Tl* the contact owns a 2006 volvo s80. the contact stated that while driving and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle failed to exceed 30 mph. the vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer in binghamton, new york, to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that accelerator sensor-digital sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 06v441000 (vehicle speed control) as a possible cause of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
While turning into a parking space from the lane of a parking lot, with my foot on the brake, my volvo s80 accelerated so powerfully it could be heard yards away. i applied the brake harder but the car wouldn't stop and surged over a wheel stop, it was still surging so i started pumping the brake, the car finally crashed into a pipe bollard bringing it to a stop, the car wouldn't turn off, the electrical was going haywire and i could not get the car into park to remove the key. upon impact the seat belt did not hold my mother into place and the airbags did not deploy. i am the original owner of this 2008 volvo s80 awd with 58k miles on it in pristine condition. i have had problems in the past with the cooling fan module, engine running hot, the scu module, map sensor, a faulty fuel sensor, faulty schraeder valves, faulty alternator and voltage regulator, faulty ac compressor but never a power surge to this extreme.
While pulling into a parking space from the driving lane of a parking lot, my volvo had a surge of power that could not be controlled/stopped by applying the brakes. i was barely in motion with my foot on the brake when we (my mother, sister, and i) heard the engine roar and the car surged forward. i applied more pressure to the brake but the car would not stop and went over a wheel stop so i then started pumping the brake. the car finally stopped moving once it hit a pipe bollard but the engine would not turn off, my electrical went haywire and i could not get the car in park to remove the key. upon impact the passenger seat belt did not hold my mother in place and the air bags didn't deploy. i am the original owner of this car which was in pristine condition but now wrecked. i have all the service records for this car and have had problems in the past with the following items; faulty cooling fan module, engine running hot, faulty battery cell, faulty scu module, faulty starter, faulty map sensor, faulty oil level sensor, faulty power steering rack, faulty fuel ...
When the vehicle warms up from start it will not move forward or reverse it started at like 30 miles and i parked the car till i could get it fixed now when the car just warms up (not gets hot) it will not engage trans i have on more senser to check but the car will move when you first start it both forward and back but when it warms up it stops
Takata recall- the vehicle become non responsive when pushing the accelerator, the engine started running rough, the cruise control stopped working, the dstc (dynamic stability traction control) failed and the engine coolant temperature stopped reading. the vehicle started stalling everytime i come to a stop. all this started at the same time while i was driving the vehicle. *tr
While stopped in drive at a stop sign with foot on brake,on corner of city street engine revved very high and car tried to surge forward. applied brake even harder, put car in neutral and stopped engine. tried to start up and same thing happened. on third try, engine seemed normal, but "check engine light" was on. drove 100 yards to home garage and had car flat-bedded to dealer.
While we were try i g to repair this vehicle we were test driving it a d came to a full stop at a stoplight signal and could not downshift vehicle into 1st gear from a stop after the vehicle was at normal running temperature. causing it to go i to a limp home mode. so while we were driving we noticed that the floor was saturated with antifreeze and a sweet odor from the vents was noticed with a smoke . we serviced the transmission without success . also noticed an no oil pressure read on dash only when we were not in acceleration. this disappear when upon acceleration and returned when idling. we serviced the oil filter the fluids performed a motor flush first and replaced the oil pressure switch. without successful repairs and continue of the code returns after performing a drive cycle numerous times. we are convinced this is caused by the recall #r155. thank you for help in repairing this issue under the nhtsa recall#06v441000. *tr
While driving at speed tachometer dropped to 900 rpm from about 3500 with an 18 wheeler not more than 6 car lengths behind me, needless to say if it weren't for diving onto the shoulder as is decelerated rapidly to 20 mph in a matter of seconds i would have been rear-ended with my family in the car. this is a known issue. volvo has extended the warranty on some of the etms to 10 years/200,000 miles. when i called volvo to ask if this model was part of that extended warranty they told me that it only covered '99-01' and that they would not repair it as " things break when they get old", and that i should drive it to the shop for diagnosis, at my own peril. they also informed me it would take a class action lawsuit to change this. why should it take a lawsuit or death of a whole car full of people to get someone to take accountability for use of substandard parts? i drove the car home in "limp mode " and parked it. today i went out to see if it would run and drive, to ...
Tl* the contact owns a 1999 volvo s80. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle began to operate roughly and the engine stalled without warning. after fifteen minutes, the vehicle restarted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. in 2007, the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 06v441000 (vehicle speed control) however, the failure recurred eight years later. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unavailable.
