Today is the second time in 6 months that my car has done this. 2014 chevy impala 62,000 miles, 4 cylinder. i was driving on the highway at 65 miles an hour and first the "service stabilitrak" warning comes up. then the "engine power reduced" warning appears. the engine will not go above 20 mph at this point. this is very dangerous especially if you are on the highway at speeds of 65 and suddenly you have no power! i took it to my mechanic who could find nothing wrong with the car. he told me to pull over and shut the car off and restart it. i did that and the check engine light is on but i did get my engine power back. i'm terrified driving this car. someone is going to get killed in this situation. i read all over the internet about this same problem and nothing is being done about it. this should be a recall!
Driving in highway and the power steering wheel becomes extremely hard to turn move it completely electric shut off it was in dangerous situation vehicle running and and can't even move the steering wheel dashboard showed power steering need service. went to side of highway for few mins and went back to car and turn on work back to normal this will be the second time happen 1st was on the garage turn engine but steering wheel wont move at all verh hard...
While driving vehicle on interstate after work a burning smell was noticed followed by the stabilitrak, abs and service power steering lights came on, which made the vehicle very hard to turn. took vehicle to a chevrolet dealership believing it was a recall due to research online, service department stated the recall was fixed so they reprogrammed it. upon leaving the dealership, the brakes were grinding and all the lights came back on. took back to service and it's taken 3 days for them to try and figure out what is wrong. they've now decided it needs a new steering gear. i've researched other 2014 impalas having a recall on steering gears but this vehicle is not listed? how is that? i feel it needs to be recalled and fixed since there's been previous recalls regarding the whole electrical steering system, steering modules, and steering gears. the service department is saying it is going to be $2,800 to fix.
I was driving on the interstate at approx 70 mph when the power steering quit working. two warning messages came on stating that the "power steering needed to be serviced", the "stabilitrack needed to be serviced" and the abs warning light came on. the car became difficult to steer. i had my son and a neighbor's child in the car with me. it was not a safe condition.
Having problems with my car when i do a turn in sterring wheel it makes a craking sound i hve changed brakes and other part in order to fix but did not solve the problem , also i braked hard once and the brakes locked and stayed that way i had to get vehicle towed because of this issue and this happen before new brakes, also when i turn all the light turn os as for brakes turning and other things.
Abs and stability control lights came on 3days ago
While driving, the power steering, abs and stabiitrak all became nonfunctional and the problem has persisted for about a week following the onset. this occurred while driving in a straight line, with no turning involved.
Warning indicator lights began flashing on the dash and warning lights in the mirrors flashed randomly. gm dealer said it was a sensor that water had leaked in and corroded inside. said it was safe to drive and would take a week to get the part. the next day it shut off after about one minute when started with the remote start. when driving on the street more indicator warnings came on: airbag, traction control, parking brake, etc.; the a/c came on by itself; the headlights, heater, and turn signals stopped working. stopped the car and shut it off for about an hour. after starting it with the key and running it for about 3 minutes, it shut itself off. once started again, would only move about a foot and then stopped sharply, like the brakes had been slammed on. did this several times. parked it again and had it towed to the dealer. they still say it's the sensor problem and will be $1200 to fix. they did not investigate the issue further although it is clearly a safety problem.
Made rh turn and car stalled and jerked struggling to move. car recovered but was having problems. made lh turn and sevice warning "stabilitrack" came on with "loss of engine power" as well as the check engine light and traction control and stabilitrack lights came on. barely able to get car moving. was able to get car moving but had to drive with flashers on due to the jerkyness of the engine loosing power. got car to home approx 1.5 miles. noticed grinding noise coming from under car. and almost no power trying to get car in the drive way. very dangerous situation. this happened when car was traveling at speeds of zero to 40 mph.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the stabilitrak was faulty and the vehicle would only shift into drive. also, the radio and heat failed to operate properly. when the vehicle was restarted, it reset itself; however, the stabilitrak indicator would not illuminate. all the other warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 52,000.
Body control module that controls side and rear collision detection is disabled due to corrosion from water damage after normal everyday use. safety issue.
