Fuel level reads incorrect as well as oil level. was told by mechanic that the fuel sensor and oil sensor is defective. this could cause accidents to improper readings and cars stalling. *tr
2005 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge light reads empty and alarms even when tank has gas in it. initially it was occasionally then it read erroneously now it just stays on empty, even when tank has just been filled. *tr
The fuel gauge of our 2005 chevrolet trailblazer, fluctuates and seldom gives an accurate reading. on one particular day while my wife was on her way to work, the vehicle ran out of fuel while reading a quarter of a tank. she was on a 2 lane road that is posted at 55 mph and was nearly rear-ended. this seems to be a major and expensive problem with many gm vehicles. it is a matter of time before this problem results in a fatality whether directly or indirectly. *tr
Gas gauge suddenly stopped working. filled car, gas light came on and gauge dropped to e. began floating between full and half full, then back to e. a few days later, back to working it seemed. then, driving down highway about 65 miles per hour, car suddenly shuts down, no power, barely got off road without being rear ended. sat with no heat in freezing weather waiting for help, barely off the side of highway. *tr
Fuel level sensor failed twice on 2005 chevy trailblazer. *tr
2005 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge light is always on and fuel gauge is stuck at e. the issue occurred around 65k miles and is still occurring today with automobile at 75k. *tr
When my mileage on my 2005 chevy trailblazer was approximately 50,000, the fuel gauge suddenly stopped working and reads that there is an empty tank despite being filled to capacity. from my understanding, this is a systemic fault with the fuel sending unit in the 2005-06 chevy trailblazer models that has the potential of putting consumers at great risk due to the potential of running out of gas on expressways, highways, etc. and, as a result of an unexpected loss of mobility, being unnecessarily subject to imminent personal harm from other vehicles. i have lodged a personal complaint with gm and understand that they are aware of this defect in the fuel sending unit as being a system problem, but have failed to issue any voluntary recall of the part. due to the individual cost of approximately $800 for a consumer to procure this repair (which almost always seems to occur when these vehicles have surpassed 40,000 miles and are therefore outside of the warranty period), i believe it is very likely that a sufficient number of those consumers affected by this part failure, especially in the current economic climate, will be financially unable to afford the cost of repairing this defective part on their own and will, accordingly, be subject to unnecessary and substantial risk given the potential for them to find their vehicles out of gas without any warning whatsoever. moreover, the potential for collisions due to the sudden deceleration or stranded vehicles on the roadways also poses a substantial threat to other drivers that is entirely unnecessary and extremely dangerous. *kb
I was driving to town on i-10 when i ran out of gas and was almost rear ended by a semi. my gas gauge didn't register empty. i took my 2005 chevy trailblazer to gateway chevrolet and was told it was the fuel level sensor and would cost me $525.00 to replace. i now personally know of 3 other chevys to have the same problem, 2 trailblazers and 1 envoy. this is a dangerous situation and from all the complaints i'm seeing, i'm far from being one of few this is happening to. from the questions i see below i wonder if people have to be killed or harmed before anyone takes a look at this problem? *tr
My fuel gauge does not work and has not for about two years. i read that there has been many complaints to your organization regarding this problem. have not fixed because the cost was over $400. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel level gauge would read inaccurate fuel levels and would fluctuate intermittently between empty and full. the vehicle was not repaired. there were no recalls for the vehicle. the failure mileage was 72,000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact was driving approximately 45 mph, and observed that the fuel gauge displayed empty or a reading level close to empty. whenever the vehicle was in operation, the failure fluctuated at any given speed being traveled. the vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction. the failure mileage was 60,000. the current mileage was 72,425.
