Problems with 2014 Chevrolet Impala ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL

On average, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala starts to “feel” problems with the ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL and its various aspects after 66 573 miles.

Recently reported ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL problems on 2014 Chevrolet Impala

Driving on the highway and dash notification popped up that i needed to service my power steering, service my stabiltrac, service abs. i lost power (electric) steering and barely able to exit and park safely. i'm a small woman with not much strength and i could hardly turn my wheel with every bit of muscle. this is not safe! i could've been seriously injured or died along with other drivers/vehicles! this needs to be a complete recall!!!!

The vehicle had water damage from 'clogged sunroof drains', which cause water to run all down the side and back panels causing an extensive amount of damage from one horrible design flaw. some of the things effected was electrical company's such as electronic parking break was engaged and would not release cause the vehicle not to move! next was corrosion on several other inside wires having to do with steering and possibly air bags, but who knows if they will be effective until there is an accident and it's too late to find out if they are dmamged. other safety features such as side detection was corroded so it too malfunctioned. there was a lot of other electrical things damaged but the car is in the shop and i don't know what else could be a huge safe concern. there is now so much mold which is dangerous to be breathing in if not totally replaced. there is an extensive amount of water in the spare tire wheel well that is causing rust and the inability to use this safety feature if needed! this became a horrible safety concern for myself and whomever my be traveling in my vehicle. please do research into this because i could not believe this could happen to a car with only 70,000 miles! my car is in the shop so i cannot take any pictures of it! please help!

I was riding on the highway doing 60mph when my car reduced speed to 34mph and the check engine light came on along with a stabilitrak warning blinking. i also had a bit of shake in my vehicle when it came on and slowed down.

I have a traction control light on, also the abs light is on, and i get a stabilitrack warning.

Bought car about 6 months ago had 52,000 miles on it seemed to be a decent car until today dec 1, 2019 driving on the highway at about 70 miles an hour with ice covered roads power steering went out , and stabilitrak, a long with abs all at once and prompted service lights in dash and info screen power steering was so stiff i could barely turn or control car and almost slammed into median luckily not hitting another vehicle drove to nearest exit and turned car off turned back on after about 7 min and still same things in dash thankfully this didn't end worse my car can now barely steer and service lights are on going to try to see about talking to someone at dealership tommaro it seems a lot of people are having this problem with this car

The brake light in the window flashes on and off all the time and even when car is parked and shut off it flashes and when it is in motion. the cruise control will not work and device stability traction control warning is on and says it needs to be serviced. vehicle only has 28000 miles on it.

I've only had this car for 7 months and just a couple days ago the stability light and engine light came on and it felt like my car was losing power. i parked and let it sit for a while and it was fine but the next day the same thing

While driving on city streets and the highway, the stablitrax lights come on then service indicators displays: service stablitrax, front camera, and power steering. the car slows down significantly and the power steering then locks up until you dismiss all of the codes. then you can hear a clicking that sounds like the car is trying to restart. it happens sporadically. i took it to a shop and he stated to check for recalls because there have been quite a few impalas being brought in for the same reason. i contacted chevy and they stated that there are no known recalls for my make and model.

They recently had a recall for the 2014 chevy impala for the brakes not disengaing the rotors causing not very good drivable condtions, but when i called and have them my gin number it says mine does not have a recall but my car is doing the very exact thing. and it does this while driving and like it stated can cause your wheel to burn and that's what happen to my car.

Driving car made right turn and lost power steering. service indicator text appeared to warn me. track control and stabitrack was also affected.

Started my vehicle and power steering warning came on, dismissed it, stability control warning appeared, dismissed it, traction control light and abs light remained on. this occurred when leaving a friend's driveway and driving onto a county road. the power steering was inoperative! took vehicle to repair shop. mechanic found left rear wheel speed sensor ring broken. this should not happen! there are 50215 miles on this car and it is very well maintained.