I've had an issue with my 2014 chevy impala ltz getting locked up when turning the steering wheel. this started a few months ago, i took it to the dealership but they were unable to recreate the problem. the first incident occured 09/2017, i was driving on the highway going 60 mph, upon switching lanes it felt like the steering wheel jammed and locked for a second and the electrical power went out on the radio and dash. the alerts then said "power steering drive with care' & "front camera' or something to that effect. this has happened various times since on city streets, another message i've seen has said something about stabilitrak. the most recent episode occured on 12/25/2017. i was driving on a city street and turned right and the steering wheel jammed and the radio went out and the same messages came up, i took a video this time so that the dealership can see what the issue is. i found that there is a recall on other 2014 chevy impalas for similar issues with power steering but when searching under my vin number there is no recall on my car but i feel as though this is a mistake and my car should be recalled for this issue. this is a big safety issue and a big concern to me as i have two small children and almost crashed while on the freeway due to this issue. luckily the other times this has occured i was on city streets not driving at a high speed but regardless it is still a safety hazard.
My impala 2014 was making a loud noise from, the rear of the vehicle as if it was the muffler. the noise could only be heard while i was inside the vehicle. i had my wife stand outside while i drove the vehicle down our street and the loud noise could not be heard outside of the vehicle. we could hear the noise once the vehicle reached 20 mph. after getting the muffler checked we found out the muffler was in good condition., but shortly after the impala started making the loud noise we made a left turn at a signal light and the abs, power steering, and stablitrak service lights came on the dashboard. the power steering has gotten increasingly worse since the service light came on.
I was driving on the expressway going 65 miles an hour and suddenly my car without warning went way down to 15 and car was saying loss of engine power i was very afraid i also had my 3 year old in the car we were early rear ended by i semi i pulled to the emergency lane and shut the car off waited 10 minutes started it up and all lights were off the car drove fine for 10 o 15 minutes and then it started again this time the power never came back
When driving at low speeds or cornering at steep angles the traction control activates and will almost stop the vehicle. previously had issue repaired under warranty and they replaced a wiring harness. issue occurred again. a dealer service tech informed me that there is an issue with water getting in the harnesses but there is no recall only a technical service bulletin. where it is a known issue that effects the traction control and abs i feel this being a know issue should be addressed though a recall as the repair is expensive and a safety concern.
driving under normal highway conditions the power steering suddenly stopped functioning and the "service power steering" "service stabilititrack" message displayed on the dash, abs, and stabilitrak lights all coming on. car is starting to become hard to turn. i pulled the vehicle off at the next exit and i called gm roadside assistance and after waiting about 15 minutes i started the car back the power steering failed. this making the vehicle unsafe to drive.
Power steering, abs, and stabilitrak lights all coming on. only 40,000 miles on the car. car is starting to become hard to turn. started while i was driving and went through a large puddle of water.
My service side detection system light came on monday. on thursday bright sunny day one by one all systems failed. no air bags,no blinkers,no alarms sounding, nothing on dash working, everything is gone except eng is still running.i was driving in milwaukee hwy and city streets. i was 2 hours from home so i drove to the closest dealership. when they tried to access the computer they were locked out. a few hours later they were finally able to access the computer and it told them both side detector modules needed replacing. they were able to get service lights on. we drove home and our local dealer is going to replace the side detection modules. $600 for parts alone. receipt is only the out of town dealer as parts are not in. receipt for repair is not attached as it is to be repaired tommorrow. (date on scanning is one day off).... my vin is not in the side detector recalls
It's shutting off while driving.
My power steering quit working the stability light came on and it feels like my parking brake is sticking there's recalls for all these issues but when i type in my vin it says there's no recalls for my car
When making right or left turns at times you will get a grinding in the front also some hesitation stability light abs light also the brake assistant warning will flash this is a safety factor that has been bought to chevy's attention with no results. safety is priority at least it suppose to me, at the moment it is not chevorlet.
