in current condition. *tr

During a routine oil change, it was noted that the engine sub frame is rusted through and needs replaced. i have searched and this seems to be a common problem that the company isn't dealing with in a fair manor. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while driving at 30 mph, the vehicle jerked and the contact heard a noise coming from the front of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine cradle was corroded and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 120,000. the vin was unavailable.

My steering wheel started to jerk to the right when accelerating and it was hard to keep the car on the road. it felt like the front wheels were going to fall off. i took the car to the shop and they informed me that the sub structure cradle was rusted through and had failed. this also took out the transmission mount and idler arm. had i been going any faster when this failed it may have caused the car to swerve into on coming traffic. *tr

My wife was pulling away from a traffic light and the steering locked up. she was able to stop before crashing. what i found was very disturbing. the rear engine cradle mounts had separated. causing the engine cradle to contact the ground on acceleration also the steering track which is attached to this cradle became non-functional. the center ripped out of both rear mounts and there is no mechanical stop to prevent the cradle from separating from the body of the car with amount failure. this cradle had been replaced under aa warranty 14 months and 11,000 mi.earlier. i had the vehicle taken to a chrysler dealership, they informed me that the front cradle mounts were also separated and they could not put the car on the lift to pick it up due safety reasons and the engine cradle would come out from under the car. i contacted chrysler customer service and after about a week they informed me that they would warranty the mounts and no labor and only if the repairs are done at the dealer. the cost of the parts is minimal in comparison to the total cost of the repair and what could very easily have happened if the mounts had failed in a different situation at a much higher speed and not on a city street. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection where the mechanic discovered that the vehicle had experienced severe rusting and corrosion to the engine cradle and sub frame. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 73,000.

Engine cradle has rusted a big whole through. *tr

This vehicle engine cradle assembly is rusty with in 8 years of operation. rusty engine cradle causes safety concern for the driver and other vehicles operating near 2004 chrysler pacifica on the road because the engine can fall out of the vehicle during operation. many pacifica owners on line complained about this issue. *tr

I recently took my 2004 pacifica to my mechanic to get an oil change and he advised me that my subframe was rusted, rotted and cracked with holes. he said he had never seen anything like that in his many years as a mechanic. he also took pictures of it to show me. i contacted the local chrysler and the headquarters and advised them of the same. they said that they were aware of the problem but couldn't help me because my vehicle's age was over 10 years old. i explained to them what the mechanic said and that the part was defective not because of the age of the car but because of the defective part. they do not stand by their product because they said that because of the age of my vehicle that they would not be able to help me. however, i am aware that some local customers in my area had their subframes replaced by chrysler "free of charge", because the parts employee told me. he said that pictures of their vehicles were taken while on the lift and submitted to chrysler and they were given authorization to replace the parts. however, they would not accommodate me because i didn't have an extended warranty with them. chrysler picks and choses the customers that they want to help. although my vehicle is 10 years old and i don't have an extended warranty with chrysler, i always have maintained the use of my vehicle with regular oil changes, tune-ups, brake repairs, etc. with a privately owned mechanic. there is no reason that my vehicle should have a rusted, rotted part like this especially since i do not live in a flood zone area. *tr

My pacifica has a rusted out sub frame on front passenger side of car. from my understanding there was a recall done for those but only included 6 weeks worth of vehicles made but the problem is much broader than the 6 weeks worth of cars. i have been told by three different reputable mechanics that my car is unsafe to drive because it is so rusted through you can put your hand through it. i have 3 small children and this is our family car. chrysler needs to be held accountable for this before there are people that die because their engine falls out while they are driving! i do have pictures that were taken yesterday. something needs to be done about this!

Dealing with a rotted k-frame crossmember for the front engine cradle; has caused the whole suspension to fail, effecting steering components, as well as, wearing out other parts such as, engine mounts and front end bushings on a car with less than 100,000 miles on it. *tr

After having my front tires replace my mechanic showed me pictures of what was left of my frame from rust and rot. he said i had 2 choices weld or replace. i took it to a welder who has welded for 35 years and could repair most anything. after inspecting my frame he said there was not enough metal left to make a weld that would hold and stated if it were his car he would get rid of it now. so i had a frame ordered. all i'm looking for is to be reimbursed for my expenses. *tr

I went to have routine oil change and was told by the tech, that the engine cradle and frame were severely corroded from rust. his recommendation was to have it taken care immediately, it could possibly be unsafe. *tr

I took my 2004 chrysler pacifica to have routine maintanence done on it. i was told from my mechanic that my frame was rusty, rotten and had holes in it. he went on to say that it is dangerous to be driving as the frame of the car in an accident will not be effective and would basically crumble. he said to immediately take it to a chrysler dealership and have them look at it. i took it as told to the dealership and they did confim my mechanics finding. they handed me a phone # to chrysler. i called and got the run around again and again. yes they are aware of the problem, but my car isnt included in the 7000 to be fixed. but yes it has the same issues, but no we cant help you. it is a $2500 fix that chrysler is well aware of. i have poured over online articles, news casts, all concluding the same thing. some get fixed and some dont. i was told by my dealership to file a comlaint, keep on complaining and hope chrysler will help. it is a safety concern in driving my car, there is no safety in my car right now, nor is there any value to my car as even the dealership has told me... they cannot take it in on trade or anything else for that matter as it is unsafe. help!!!! it appears that only the people that get any help are the ones that go to the press/news etc. *tr

The engine cradle, was riddled with corrosion and rust. during the driving the vehicles vibrate. my car in for routine maintenance, we are discovering that subframe and engine cradle rust. this is actually driving time bombs. *tr

Wife and daughter in car when subframe cracked.this a problem with these model but chrysler has denied to me they had any knowledge of the issie when i contacted them. *tr

The underside engine cradle subframe of my 2004 chrysler pacifica is rotted and in danger of breaking apart. i can hear noise when steering and the car has a vibration. *tr

After multiple hard clunk sounds after braking, we investigated the underbody of our pacifica. the frame has severe rust and some good sized holes present. we are concerned that the engine cradle is unsafe and will not hold the engine securely. this car has no rust on the exterior paint, only the under carriage is rusting out. this car has been garage kept and maintained, so there is no reason this should be occurring. *tr

Had a vibration. took the vehicle in for inspection and the front subframe/ engine cradle is corroded and has a huge rust hole. a friend of mine has one of these. they got theirs inspected and theirs has an issue too!! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was having an oil change performed, the technician noticed that the passenger side subframe started to corrode. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 104,000.
