First off the brakes have failed on me a bunch of times. i brought it to the dealer before the recalls started and they said it was normal. the problem got worse causing two low speed accidents with no damage but scary. note i have two kids in the car. been in for multiple recalls. one accident happened in a drive thru and one in my driveway. both were front end collisions but no damage. second the truck shakes at higher speeds.starting at 24mph up to 80. my kids teeth shatter in the back. that's how bad it is. dealers said there is no fix for that so i started by re balancing my tires and after that didn't work i got new tires. still have the issue and its more of a headache to bring it into the dealer cause they don't want to fix it or can't. currently on 40,000 miles on my truck and already had a multitude of issues with oil pump failure, steering column replaced due to moving horizontal. seat issues they couldn't fix so had to replace the bracket and brakes are ongoing.

Electronic power steering suddenly stopped working. vehicle is a 2016 chevrolet truck with 25,852 miles. a very dangerous thing to happen with a male driver. i shudder to think what would have happen if the sudden loss of power steering had happened to my wife on a curvy road. gm has recalled 1 million plus 14-15 gm vehicles over this problem. they say the 2016 is not in the recall. the $1,500 plus dollar cost is on me. why is gm being allowed to continue selling vehicles with electronic steering?

The truck will yank the steering wheel back and forth, multiple electrical errors will occur and the engine sometimes dies while the truck is moving at slow speeds and turning. a stabilitrack error shows on the dash. this happens almost daily.this truck is accident free and appears in excellent condition.

Car stalls and restarts when driving and turning. car won't turn or go. have almost wrecked multiple times. says something about stabilitrak

My battery failed at 53,000 miles, and after changing the battery the electronic power steering would not work. i've also noticed electrical issues with the display panel, and the stereo changing channels. i've taken the car to the dealership in roseville, ca. and await details on repair.

While turning onto a road, i turned the steering wheel approximately 20% and suddenly the steering wheel kicked back hard nearly breaking my wrist. once i pulled off i was able to repeat the process several times in either direction, i have video of this issue. when it kicked back, i would lose all electrical power to dash instrumentation and also upon power coming back on, i would get stabilitrak errors and the vehicle and traction controlled would be turned off.

I was driving down my street. waiting to turn left to wait at stoplight. when going i couldn't turn the steering wheel. traffic was coming from both sides when failure occurred. the only thing that saved my life was to continue straight through to the other side of the street. this incident could've killed me if was traveling at higher speeds. total loss of control of the vehicle. this is a major safety issue.

While backing out of a parking spot the steering wheel jerked itself out of my hand, almost breaking my hand and locked up and couldn't be turned at all. while locked up it finally broke free for a bit and jerked itself out of my hands again. put it into drive to pull forward so i didn't get hit by other vehiclse in parking lot too. it did the same thing going forward, jerked itself from my hands, the radio even changed stations on its own. during this the dic showed a stabilitrak needs service message and worked ok once i finally got it to back out and go forward and as long as the vehicle wasn't shut off it ran ok, abut once shutoff, the same issues returned every time, even at the chevrolet dealer where it sits now in mission, tx these events occurred while stationary and also while vehicle was in motion which is downright dangerous. while this is not my video or my truck, this is exactly what i am explaining above: [xxx] parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

When driving 2016 silverado 1500, i put on brake and lost power to steering. dealership said there was no recall. other time when touching the brake, lights got brighter on touch pad for radio and for over 200 miles while someone was in passenger seat, it said passenger airbag was off. while turning and applying brake, loose all steering. it happens while driving. not sitting still. first time it happened, 8 2as turning in the driveway and lost all power and had to slam on the brakes 2 times to avoid going into the ditch

Shaking at highway speeds

At 63000 my truck started making clicking and popping noises in the front end. the truck was taken to the dealership and it was determined that the electronic rack and pinion was bad. this problem is exibited in 2014 gm trucks as well and the issue should be looked into. a failing asisted steering could be dangerous and cause big problems.

I bought the truck brand new in march of 2016. at just over 2 years and 40,000 miles, the electric power steering system started failing intermittently while driving the vehicle, seizing control of the steering. it happened while stopped, then it happened when turning on a city street. extremely dangerous and should not happen on a new vehicle. chevy is refusing to do anything about it even though this was a known issue and recall on the '14 & '15 model years.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving and turning into a fuel station, unknown warning indicators illuminated and the steering wheel seized. the contact had to slam on the brake pedal to avoid hitting a person and a gas pump. the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, and it operated normally as the power steering was reset. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (alamo city chevrolet, 9400 san pedro ave, san antonio, tx 78216, (210) 987-2134) where it was diagnosed that the electrical power steering shorted out and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was called and the contact was awaiting a call back as the warranty had expired. the failure mileage was 40,000.

Driving down a country road the power steering failed while going around a corner at 40mph and came back almost causing total loss of control.