While traveling 70mph, all electrical controls inside the vehicle turned off, including the headlights. they immediately came back on, but did not register that the vehicle was in gear (the speedometer was registering 0 but the car was still traveling). the next morning the car would not turn on immediately (it took several tries) and then when we reached the mechanic, it would not turn off. we have been having issues with the electrical components for some time. the mirror sensor (with blind spot indicator) went out soon after purchase. the front camera will sporadically stop working with an error light. traction control will turn off, with an error message. this car has some serious electrical issues. *tr
On 12/21/16 while merging onto interstate 10 in tucson, az, the vehicle was going approximately 65 mph when a "engine power reduced" sign popped up, the vehicle slowed down to 30 mph without warning and shifting down through all gears nearly red lining the rpms and causing an rear-end collision. was able to move the vehicle off the freeway and took it into local auto-zone for testing. the test came back as a "throttle sensor malfunction". the vehicle now doesn't feel safe to drive, and will not accelerate over 45 mph without shaking and feeling like the transmission is going to give out. called the local chevy dealership and was told the cost was going to vary between $400-1,000 with a $100 test fee up front. i've also read numerous similar issues online from people driving chevrolet impala from 2006-2016. the car feel very unsafe to drive and i feel it could be a death trap as there is no control over when the vehicle will choose to decelerate without warning. there has been no mechanical issues before this incident, and the vehicle has been through numerous mechanical maintenance up-keeps that were recommended by service managers. *tr
While turning right and backing up or turning right into a parking space at low speed the stabilitrac/ traction control activates and stops the driver side front wheel for a moment, and then releases and a grinding/rubbing noise is heard coming from the drivers side front wheel when this problem happens and is a random problem that happens more frequently, when it is cold and damp.
The power for the windows on the driver side stop working (stationary & motion) the right side front head light, parking light & brake light stopped working (stationary & motion) dealership (ben mynatt chevrolet cadillac, 281 concord parkway s, concod, nc 28027) states that the electrical module under the dash needs replaced, the vehicle is only 2 years old, 65,000 miles
Stabilitrak control system i am contacting you about the safety hazard of the stabilitrak control system malfunctioning on our 2014 impala lt chevrolet. on november 7, 2016 i was driving from my home in perfect weather conditions and the car suddenly would not accelerate properly. the vehicle information center read 'service stabilitrak' and 'engine power reduced'. then the check engine light went on. i called gm customer service and the local chevrolet service center felix chevrolet to schedule servicing on the vehicle. i assumed the repair had corrected the problem. then on march 7, 2017 in perfect driving conditions the same thing happened when i was leaving for an appointment. the vehicle information center read 'service stabilitrak' and 'engine power reduced'. then the check engine light went on. i immediately returned home and called gm. the car was towed to felix chevrolet. the mileage on the car was 13907, less than 159 miles later. the diagnosis this time was the need to replace the acc sensor and the repair was performed. i have asked both the dealership and gm to explain why stabilitrak engages so unexpectedly and my concerns about the safety of driving this vehicle, especially on the freeway with the sudden reduced engine power preventing you from being able to accelerate properly. no one can reassure me that this will not happen again.
My impala 2014 suddenly says 'service stabilitrak' in the display and the engine power drastically reduces. i have see this in forums that is a common issue with gm cars and it happened to me couple of times. this is a very dangerous issue when happens at freeways or any faster traffic routes.
While driving and accelerating to get on the highway the electronic stability control "stabilitract" light popped up on the dash screen and reduced the engine's power, reducing my speed to a maximum of 30 mph when trying to accelerate to the posted 55 mph speed limit. i was traveling in a straight line when the "stabilitract" & "engine power being reduced" information popped up. the car would not go over 30 mph. this caused me to have to pull over and nearly caused an accident due to the slow nature of the vehicle, even with the emergency flashers on. this is several incidents with this particular car, having electronic failure. the worst of it was when the collision sensor was affected by a leak in the car after having to have the windshield replaced due to the rear view mirror falling off. that incident caused the car to slam on it's breaks due an electrical error. this car has been in the shop for numerous electrical issues. chevrolet has refused to do anything but the bare minimum to get the car back on the road obviously not fixing the root of the problem, as this is once again an electrical issue. not safe to drive if the electronics are going to continue to fail.
At about 85,000 miles i am getting a grinding noise from the left front side. dealer said it was bearings, which i had replaced at a private garage. now the sound is back after only a thousand miles or so. typically, it happens at low speed, and mostly when turning left.