After filling vehicle with gas, the fuel gauge began jumping wildly. it reset after some time. later, the fuel gauge failed to read properly. now the fuel gauge fails to ever read properly. this caused my wife's vehicle to run out of gas on the interstate in rush hour traffic. *tr
Non-functioning fuel gauge. *tr
Recently, the gas gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer quit working. i filled up, and the gauge set at empty until i had drive 10-15 miles. until then, the empty light would stay on and the "miles left" shows none which renders that alernate solution unusable. the only thing that works close enough to let me determine if i need to fill up again is the "trip a" feature. i can guess how many miles i normally go before a fill up.. but who's to say that is working right either? the improper functioning of this element of my vehicle is not only a pain in the backside, but also could be detrimental to the safety of myself and my child if the car were to run out of gas while traveling down the highway. i have found forums recently wherein many customers of gm are having the same difficulty with the same make and model. we are all frustrated to say the least. i have heard there were recalls for this issue prior to 2004 - seems gm didn't get it right after that time. how about a recall now? *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that his fuel gauge did not display the actual amount of fuel in the vehicle. whenever the vehicle was refueled, the gauge would display an empty reading. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the vehicle needed a new fuel sending unit. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the failure mileage was approximately 80,000. the current mileage was approximately 125,000.
My 2005 chevy trailblazer has suddenly stopped tracking the fuel amount, it has caused me to not know the amount of gas in the vehicle, i have also done research on the issue and many trailblazer owners have the same issue. to have my vehicle suddenly stop is inconvenient and dangerous, especially when i am traveling on the interstate. *tr
I filled my tank up and the fuel light stayed, this happens every time i put gas in my truck ,fuel gauge does not register correct fuel level.this is a 2005 vehicle i have already spent money on the 02 fuel sensor, i have also requated gm to check my light for my 2,4 and all wheel drive that blinks while driving and switches, i was told their was nothing wrong but it still occurs, after 3 years now my 4 wheel drive maintenance light comes on. being a single lady as well as a single mother it is hard to trust mechanics as they always try to get over and i don't have the finances to keep major work done on such a new vehicle. *tr
Fuel gauge does not function for 2005 chevy trailblazer. potential to run out of fuel in subzero weather endangering occupants. this is well known and common problems with this model. *tr
Massive electrical problems with chevy trailblazer 1. while going 10 miles an hour, the speedometer jumps to 120mph then to 50mph then to 120mph again. 2. when i fill up with gas, the gas gauge states that the tank is still empty then moves to full then to a 1/4 then to full then to half etc... 3. while driving at night, my headlights go highbeam to low beam as if i am manually flashing my lights at other cars. i have read on the internet where this is happening to many many people with this same model of chevrolet suv and that gm refuses to do anything about this. -i called gm and advised them of the entire issue. they advised me to go to a dealership and have them run a diagnostic as this was needed before they could help me. -i went to the dealer and paid $115 for the diagnostic, needless to say the repairs that the dealer found ranger over $3000.00 dollars. -i then called gm back and they took the information that the dealer gave me (donna at 1-866-790-5700 x21153) -i just got a call back from gm stating that because of the mileage on the suv that they were not going to do anything (they knew about the mileage before they sent me to the dealership!). so i wasted $115 dollars for something that was not needed by gm, and the fact that they knew about the mileage to start off with is a way to let the dealer make some money off the consumer. *tr

My 2005 trailblazer's fuel sensor as explained in your dp10001 has been malfunctioning for many months. gm dealer doesn't seem to be aware of it, but it seems many owners (1000"s) have the seem problem, some have had their computer shut down the car while driving. shouldn't there be a recall on this particular problem. the fuel gauge always reads empty. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge does not work and always registers zero. whenever he fills up the gas tank, the fuel gauge dial does not move from empty to full. the dial remains on empty and the fuel light is constantly illuminated. the contact found numerous complaints from other consumers who experienced the same problem. however, the dealer has not been notified. the failure mileage was 100,000. updated 01/07/09. *lj updated 01/08/09. *jb
