The car looses power/ acceleration while im driving, the prnds light and others start going on and flashing on dash. its in the dealership as of march 12, 2012 and they are charging me for changing the metatronic unit in the transmission. vw had a recall done on the 2008-2010 vw's with the dsg transmissions but not the earlier ones like mine 2006. i am experiencing the same thing as the others have and am wondering why is my car/ year is not included in the recall. i have the same bad transmission in my car that they produced in the later years. i need to get my car fixed, this is a big safety issue to me and my family. *kb
The transmission started slipping and shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd. this occurrence is due to a faulty transmission control unit and transmission solenoid. if not properly taken care of this might cause a transmission failure and ultimately a transmission crash. this means a new transmission and the cost can range from 3000-7000 dollars. this has happened to many vw owners. especially volkswagens between 2001-2003. *kb

I have a 2010 vw jetta tdi with dsg automatic transmission. vehicle has 15k miles on it thus far. when pulling out onto a street from a complete stop there is a definite and hazardous hesitation before the vehicle will move forward. this issue existed since the car was new. sometimes the hesitation is very short before the car will move, other times it takes the car a moment as if the car has to "think" about what it is supposed to do. when i push the accelerator pedal the car just sits there! the longer hesitations are fairly frequent and are a danger to other vehicles, my family and myself. i don't trust this car to be able to quickly move out of harm's way in an emergency and also don't trust it to pull onto a street in front of any other vehicle no matter how far away the other vehicle is down the road. it's just not safe to do so! vw should be forced to address this problem and provide a fix for this common issue and complaint that can be read about on various vw forums all over ...
The dual mass flywheel has failed on my car. if this would have happened at high speed it could cause the transmission and engine to seize thus locking the front wheels and causing loss of control/serious vehicle damage. there is widespread information about this on the internet documenting the failures, some of which have destroyed the vehicles transmission and engine in the process. volkswagen of america is aware of this problem and hasn't issued a recall . i am forced to replace this part myself since vw will not cover this part despite the fact that they now have an upgraded replacement part as they know the original is defective. cst to repair at dealership $1600. *tr
My 2010 vw jetta sports wagon with the dsg automatic is currently having a severe hesitation when starting from a stop. i let off the break and step on the gas and it does not move for a second then lurches forward. this is dangerous when pulling out in traffic. it seems as the car drives longer it get worse. the car has stalled during this hesitation as well. when it stalls you have to put the car in park then turn the key off and restart the car. this is a very uneasy feeling while at an intersection. the car also lurches forward when coming to a complete stop, this has almost made me hit a car in front of me. this is a daily issue. *tt
Dsg transmission is getting more frequent with the hard shifting/surging both forward and reverse and occurs usually when slowing down and then letting go of the brake upon a green light. sometimes the car will roll back if on a slight incline when letting go of the brake. vw dealership says that the dsg is a very "active" transmission and it is normal. i was told this on two separate occasions and going to bring my car in again until the problem is fixed. *kb
