K-frame is rotted out not safe to drive engine could fall out
I was driving on a city street and i was turning at a stop light when my car made a very strange sound. i could not steer the car so i pulled over and upon looking underneath the vehicle and under the hood the motor had shifted due to a rotting cradle mount.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while driving approximately 55 mph in the rain, the instrument panel lighting and the abs indicator began to flash. in addition, the windshield wipers stopped working, the vehicle suddenly jolted forward, and stalled. the next day, after restarting the engine, the vehicle operated normally. the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. the failure mileage was 150,000.
We own a 2004 chrysler pacifica with around 117k miles on it. my daughter drives it. while changing the engine oil on it last weekend, i noticed severe corrosion (perforation actually) of the vehicle engine cradle. the passenger side of the cross member is rusted completely through on the bottom and the driver side is about 70% rusted through. as this cross member is what holds the engine in the vehicle and acts as the base of the front suspension, i don't believe this vehicle is safe to drive anymore. should this structural component fail during highway driving, i believe the vehicle would become unstable and uncontrollable which would be a hazard to the driver, passengers and other motorists. yes, we live in wisconsin (part of the salt belt), but this amount of corrosion on such a crucial structural component is crazy! the vehicle has only been on the road for 14 yrs and for only 117k mi. i would understand if the body started to deteriorate in that amount of time, but not a supporting frame member. i don't believe the engine cradle was properly treated against corrosion, or the design of the cradle made it susceptible to excessive localized corrosion and the manufacturer should be held liable for repairs.
Chrysler dealership serviced my car with a oil change. i was told my car was unsafe to drive due to motor mount rusted. i had to sign a papers that this car is unsafe to drive, they can't release the car to me. frame is rotted and unsafe to drive. i didn't expect this and wasn't ready to buy another car. i don't know if this problem was a recall for chrysler pacifica. thankfully i was told before something happened.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact arrived home and was notified by an eyewitness, approximately 15-20 minutes later, that smoke was coming from the vehicle. the contact observed major smoke and flames underneath the front of the vehicle. the fire department was called and determined that the fire started from the engine area. a fire report was filed. the fire department extinguished the fire. there were no injuries. the vehicle was still parked outside of the owner's home. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. it was not determined whether or not the vehicle was destroyed. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
I have chrysler pacifica 2004. have taken good care of vehicle, no accidents. vehicle began shaking violently when driving down road. i have brand new tires . had them rebalanced couple of times . still vibrating violently. my mechanic could not find any problems except that engine cradle for engine is badly rotted out with rust. i looked on line for problem and see that chrysler had not properly coated the engine cradle and has led to frequent problems and dangerous driving conditions, due that the engine could fall out of vehicle. this is of no fault to owner. i didnt feel safe driving a vehicle that the motor could fall out of. this is a safety issue that chrysler should be responsible for. a consumer should not have to worry that there seat belt or air bag might fail and they definitely shoudnt have to worry about there engine falling out of there car while driving down the road, which could lead to a wreck or fire. thank you for your time and consideration.
Engine cradle rusted out to the point the engine dropped. my daughter was driving home from work on i94west out of milwaukee when she heard a clunk. she was able to dive to our restaurant and park. i had the vehicle towed to an auto mechanic and that is when he told me that it engine cradle was rusted out.
A popping sound coming from the front end when turning while mageing turns. it is so loud you think something fell off. this has been happing for at least 4 years i always take it to the shop and they say they caint find anything wrong but i know it is the shop keep computer records so i know they will have the times i kept returing with this problem it never do it when i take it so they say they caint digonose my problem. you will never know when it will make that loud popping sound but when it dose it you will be starteld you because you think your wheel is off. it also will not start occasionaly you never know when this will happen i replace my battery every year because it will kill your battery all the time .i have replaced my gas pumps they went out 5 years ago
Engines stalls intermittently while driving then shutters and continues to run. happens 3 to 4 times during say a 25 mile drive . i feel it is very unsafe . also stalls at idle at stop sign but restarts immediately and runs as if nothing happened . i got online to see if others had similar problem and seen other similar problems where they said it was software related and had to go to dealership to be reprogrammed.