Stabilitrack has been messing up since i purchased this vehicle in october 2018. my car is scary to drive. sometimes its not clear what gear i'm in. the car will not go over 5 miles per hour when the stabilitrack is messing up. the backup camera does not work when the stabilitrack light is on and sometimes it will not go in reverse. i have to wait and keep turning the car off then wait then try to start it. stabilitrack needs a recall. i could not back out of my parking spot this morning because of the stabilitrack. it feels like the whole motor moved when i tried to reverse. there were no lights on the panel to know what gear i was in but it wad clear it skipped the reverse. when it finaly let me back up after turning the car on and off several times i could only eccelerate 3 miles per hour.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving 60 mph, the stabilitrak, traction control, parking brake, and check engine warning indicators lluminated. afterwards, the vehicle decelerated on its own. also, when depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate past 40 mph. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Wheel bearings had to be replaced housing also on 6 different occasions. stabiltrak issues on 4 occassions sway bar links tie rod. shocks struts... biggest issue is wheel bearings most recently lasted 2 weeks before needed warranty work again for the 6th time. cruise control sticks seat belt reciptical sticks wont stay locked in sometimes hesitates when shifting or getting getting up to speed this while vehicle in motion driving various speeds. locking mechanism to lock vehicle doesnt work only unlock function most work preformed over past 2 -3 years at pepboys. some other repair shop. been issue ongoing last 2-3 years... unresolved

Driving on city street at or about 35 mph, service stabilitrak indicator light comes on. the vehicle thereafter begins to shutter and sputters intermittently. pressing on the accelerator, the vehicle has significant power loss.

Takata recall. the power steering light signal came on while starting the car. the sterring wheel waa stiff. the car acted as if it didnt want to start when it on my radio station was on some random station as if the battery was messed with. while driving and in park the passenger airbag light goes off as if noone is in the passenger seat when clearly someone is sitting buckeled in. the power steering happend today and the airbag light has happened occasionally in the past couple months.

The cruise control button sticks, when being pushed it clicks hard to get to work. the most important started a couple of weeks ago with the steering wheel on moving and pushing the gas makes a clunky and grinding sound and feel, the vehicle does not go anywhere then, the stability light comes on. the car starts moving, and the wheel frees up and the light goes out. this is every time i'm turning left after from a stopped position.

A few problems. wheel bearing senors go bad effecting power steering and stability control. replaced 3 wheel bearing on different wheels in past 12 months. also 20" rims with low pro tires are a problem. had 2 plow outs in past 6 months when hitting pot holes and damaged 3 rims. very costly to buy rims at $650 a piece and tires at $230 each. a safety problem not knowing if you will have a tire plow out because of a rough road or pot hole in the road. i have been driving 54 years and never had a problem like this before. car was in motion with wheel bearing problem and tire and rim problem. at different times i was driving on city streets and highway. this problem happen at different times but most recent 5/5/19

Mileage: 89000 customer received a letter from gm stating an extended warranty is now available regarding the side blind zone detection system error that displays over the entire dash display panel. the warranty was extended to 6 years from the date vehicle was placed in service and 80,000 miles. many of the vehicles affected by this are experiencing this issue at just over 80,000 miles or have gone past 80,000 miles due to gm's lack of a timely response to this issue that has affected several people. the service side detection message appears upon starting the vehicle and remains to block the digital info center until it is dismissed by the driver who has to move the thumb to press the button. this message also re-appears after driving for several miles causing the driver to look away from the road to acknowledge the alert. the rear side detection modules were placed behind the rear wheels and collect water, dust, dirt, and debris causing failure. gm should redesign this housing to better protect the modules in the future

When driving, loss of power steering, abs, stabilitrack. this is a huge safety problem. this issue does not matter on road conditions. it happens whenever. the ring on the back of the wheel bearing gets weather elements behind it (mostly talking about water in the winter then freezes). this cause the ring to break. once this ring is broke. i am assuming the abs cant keep track of the vehicle's motion. it then throws the codes. to tell do a visible inspection looking for the ring to be compromised. don't worry your wheel bearing might not be bad. you just have to go to chevy and spend 190$ on a new wheel bearing.

stabilitytrak message came on. lost power steering while driving.

We i purchased the car they had changed the wheel bearings and since then i have had to take it back and have it serviced for the same thing several times. i changed out the hub assembly for the same problem and now just like before the traction control light is on and the abs light. i don't know what else to do. i turned into our local walmart and the car just stopped and would not go.

The blindspot detection system module failed and it messed up all my electrical systems in the car thw speedometer rpm and fuel and temperature gauges bottomed out to 0. all the lights came on . the vehicle was in motion doing 79 mph on the interstate. on star thought i was in an accident.