Fuel reading is always on empty even after i fill up. i can easily run out of gas with out even knowing. *tr
Gas gauge doesn't read correctly. when i fill up the gas gauge it will stay on empty and the light will stay on. after driving for a day or so the gas gauge will fluctuate from empty to full numerous times. i keep track of my miles to know when to fill up and never know how much gas i have. there are numerous complaints similar to my problem. go to http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/th8ji6tepo3vrji3d/p2. i only read 20 complaints and of course there are many more to read. please have this problem known and fixed since it isn't under recall. *tr
Speedometer malfunctioning (need instrument panel cluster) fuel level system malfunctioning. *tr
2005 trailblazer fuel sensor unit. i received a call from mr. turner, from the executive office at general motors, detroit michigan, concerning the many letters i have sent to general motors. 'in a nutshell' he said 'gm has not received any complaints about the fuel sensor unit and basically i was not being truthful concerning the unit' i referred, him to this particular web site and his comment was 'if complaints was not coming from the customers or dealer, the comments was basic useless' he suggested, that i take my vehicle to the chevrolet dealer, at that point they would determine the problem and 'maybe' they 'might do something' in other words, you are out of luck. i would suggest that everyone bombard the president / ceo of general motors with complaint letters concerning the fuel sensor or contact mr. turner at the number he gave me [xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I am the owner of a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. my vehicle has recently reached 41,000 miles., and the gas gauge has started floating. i usually do a fill up at least once a week. no matter what level the gas is at, the gauge does not read properly. at this point, i have to maintain more than a half of a tank of gas. if i don't, the needle floats over to "e" causing my low fuel light to come on. i know a few others who own a chevy trailblazer who are having the same issue. however, i have been told by chevy that this is not a recall issue. *tr
Chevy trailblazer fuel level sensor quit working at 60,000 and dealer wants 500.00 to repair. gage started showing empty after filling up, now it only goes to 1/4 tank or empty. i have to use trip meter to keep up with fuel. *tr
Gas gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer is defective. it stopped working at 55000 miles and the chevy dealership wants over $600 to replace. i've been reading up on this and have found that this is happening all over to a lot of owners. i have no way to know how much fuel i have and have ran out on the interstate in the middle of winter 4 miles from nearest town with little cell phone coverage. only way i can guestimate when to put fuel in is by going by the trip odometer. i commute over 400 miles weekly on the interstate but can't afford a $600 repair bill for something i feel should be recalled. *tr
My fuel gauge indicator light remains on indicating low fuel. at first when i would fill the tank the gauge would shoot to 'e' and then would ready properly after driving 20-30 miles. now, the gauge remains on 'e' with the indicator light on indicating low fuel regardless to me filling up my tank. i have no way of telling how much fuel is in my vehicle at any given time. this is a hazard to myself and my family with the constant wondering if today will be the day i run out of gas. this is also costing me more to keep putting gas in my vehicle to make sure i have enough to carry out my daily affairs. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle stopped because it unexpectedly ran out of fuel. the fuel gauge displayed inaccurate readings and the driver was unable to determine the vehicle's fuel tank capacity. assistance was called to the scene and the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for inspection. the technician stated that the failure was related to the fuel sensor. the vehicle was repaired. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on a separate occasion for the same failure and a part was ordered for the failed component. the vehicle cannot be repaired again until the part is available. the failure mileage was 36,000.