I purchased a used vehicle from a local auto dealership on january 30, 2017. after driving the vehicle everyday for about a week i began noticed the car would shake and pull to the left even while driving at very slow speeds.on february 23, 2017 i took the newly purchased chrysler pacifica in for an oil change. i received a call from the mechanic about 15 mins after i dropped the vehicle off and he informed me that my front engine cradle was severely rusted and if i continued to drive it the engine could fall out at any minute. i rushed back to the location that my vehicle was being serviced and i was shocked at how bad the engine cradle actually was. there was at least an inch gap indicating it was beginning to separate from the body of the car. i took pictures of the damage and emailed them to the dealer that sold me the vehicle. i also did a quick internet search for front engine cradle damage in 2004 chrysler pacifica's and came across numerous consumer complaints having the same issues with 2004 pacifica's. i also found chrysler previously issued an extended warranty to resolve defective engine cradles for owners residing in salt belt states and vehicles with under 150k miles. confident that my vehicle qualified for the extended warranty i contacted chrysler directly. i was informed by the chrysler representative that the pacifica i currently own does not qualify to receive repairs under the extended warranty because it was built in january of 2004 and warranty only covers front engine cradle damage to vehicles that were built after february 23, 2004 and before march 31, 2004.
I drove to my friends house, and 15 minutes later my car was engulfed in flames! the fire chief said it was an electrical problem that started the fire. my car was not running, and i was not in it.
Took my pacifica in to get hose looked at and some new tires. was called and told to come get my car and park it. was told that engine cradle had rust and rot and that it was not safe to drive. i've had this car for almost 10 years and had never heard of this. i drive every day and need my car.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while approaching a stop, the vehicle stalled and the check engine light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the error codes as p401 and p172. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure was related to nhtsa campaign numbers: 03v471000 (fuel system) and 04v113000 (power train). the failure mileage was 160,000.

I was driving and my children smelled smoke. i pulled over and opened the hood and saw a fire. a stranger stopped and tried putting it out with a fire extinguisher but it caught on so quickly that there was no chance. i suffered a complete loss since the entire car was engulfed in flames.
Takata recall vehicle will not stay fired up as soon as soon as throttle is relased car dies immediately, sometimes not starting back up for 15-40 minutes, replaced idle air control, replaced throttle postion sensor, replaced all spark plugs, ran a fuel cleaner, and replaced alternator, car still will not stay turned over and still will nnot idle, if throttle and rpm drop car wil die in traffic sitting in drive way hasn't matterd where happens everywhere
The cooling system for the car does not work correctly. after a steady idle of about 5 minutes, the car will begin to get hot and the fans will kick on. two minutes later it will do it again. the system it self seems ok, but the fan is constantly on and off. the motor get s so hot that the hood on my car is starting to turn. next is the airbags. the airbag light for the passenger side is always on indicating a failure. the bag has never been deployed? now the biggest problem is the top end of the motor. my check engine lights keeps coming on. keeps saying misfire on cylinder 4. everything has been replaced and i still get this code? my vehicle gets it regular maintenance and my mechanic said my car should not having these problems.
I recently purchased a used 2004 pacifica. while getting the oil changed for the first time i was informed by the technician that the engine cradle / sub-frame was showing severe corrosion. i spoke to chrysler the next day and was informed that even though this is a known issue, and chrysler did issue a consumer satisfaction bulletin and extend the warranty up to 150000 miles on this item that my vehicle was outside that and they would not honor the warranty repair. even though the previous owner did not have the work completed under the warranty extension.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacific. the contact stated that while replacing tires on the vehicle by a service station, it was informed that the engine cradle of the vehicle had corroded. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 114,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for routine maintenance and it was discovered that the engine cradle had excessive rust and fractures and needed to be replaced. the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not safe to drive. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 101,300.
