Fuel gauge stopped working. *js
I filled my gas tank full and it then the gas light comes on. i am having to keep track of my miles so that i don't run out of gas because the fuel needle keeps going up and down, not reading accurately. now every single time that i put gas in this happens. very frustrating, especially when i want to travel out of town and you are not sure when you'll see the next gas station. are there any recalls on this? *js *kb
We ran out of gas on the highway 20 miles from a gas station with kids in the car. the gas gauge in our 05 chevy trailblazer was wrong and indicated we had gas in the tank. *kb
We are experiencing a defective gas gauge--it registers empty or it may move up a bit or go down some. we are unable to determine how much fuel we actually have. i go on a trip of 350 miles one way every month to visit my mother and it is a constant worry. i am so afraid i will run out of gas on the turnpike--we just never know. we did get a letter from gm saying they were aware of the problem-interestingly enough, though they will not pay to have this dangerous situation affecting hundreds of thousands of vehicles fixed--only half, which we feel is unfair. this is a problem affecting a great number of people, simply by the fact they sent the letter--they need to make it right by paying for the whole remedy before someone is killed as a result of this faulty gas gauge. we would like to be a part of a class action suit against gm for the full payment. *kb
I have a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer with a faulty fuel gauge. a year or two ago the fuel gauge started working intermittently. sometimes it would show an accurate reading and other times it would not. now the fuel gauge just shows empty 100% of the time, no matter how much fuel is in the tank. due to this issue, i have ran out of fuel and stalled several times. as you can imagine, this is a major safety concern. when the vehicle stalls power steering and braking are lost and it can be difficult to maneuver a large vehicle like this without those systems. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they are stating that the problem is a bad fuel sending unit and the cost to repair is over $600. researching the issue online i have found that this seems to be a widespread issue. this is unacceptable and a recall needs to be ordered. *kb
Fuel sensor has to be replace again (2nd time). *kb
2005 trailblazer fuel gauge registers empty when filled and starts to register after driving 50 miles or so 43000 mile and it just started *kb
Faulty fuel guage reading, vehicle stall. *tr
Gas gauge quit working. stepper motor replaced, suspected fuel sensor malfunction. seems to be a very common defect in these vehicles. *kb
The gas gauge on my 2005 chev.trail blazer always reads empty even if i fill it. it has been faulty for over 2 years. i have on 4 different occasions run out of fuel. when contacting a dealership they said it was not covered under warranty and would be roughly $900 to fix. the vehicle will read empty all the time causing stalling with no re start. *tr
2005 chevrolet trailblazer. consumer writes in regards to problem with fuel tank sensor issue *tgw
I had the same issue with my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer as document dp10001. i took it to the dealer who installed a new fuel sensor kit, gm part # 19178477. *tr
The fuel gauge began to be inaccurate. it would occasionally work but not consistently. after about 2 months the gauge stopped working completely. the problem was the sensor in the gas tank malfunctioned and needed replaced. once the sensor replaced the gas gauge works accurately. the cost of the replacement was $465. *kb
I drive a 2005 chevrolet trail blazer. the gas gauge is wildly inaccurate. in fact, when i was driving the vehicle, i ran out of gas. it was in the evening during the cold michigan winter and i had my 6 month old daughter with me in her car seat. the gauge does not provide me with an accurate idea of how much fuel is left in the tank and i am forced to either use my odometer or just make an educated guess. this is a safety hazard which needs to be addressed. *tr
2005 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge failure. *tr
Instrument cluster replaced 1 1/2 years ago because of faulty instrument and speedometer readings. january of 2011 gas gauge malfunctioning reads empty when tank has been filled, and continues to misread levels at all times. *tr
Chevrolet trailblazer faulty fuel gauge. my check engine light came on and later my gas gauge on my car started acting strange. now when i fill up my vehicle it goes to empty and the light/warning comes on telling me i have no gas. after driving the vehicle the gauge will go to what the level is but sometimes it does not. we have to keep the trip meter on so we know how much gas we have left based on the mileage. i have checked and i would need to pay alot to get this problem fixed, so i have chosen to deal with it based on the mileage. i have read alot of people are having the same issues with their trail blazers. i believe with all the people who are having the same problems that this should be recalled. i drive alot and am worried that i will be on the highway sometime and run out of gas. this would not be good as i travel from wisconsin to illinois alot and there really are not alot of places to get off the highway. so this problem poses a big issue to me. i think that gmc should own up and fix this issue with their vehicles. *tr
My 2005 chevy trailblazer gas gauge no longer works. i see many other people are having the same problem and brought their vehicle to the dealer only to have paid $900.00 to have the fuel sensor gauge replaced. *tr
I am having the same problem with my 2005 tb(fuel level sensor replaced) and the dealership advised me it would cost 900.00 to fix. i called the gm warranty line in detroit and was told to take it back to the dealership and pay another diagnostic fee and have them send the paperwork to them. they said they could not promise anything but at least there would be a record of me trying to get the problem fixed. i say recall the vehicles and fix the problem for everyone since this is a known problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while the vehicle was parked the contact added fuel and the fuel gauge began fluctuating between empty and full. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. there was an investigation under nhtsa action number: dp10001 (fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system) that may be related to the failure. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 89,000.
