Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen passat. while driving, the contact was pulled over by a trooper because the driver's side headlight was not illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the headlight bulb was melting the sockets and needed to be replaced. the contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 19v389000 (exterior lighting). the contact called west broad volkswagen (9001 w broad st, richmond, va 23294, (804) 270-9000) and was informed that the vin was not included in the recall. the contact was referred to nhtsa. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

My 2013 vw passat 3.6 sel has major problems with the lighting, seat belts, and body. the fog lights, and front marker lights keep blowing out on the vehicle. the seat belts lose tension while driving, and there is body roll on the vehicle due to substandard body construction. my 2005 vw passat v6 4motion had a much safer, higher quality body construction than my 2013 vw passat 3.6 sel. it's quite obvious the executives at volkswagen of america, and volkswagen ag in wolfsburg, germany aren't interested in building safe, quality vw passat's. they are only interested in sacrificing quality, and safety to save a dollar.

Volkswagen of america engineered less-than-safe headlamps on my 2013 vw passat 3.6 sel. my headlamps are substandard, and do not shine bright a night as the xenon headlamps on the competitors of volkswagen. for a $40,000 vehicle, it's an expectation to have xenon headlamps, which are much safer than the existing headlamps on the vw passat. volkswagen has been installing 280 hp v6 engines in its passat since the 2006 model while their competitors have been installing 330hp and up in their v6 models. the vw passat should have at least 350hp/380 torque with all wheel drive, with a longitudinal engine. it's quite obvious that the executives at volkswagen of america, and volkswagen ag are interested in sacrificing quality and safety to save a dollar.

Recall #94g8 on 8/26/2014 i had my vehicle in for servicing at the dealership from which i had purchased it. they informed me that in addition to the routine servicing they would be addressing a recall issue regarding the "low beam headlights". the invoice i received shows the work performed. flash forward 4 years almost to the date, i wake in the morning to leave for work to see that neither of my low beam headlights are working. i called the dealership to get the issue resolved asap. while at the dealership later that day they looked the car over and come back with an estimate of $950 to fully replace both headlight assemblies based off the fact that there is power to the light sockets, but not to the bulbs. this seems to be an issue that would be very closely related to the issue the recall was issued for. yet because they have performed the initial solution meet the recall resolution specifications, volkswagen is not required to do anything further. how is this possible? if a specified resolution to a safety recall issue fails, the manufacturer should be made to look further into a better resolution, at no charge to the consumer. it most certainly is nothing that i did that caused the issue. the problem wouldn't exist at all if the design by the manufacturer wasn't flawed.

I have an issue with the right low beam headlight. put a new bulb in and it still don't work. im here at the vw repair and showed them that their was a recall on the this issue. they said that my car wasn't one of the ones that was recalled. it's not fair that i should pay for this part to be fixed. when it was recalled.

The headlight (low beam) on the passenger side is not stable - when i am driving, it will go off (and then sometimes on again) when i hit a bump in the road or just from vehicle vibration. i found out that there is a recall for both 2012 and 2013 passats but my specific vin number is not listed on the recall notice. i called volkswagen customer care ( case number 181250046) and was told they can not add it to the recall list even though it is the same problem. my vw dealer has seen my car and confirmed it is an electrical connection issue and the same issue as the recall. can you help me get my vin added to the recall list?

My driver side headlight would randomly stop working. sometimes when i was driving and other times when it was parked over night. for awhile i could move the light under the hood and it would work again but then i would hit a bump and it would stop. eventually the light connection wouldn't work at all anymore and the vw dealership told me i needed to replace the entire light so i did. now the passenger side light is doing the exact same thing. i noticed that there was a recall back in 2014 with the numbers 14v125000 and 94g8/7v explaining exactly what is happening to my car but it appears that my vin number does not have this recall under it. i have the bill for my headlight replacement and a diagnosis of the car if needed.