Takata recall" when the car starts up and is put into drive, there's a hard grinding noice around front wheels. once we turn off the traction control it stops and drives fine. if traction control is on you can't turn the car left or right without grinding
4/27 approx 5:20pm @ 70mph, "loss of engine power" and some stabilty warning came on. check engine light and traction light lit, was in center lane, thankfully got to the left berm. car would not accelerate. turned off, touched brake a couple times, sat a few mins, restarted, ck engine light still on, but engine power warning not on, was able to get into moving traffic and took to dealier 4/27 apprx 7pm, with gm rental given to me. as of 1:12pm, no call yet, not sure what the issue is, but could have been fatal!!!! bad, bad bad!!! took a pic, blurry though, frightening! told dealer of sudden surges, but intake rep said it would all be related and didnt write it down.
Water was leaking down from over head dome light and from door jam, all the main electrical safety controls are housed where the light is in the roof. called dealership was told first available date to get the car in for repairs is february 22nd. on my drive home from work the collision control came on started flashing the red lights on the dash and slammed on the brakes, like the was a vehicle in front of me has come to a dead stop, except there was no vehicle in front of me, the road was open. i was getting off the highway when this occurred, while driving in a straight line. when home and the car was turned off i'm getting errors saying key fob isn't in the car, and the electronic parking brake needs to be serviced. the car is inoperable at this point. even if it does start again is a safety hazard at best and has to be towed to the dealership for repairs. it cannot be driven in the electrical state it's in.
I have had an on going problem with the stabilitrak, abs, and parking brake coming on and staying on. the first time that the stabilitrak came on i was june 2015, 3 months after purchasing the car. i was driving on the highway at about 65 miles an hour and had to pull over and shut the car off to get the stabilitrak to go off. on 3 other separate occasions i was parked and could not get the car into any gear. somehow the parking break had engaged and would not go off. once i sat stranded in a parking lot waiting on roadside service, but was rescued by my son who tweeked with the controls until car was able to shift. also, the gearshift area does not light up when these issues are happening, making it hard to tell when car is in reverse, drive, or neutral. when shifting the car feels like the engine wants to fall out and car will not drive faster than 45 miles an hour. i have taken car to dealership only to be told that there are 16 different codes showing, and that each code must be addressed in order to fix the issue. i have spoken to the manufacturer, but there was nothing they could due since i was past the 5,000 miles/36 months. i was 608 miles past. i pleaded with the representative, but was told there was nothing they could do since there were no other complaints about the issues. i've had this vehicle for over 3 years, and it has only been fully operational for 11 months of those 3 years. this issue is costing me more in gas, because instead of taking the highway to work i have been taking local roads. i have also had to rent vehicles due to these issue. i still have about 2.5 years left to pay on this vehicle, and i am still having the same issues. auto repair is very expensivel and i cannot afford to address the 16 codes until they find the right one. i am hoping that a recall is done very soon so that i may be able to fully use my vehicle again.
While turning vehicle to the right or left, whirring noise occurs coming from front suspension. notable power loss when accelerating to the right or left into oncoming traffic creating a dangerous situation for occupant and oncoming traffic. when this incident occurs, the traction control light luminates on the dash.
While making a right hand turn at slow speed the automobile felt like the transmission downshifted and then a message came up in the dic telling me to service the "stabilitrak", service traction control, and the abs lamp illuminated. after have the automobile sat for approximately an hour all of the above messages were no longer visible. i brought the car to the dealership on may 14, 2015 to have it checked out but they could not find any problems. the same problems have occurred approximately 4-8 times now with the information staying on in the dic for various lengths of times.
I was going to work and on the way a message saying my traction control needed to be checked came on. also, today as i was going to town another message came on saying my parking assist needed to be checked. *tr
At 70 mph vehicle slowed on its own. vehicle information center read "stabilitrak and engine power is reduced". got yellow traction control system light on the instrument panel with a "malfunction indicator light" below the speedometer.engine running rough at ashland, va exit.engine was shut down then restarted with same warnings as before.approximately 45 mins later restarted to have a local chevrolet dealer look at the car. on restart, all warnings and indicator lights except for the "malfunction indicator light" were out and engine ran normally.dealer guessed that it was probably a "glitch" and it was probably ok to drive.the 800 or so miles to sarasota were without problems. on 8/5/2013 took car to local dealer approximately 3 miles from my home. on entering the dealer's parking lot at approximately 10 mph the problem reappeared i.e. "engine power reduced with stabilitrak" with warning lights as before. this is a safety issue as it can happen at any time!! *tr