Makiing a turn the steering locked and engine died 2 times and yesterday while diving on the freeway at 70 miles per hour it died and managed to pull off the road. first time we allmost got hit by an other car . im very, very concern . truck has 19k miles

The stabilitrak has been going off at random times, several times in a row. twice, over the span of two days, the stabilitrak has gone off while in motion, pulling into a parking spot on dry ground. it has also gone off about 4 times back-to-back while at slow speeds on an on ramp. the main display has also been randomly shutting off (screen goes black) without warning or obvious reason.

This for 2016 chevrolet siverado ltz d/c 5.3l 4x4 t/a1500 model ck15543 purchase date: 05/26/16 as of the last past year i've experience steering control failure, stability control failure and brake system failure. the truck can not be driven safely. visit dealer about 10 times and they don't have a clue of how to fix this safety problems. this vehicle is listed under recall by gm and dealer has not been able to fix.

My truck has a defective electric power steering system that is known to be defected as the same system was recalled for all other models equipped with ut but because my vehicle is a special version the company expects me the customer to pay for this 4 figure repair out of pocket knowing the system is defective the steering just quit out of nowhere for no apparent reason it worked fine then went to drive it and it didn't have power steering it was stationary at the time i got in to go to the store and steering was gone

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 10 mph, the steering wheel failed to turn and the contact crashed into a light pole. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the steering column was replaced. the failure was not corrected. the vehicle was taken to gallaes chevrolet (2801 university blvd ne, albuquerque, nm), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was then taken to marks casa chevrolet (7201 lomas blvd ne, albuquerque, nm 87110). the vehicle was currently still at the dealer. the failure mileage was approximately 22,000. *tt *tr

2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. consumer writes in regards to loose front control arms and loss of steering while driving. *ld the consumer stated the front control arms can break loose and a loss of steering can occur. the consumer requested to be included in a recall. updated 10/25/2017*js

When attempting to turn left at an intersection the steering wheel stopped turning at about the 10 o'clock position, jerked hard to the right out of my hands. i braked and tried to turn again, the steering did this repeatly for five attempts. i turned the ignition off, waited about 10 seconds then restarted the truck. the steering then worked normally. my wife and i have experienced this type of episode 5 times between us. this truck does have the lane monitoring system and i have experienced the gentle tug of the steering wheel and vibration in the seat. this is not like that. this is an intermittent complete loss of steering control. this has happened at very low speed when making a left turn from a stopped position and it has happened at very low continuous speed such as entering a driveway. it has never happened when turning right. sometimes it corrects itself, sometime you have to turn off the ignition and reboot it. i have given it to the dealer for evaluation. their initial reaction was that they don't know what the problem is. fortunately no damage to ourselves or others, but the potential is there. that is why i felt i should report this.

I have a 2016 chevrolet silverado. once you get to 70-80 miles per hour it shakes pretty bad. i noticed others have experienced same things. they even named it the "chevy shake". i just wanted to file a complaint so it could be added to the list of others

Upon accelerating after traffic light, power fails, steering locks following grinding clanking sound in steering column. also occurs same symptoms in attempt to move gear shift to park position. more frequent doing this procedure. key moves by itself to originally input position in process of locking steering. this defect occurred eight times within five days, requiring towing, and being stranded. vehicle delivered by tow service to nearest chevy dealer on first few failures, vehicle returned to original dealer 230 miles away near owners home at cost of owner. original dealer believes defect is potentially lignition locking system, attempting to verify at this period. this major safety issue of loosing power and systems locking up jeopardize occupants and others lives.again occurrences were at very low speed or in motion of parking.

Ongoing safety issue...vehicle looses power, steering, braking, all other devices inactive, driving safety of occupants and others relevant when driver has no control due to defect. chevy mechanics believe might be steering system such as ignition and locking elements, due to grinding noise before vehicle looses power and other parts lock up, chevy techs thought might be race and pinion, might be electrical, might be whatever, they are unable to conclusively determine this critical safety defect in truck. chevy techs have commented they are skeptical about letting anyone drive until resolved. investment hugh with loss of use and finding other transportation. why own it. gm needs to reimburse cost and replace. this is a significant liability. all aspects of non functioning parts don't generate error codes, and this incident has reoccurred over eight times in five days. this requires action by gm, where is it. loaner vehicle not sufficient replacement for investment. safety issue commenced on march 16, towed multiple times, been to two dealers, initial more than 200 miles from home, and current dealer where purchased with 25 miles of home.