Left low beam headlamp failed at 78000 miles. i replaced the bulb, to no avail. switched the bulb to the driver side and it worked perfectly. put the suspected bad bulb in the driver side, worked perfectly. did some research and learned that the passenger side dim headlight socket was the subject of a recall. took the car to village vw in chattanooga. they refused to even look at the car, until i paid 99 dollars for a diagnosis fee, then parts and labor. i explained and re explained the recall. the refused to fix the car, since my vin wasn't specifically listed in the recall. i am having the exact symptoms listed n the recall, vw is refusing to repair it. this is apparently a common problem considering all i have read. many passat owners have the same problem with the same light, and vw is refusing to repair the vehicles.

At 65,000 miles, headlamp low beam, driver side stopped working. vehicle in motion.

My car is not currently included in recall 94g8/7v but is experiencing the exact issues outlined in the recall. my left, front, low beam headlight has gone out. the bulb is not burned out (tested on right side) and the high beam headlight still works. the car was stationary and idling when the light went out initially. i took the vehicle to the local vw dealership and was told it would cost me over $400 to fix the issue. i was told nothing about the active recall. within a short time the light began working again but only for a few weeks. it has gone out again and has been out for several months. i understand my vin is not included, but as stated, my issue is identical to the recall and it should be included. i am asking what i can do to have my vin added to the recall. thank you!

2013 vw passat tdi sel the check left low beam light radomly would come on then go off. then it stayed on, left low beam was no longer working. light was replaced but did not work. bulb did work in right side. when inspected module that bulb was inserted into, noticed a melted area. checked internet and discovered a recall for left low beam headlight for 2012-2013 passats due to this same issue. called local dealership, explained issue, said they would check and never got back to me. called vw explained the issue, was told that they have to legal obligation to fix it as my car is not involved in recall despite the same issue. told me that nhsta would not let them fix it. the recall fix involves replacing a small section of wiring and the module that bulb is inserted into.

Left front lowbeam went out, replaced bulb but still comes on intermittently. contacted vw and my car was not part of original recall , however my vw dealer has said hundreds of this make and model not covered under original recall have had same issue.

I brought my car a year ago to central auto group in plainfield, ct for a low beam light out on my car. i replaced the bulb and it still didn't work. the warning light was on also. they cleaned and looked for recall on the car but didn't find one. they said bulb was fine. i was told not to slam hood and be careful. everything for recall 14v125000 apples to my car but it is not on list. i still have the car warehouse of when it was made in 2012. why is my car not included in this recall. i have to replace the light holder? this is not right. there are many people out there having the same issue. my son drives this car. i would like assistance. my low beam light is out again. i changed the bulb but it won't work. the warning indicator light is lit up also. thank you for your time.

2013 passat recall on the low beam headlight headlight was working when purchases 3 days ago headlight has now stopped working do it yourself as per owner's did not work went to local volkswagen dealership presented informatio from website concerning low beam headlight recall no assistance provided contacted volkswagen customer care center there are other vehicles that are being affected by the low beam headlight recall

Dashboard displayed error to check right low beam. purchased replacement bulb. installed bulb and problem persisted. did online searches and found a recall for a "150,201 2012-'13 volkswagen passat sedans because a low-beam headlight bulb could lose electrical contact, leading to reduced visibility". i swapped the working socket/bulb combo from the left and it worked in the right hand housing. i found the part number for the replacement socket, and bought it at local dealer. the part appears to have been redesigned. installed with the original bulb and it worked fine. the old socket has one terminal that has melted plastic around it. i called vw customer service and they claimed my car was not covered under a recall for this condition and they refused reimbursement for the part.

Passenger side headlight turned off, after replacing bulb, it still comes off and on. after taking it to the vw dealership they said i'll need a new headlight and control unit module. this exact part was recalled for the same issue for my make and model but they are stating my vin # is not eligible. they need to expand their research as i've noted over 97 other owners having the same issue but are not under this recall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen passat. while driving various speeds at night, the front driver side low beam headlight flickered off and on. the contact stated that the low beam headlight also failed to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the local dealer (merced volkswagen, located at 1530 w main st, merced, ca 95340) where it was diagnosed that the entire headlight housing failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v125000 (exterior lighting). the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in the recall and did not offer further assistance. the approximate failure mileage was 70,980. ...updated 11/15/17 *bf the consumer stated the vehicle should be included in the recall. updated 11/29/2017*js

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen passat. the contact stated that the low beam headlights failed to illuminate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the technician stated that it was the exact failure they had been repairing for the recall. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v125000 (exterior lighting). the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 72,000. the vin was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen passat. while the vehicle was stationary, the passenger side low beam headlight malfunctioned. the contact stated that the headlight would not illuminate when prompted. it was diagnosed that the harness connector needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 102,000.