When starting the vehicle 5e 'service stabilitrack' light will turn on; the gear will be on manual instead of int he park position - and i am unable to switch the gear. i am not able to put it in drive. i have to turn it off and on a couple of times before it will start on park. the car has also switched to the manual position when i'm driving and making a left turn. this happens more frequently after it's rained the service engine light comes on, but after a few days it turns off. the problem of going from park to manual or from being in drive to manual has happened both while the car is in motion or when it is stationary- it's also happened on a busy highway or in town at low speed.

This has now occurred on two separate occasions. when my car is in motion, the stabilitrack lights flicker on and my car begins to lose power. i cannot drive over 35 miles per hour tops, incredibly dangerous on the freeways in southern california!

Car started smoking from the bumper area and electrical system going nuts. car was sluggish and acting weird. all gauges and instrument panel going off and on. door locks locking and unlocking. cruise enable then disable. infotainment system screen glitching out. took to dealership they said the side detection module and wiring harness is bad where it got wet. the location leaves it exposed to water from the roadway and can cause fire hazard. very dangerous and scary driving down the road and all this happens on the highway

Side traffic detection system is inoperative. car has been at the dealership for 15 days as of this writing . we are being told the control modules to repair the defect is not available. we are elderly and cannot be without the use of a car.

Every warning light on the dashboard became illuminated. lost power steering, car became sluggish, lacked speed, and power. braking control was limited. vehicle was drive able only in limp mode.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving 55 mph, the door locks kept locking and unlocking, the headlights went out, while driving, but the motor kept running. my wife made it home. the (for about 13 to 15 seconds) next morning she took it to work, on the way it stalled and would not start. consumer replaced the battery and still it would not start. but the vehicle would not start, an independent mechanic diagnosed that the blind side sensor was corroded and informed the contact to unplug the wiring harness from the blind side sensor. after unplugging the wiring harness, the vehicle was operable. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 55,000. *tt consumer stated gm has a bulletin out about corrosion in blind side sensor connection.*jb

While driving down the road the message center popped up the service power assist steering, and the abs and stabilitrak were also deactivated. this all happened while driving down the highway at 55mph in a straight line.

I have filed a complaint last month about my 2014 chevy impala's side detection system, back up camera warnings, and forward collision systems all not working. today i am adding that while driving on the freeway in moderate rain doing 55mph, my stabilitrak light came on, abs light came on and i lost power steering. i did not lose control of my car, but it could have been bad. i called chevy as soon as i got home to file a complaint. i will be bringing it to the dealership tomorrow as i have read other complaints of this happening as well with the next thing to go is the car won't start. this situation is uncalled for in a vehicle with 45,000 miles at a price tag of $35,000, especially when the other issues started happening around d 38,000 miles. before today, when i started my car the service lights for front camera, park assist, and side detection all lit up. i did not take it to the dealership at that point because i heard it was expensive to fix now i have to as the safety of driving it is severely unstable.

It has a few different problems. the first being a trunk seal that was already recalled, yet my “fixed” seal wasn’t even fixed and my trunk is still taking on water when it rains. the other problem started a week ago. my abs light came on while driving and the traction control light and neither will go off. today while driving my car felt like it was losing power all of a sudden and a dinger went off and the brake assist light came on as well as 2 parking break lights. both times the lights come on i was driving. none of the lights will go off, and now it’s dinging for a minute or more just because of the warning light.

While driving, several functions in the car will turn off. functions include heating/ cooling system, lights (dashboard lights), doors lock/ unlock and collision systems turns off. i've researched online and found several other customers have had the same issues ranging back to 2018. i've taking my car to a gm dealership and found that the sensor malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. i also found the sensor is on back order, which makes me believe this is a larger issue than i thought and some one needs to investigate further. driving along the highway and several security features start to turn off is dangerous.

While in motion around 30mph, felt a vibration followed by 2 messages on the info center. service stabilitrack, service power steering drive with care. the abs light and the stabilitrack lights are illuminated on the dash as well as no longer having power steering.

