On my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer lt my gas gauge shows i have an empty tank of gas at all times even immediately after filling up the tank. this has caused me to run out of gas four times on the highway with no restart. in both of this instances i had to walk on the highway and off an exit to fill up a gas tank and then walk back, one time being at 02:00 am. this is incredibly dangerous considering i could be hit by a car on the highway or stall where a breakdown lane is unavailable and cause an accident. the tank will never read anything else then empty with the gas light on as well. *js
Since this is a common problem with gm, i'm sure other complaints have been filed. the fuel gauge in my 2006 trailblazer has stopped working. i am concerned with the safety issues related to this problem. after researching other complaints, there should be a recall to fix this problem. free! please look into this serious issue and help out all of the owners that purchased one of these vehicles. thanks. *js
Fuel guage registered empty when tank was full, then was erratic - sounds like a common complaint - should be a recall. *js
Fuel gauge inoperable, fuel gauge indicates empty at all times. even after a fill-up of the gas tank. *kb
Fuel gauge started to fluctuate in october 2011. i tried all kinds of fuel treatments by recommendation of my mechanic, but nothing seemed to work. now, march 2012, it does not work at all. i'm afraid some day i will run out of gas on the highway which concerns me for my safety and my passengers safety. *js
The fuel gauge in my 2006 trailblazer stopped working. even after filling up the gas tank, it reads that it's on empty, the low fuel light comes on and there is a low fuel level message. this has been going on for several months; it started out with the needle bouncing around the gauge but now it just sits on empty. i am taking it in for repair because i don't feel safe not knowing how much gas i truly ever have. *kb
My fuel indicator has all sorts of mis-readings. examples: reads empty with low fuel light on when just filled, begins to read somewhere near 3/4 at a mileage point, (50), that it usually reads full. very annoying and distracting to driver. distracts the drivers attention to driving. dangerous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *kb
The gas gauge on my 2006 chevy trailblazer no longer works it started fluctuating at about 109,000 miles now i'm at about 150,000 and it hasn't worked for months now. my wife has run out of gas twice now on the interstate at 4:00 in the morning going to work with semi trucks barreling down on her not knowing why she couldn't accelerate. *kb
Gas gauge malfunctioning. will not register amount of fuel in tank. it will go up and then down to empty and the low fuel light will come on even when i know it is full. *kb
Gas gauge reads empty at all times. filled the tank up completely one day and the gauge read empty (even though it was still full)the following day. gauge reads empty at all times now. serious safety issue for my special needs child. *kb
There was a burning smell in the car and then the high setting on the air fan speed stopped working. then about a month later the second to highest speed stopped working also. i opened my glove when my wife was driving and then the highest setting started working again, then stopped working a few minutes later. i looked in the dash behind the glove box and found that there was a connector for the fan motor controller was heating up and started melting. i checked the connection and inside the connector was burnt and blackened. i contacted general motors about my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. they setup an appointment at the nearest chevrolet dealer and had it checked. they found that the fan motor connector was bad and that the fan motor controller was bad also, they contacted general motors and told them it wasn't a defect and it was not a safety hazard. i cannot believe that the connector almost catching fire is not a fire hazard or a defect. they wanted to replace the connector and the motor controller. i denied the service because they wanted to charge me $365.00 to do so. when i found the parts elsewhere for $75.00 and im going to do the repairs myself. i have pictures of the burnt connector and fan motor controller. i will be repairing the issue once the parts are delivered. i am also experiencing the fuel level problem also , the fuel gauge says its empty when i fill it up. *kb
Fuel gauge started fluctuating last week. drove approx. 4 more times and no problem. yesterday and today fuel gauge fluctuating again. this only occurs after i've had the car running and then shut it off, run in a store etc.start it up and it shows empty with the idiot light on- as i am driving the needle slowly goes back up. *tt
After filling up tank, tank registers empty, and check engine light on, after restarts able to measure gas amount, within weeks, no longer measure fuel amounts, check engine light comes and go, fuel gauge sometimes in the middle of a drive will suddenly appear to measure amount of fuel and just as suddenly return to low fuel reading and empty on gauge. *kb
Gas gauge on chevy trailblazer is very inaccurate. it stops working each time you fill up with gas. this can be fixed but will cost $600. this needs to be a recall. *kb
Fuel sensor does not work. chevy is aware of this problem and issued a deal to pay for half the cost only if the car has under 120,000 miles or is less than 10 years old. we are over the mileage limit, but this problem caused our car to run out of gas on a curvy, mountain road with large coal trucks speeding by. we ran out in a place where we could not pull far enough off the side of the road and were almost hit by several passing vehicles. we couldn't start the vehicle and had to drift it backwards downhill to a safer place. very dangerous!!! *kb
