Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving 30 mph, the headlights turned off and on. the contact made an appointment with mike smith buick gmc (6014 s transit rd, lockport, ny 14094, (716) 625-8235) for diagnostic testing. the contact stated that the failure first occurred last year. the dealer diagnosed that there was an electrical failure, and the wires were burnt and corroded. the contact stated that the electrical wiring harness was replaced. the manufacturer was notified by a letter that was mailed by the contact, but no response was received. the failure mileage was approximately 39,000.
It's shutting off while driving.
I leased the car brand new in october 2014 and my passenger headlight burned out. i took it to the dealership to have it replaced and found out that it will cost $350 to replace the bulb (the warranty was for 3 years or 36k miles, i have 41k miles on it). however, the light bulbs should last longer than 2 years on a brand new car. i called gm and they said they could do nothing.
While traveling 70mph, all electrical controls inside the vehicle turned off, including the headlights. they immediately came back on, but did not register that the vehicle was in gear (the speedometer was registering 0 but the car was still traveling). the next morning the car would not turn on immediately (it took several tries) and then when we reached the mechanic, it would not turn off. we have been having issues with the electrical components for some time. the mirror sensor (with blind spot indicator) went out soon after purchase. the front camera will sporadically stop working with an error light. traction control will turn off, with an error message. this car has some serious electrical issues. *tr
While driving the car the electronic parking brake engaged. we were on a city street on a hill. had to be towed. engine fault light was on. on 6/22/16 ebrake message on dash. car had difficulty passing inspection on5/31/16
While driving and accelerating to get on the highway the electronic stability control "stabilitract" light popped up on the dash screen and reduced the engine's power, reducing my speed to a maximum of 30 mph when trying to accelerate to the posted 55 mph speed limit. i was traveling in a straight line when the "stabilitract" & "engine power being reduced" information popped up. the car would not go over 30 mph. this caused me to have to pull over and nearly caused an accident due to the slow nature of the vehicle, even with the emergency flashers on. this is several incidents with this particular car, having electronic failure. the worst of it was when the collision sensor was affected by a leak in the car after having to have the windshield replaced due to the rear view mirror falling off. that incident caused the car to slam on it's breaks due an electrical error. this car has been in the shop for numerous electrical issues. chevrolet has refused to do anything but the bare minimum to get the car back on the road obviously not fixing the root of the problem, as this is once again an electrical issue. not safe to drive if the electronics are going to continue to fail.
Water was leaking down from over head dome light and from door jam, all the main electrical safety controls are housed where the light is in the roof. called dealership was told first available date to get the car in for repairs is february 22nd. on my drive home from work the collision control came on started flashing the red lights on the dash and slammed on the brakes, like the was a vehicle in front of me has come to a dead stop, except there was no vehicle in front of me, the road was open. i was getting off the highway when this occurred, while driving in a straight line. when home and the car was turned off i'm getting errors saying key fob isn't in the car, and the electronic parking brake needs to be serviced. the car is inoperable at this point. even if it does start again is a safety hazard at best and has to be towed to the dealership for repairs. it cannot be driven in the electrical state it's in.
Electrical bulk head connector to rear defroster/defogger burnt and melted electrical wire insulation.
Car stalled taking a right turn into traffic had to restart

The vehicle is equipped with a vehicle collision warning device that is intended to warn the driver of a vehicle in front that you are to close to and closing range without braking. on about 1/2 dozen occasions the vehicle's early detection system has engaged without any vehicles in front. these occurrences seem to be on days when it is raining and their are reflections off the road, or very sunny days (again causing reflections). the flashing light, loud alarm, and interruption with regular audio is very jarring (scary). on one occasion i applied my brakes very hard because of the alarm (but there was no car in front) - this almost caused the car behind to hit me. the system should be disengaged to prevent a false/positive alarm. i have taken it for service and contacted general motors without results. *tr
I was going to work and on the way a message saying my traction control needed to be checked came on. also, today as i was going to town another message came on saying my parking assist needed to be checked. *tr
When decelerating at a red light which turned green, attempted to accelerate with no throttle response, even when pushed to the floor for approximately 2 seconds or more (several similar incidents). second incident, car stalled at a slow speed. third incident, after accelerating the engine rpms stay reving high after taking foot off the gas for several seconds, and this has happened on several occasions and as recently as 9-16-15. these incidents all occured before and after a complete gm dealer reprogrammed the computer.