When making turns, left turns especially, the car hesitates and makes a grinding noise. it feels like it loses power, and will not move, which is very scary and dangerous in the middle of rush hour traffic in a busy city. sometimes the stabilyzer and/or traction control lights come one during these episodes. this is the 3rd time i have had to have my car serviced for the exact same problem. i am a single divorced [xxx] woman, i do not have the time away from work or the money to continue to spend on repairs that i have no choice or control over. please recall this problem. i have read hundreds of complaints about the same thing online when i researched my problem. recall !!! or do we have to get killed before you the manufacturer does that? parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *an

While driving around 7:30am on nov 2nd, the vehicle power steering and abs stopped working and warning lights began to go off. i was traveling at 70mph on a wet highway. steering became very difficult. i got off at the very next exit.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while making a left turn at a low speed, a grinding sound was heard coming from the engine compartment. in addition, the brake assist, traction control, stability control, and abs warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

Takata recall. stablink first came on my car when driving on a city road it was shaking did not want to pick up speed. had that fixed, then 9/2018 my side blinders started malfunctioning would come on and off. at times one would just stay on even when the car was off. received a letter 4/2019 about extended warranty on this but only good for 80,000 miles. my car has 98,000 miles. so here i am stuck to have to pay out of pocket.

While i was driving 60mph on an interstate my car notification screen displayed "service stabilitrak"/ "engine power reduced"... then my car acceleration seemed to have died and car slowed all the way down to around 20 mph with the gas pedal diwn to the floor... a big semi truck was behind me and had to break and swerve around me while blowing his horn...i was nearly killed.

Upon starting the car warning message appeared on the dash stating power steering drive with caution. the car seemed to almost stall after that. the vechicle was stationary at the time. it immediately became hard to steer. after 20 mins i was ablw to turnthe car off and restart it and drive.

After backing out of my driveway, the warning lights stating service stabilitrak, brake assist & traction control. also, abs light stays on and when initiating brakes, brake pedal vibrates and makes a vibrating noise. while i was driving to my appt, the message kept flashing over and over. same problem 6/15/18 & had front hub & bearing assembly replaced. ok until 8/22/18.

My car had warning lights for stabilitrak, parking brake, abs that came on. the car jerks when you start it and shift gears. the car does not accelerate like normal and has stuggle reaching high speeds. while driving, some of the lights went offf and caused more jerking of the vehicle.

Service stability track came on four times since i have owned the car. the last time i was enroute to my home from a medical appointment in minneapolis, mn. this time the car was losing power. i managed to get the car to a chevy dealer, two hours from my home, to have three service codes shut off, one of which was service stability track.

I get intermittent service stabilitrack, service brake assist, service traction control notifications where my odometer reading is as well as abs and electronic stabilitycontrol illuminations almost immediately after shifting my vehicle into drive and turning and it is during motion. also there is grinding and hard and difficult braking during these illuminations...

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving at low speeds and depressing the brake pedal ,the vehicle hesitated to slow down and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. in addition, the abs, power steering, and stabilitrak system indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to winegardner motor company (22675 washington st, leonardtown, md 20650, (240) 256-3959) where they informed the contact that the vehicle was serviced in 2014 per nhtsa campaign number: 14v450000 (steering). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,495.

Body control module / object detection module that controls side and rear collision detection is disabled due to corrosion from water damage after normal everyday use. safety issue.

Power steering was lost, stability light came on - was told this was due to erosion - had repaired at my cost - extended warranty would not cover as techician stated my fault although apparently this area is not visible during normal service. now the car twice has not started at all - all electronic sensors go dead. have taken to chevrolet dealer and they are unable to determined what is wrong. at least every other time i turn on car, the stability light or steering light come on, as well as the park assist light. i wait for about 10 minutes or so, try again, and they may or may not go off. 2 - the rear view mirror fell off during the first month i purchased, so it was under warranty and they "re-glued) it several times - finally it was recalled, and replaced about 15 months ago, now the mirror is doing the same thing again. 3- last is the pillar trim - it peeled and i had to have replaced at my cost - this should not have occurred. i fear i have a lemon, but more importantly i am not receiving the service necessary from chevrolet dealer - i have maintained the service on my car through the dealer, but so many unanswered concerns leaves me at risk for accident should car just stop!

The electrical system started to trip out. all the cars systems are blinking on and off.

When i start my car my epb is stuck to my rotors and will not disengage while driving or when i apply the brake. i am in fear that my brakes will catch fire from the fiction. the recall that was on this issue, when my vin was checked it said my car wasn't affected by this but clearly it is. the recall said the dealer needs to update the electronic parking brake software but they will not do it because my car has a salvage title. also my car won't go over 50mph because the brakes are engaged and wont release

Takatarecall- crunk my car up to go to work and the service stabilitrak message was on. no indicate in gear shift. when i attempted to put car in gear it would jerk like the transmission was stuck. i attempted to drive to the dealership and the car would not pick up speed on the highway. i had to return back home and have the car towed.
