Took my car to have a plastic front panel put back on. the repairman sent me pictures of the engine cradle rusted out. told me the car was unsafe to drive until it was fixed. contacted local chrysler dealer and gave me information to contact customer service. called customer service and my vehicle was outside the coverage described on bulletin 13-001-12 issued on mar 16, 2012 by chrysler. they were not able to provide any relief on the repairs which will be between $3500 and $4000 depending on parts cost. my vehicle was built september 18, 2003, and put in service on december 22, 2003. the service bulletin only covered vehicles from feb 23, 2004 to mar 31, 2004. i am sure my vehicle is in the same category as the covered vehicles, same rust problem, same areas of the car, etc. *tr

While in for inspection in june '14, we were advised by the mechanic that the engine cradle assembly had rusted through and was unsafe - they would not pass it through inspection. otherwise, the car is in excellent condition, and has been maintained properly throughout our ownership. our research indicates this is a problem with the initial factory paint application - it was defective and allowed for premature corrosion of the cradle assembly. there are many instances of this posted on the internet (some of which have been addressed by chrysler - but not all). this is dangerous and something should be done before accidents start happening (especially with children involved given this vehicle is a minivan). *js

This car has a serious rust issue on the undercarriage. it starts on the subframe then works its way to the frame of the car. there front suspension has been replaced 3 times in the month alone. due to this issue i have in regards to this, i can't jack my car up with the jack that comes with the care, if i do it will go right thru that is what it feels like to me.. i can not get a rear alignment on my car because of the rust and my tired have worn or day. if anyone knows anything could they please help i am feed up with this care.. *tr

On march 29, 2014, my 2004 chrysler pacifica, purchased in august 2003, was inspected and diagnosed, by the dealership where it was purchased, to have a subframe/engine cradle that is "rotting" or in other words, severely cracked and corroded. i was not informed of this serious safety issue with my vehicle by chrysler. i was informed by a recent investigative story on the local chicago nbc station, followed by internet research of the issue. i called the customer service number given to me for chrysler and was told that there is nothing they can do to assist with the $2600 cost of replacement, because the vehicle was not made in the narrow window of production that they claim was affected and subject to recall. chrysler told me the warranty they offered, related to the recall, was expired for my vehicle anyway. i never received any notification of the problem or that warranty, because they were keeping this problem a secret to most of their affected customers. i have read that chrysler also apparently selectively decides who to help with the cost of repairs, regardless of their recall window and warranty, after the customer makes enough noise. if it is not their fault, why are they doing that? isn't this the same type of behavior that toyota and chevrolet have exhibited? the nbc report also indicates that nhtsa sees no pattern with the numerous claims you have received outside of the supposed recall window, like this one, how many people have to be put at grave risk before you see a pattern? you might see a pattern if more people knew they are driving unsafe pacificas, so that they could report it. sorry if i am being a bit pointed here, but the i don't understand how chrysler and nhtsa can ignore this issue. please reconsider your recall decision, as chrysler's liability is certainly more than a couple months of production. *tr

During an inspection my mechanic informed me that the engine cradle is rusted thru. the cradle is so rusted that he is afraid that the engine will fall out of the car. i have always been a chrysler guy but this is bad! *tr

On thursday, january 30th, my 2004 chrysler pacifica was taken to jack williams tire and auto service center in camp hill, pa because of a drivability vibration and/or shake. the mechanic called and said, you were lucky to get the vehicle here in one piece; the engine cradle is so badly corroded that you are lucky that the engine did not drop out of the vehicle. he would not release the vehicle until the engine cradle was replaced because of this severe safety issue. on saturday, february 1, 2014, i did some research only to find that this is not news to the chrysler group llc . . . . in a letter dated november 9, 2010, chrysler group llc states this is an issue with some vehicles, especially those driven in areas of high salt usage on roadways. the letter informs owners that the warranty period for the front engine cradle (of chrysler pacifica model years 2004 thru 2005) has been extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles whichever occurs first. i did email chrysler group llc customer assistance about my situation and my request for reimbursement and the response i received was: the vehicle has exceeded the time and/or mileage limitations of the warranty. since my vehicle is 2004 and under 150,000 miles i sent a letter to them asking them to please review their decision and in a letter dated 2/21/2014 i received a letter with one sentence stating "after thoroughly reviewing your request and our files on this matter, we respectfully concur with our previous decision." this is an extreme safety issue. the mechanic said that our engine could have dropped out while we were driving and i have 3 children - - i would hate to even think about what would or could have happened if that would have happened! *tr