I have a 2005 trailblazer whose fuel gauge does not work. it happened back in 08 and i refuse to pay to repair a vehicle that is still fairly new. it constantly reads empty when i fill up the tank. i've had to rely on the odometer so i don't run out of gas. there is also a problem with the braking system. as i press on the brakes while going over a bump the vehicle will skip or skid and the steering locks up. *tr
I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer and i noticed the fuel gauge was showing empty the last two months. at first it would show empty and a few minutes later it would show the correct reading. now it remains on empty and if the gauge does move it only goes as far as 1/4 tank full, if that. i have yet to take the car in to the dealership as i have noticed that there are many more vehicles of the same model and type that are having the same problems. *tr
I have a 2005 trailblazer, at 105,000 miles i had to replace the fuel sensor, its the 3rd fuel senor since the vehicle was manufacturered. *tr
In recent months my fuel guage indicator light is showing low fuel even after the vehicle has been fueled to capacity. after speaking a with several other chevy trailblazer owners, i have discovered that they are, or have experinced the same problem. i was advised by one of the owners that there was a problem with the fuel sensor. the cost to replace this item through the dealership was between $350-$450. after reading the complaints on this website and speaking with other trailblazer owners. one can conclude that this it a factory, workmanship defect; and the consumer should not be held responsible for repair or replacement. finally as of this complaint i have not repaired the fuel sensor.*cn
I own a 2005 trailblazer. its a great vehicle but problem's of great concern have risen. i would like to petition to have chevrolet to display a campaign for the recall and correction of a fuel gage problem which myself and many, many trailblazer owners are having. it involves the fuel gage not functioning properly displaying empty and or a variety of levels of the fuel tank. the amount of complaints which i have found on the internet of trailblazer owners should warrant an action from chevrolet to repair the problem with no costs to the owners of these vehicles. please investigate and you will see the situation. i hope an action to correct is the responsibility of chevrolet because it is definitely an design issue. why do the owners have to pay something that is not functioning properly and definitely an issue from the manufacturer. the other issue is very serious. the doors lock automatically when the vehicle is not in drive or the engine is running. case in point, my wife stopped at the service station to fill up with fuel, left the keys in the ignition close the door and started to fuel up. part way in the filling as she stood there outside of the vehicle, her purse inside on the seat and the doors locked on their own. she then had to barrow someone's cell phone to call on-star to unlock the doors. i did not think much on it and thought she had did something to trigger the action. well one day i was in the sitting truck and waiting for my wife. i have the key in the ignition, the engine not running and then the doors locked by themselves. i did nothing to trigger this. now i believe there is something very wrong. this locking by themselves will be very serious if a mother has an child or infant inside the vehicle and he or she is possibly getting fuel or something. what if this happened and the child or infant started choking or convulsions or a very hot day and help is many minutes away. does chevrolet not care? *tr
Fuel gage has failed and does not work... failed at 38000 miles... purchased car december 2005 with 13,500 miles from dealer...current ownership two years... low fuel light stays on even when tank filled...gage will sometimes vary between "e" and 3/4 full... most of the time staying on "e", ...absolutely cannot tell how much gas is in car from the gage. more than one person drives the car and it is going to leave someone from my family stranded on the road at some point. i went to the dealer and complained and was told that it would cost between $350 and $500 to repair, that the fuel sending unit has failed...that gas tank would have to be dropped to replace ... however "just keep driving the car until the fuel pump fails and replace the pump and the sending unit assembly at that time, saving the extra cost..." "keep track of your mileage"...which varies between city and highway driving... not exactky what i want to hear!!! *cn
Replace faulty fuel level sensor. *kb
Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trail blazer. the contact stated that the fuel level gauge would continuously read inaccurate fuel levels causing the vehicle to stall intermittently without warning. the failure would occur even when the fuel tank was full with gasoline. the dealer advised that the fuel pump would need replacing. the fuel pump was replaced three times to no avail. the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 120,000. updated 12/01/10. *lj updated 12/07/10

My head lights and dash board lights dim and flicker. my fuel gauge is never correct it will show empty right after a fill-up. *tr
The sending unit for the fuel gauge on my 2005 chevy trailblazer failed and had to be replaced at a cost to me of $400.00. when my repairer called the dealer for the part, he was told he had to wait a day as the part was not in stock, because the had sold out of them and there had been a "run" on this individual part. this would lead me to believe that the part failure is not random but that it was defective and others were experiencing the same problem as i. *tr
Fuel gauge on our 2005 trail blazer stopped working. this car was about 1 1/2 years old when this happened. just in simple talking i know 6 different people with this model that has had the same problem. it sound as if this is a problem with this model. *tr
I bought my 05 trailblazer in 07. about a year into it i started noticing that the gas hand would stop working. then the speedometer. on many occasions the speedometer does what ever it feels like. god forbid im on a long road trip. *tr
The fuel sensor that works the gas gauge had to be repaired twice. *tr