Purchased truck in february 2017 new had 100 miles on it now has 4435 miles on it now it's been in the dealer 3 times for vibration itso going back for a 4th time for theveryone same issue been to 2 different dealers has had 1 tire replaced on right front and 1 rim replaced on right rear still have vibration issue the the dealer is purchased it at said there's nothing wrong with it took to 2nd dealer they found the issues with it it still has vibration at 55 mph to 70 mph and developed a bad vibration at idle when in park and gm is involved

Steering stiff in cold and never gets better after vehicle warms up. anytime below 5 degrees f. i have had it in and they have replaced the whole electronic steering system with no help to the issue. i have read other forums where others are having the same issue. at slow speeds requires two hands to turn vehicle. very dangerous if in a panic situation. dealer said there is nothing else they can do. i live in mn and have had other gm pickups (1999,2010,2013) with no such issues in the cold weather. *tr

Went to make left turn on wet road an it didn't turn it slide an kept going straight .it just doesn't stop it slides yes vehicle was moving the road was wet made this same turn for the last 30 years in many chevrolet silverado trucks an this has never happened different time everyone all traffic stops at once i tried to stop an i slide in to a vehicle so hard it hit the vehicle in front of it before stopping there are 4 of these trucks bought at the same time same truck same tire on all 4 vehicles and there all driving an acting the same way. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 60 mph, the steering wheel veered to the left and right. the contact lost control of the steering. in addition, the contact noticed that the left and right upper control arms fractured and made an abnormal noise when driving. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

Steering is bad and it shack alot the bkakes are not that good i slip on the car in front of me

I have a 2016 silverado z71 4x4 has a lift kit lift kit was installed at 5200 miles truck now has 6000miles steering wheel when turning left or right at full turns u can feel the steering wheel pop and clunk this problem has been present since 3500 miles one time i full turned into a parking lot and heard a loud noise and felt it on the steering wheel never payed attention and since then i felt the clunk pop when turning at low speed didn't pay attention and now with the lift on i can feel it pop more and it's getting annoying my friend also with a 2015 silverado 4x4 has the same problem with 10k miles when turning 90degress he gets the clunk and feels it skips a gear from the gears inside the rack pinion now i'm scared that or worried that something might. happen to my steering and god forbid i might loss control of the truck

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle veered to the left or right while driving various speeds. the contact stated that the steering also felt abnormal. the dealer confirmed that there was a malfunction with the steering, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 5,500. the vin was not provided.

Vehicle intermittently loses all electrical controls: power steering, engine power, stabilitrak, airbags. all electrical systems are compromised and the vehicle loses all power. once the vehicle is turned off and back on a few times it will go into a 'limp mode'. i've been stranded in the vehicle 4 times. i have had this happen twice while driving down the freeway, once driving in a parking lot, and twice when first starting the vehicle. during one incident on the freeway i was in the center lane and lost all engine power, airbags, safety controls, and power steering. i was able to coast and make my way over to the shoulder. gm and the dealership have been unable to resolve the issue and are now refusing to honor the warranty, replace the vehicle, or refund the purchase. this has been a serious safety issue. i've had my wife and two small children in the vehicle when it has died on the freeway. not only is it a significant danger to myself and my family, but any other vehicles in close proximity. as such i have refused to drive the vehicle any longer, but gm seems intent on ignoring this.

I was leaving my home made a right hand turn as i was coming up to the 35 mph speed limit there was a beep and the vehicle was hard to turn. a message was displayed on the information display advising to get power steering serviced.i drove it to the dealership which was two miles away. was advised that the electric steering pump went bad. the vehicle has approximately 3,200 miles and i have been driving it since april 29, 2016. chevrolet notified. vehicle is at stevenson chevrolet, swansboro, nc 28584. if this happened on a highway i probably would not be writing this.

Electric steering failed at highway speeds multiple times during a long trip, when new. the steering, when out, was very hard to steer but did not lock up or cause any sudden truck movements. the dealership had to replace the electric steering on the new truck. no more issues afterwards.

This is the second time i take my vehicle into the dealer it's a 2016 silverado 1500 it has a vibration that comes from the floorboard on the driver side through the driver's seat starts about 60 65 miles and it up to about 70 72 73 somewhearound that area nutra balance is now the second time around they tried road force balancing worked for about 30 miles vibration back.

While in motion in city at intersection, stopped for light, proceeded forward but steering locked, brakes, and ignition switch inactive, a grinding clicking noise heard just as began accelerating before safety failure. truck towed to a dealer, unable to determine cause, released truck, problem occurred again in three days causing vehicle to be towed again. mechanic unsure, no errors codes, however sounded similar to early recall by gm for ignition switch torque problems, but noise could be per mechanic something in rack and pinion or rotary vene pump. dealer not committing and suggest to drive. safety for lives is concern in this matter with lack of electrical, steering, brakes, and ignition control by driver.

Sudden loss of steering including front end shake and braking problem.vehicle only has 6000 miles and both country club motors and chevrolet corp.have denied and fault of there's.i am a auto tech of 26 years and ase certified in steering and suspension believe that defective front suspension parts are very much to blame but i am getting the run around from all ends.i believe this issue is a cover up and really needs attention