My vehicle is experiencing the same issue as detailed in nhtsa campaign number: 14v125000. the issue appeared the day after recieving service at the dealership (hood was opened and closed). the dealer states the recall does not apply to my vehicle, but the headlights installed in my vehicle are of the type indicated in the tsb as being defective. as of now, i have been unable to locate a replacement part and have only one functioning headlight. (i'm assuming because no one will sell it since it's known to be defective). please see the attached photo of the headlight installed in my vehicle (generation "20s"). also attached is the tsb that shows any unit less than generation "24s" needs replaced (see page 13 as numbered in the footer).

Headlamp assembly connectors on driver side are causing the low beam headlight to disconnect and not turn on bulb. have replaced numerous headlamps, none were burnt out. after having the vehicle looked at several times, it was determined the headlight assembly may become loose and lose electrical contact. called vw and they refused to fix because my vin was not listed on the recall # 94g8/7v, nhtsa campaign number 14v125000. vw stated my car was tested (although they couldn't say when, i have never had it inspected) and the issue was not present in my vehicle, although it is now. the problem expressed on the recall is exactly what is happening with the car causing a safety concern because the headlight does not come on. request the investigation is broadened to include more vehicles that may be presenting the problem after initial inspection. the problem occurs intermittently whether it is in motion or parked in a garage overnight.

I have had on and off trouble with my left low beam headlight for the last year. i looked to see if my vehicle was covered under the recall 94g8/7v and i was told it is not covered. i had the bulbs replaced and still have the problem. the low beam consistently goes on and off especially in the colder months. i took it to the vw place to have them check it and they told me i just need a new light. i had just had them both replaced so i don't think this is the problem. i believe the recall should be opened up to more 2013 vehicles.

Twice i have had to replace the headlights.

Exterior lightening: no low beam to front passenger side headlight. bulb is loose and has lost electrical contact. i had this issue checked at an vw dealership in milwaukee,wi months ago and was informed that this was the problem. (this issue is under recall). unfortunately, i was told that it does not apply for my series vehicle. what is the process to get my vehicle covered for replacement?

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 volkswagen passat. while driving approximately 65 mph, the headlights shut off and failed to illuminate. the contact replaced both headlight bulbs independently; however, the remedy failed to repair the failure. the contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing the failure listed in nhtsa campaign number: 14v125000 (exterior lighting); however, the vin was not included. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

Nhtsa 14v125000 / vw recall 94g8/7v - headlamp holder failure(s) i have had the car experience the "apparent" headlamp failure & replaced the headlamps (low beam - driver and passenger side) only to have the lamps fail again. the headlamps do not use a traditional socket & wire combination, but rather the bulb is inserted in a bulb holder & then screwed into a socket with a rubber cover placed behind to prevent water damage. the second time this occurred at night. as i pulled the rubber cover off, the light came back on (like a shorted wire). i replaced the bulb & twisted into place & the car worked normally for a month. since then, multiple lamp resets have been required (both drivers & passenger side). the "fixes" have gone from weeks to only days in duration & require me to stop & reset the lamps at all hours of the day & night to avoid vision & potential legal problems for "faulty equipment." in the last day, despite placing new dielectric grease on the driver's side socket, every time i get in the car i'm required to reset the bulb & socket. this is both annoying & dangerous (the side of the highway at 4am). luckily, i've gotten so good at this i can do it in the dark. i called vw customer care & was informed that my vin wasn't in the recall range, but that they would look at it & determine if they could assist. this "out of vin range" situation may be more common than is thought as a quick google turned up a startling similar nhtsa complaint: http://www.carproblemzoo.com/volkswagen/passat/2013/headlights-problems.php i can do the socket replacement if sent the revised parts. the design is clever & when i replaced the first bulb, i thought it a great design that eliminates wires that can otherwise pull loose from a traditional style socket. obviously, the initial design works itself loose over time. out of pocket cost to date - $75.00