As a rental vehicle to use while warranty repairs where being performed on my traverse; i had been rented a 2014 impala. to my surprise the following morning i came to a stop and the engine quite, there was a clear lane within site that i figured i could push the dead vehicle to. i opened the door, while keeping my foot on the brake and positioned myself in the door frame to push. then i removed my foot off the brake to reach in and place it into neutral and start pushing. to my surprise the vehicle started by its self and accelerated away from me, the door frame almost knocking me down, yet luckily i was able to catch the car and get back to the brake before the car crashed. i came to find out that this was an economic feature on that vehicle. i feel great concern that this car started when my seat belt had been removed and door opened, would they have at least considered some sort of precaution from this occurring. please take this serious, i know that i was not advised of this feature, and had i not caught the car or gotten knocked down and run over, the outcome would have been much more serious. *tr
This was a rental car that i picked up on sunday, june 22nd from national car rental at the reagan national airport. i was driving around 35 mph on a two lane road near stafford, va. at 4:20 pm on the 25th when the entire car shut off. i shifted into neutral to try and start it, but no luck. i applied heavy pressure on the now non powered brakes and came to a complete stop. i shifted into park and started the car. no further incident and turned the car in on the 26th and informed them of the incident. they marked the car so it would not be put back into the fleet until repaired. *tr
Horn is very difficult to activate. it is virtually impossible to use thumbs to activate while keeping hands on the steering wheel. i must take my hand off the wheel and use the palm of my hand to exert enough pressure to activate the horn, which would be dangerous when i'm trying to warn another driver or pedestrian of an emergency situation such as an impending collision. at my first service i reported this to my dealer and was told that all the 2014 impalas are like this. *tr
I started noticing a very bad odor of mold and mildew coming from the a/c vents. i took the car into the dealer i purchased in early 2014. the dealer said they looked at it and could not find anything wrong. after i took it in again for a bad odor, they said there was a recall on the rear tail lights letting water in the trunk. a couple months later i checked the trunk and the carpet was all wet, when i checked the spare tire compartment it was 2 inches of water. i started checking everywhere and found the carpet in the front driver seat very wet. i took the car in again this time i knew it was going to be a big problem to fix, the car was now smelling so bad with mildew and mold even the service technician could hardly stand to sit in it at all. they have tried to change the underlay, and it still smells bad. the dealer says they had a gm service specialist come to the dealer to look at it. they have no solution to fix the water leaking or to get the mold out of the car. it has now been 6 weeks and i do not have my car!! i asked the dealer to please let me out of my lease so i can go get a car that actually i can use. the dealer is refusing to offer any assistance, and either is gm when i call customer support. i am now hiring an attorney and planning on taking this to the dealer and gm, as this is an major health concern at the very least to my family. *tr

On three separate occasions, i have started my new 2014 chevrolet impala and the parking brake will automatically be on. these have been completely random occurrences. *tr
On multiple occasions my 2014 impala indicated imminent crash by flashing a red light from dash into the front windshield and sounding an alarm with 3 or 4 beeps. the first couple of times i thought maybe the sensor was picking up a shadow or parked car but as it happened a few more times i came to the realization that it was not operating correctly. on clear sunny days with no cars in front of me it began to occur. i've owned the car for 2 months and it has probably happened 15 to 20 times. after doing a little research it sounds like i'm not the only one in the country to have this problem and in fact if my car was equipped with automatic braking function i'm confident that it would have applied the brakes and caused an accident. *tr
I've owned my vehicle for over a year and on 3 occasions the emergency parking brake would be applied on its own after i would turn off the vehicle. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the front collision alert warning lamp illuminated followed by a beeping alarm. the contact mentioned that every time the failure occurred there was never a vehicle in front of it. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 2,000.
I find my link very difficult to use as compare to my 2011 buick regal control knob vs touch screen. the ipod i use in the buick or the usb drive was easier to use and navigate. i spoken to apple and microsoft techs about creating playlists but the function does not work in my impala. this is a problem in 2014 chevrolet impala and the my link system that need correction. the i tune and media player is incompatible with mylink and gm should provide software/app that will work. to change a selection in mylink can cause distracted driving. *tr
High beam lights will not activate. the indicator light turns on only. *tr
Tl * the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact recently purchased the vehicle and noticed that the horn failed to sound. the dealer stated that the air bag was in the way. the manufacturer was notified. the vin was unavailable. the approximate failure mileage was unavailable.
Forward collision avoidance system inappropriate activation on several occasions at different locations. there were no other vehicle in front. there were three beeps/red light flash on windshield. the cruise control would deactivate and car would decelerate by three to five mile. the tail lamps are not activated to warn drivers following. this is my second complaint the dealer solution is to turn off the feature. it work when it should the inappropriate activation is a nuisance. *tr
Experience on multiple occasions the forward collision avoidance activation of a flashing a red light from dash into the front windshield and sounding an alarm with three or four beeps. referring to this as phantom braking activated by the forward collision avoidance system causing autonomous brake activation and the cruise control disengagement. it is unknown if the activation of brake lamps occur i hope they work when this happen. my service manager suggestion is to deactivate feature. chevrolet customer assistance center 71-1299424541 me back to the dealer with no solution/explanation. *js
Tl*the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that after parking the vehicle for several days, the battery failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where there was not failure determined. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 900. updated 7/10/15*cn updated 10/2/2017*cn
Battery leaked down the frame and was eating the 2 trany cooler aluminum lines. autonation chevrolet superstition springs in mesa, az put a new battery and 2 new trany cooler lines on, but after the 4th attempt can not get all of the acid cleaned up. engine cradle still has no paint in spots and acid still showing on spots. after a day of rain. went out to the car the next day and when i opened up the drivers door there was a very bad odor. almost wanted to throw up. after looking all over the car found 2" of water were the spare tire is and all of the carpet wet in the trunk. took it to autonation chevrolet superstition springs in mesa, az. they had it for 2 weeks and they determined i did not have the trunk closed all the way. this trunk will not stay down. what i mean is the spring is so good it's ether closed all the way or open all the way. after that and some research i found gm has put out a #pi1133 trunk water leak. the seal around the rear tail light leaks water into the trunk. so i took it back to the dealer and had to tell them it was not me leaving the trunk opened. *tr
Tl* the contact leased a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving approximately 70 mph with the cruise control engaged, the front crash sensor warning indicator illuminated as the brakes independently depressed. the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, which disengaged the brakes. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that while the vehicle was parked with the keys out of the ignition, the radio, the light behind the control buttons on the steering wheel, and the lights behind the display for the radio illuminated; however, there was nothing displayed on the screen for the radio. the failure recurred on several occasions. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100. ma 10/19/2015 *cn