The gas/fuel gauge does not show correct amount of fuel in the tank. it show very little gas ( and mileage available) when the gas tank is full. or it show no gas at all - and the "low fuel " light comes on even if the tank was just filled up. *tr
2005 chevy trailblazer fuel level sensor malfunction. the fuel gauge doesn't indicate the right fuel level, and reports fuel level low even just 10 minutes after i have refill my tank. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact was driving approximately 60 mph when the fuel level gauge momentarily dropped to empty, before going back up to the correct fuel level reading. while the fuel gauge was displaying an empty reading the fuel sensor light began illuminating on the dashboard. the vehicle was not taken to be examined for the cause of failure, but an authorized dealer was notified and he was informed that it was a known failure. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. the vin was not available .the failure and current mileage was 76,000.
Gas guage stop working. i recently received a letter from gmc aknowledging a sensor problem with their 2005 gmc cars but only willing to reimburse 50% of what apparently is their fault. this is a problem that need to be fix 100% by gmc. stand behind your products! *kb
The fuel gauge stopped working on the freeway and i was almost killed during rush hour traffic because my car would not accelerate! *tr
Purchased my veh in 2006 and soon after this my fuel gauge stopped working. had it replaced by a local repair center. a few months after this the fuel gauge stopped working and had the repair center inspect the vehicle and they informed me that in both instances the fuel sending unit had gone bad. they informed me that the whole unit needed to be replaced at a cost of appoximately $600. i opted to replace the unit my self after purchasing the unit from a chevrolet dealership for half the price. now my fuel gauge has gone bad for a third time and now have to replace the whole unit. after doing some reasearch online, i find that my vehicle is not the only one with this problem and gm is not doing anything to assist their customers. *tr
2005 4.6 v6 chevy trailblazer ls; fuel gauge sensor does not work. to replace you have to replace the whole unit at a cost well over $500.00. when will a recall be done. this site will let you know just how many are having issue with the fuel gauge sensor. http://www.carcomplaints.com/chevrolet/trailblazer/2005/fuel_delivery_system/fuel_gauge_not_working.shtml do something>>>>>. *tr
After filling up the gas tank, the fuel gauge light stays on and remains on empty. *tr
Failure to give an accurate reading of amount of fuel. *js
Fuel sensor inaccurate in 2005 chevrolet trailblazer; occurs constantly, it is never correct, must use odometer reset. nothing has been done to correct it because my dealer advised that they have repaired several in the last 6 months. it is an expensive repair. *tr
Fuel gauge failure, 2005 chevrolet trailblazer with only 37,000 miles. vehicle runs out of gas because of inaccurate erratic readings being sent to gas gauge. this household has two drivers and the problem is manifested when the secondary driver runs out of fuel in traffic causing the potential for both an accident or major traffic jam. information on the web suggests this is a known problem for gm, but was never addressed. the expense to repair is very high. *tr
The fuel gauge on my 2005 trailblazer has become erratic displaying fuel levels from empty to full with different variations displayed when the vehicle is being driven. *tr
Gas gauge sensor defective in my 2005 chevy trailblazer. has been replaced twice. safety issue; i have personally ran out of gas because of this. replaced once while under warranty, replaced again 6/28 out of pocket cost because warranty no longer valid. after researching online and talking to other trailblazer owners, this problem is pretty common and believed to be a defect with the vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that when filling the vehicle with gasoline fuel, the fuel level indicator would read fuel levels at empty. the dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 72,000.
