Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer ls (na). the contact stated the cruise control as well as the fuel gauge no longer functioned. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told they do not know how to remedy the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.

I have a 2005 chevrolet trail blazer that the tachometer and speedometer fail to work. doing research on the web this seems to be a common problem. why is there not a recall for this safety hazard?*cw

I have owned my 2005 trailblazer for a little over a year and the last 4 months i have been having problems with my speedometer. sometimes it works others it will show you are doing 4 x the speed limit. this is a real problem and needs to be fixed by gm.

My speedometer dropped to zero as i was crossing railroad tracks, and my cd player stopped accepting cd's during that same time period for no apparent reason. the gauge later stuck at first 20 - 15 mph, and then to 10 mph when the suv is stopped. after about 2 months, it corrected itself. the gas gauge then went out. it would register the tank as empty no matter if it was filled. this began 2/2010. i, a disabled driver, have run out of gas on a deserted road 12:15 a.m. in the winter due to having to calculate miles driven with the tachometer to determine approximate gas consumption. unfortunately, that calculation doesn't account for engine idling in traffic jams . i sat in the middle of the road in my cold suv praying no one came around the curve and slammed into me since i ran out of gas in the middle of a dark rural road. i was terrified in this situation and rarely drive at night if i can help it because of the manufacturer's known defect and negligence. i have paid over $500 to repair these manufactures defects, only to have them malfunction again within 1 week of repair. i was told by the mechanic that he would not attempt to fix it a second time. once again, my speedometer is no longer registering the correct speed, and i have been pulled over by a police officer for speeding. i showed the officer my speedometer, and to my surprise he let me off with a warning and told me that he has pulled over other trailblazer drivers for speeding who in turn had the same or similar issues with their speedometers. i have had interior lights malfunction, and driver side head light malfunctions where the light keeps going out. the headlight was checked by a mechanic and was not deemed loose or blown.

My 2005 trailblazer instrument panel constantly fails - the speedometer stops working which is a safety issue. the gas gauge has been fixed once already and is now broken again. the vehicle has power surges which is another safety issue. the transmission shifts the car up and down when trying to slow down causing power surges. this is another safety issue. the following are other issues which this model vehicle: stereo cd player stopped working, the check engine light comes on when the gas cap light, the lights flicker also. i ought this vehicle used and with a cracked front bumper which the dealer didn't fix (dealer stuck a little bondo on area and repainted it so i thought it was a new bumper when i accepted the car after repair. it cracked in a matter of days) and i know this was caused due to the surges in power. a severe safety issue. the vehicle has serious electrical problems the chevrolet should stand behind and fix. it is not fair to the consumer. i have checked the web and have read many, many other similar complaints. chevy owners should fill a class action lawsuit against chevrolet if they don't do a recall and fix these problems. i experience a fender bender accident when my vehicle didn't stop and bumped another cars back bumper causing an accident and an insurance claim. i am fed up with this vehicle but can't afford to replace it. *tr linda vanauken

I have a 2005 chevorlet trailblazer. i have had both speedometer and gas gauge quit working on me. have been told it will be around $500 each to be fixed! i feel that this is a safety hazard and should be a recall by gm. 2005 models have the worse overall rating with these 2 malfunctions be the top 2 complaints!*cw

Is no longer working broken. *tr

The speedometer has stopped working. the gas gauge does not work. also the fuses for the power plug ins continue to blow. these are safety hazards for my wife and kids while traveling alone.

My trail blazer check engine light stays on we cannot reset it. the full gauge says it has more gas then what it does, i have to guess to avoid running our of gas. speedometer stops working then it fixes its self. the radio and lights sometimes stay on, and kills my battery. *tr

2005 trailblazer: 1) speedometer would read wrong speed while driving, needle would max or zero out while driving, and now is completely not working; can not determine correct speed which could lead to ticket or accident. 2) wipers stay on with switch in the off position, must pull fuse to stop them; wipers are distraction going across dry window or must stop to put fuse in if weather requires. currently vehicle is in shop for repair. first replacement part for wipers did not solve problem. through viewing other internet comments this is not an isolated problem. it needs to be addressed before an unexpected driver is involved in an accident do to these issues. *tr

On two separate days, within a two week period, my speedometer stopped working correctly. the first time in went to zero mph and stayed there. a couple of days later it worked again. the second time, on the highway, it read incorrectly - said i was at 55 but was actually going 85 (spouse was following behind me in another car). *tr

I purchased my suv in august of 2008 about a month later after pumping gas i noticed the fuel gauge spinning uncontrollably. due to the warranty i purchase carmax fixed the problem at that time not it is 5 years later and exact same things has happened as well as all the other gauges spinning. shortly, after the fuel gauge went out i notice the speedometer and the accelerator gauges doing the same thing. i have had my suv for 5 years and has constantly complained about the gauges spinning back and forth. *tr

Gas gauge quit working, cost to fix at dealership est. $1800, exterior lights flicker from high to low beam while driving, dealership cant find problem, car seems to "jump" or leap forward while coasting or when apply brake, dealership cant find the problems or cause, car stalls and rpm drop if gas pedal not pushed, windshield wipers started automatically and wont turn off. had to take fuse out, therefore no wipers. all these items are a safety hazard to the family driving. the only problem the dealership could find was the gas gauge sensor which is not under warranty and cost $1800. one thing after another is going wrong with this vehicle and i will never buy another one or recommended one. this has been going on for over a year now. no one can find the "problem". *tr