Bought this vehicle used, 11 months ago and have had it serviced regularly. recently it started hesitating and shutting off at random, usually at lower speeds, but recently at higher speeds too, mechanic could find nothing. had to have it towed to local garage after extreme cold snap because it wouldn't start. it had been flooded. had oil changed and plugs changed, and mechanic found the engine cradle corrosion, as many other have reported. just a matter of time before it is unsafe to drive, and the hesitating continues. i have contacted chrysler 3 times on this, and they continue to tell me that my car is way over the mileage and not within the extended warranty time frame. it is obviously a design flaw, and the parts made with inferior materials. please issue a recall to include all pacificas and make chrysler take responsibility for this. *tr
Husband took car in to have motor mounts fixed. have been bad since we bought the car, on 1/28/12. along with a lot of other issues we didn't understand. ac stopped working. stalled while driving 55 mph., always shook after a certain speed, electrical, car jerked forward at a stop, tire pressure always read 2-3 tires low even after having new tires put on and aligned. defog never worked. weird sound in front of suspension, power train module, etc., etc. but the worst of all is when we tried to have the motor mounts fixed back in december . car guy fixed motor mounts, husband drove car home, later that night went with kids for ice cream, came out and car would not start. had it towed back, worked on it forever could not figure out, then had it towed again 2 weeks later, to another shop, where they said the car was done! the engine cradle was so rusted that they wouldn't even let us take the car, because it was so bad! not sure if i am under the extended warranty, but would hope that chrysler takes care of all the people, who have endured all of these problems, and expenses associated with all! before someone gets really really hurt, dies, or kills someone else! *tr

I have almost been in four accidents in the past week and a half due to my 2004 chrysler pacifica stalling in the middle of intersections and roads without warning. as i accelerate the car starts to hesitate, sputter and then just dies out. the last time it did this in the middle of a busy road with cars going by at 50mph, i had two good samaritans and two police officers that were nearby help me to safety where i had to have the vehicle towed back to my home where it sits today. the first time it happened the check engine light came on, it said bad crankshaft sensor, so i replaced it. the second time it happened it said bad camshaft, so i replaced it. the third time it happened it said bad camshaft sensor again, so i replaced thinking i bought a defective one. this did not work either as the car ended up stalling for good two days ago. i know there have been recalls in the past for this exact stalling condition of the engine, but chrysler says my car did not show up as one of the recalled ones. i find this very concerning that this dangerous condition would not be covered by chrysler when they know it has been an issue on thousands of other similar pacificas. *tr

Four months after replacing a rear motor mount. it failed again. this time it cause the other two motor mounts to fail which melted wires leading to the failure of the car's power control module. this resulted in a loss of speedometer, other electrical functions, and the loss of three ignition coils. it was brought to a dealer who fixed the pcm, and later discovered that all motor mounts need replacing. he had no explanation why a motor mount would have failed four months after they were inspected to be safe, and when one was brand new. the cost requested by the dealer for repair totals more than $2,500. *tr
Chrysler is very well aware the front engine cradle in the 2004-2005 pacifica's are bad and are unwilling to fix mine. they are stating it is only vehicle's made after 2/23/2004 and between 3/31/2004 and mine was made 10/9/2003. there are many complaints for this specific issue. my front engine cradle is rusting and i feel that because it is at the fault of chrysler they should fix this problem. i am also placing a call with the attorney general. this is a safety issue that chrysler needs to fix for all those individuals that have these vehicles. *tr