The front subframe known as the "engine cradle" is severely rusting out. this is a known issue by chrysler on 2004-2005 pacificas. there was an inadequate coating of the metal which leads to premature rusting. in 2010 chrysler issued an extended warranty for this, but only for cars built in a six week period in 2004. this only covered a small fraction on the cars affected. chrysler never sent information to owners warning of this or offering suggestions on maintenance of this issue. as a result, thousands of pacifica owners like myself are left with cars unsafe to drive and unable to sell because of the severity of the issue. the response from chrysler (fac) when you contact them is "sorry, it is not under warranty".
Upon taking my vehicle to be serviced after purchase 1 day ago, the mechanic discovered that the engine cradle was rusted out on the right side. this is the only rust on the underside of the vehicle. i am currently in discussions with the dealer to remedy this issue, but have discovered that this is a frequent problem.
I put my 2004 chrysler pacifica in the shop on 8/24/2015 for an oil change and inspection and to my surprise was told the "subframe is rotting out". my mechanic stated this is a common problem for the pacifica. i did some research and found a considerable amount of complaints for the same exact issue. apparently, chrysler provided an extended warranty for a very small number of cars effected by this safety hazard. chrysler is not taking this defect seriously; should provide corrective action before fatalities occur.
I have an 04 chrysler pacifica with a severely rusted engine cradle. i was told by a mechanic at goodyear while trying to get an alignment that my cradle was too rusted to do the alignment. he then said this is a known issue with chrysler pacificas. i did some research and found a letter that was issued to owners of pacificas regarding this problem. however, i did not receive the letter. so i called the chrysler complaint line and spoke with someone who gave me a case # and told me i would need to have the issue verified by a chrysler dealer and then they would look into paying for the repair. i took it to my dealer who verified the repair and took several pictures. i had not heard any thing back so i called back to the complaint line about my case#. at that time i spoke with another csr who informed me that my vehicle was not one of the affected vehicles . when questioned why not and which vehicles were affected she said she did not know. but, said it definately was not mine. i was extremely upset as i had been previously told if the issue was a rusted cradle and verified by a chrysler dealer i would be able to get assistance, hopefully on the entire repair. i am not sure what to do now as this is an expensive repair $5000 - $6000. the lady said well you need to put money into a vehicle that is 10 years old. i said i have. i have had other issues with the vehicle also. but, that is for another time. i am so upset with chrysler as i read the whole problem was they forgot to put drain holes in the cradle. not sure what to do from here.
My pacifica has an exhaust problem i hear an exhaust noise and smell fumes inside of vehicle.
My car has begun to shake. i just got back from the mechanic, who explained that the engine cradle is severely corroded and rusted with several holes in it. he printed up the recall information concerning this, which i never received or knew about ... and which doesn't cover my car. i have $2,000 worth of work needed to make my car safe that chrysler should be paying for. i am completely sick of paying out of pocket to fix things on my car that have been recalled, but my car isn't covered under. i am absolutely livid at this point!!!
Just brought our car to the shop for an oil change and they informed us that our engine craddle is so badly rooting that we have to spend $2300 to repair. i have heard chrysler new about this and is doing nothing about it because our car was built in aug of 2004. that is horrible !!!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to replace the starter. the contact was informed that the motor cradle was corroded and the starter was unable to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 200,000. updated 8/19/15*cn
While in for an oil change i was informed that the engine cradle has rusted through. i was told the same thing last year also. i was informed that now it has rusted through to where it may not be safe to drive since the engine could shift on the rusted engine cradle and cause an accident. looking online i see that many 2004, 2005 pacificas have this problem and many have been told by chrysler corp., as i was last year, that my vehicle was not manufactured within the 2 months where they say they had manufacturing problems and had fixed those that they say were defective. chrysler has repaired many pacifica engine cradles, according to information online, but only after having an outside investigating agency like a tv station or other entity getting involved. this apparently is a dangerous situation that chrysler does not want to address with a recall or repair. my request for repair is on file with chrysler corp. from my contact with them last year.