My fuel gauge completely stopped working. the highest it would go was 1/4 tank of gas after putting in $70 worth of gas. and that fluctuated everyday. one moment it would have 1/4 then nothing. i had to use my trip meter until i had the money to have it fixed. according to the dealer the fuel sensor shorted. i know that my car is a 2005 with 87k miles, but this should not happen. there are so many complaints out there, i am shocked there is no recall yet. are we waiting for someone to get seriously hurt? *tr
I just got my 2005 trailblazer 2 week ago and the car lot fail to inform us that the gas gauge was broken,, i was on my way home witch was over an hour away and my car ran out of gas, i had my 4 year old son with me and we had to walk in 90 degree weather to get gas,, and my son got a sun burn on his face and arms, i believe that if my gas gauge was working then i would have never been stranded along side of the road with my son. *tr
05 chevrolet trailblazer fuel gauge shifts back and forth between empty and half a tank. it started doing this at about 60000 miles. we never know how much gas we have in the tank, and have to set the trip meter every time we fill up. i know several people with the same problem in their trailblazers. we need a recall!! *tr
My gas gauge is defective. i ran out of gas on interstate 17 because the gauge inside the vehicle read 1/2 full when the vehicle was out of gas. *tr
My gas gauge in my 2005 chevy trailblazer ls 4.2l v6 does not work properly. it stays at empty even after i fill the tank. i have no idea how much gas i have left in my tank and am forced to constantly put gas in. *tr
Fuel gauge does not recognize the real fuel level. i have seen this in several other trailblazers as well as silverado trucks that my friends have owned. *tr
I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer. the fuel gauge keeps showing empty when the tank is full. i almost got into and accident on the beltway today because my car just shut off of the highway. luckily i was able to glide to the side of the road without killing anyone or myself. some friends from work brought me some gas which got me home as soon as i was a block away from my house the car shut off again. again i had to refuel just to get to the complex where i live. i had my two children in the car and only god knows what could happen if i just shut down and i have a speeder behind me. i have seen many other chevy owners voicing their complaints about this same issue. i hope that someone does not have to die for them to do something about it like the toyota dealers. is their anyway that chevy can be held accountable for these defects. concerned parent. *tr
I have a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer that has a dashboard cluster failure. my speedometer and gas gauges do not work. i have no idea how fast i am going and how much gas i have left in my tank. this has been going on now for over a month. there are thousands of complaints on the internet from angry owners describing speeding tickets, running out of gas, odometer failing, dashboard lights dimming and warning lights appearing. gm is failing to take ownership of this defect and dealerships are charging $550 to $650 for repairs. *tr
Vehicle started by failure of the fuel gauge. it shows empty even though i have just filled up with gas. this occurs every time i fill up. then the oil light has gone haywire, and fails to reset itself, it points down to the bottom of the gauge. now my speedometer will without warning stop working and freeze on a certain number, then go down to below zero and not work at all. this has caused me to not know how fast i was going at times. after turning off the vehicle it resets itself, but then happens again the next time. i have taken the vehicle to the shop several times and have been told that it is the instrument panel. i have read several complaints all over the internet and from friends who have the same vehicle. this is not something that is unique to my car. this is a serious problem and can cause accidents and people stranded if it is not fixed, or if gm does not look into this issue. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated while driving at approximate speeds of 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. the fuel level gauge indicated there was half a tank of fuel in the vehicle yet the tank was empty. the failure would occur intermittently and because she was unable to determine the exact amount of fuel in the vehicle, she would fill the tank completely within every 200 miles. the vehicle had not been to the dealer for a diagnostic or repairs. the approximate failure mileage was 67,000 and the current mileage was 68,000. updated 12/02/10 *bf updated 12/07/10
2005 trailblazer with 50k miles gas gauge went crazy and now stays on "empty" with the gas gauge light on all the time. they say it's the sensor/pump and it's a $600 fix b/c they have to drop the tank. 1,000s of complaints and no recall????? bad business gm!!! *tr
On 3-18-2010 we purchased a 2005 chevy trailblazer from a dealership. upon driving it home, we noticed the gas gauge was almost to empty. within a few miles the gas light came on. we stopped and got gas but the tank was not empty. the gas gauge continues to "bounce" around from full to empty many times during regular driving. this obviously needs to be a recall and stop letting consumers pay $600-$1000 to fix a problem with the part.
Requests that nhtsa open an investigation into the performance/reliability of the fuel level sensor installed in model year 2005 chevrolet trailblazer vehicles. the fuel tank level sensor is defective and could result in a subject vehicle running out of fuel, stall, and being rear ended by another vehicle. *tr
I have a 2005 trailblazer ls. my fuel guage is reading incurrectly, despite filling my tank full with gas the dial goes back to empty. the dial on the guage moves some times but mostly either remains on empty and nevers read the correct amount of gas. this has happened to me before about 3 years ago while i had my extended warranty, not to mention my friend had the same issue with her trailblazer and gave the whole truck back. needless to say i have family and the last thing i need to happen is to run out of gas because i can't tell how much gas is in my truck *cn
My gas gauge stop working in my 2005 trailblazer, gas light comes on even when filling up. *tr
2005 trailblazer alternator voltage dips alot as you drive. radio does not work unless it is 100deg, then only one speaker works. gas gauge reads empty after i filled up. ignition is very hard to turn, you have to keep inserting and removing key until it frees itself. *tr