I purchased my '05 trailblazer new off the lot never had any problems until the speed odometer stopped working. couple years later my oil & gas gage stopped working. i based my speed off my rpm & calculate my gas mileage after each fill up. now my dashboard lights are dimming & i've noticed on many occasions my headlights flicker...i have replaced the battery twice & the water pump twice. now when my check engine light or this other little chk gage light comes on, i don't know if a malfunction of if something is truly wrong. now it's running rough, acts as if it wants to cut off. they have checked all that they can but because the chk engine light isn't on, there's no way for them to identify the problem. and unfortunately, when the mechanic rides with me of course the car won't do it...and although, these are separate issues i can't wonder if replacing the battery is connected the same system as the dashboard. i've been told by 2 differ mechanics it would cost up to $600 to replace the whole system. but after reading all the complaints, many having the same issue as me i can't help but wonder if this problem could or should be on a recall & if not, why? if you view the complaints why not look into the very present & persistent problem! its very frustrating & aggravating to play a guessing game when your up & down a highway daily! not to mention a safety hazard! surely, your company isn't so money hungry that you can't take responsibility for you product & offer to pay for some or all the costs to repair! i'm a single mother of 3 & i was blessed enough to pay my car off a year ago but i've paid more in repair costs & stressing whether or not i'll make it safely to & from my destination! i never had this many issues with my grand jeep cherokee. i am truly disappointed in your vehicle... *tr

My trailblazer has an intermittent problem, when i am coming to a stop at a stop sign or red light it will suddenly lurch ahead or surge ahead. it will sometimes do it while i am driving slowly through a parking lot. it is a major safety issue as it could cause me to proceed into a main intersection. the local dealer showed me a gm notice that stated they were aware of a problem, but could not find a solution to this . this is a very dangerous issue. *tr

At low rpms the truck will lunge forward /reverse depending which gear you are in . this happens when it wants it is not a constant . it idles high and surges. first occurrence happened in feb dealer did nothing . next occurrence it almost hit my daughters friend when she passed in front of me. again dealer did nothing and finally the last occurrence it lunged into a tree. again dealer and gm found nothing. i have documentation from the mitchell repair company that states that the year make of my truck this has happened . however gm denies this. this truck is not safe. *tr

I purchased my 2005 chevy trailblazer in the spring of 2007. around december 2007 my speedometer started hanging up. it is still doing it today. the worst time for it to happen is on cold days. i did not have a problem with it this summer. now with the fall of the year and colder days, it has begun hanging up again almost everyday. because of this i am not sure of my correct speed. i searched the internet and found multiple complaints regarding this same problem. chevrolet has issued many recalls on other makes and model, but has yet to issue a recall on this problem. i feel this is a safety issue that needs to be corrected on this make and model, as it has been on others. *tr

Speedometer went haywire on a 450 mile trip got about 200 miles and the speedometer read 90 mph when cruise control was set at 79 mph. went to get off of exit and when i stopped it didn't go back to 0 instead when i started driving again it went below 120 and was hanging directly down. we got it back down to zero by having to start it and turn it off 5 miles at a time. it has happened 3 times now in less than a week. *jb

2005 chevrolet trailblazer ls 4wd speedometer failed as driving down the freeway. was going approxiamately 60 mph and speedometer registerd 10 mph. it corrected it self and for a couple days it was fine again. then it started repeating same failure, and stayed the same. it was taken into a gmc dealer and the repair was done. the speedometer was replaced, with a total bill of $463.09, paid my myself, since the warranty was just barely over.

Purchased 2005 chevrolet trailblazer ls oct.28 06. since then, to date, veh. has been in shop (dealership 4x). 1. brake repair. all 4 calipers were replaced. this vehicle had only 22,000. miles. in shop very 1st week of purchase. 2. been complaining of flickering lights. was handed a gmc printout stating they did not know cause. so therefore the dealership, hood chevrolet, covington la. could not do anything about it. 3. complained of engine acceleration while applying brake, coming to a stop or a slow speed in a parking lot. fear that i may crash into someone. received printout from gm stating this was normal. but i see this is a hazard. 4. complained of seat belt "riding" on the neckline, restricting blood flow in left artery on neck. i see this a major problem. i commute 26 miles one way to work at a hospital. i thought i would be safer driving my trailblazer, now i fear for my life. 5. complained of popping on front end. service had to order sway links and replace. did not solve problem, still have frontal popping while turning left or right, reverse and forward. it is progressively getting worse. found out gm certified tech. did not properly align calibers when installed. i have paid to much for this $23,000. lemon. action should be taken. sarah dykes, bogalusa louisiana. *nm

Cruise control shut down. it was set at 70 mph. vehicle was going uphill and it felt like the engine had died. the speed drop was sudden and drastic, luckily there were no vehicles following when it occurred. it would not resume nor reset by turning cruise control switch off and on. vehicle did accelerate using foot pedal. started vehicle up next day to take it to dealer and the cruise control worked fine. contacted dealer and was told he never heard of this problem before and maybe it was just a fluke happening. *nm

With cruise control set going down hill. the vehicle doesn't hold the speed you set it at. depending on the size of the hill it will gain between 5 and 15 mph. *nm

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving at any speed, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle did not respond. simultaneously, the headlights began to dim and flicker. the contact did not notice any differences in the vehicle prior to the failures. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. the current mileage was 34,000 and failure mileage was 2,000.

Dt: the contact states while driving two engine lights come on and the engine powered down. when the vehicle was powering down she could press the accelerator to the floor and it moved along. when this happened none of the brake lights came on. therefore, contact's vehicle was almost hit by an 18 wheeler. she continued to drive the vehicle at the low speed. this happens at no particular speed. the vehicle has been to the dealership ,and they replaced the computer and throttle body. the dealership has been unable to diagnose the problem. *ak