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was being inspected, the independent mechanic diagnosed that the passenger side of the engine cradle had a hole that rusted through. as a result, the engine cradle needed to be repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 92,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while driving at 40 mph, the tires squealed and the vehicle veered to the right. upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the front passenger side wheel leaned inwards. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the engine cradle was corroded and fractured. the technician diagnosed that the strut, strut mount, tie rod, and engine cradle needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 130,000.
2004 chrysler pacifica, original owner, 60306 miles. car was being serviced and the subframe has almost completely rusted out, making the car undriveable. contacted local dealer and was given chrysler cust service number. car built in sept 2003, said dos not qualify for chrysler (apparently secret) extended warranty. filed a complaint with chrysler, but they will not provide any reply to their "review" . we were fortunate that we were not seriously injured, or killed as a result of this quality issue..... and subsequent refusal to correct by chrysler. anyway to investigate this consumer safety issue? *tr
My 2004 pacifica was recently in for oil change when mechanic said the engine sub frame is starting to rust out and this will not pass inspection. i was told to go to junk yard to find sub frame and someone will need to install it. i have seen a lot of complaints about pacifica sub frame rust and even a class action suit filled in ohio in jan 2015. will chryslyer cover this issue?
I have a 2004 chrysler pacifica, i love the way the car handles. but it is costing me a fortune. i recently took it to be inspected and was told that the engine cradle has rotted on the passenger side. i have replaced the front suspension, stabilizers, and brakes numerous times in the last couple of years now the engine cradle needs to be replaced and there is no recall on it, yet it is an extreme safety problem. this is a replacement that could cost up to $4000. it is just not worth the trouble. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that while driving at 15 mph, the engine stalled. the vehicle was taken to a dealer , who diagnosed that the power control module needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. while the vehicle was being serviced by an independent mechanic for an unrelated issue, the technician stated that the engine cradle was corroded. also, the mechanic diagnosed that the engine cross member needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 140,000.
Chrysler did not properly coat the engine cradles which allowed rust to damage the cradles and create a serious safety defect. during a routine inspection, my mechanic discovered the engine cradles were rusting out. the engine cradles were replaced before the engine fell through.
I drive a 2004 chrysler pacifica. i was driving a couple of days ago and i heard a noise under the hood that was abnormal. the noise continued every little bump, turn, etc. i took my car into the mechanic and he said that my engine cradle has rusted almost completely through the metal. he mentioned that chrysler had issued a recall on certain models and when i called chrysler they told me that my car was not covered in the recall. upon researching the topic, i found that it is a very common occurrence with 2004 and 2005 pacificas and several others are experiencing the same problem that i am as far as chrysler refusing to fix the cradle. i just purchased my vehicle on may 9th, 2014 for $6,000 and i am being expected to put $3,500 of work into it not even a year later? there is no way that chrysler should see any of this situation ethical considering there are so many of us with this problem. can someone please help me get through to chrysler and get my vehicle back into driving conditions? *tr
Engine cradle is very rusted through, need to repair, receiving estimates of $3,000. *tr

This vehicle engine cradle assembly is rusty with in 8 years of operation. rusty engine cradle causes safety concern for the driver and other vehicles operating near 2004 chrysler pacifica on the road because the engine can fall out of the vehicle during operation. many pacifica owners on line complained about this issue. *tr
My pacifica has a rusted out sub frame on front passenger side of car. from my understanding there was a recall done for those but only included 6 weeks worth of vehicles made but the problem is much broader than the 6 weeks worth of cars. i have been told by three different reputable mechanics that my car is unsafe to drive because it is so rusted through you can put your hand through it. i have 3 small children and this is our family car. chrysler needs to be held accountable for this before there are people that die because their engine falls out while they are driving! i do have pictures that were taken yesterday. something needs to be done about this!
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chrysler pacifica. the contact stated that the engine cradle fractured. the contact mentioned that the vehicle had never been involved in a crash. the dealer was made aware of the issue. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 111,362. mailed out 01/13/15*lj
