We have classified the 204 complaints from 2008 Chevrolet Impala about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
My 2008 chevrolet impala was recently totaled, on star had diagnosed a problem with the app sensor, this was confirmed with the dealership and repairs were not covered by the warranty, the car is now in possession of my insurance company i had called previously and was told to call chevy, the dealership is the only number i have . they are to dispose of this car , there is too much data here to not have turned over to chevy and or nhtsb , especially since onstar also recorded the cross and the driver only had a knee injury. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 chevrolet impala. while the contact was driving approximately 25 mph , she began reducing speed as she approached a stop signal. the "check traction control" and the check engine warning light indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact stated there was a significant reduction in the engine power to the point of almost stalling. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was contributed to the ads sensor. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure had continued to occur. the vehicle was taken a second time to the dealer where the technician performed a diagnostic testing which indicated that the failure was related to the wiring harness and not the ads sensor. the vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. the failure mileage was 54,000. updated 8/2/10 *cn the consumer also stated the rear door lock didn't work. updated 08/09/10*jb
I too am very upset with the issue with the door lock issue. the back passenger drivers side door does not unlock with the fob or the door unlock control. the only way to physically unlock the door is to recline the drivers seat and reach back and unlock the door manually. in the event of an emergency this is b.s. i have done much research on the internet on this subject and was overwhelmed by the number of other people with the same issue. this is so disturbing! i wish chevrolet would do the right thing and make it right to its customers. *tr
Every time i would drive the 08 chevy impala the key would not turn all the way out. it did that for about a week. then when i made it to work it did the same thing. came out to go home it would not start at all the key wouldn't turn over. so we had to put it in manual mode to drive it to a shop. a wire in the handle to change gears broke because i was told the wire was to short. now this was 42 or 43 thousand miles now at 82 its doing the same thing again. why no recall? *tr

I am getting my fourth set of tires on my 2008 impala, with 70,000 miles i have been told everything from not rotating my tire which i do every 6,000 miles to alignment which has been done three times, , i also have no power steering randomly at low speeds, also rear door locks don't work any more, also when i step on the gas the traction control light comes on and i can't go forward and then it all of a sudden will move, that's on dry pavement. *tr
Door lock problems: first the driver door failed to work. then the right passenger door..(which has to be manually opened and closed). now the driver side passenger door lock is undependable. the problem is becoming a hazard to driving the automobile in that the safety of the ingress and egress of the passengers cannot be guaranteed and this can become a definite hazard, especially in times of an accident. *tr
Whenever the outside temperature drops below approx 20 degrees f and the vehicle is parked overnight, the factory remote starter and the keyless entry systems don't function unless i hold the transmitter directly above the hood of the vehicle. in warmer weather, the system works from distances greater than 50 feet. it has been to the dealer 3 times for the problem already and the problem still exists. thus far, the 2 transmitters and the receiver have been replaced. *tr
My vehicle i purchases fro the dealer was supposedly in excellent shape. not until i moved to los angeles, ca. i realized that the engine was not performing correctly. the engine is to drop down from a 8cycl to a 6cycl when it is in overdrive (60+mph). (this is called 'active fuel management system.) my engine would not due that. i took it to several dealers but they refused to fix the problem. dealer said "it wasn't their fault. we bought this car from an auction". i feel their was something wrong with the car. dealer inspection checklist was dated 3/26/2008. the car was a rental vehicle prior to me purchasing it as a used vehicle. the odometer reading was 12410 on 5/17/2008. i feel their was a problem with the engine "safety". *tr