1.fuel gauge on our 2006 chevrolet trailblazer ls sport with 6 cyl. engine became erratic going up and down without relation of how much gas was in the gas tank. this started when vehicle mileage was below 40,000 miles. 2. now the fuel gauge always reads empty, and we have to go by trip mileage to determine when to fuel up. once june 18, 2011) when we hadn't filled the tank fully, the distance on it was misjudged and ran out of fuel on a main thoroughfare during heavy traffic. thankfully an accident didn't happen. 3. we had checked the internet about this problem and found it wasn't rare, but quite prevalent on our vehicle and similar ones, due to defective fuel sending units having contacts corrode. we put in a bottle of gm fuel treatment, with no change. the expense to replace the combined sensor/fuel pump unit that is located in the gas tank isn't worth spending as the replacement part is identical to the original and the problem will happen again. if the fuel runs out in an intersection or rush hour traffic a crash could result that could cause injury or death.. *kb
First - relay resistor module for manual heating/hvac. certain blower settings do not work in 2006 trailblazer. this same problem is a recall for 2004 chevy silverados. will this be a recall for the trailblazer as well? second - gas gauge have failed and does not work. i know of 3 others that have the same problem, is there a recall on this? *kb
Have a 2006 chevy trailblazer that only has 36,000 miles and the fuel gauge is not working properly. if i fill it up, it will show empty and the empty alert will start sounding while the light comes on. eventually it will start working after about 80 or so miles. then when the tank gets to about 1/4 it starts acting up again. i have seen many complaints, in fact hundreds if not thousands, of people having the same issue online. *kb
I own a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer with about 87000 miles on it. recently the fuel gauge has been showing empty upon starting with the low fuel light being on. as you drive sometimes the gauge will show the amount of fuel in the tank and sometimes it varies and is all over the place making it impossible to determine how much fuel you have left. i am making it a habit to monitor my miles so as to not run out of fuel. no accidents or injuries have occurred related to this issue, it is just a nuisance at this time. i haven't had it repaired as it involves replacing the fuel pump/sending unit at an estimated cost of $800. this is just an fyi type thing to show you that many of these type vehicles have this issue. thank you for your time. *tr
Fuel gauge began not functioning correctly around april 15, 2011. the gauge is constantly registering empty after a fill up and then registers a half a tank and then back to empty. i have had to revert to setting my trip odometer and when i get close to 300 miles i fill up. i have check with my dealer and was told there is a fix....a new fuel sensor and fuel pump. *tr
My 2006 chevy trailblazer ls has a faulty fuel sensor. i have been given quotes for the repairs between $800-$1300 to fix! this is [xxx]! i can't believe that i have to pay for gm's faulty part! this is dangerous! the gauge read i had 1/4 of a tank of fuel left. i stalled out on the highway, i managed to coast, safely, to the emergency lane. now my gauge doesn't even read there is fuel present, remaining on empty all of the time. some time the check engine light is on, other times it is not. i refuel every 250 miles, to stay safe. what are you and gm waiting for? someone to die? there is an entire internet site dedicated to the complaints of people who are having the exact same problem. you can not turn a blind eye to this! please call for a mandatory recall! there have been no deaths or injuries or crashes in my car because of this, but rest assured...they have happened or will soon! http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/th8ji6tepo3vrji3d/p29. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Faulty gas gauge sensor on 2006 trailblazer. *tr
The gas gauge stays on empty. *tr
I own a 2006 chevy trailblazer and my fuel gauge does not work at all, also, in the driver's side door the components melted. *tr
The gas gauge goes to empty when it is full than eventually it will return to full after driving it sometime from what i have been reading this happened to alot of chevy trailblazers and i don't think we should be responsible for it. they are saying the repair can run anywhere from 400 to 900 dollars..which this is not fair. *tr
I'm filing this complaint regarding gm's faulty fuel sensors. the gas gauge on my 2006 chevy trailblazer stopped registering. when the dealer advised it would cost $500 to fix it i researched online and found 100's upon 100's of similar complaints. i believe a recall is necessary. it's unfair and unjust to expect the consumer to pick up the bill for gm's faulty engineering/part. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the vehicles fuel gauge was defective. he mentioned that the device started showing an inaccurate reading and now it stopped working completely. the dealer nor the manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileage was 60,000. updated 03/29/11 *bf updated 05/02/11
Filled up gas tank on 2006 chevy trailblazer---low fuel ind. light came on after fill-up---fuel gauge no longer reads--shows empty. *tr
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer. it only has 34,000 miles on it. tonight after i filled the gas tank, the warning light came on saying there was no fuel. after searching the internet, i have found that alot of people are having the same problem and it costs about $800 to get it fixed. i cannot afford $800 to fix something that shouldn't be a problem in the first place. i love my trailblazer, but right now, i'm afraid to drive it. please make chevy fix this problem. *tr
I have a 2006 trailblazer the gas gauge quit working. it is an expensive fix. i have read many complaints of this and i am shocked there has not been a recall. *kb
Chevrolet trailblazer (2006) fuel gauge does not work. gives no indication of amount of fuel in tank. *kb
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer, with about 57,000 miles. the gas sensor is malfunctioning, as after i fill up with gas, the gauge with go from empty, to full, to empty, etc. after some research, i find out i am one of many with this same problem, and feel this should be part of a recall to fix this problem. cost to fix this problem is estimated at $800 or more. *tr
Fuel gauge in my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer died after 40,000 miles. i hear this is a very common problem. my gauge sits on e and the empty light stays on. i haven't repaired it yet. chevy should issue a recall since it's so common! *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge did not function properly. it would register empty then shift to a full reading and give incorrect readings altogether. the contact called the manufacturer and was told that he would receive a call back which he was awaiting. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the current mileage was approximately 34,000. the failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