I was pulling slowly into a parking space, and the car suddenly surged and hit a parking meter pole. the same thing happened again six and a half weeks later, again at very low speed. this time the car hit the wall of the parking ramp, and the driver's airbag deployed. in both cases, it was the first time the car had been driven that morning, a distance of about three miles. *tr

Takata recall car was recalled for lights, after being in the shop my car would not start, i was told my service manager that it was due to the weather, i responded with it cant be cause the battery is holding a charge, i was kicked out of service area, i have also paid for my airbags to fixed and i complained about the warning light before recall happened, and before 36k milage experation.. my day time running light recall, has been serviced three times still does work.. i cant see the road at night. my car sometimes stahls iwhile driving and will not go over2krpm, oh you can also move the gear shift without holding button down while driving..

These steering wheel components stopped working: horn, turn signals, high beams, windshield wipers, and cruise control. not sure if air bag will in case of a car wreck. instrument panel displays the following message: "button for driver assistant system defective". been an ongoing issue for the past since buying the car 2013, roughly 5 years ago. volkswagens technicians repaired the issue multiple times on seperate occassions *while the vehicle was still under warrant.

We are driving a loaner 2013 vw passat that we are in the process of purchasing. we drove it for the first time at night and encountered a serious problem with the headlights. we exited the highway and while going around the bend of the off ramp i was unable to see the side of the road at all. at first i thought my vision blurred but as we examined it further we learned that there is a very serious dark area on both front corners of the car. when re -entered the highway we also found ourselves distracted by the dark spots even while going in a strait line. we proceeded to dim all instrumentation to see if that was adding distraction but the problem was still prevalent. as we drove home we reviewed the headlight dispersion of other cars and all of them projected adequate light in the front corners of the car. if there were a bicyclist or person walking on the side of the road there is a high probability we would have hit them or go off into a ditch from the inability to see the side of the road. *tr

1. the lighting recall i have had my car serviced at least 4xs for light.. the light is still not fixed, every time the hood is open and closed the light goes out. 2. i was sent recall letter about airbag, i went to have it fixed and was told that the sensor got wet and its my responsibility and was charged alomost 1k to fix it.3. my car while driving says settings are not accessible, this is constant and its not as though im trying to change the settings, while driving. also the last time i took my car in for service i paid for my ac filter to be changed and it wasn't they said my tires were ok they were not. i have been kicked out of one dealership because the service manager was clearly a racist. i have had so many problems and when i call vw of america im put on hold, just to be told that there is nothing they can do. now they are calling me over, and over to extend my warranty, i paid for my car in full.. i cant get one person to take my issues seriously, i can barely see the road when driving, the cars settings constantly change. last but not least i paid for cosmetic issues and had a new battery put in all while under warranty. because the service manager kicked me out of dealership.

Steering: vehicle pulls to an excessive amount potentially leading to injury or death. it does not track straight at all, no matter if it's on the left lane of the road, center crown of the road or in the right lane (no curves. i took the vehicle in to the dealership over 4 times thinking it may be an alignment problem. i was told the second time that it pulls hard to the right as a "safety measure", to lead the car to the right shoulder to get off the road on to the shoulder. asked the service advisor to show me where vw had disclosed this as a "safety" measure. there was no such documentation. i took it in to another vw dealership in my same city. they did what they said was the 'best they could do without exceeding vw's specifications. this is a dangerous defect and the second dealership admitted to me that vw was having some problems with this issue. lights/electrical: the low beam light went out on the drivers side of the vehicle. i took it to one of the dealerships in my city. i thought it went out too soon but suspect it was an issue. it turned out to be more then a simple burnt out bulb. the whole light assembly had to be replaced because of what the service advisor told me was indeed a problem vw was having with the electrical connection making continuous contact (like a plug & receptacle). he stated that they had changed the design in the 2014 models because of this defect in the 2013 models. i requested that since it was a known issue, i would like them to retrofit or change out the passenger side light. he stated to me he was not authorized to change the defective unit until it actually fails. this is potentially dangerous as it can happen at night when lights are really needed, and during the day if lights need to be on for safety where it is required on some of the more dangerous roads. get it in writing what is wrong-no glossing over. *tr
