No incident. this is a complaint about the recall for chevy ignition switches. chevy's repair is to give you a key ring that separates the ignition keys from the other keys. most people won't bother and a friend driving your car isn't going to know. all you have done is give gm's lawyers a loophole for large lawsuits. they can claim the owner didn't separate the keys. this is [xxx]. the correct repair is to replace the bad switch. how many people have to die or get injured before you do the right thing instead of letting gm do the half ass thing that protects them from lawsuits. hasn't gm been bailed out enough. why would you protect gm over and above the safety of the american public. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

All door locks have stopped working. the doors will not lock or unlock with the remote or with the inside lock buttons on the interior door. each door has to be manually locked and unlocked. when i purchased the car, when the transmission was placed in gear, the doors would automatically lock. the doors each have to be manually locked and unlocked. the only keyhole on the car is on the drivers door to unlock the car. there are numerous reports of this issue on the internet for the year models 2008 and 2009. the parts alone are $450 to $1,000. this is a major safety issue and should be a recall because: 1. the doors no longer automatically lock when the car is placed in gear. automatic locks were most likely listed on the window sticker. 2. if a child is locked in the car, the door will not unlock with remote and can only be accessed from the drivers side door. 3. not being able to access the driver and passenger door with the key is a safety issue to me. my car only has 45,100 miles on it and the locks have not worked in over two years. the consumer stated the manufacturer declined to offer assistance due to the vehicle being out of warranty. *js
As i was driving, i got a notification on my dashboard that read "engine power reduced service traction control". i continued to drive to my destination or somewhere i could safely pull over. as i drove, the power to my vehicle had reduced significantly. during this time, the check engine light as well as the traction control light stayed on. after about 20 minutes or so, the lights went off and the car begin to operate without incident. after the day of the initial incident, i had the same problem occur 2 more times on 2 separate occasions. i have had my car since 2011 and i have had no accidents so i am not sure where or why this issue is happening but i am definitely not happy about it. i am also having issues with a knocking noise coming from my glovebox as well as the airbags light keeps coming on. is there a recall that i am not aware of that affects these issues? if not, what can be done to rectify this problem. i am a proud chevy owner and would like to remain loyal to chevy however if i am not able to get some sort of resolution for these problems, i may have to look at going to a different manufacturer. *tr

During freezing rain the rear window defroster quit operating making visibility out the rear window little to none. after troubleshooting, the problem came from a wiring harness below the fusebox on the passenger side of the vehicle by the passenger foot area. the wire for the rear window defroster had melted at the point inside the connector melting the plastic, and is a fire hazard. after researching this issue, many newer chevrolet impalas have encountered this issue, and it should be addressed. *tr

Our 2008 chevrolet impala is under the recall for the ignition switch. we have the letter. car was at the dealer for 4 weeks and they didn't fix it. they said to take the remote off the key and only have the key in the ignition with nothing else on the key and no other fix is available. we feel the car is unsafe to drive at highway speeds should the car shut off. the dealer is fowler chevrolet in tulsa, oklahoma.and they refuse to provide us a loaner car. what are we to do? *tr
After going through a small puddle, serp belt slips, lose power steering, cant hardly control car. if it happened with my wife driving in traffic could be very bad. went to beard chevrolet a month ago (this has been happening several mos) and was told it's normal, and in new cars they went to electric ps because of it. that doesn't console me with an otherwise perfectly running car. i had replaced the tensioner and serp belt already before going to the dealer. *tr
I received notice of a safety recall #14299 from chevrolet instructing me to call my local dealer and schedule a time to have the ignition repair. the local dealer, campbell chevrolet in bowling green, ky told me they did not have the parts. the dealer instructed me to leave my name and telephone number and they would call when the parts came in. this call took place on november 13, 2014. i still have not heard anything from the dealer. i believe there has been more than enough time to get the parts needed and fix this problem. meanwhile, i am still driving the car with this known risk. if this is the manner in which car manufacturers are allowed to state they are taking care of recalls it is no wonder more deaths are not avoided. if i attempt to trade the vehicle i am sure this will be an issue and most probably devalue my car. is there other recourse a consumer can take to remedy this issue? *tr

There is a loud clicking in the area of the ac/heating unit. it is affected by locking/unlocking doors, opening/closing doors, turning ac/heat off & on. the clicking usually lasts for at least a minute and can start/stop while driving. the technicians at jiffy lube said they know of several gm vehicles that has this same problem. seems to me there should be a recall on them. what is the problem and the fix? thanks *tr
The key is stuck in the ignition, this was at 10:15pm 9/25/14. the car was able to be turned off, i turned off the radio, lights, air and anything else i thought would kill the battery. i removed the key fob and locked my vehicle. i woke up this morning at 5am thinking the car wouldn't start but thankfully it did. i drove to work and now i am worried the battery will be dead when i return to it to go home. i called the dealership service department at jack winegardiner chevrolet and they said the cause could be a dead battery, not so, i can start and drive the car just fine. when i asked what could be the cause, could it possibly be the recall 14299, he said no. i told him that i have done my research and this is an ongoing issue with these cars and he said unfortunately their is no recall for that ma'am and that i will be responsible for the repairs. really, i had another issue with the card just a few days ago which i will report in another complaint. but in short the car had reduced power and traction was supposedly affected. turned the car of and went in to work, went back to go home and it has been fine ever since. this car is becoming unreliable. i used to love my car, now, i don't think i will buy another chevy, ever! *tr