My fuel gauge started acting up about a year ago. i have not fixed it because it will cost me at least 500.00. i am a teacher and my husband has been laid off for over 2 years. my fuel gauge always reads empty now with my check engine light going on and off as it likes. i have to make sure my 2006 chevy trailblazer does not go over 300 miles being i live in a remote area. i feel that chevy should have to pay for its defects. i paid a nice amount of money for a reliable vehicle and i am not getting any part of reliable from it. i am not asking for the moon just for chevy to treat its customers right and do the right thing and fix the 865,000 vehicle that they have done wrong to. *tr
Low fuel gauge. sending unit doesn't work. *ln
My 2006 chevy trailblazer has had inaccurate fuel gauge readings since 8/10. for the previous 10 months it has read empty on the gauge and gives an audible warning. we have run out of gas 3 times. once in traffic. dealership wants over $800.00 to fix it. we had decided to diligently fill the car and check the tripometer regularly. we tried to register it and to no avail, won't pass. i have read numerous posts on line with the same problem. i am 45 years old and have owned 15 cars. not 1 has had this problem and all were older vehicles. additionally, 4 of the previous ones had been chevys. their seems to be a problem with several years of these vehicles. please conduct a recall asap. *kb
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. after refueling the vehicle she restarted it and the gasoline cap light illuminated on the dashboard. the fuel gauge was also reading as if the fuel tank was empty. the vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of failure and was not repaired. the failure continued to occur. the failure mileage was 130,000 and the current mileage was 141,000.
My vehicle fuel gauge was moving from empty to full sporadically. finally my fuel gauge indicated that i had an empty tank; this is after i have completely filled my tank. i took my vehicle into the dealership and was informed that the fuel sensor went bad and it will need to be replaced. i have not had the vehicle repaired because it will cost nearly $900.00. *tr
Gas gauge reading not correct. it will read the correct level then drop to empty. gas gauge does not work any more reads empty all the time it is a 2006 chevy trailblazer and doing research on the internet there are numerous chevy's with the same problem. it is a safety hazard because a person could run out of gas in the middle of a intersection or when turning on a road or merging with traffic. *tr
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer and today it was diagnosed with the seeming all to familiar fuel level sensor failure. i am wondering what the status is on the investigation into this issue, and if a recall will in fact be issued? nhtsa defect investigation #dp10001. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 55 mph the fuel gauge stayed on empty after fuel was added to the vehicle. after driving approximately 50 mph the fuel gauge began to move toward the full fuel level indicator. the failure occurred for approximately two weeks. the failure was not diagnosed by a dealer or local mechanic. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 51,000. updated 09/15/10. *lj updated 09/16/10*jb
My 2006 chevrolet trailblazer fuel tank gauge and sensor failed at 49000 miles causing me to run out of gas on thruway this appears to be problem with many trailblazers. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated when refueling the vehicle, the fuel level gauge would not register the amount of fuel in the fuel tank. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the failure mileage was 101,000 and the current mileage was 107,000.
My 2006 trailblazer reads empty when the gas tank is full. i have spoke with several other owners and they all experience the same thing. pretty sure there needs to be a recall for this. *tr
Defective fuel level sensor on 2006 trailblazer ss. gas gauge always reads empty. very difficult to determine how much fuel is in the vehicle. ran out of gas on the highway and was almost hit trying to get to the right shoulder. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that after filling the vehicle with gasoline fuel, the fuel level indicator displayed an empty fuel tank. the contact was unable to determine the amount of fuel in the vehicle because the failure would occur intermittently. in one instance, the vehicle stalled because there was no gasoline in the vehicle and the fuel level indicator displayed inaccurate fuel levels. the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility where she was informed that the fuel pump assembly would need to be replaced. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted in relation to the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were approximately 113,000.
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer and today after filling up the gas tank the fuel gauge malfunctioned and the engine light came on. the vehicle only has 35000 miles and has been well maintained since i bought it new. after doing a search online it seems that this happens to everyone that owns one of these vehicles and the repair ranges from $800 to $1100. if this is such a well known flaw, shouldn't there be a recall to have this corrected? i don't think that every consumer should be on the hook to correct an obvious design flaw. this is a potentially dangerous situation since there is no way to tell how much fuel is in the vehicle. *tr
Fuel gauge in 2006 chevy trailblazer went out while driving home from work on highway. was stranded on highway until help arrived with fuel to refill vehicle. now fuel gauge in trailblazer shows empty at all times even after a fill up. nothing has been done to correct the failure due to car just being out of warranty and high price of fix. currently have to guess on fuel levels by keeping track of mileage. *kb
Fuel gauge stopped working around 40,000 miles. reads empty all the time. 2006 chevy trailblazer. diagnosed as bad fuel level sensor....shocking. *tr
